Yes, it is a hard grind and I don't remember how long it took to get all perks unlocked on both sides. My first maxed out (Prestige 3 Lv50 Full Perk) character was Jeff and I did it about a year (and ~1000hrs) ago. Now I have 5 of these characters.
The grind was much worse at the beginning (2016) or even a year ago, before the Archives were implemented. You get a lot help, trust me.
And there is no pay to win and no shady store etc. You don't need cosmetics. You don't need the Battle Pass. You don't need Auric Cells to play. The perks in the shrine are buyable with Shards which is earned by playtime.
The DLC and all the microtransactions is to keep the game flowing, the servers up etc. But you DON'T NEED TO BUY ANYTHING and you can play just fine. A friend of mine never bought anything with real money after she bought the base game. No DLCs, nothing. She unlocked other characters with Shards and has all perks (except a few of licensed characters which did not appear in the Shrine so far).
We all started with Lv1 characters and no perks. What perks are you missing? Decisive Strike? Deliverance? Other strong DLC perks? You don't need these at the beginning. I also didn't have them, when I started. I leveled Claudette first. No double BP event or special cakes, when I started to play. Then I got We're Gonna Live Forever from David to level faster. I leveled Huntress, messed up with the Hatchets, at Lv 20 changed to Wraith, before I bought the Halloween DLC (I love Myers) and leveled Michael up to 50. I stuck with him before I changed to Freddy way later. I never got BBQ & Chili, Enduring or Borrowed Time/Unbreakable (very good perks) until the very end when I bought all the DLCs during a sale.
Yes, the grind is hard, but believe me. I got through it without using all the meta perks at the beginning. I missed nearly every DS skillcheck (the times I tried it, because people said "it is so strong"), I couldn't handle the pressure of being the Obsession back then, when it was a REAL risk to have those entity claws around your name. I did not use Dead Hard because I could not look back without running into something. I used something like this when I started: Self Care, We're Gonna Live Forever, We'll Make It and Premonition. Sadly I got carried by a group, which I regret now (I learned very late how to loop properly), but it helped me at the start.
Don't give up.
-
Honestly why? I like the trousers and the hoodie but I hate masks (since they indicate "toxic" to me). I would have considered buying it, but now? No chance.
I can understand it if it is for a licensed character, but Nea?
Please don't make only sets now. I would like to have all the options to customize my character.
-
Since I'm a person who tries to get these "impossible" saves during EGC and often dying because of it (and regretting it almost as often), I would appreciate it.
You can't imagine how often I black pip at red ranks because I die for the team in the end...
-
I can confirm: Event Items seem to be fixed now. 400k BP spent on my P3 50 characters yesterday and I got 4 or 5 items (plus some cakes too, but no longer guaranteed ones). I even prestiged my Bill so I can test it on lower levels of P3. Here is what I got after spending 300k BP:
Plus 6 cakes. I'm happy now. :)

@PrettyFaceKate said:
If you want cakes, spend bps on killers. It's the only event item they get.
Yep. The reason why I don't have many on killer. I wanted the items XD.

:( sorry to hear that. Maybe they're going to adress this in the next hotfix coming this friday
Maybe I'm just lucky... But I think the hotfix DID fix something. 400k BP spent and 4 Items. I'm impressed. Not every bloodweb a cake though. But hey I've still got over 100 of these.

These are my low level that I level'd up for this event (aka getting the crown). Its easier to show, bc they're low level. Cant remember if I might have looted one or two, but I probably didnt bc none had plunderers equipped.

havent really level'd my p3 chars so I cant tell if there is a difference. But this might be true
Now I'm really jealous. And sad, because I don't want the items on non P3 characters. And Plunderer's had no effect for me btw. I spent 400k BP again and only got one Flashlight. At least I have one each on my maxed out David.
-
I have over 100 in Stock and used about 20-30 so far.
-
Depends on your playstyle and the character you play. I threw out DH because of servers. It got eaten too often even with 40ms ping. Unbreakable is good, but it doesn't get much use, when I had it.
So this is what I think:
DS, Iron Will/Self Care (what you prefer), Spine Chill and Kindred.

I can understand your frustration, everything is new and you have not found out some mechanics yet. Hell, even I with 2.8k hrs (playing both sides) still learn stuff.
But I have to tell you something:
-Your points: Doing Gens alone without anyone else gives less bloodpoints (BP) than if you do co-op. You will get more points for your rank though, if working alone. Although unhooking/heling and doing totems gives you a lot of BP, being chased by the Killer and trowing pallets, stunning them and vaulting gives also a lot of points. Also escaping gives you 5k BP, getting the Hatch gives you 2.5k on top of it. If you are not chased and die in the match, then your chances are higher to have less points that another mate who got chased (and you had to rescue) but escaped. Being stealthy gives you points too... but not as much as when you get chased.
-The Crow: This little thingy is to help Killers with AFK survivors or constantly hiding people. Without these, you would never find Claudette in the bush, who laid something on her CTRL button to perma crouch while being AFK. Even if the Killer searches the area (~10-20m around you) you can change position while being undetected. I hate the perk, but "Urban Evasion" from Nea Karlsson is great for that.
-Camping Killers: They get punished for their rank up. But I wish it would be higher too. Don't mind them, though, they don't know that it is better to find another survivor soon. They do this even at red ranks.
-Matchmaking: I hate it too. Believe me. It is no fun to go against newbies.
-Aura Reading of Killers: I think you mean perks like BBQ & Chili (the Leatherface Skill), A Nurse's Calling and Dark Sense. To conter BBQ i can only recommend you going into the locker befor the Killer hooks the other survivor. When he is hooked, wait until the "bouble" around the hook vanishes (these are 5s, BBQ is 4s), then exit the locker. Nurse's Calling and Bitter Murmur are more difficult to counter but sooner or later you will get a sence for it. Also the perk "Distortion" from Jeff Johansen helps to get a feeing for this. It hides your Aura and Scratchmarks 3 times if your Aura would be shown to the killer for 6/8/10s.
Stealth Killers (aka Pig, Ghostface, Wraith) got immunity against Aura reading perks (Status "Undetectable"), mainly because the Perk "Object of Obsession" from Laurie Strode (often used at high ranks and SWF) was an unfair hard counter to these Killers. If they used their power to reduce their Terror Radius to 0, you could see them until you could scratch their noses. Normal distance for this perks Aura reading is from 56/64/72m to the Killers Terror Radius (32m default, 24/20/16m for slower Killers and Michael Myers in EWII). It was a needed buff for these Killers.
Killers:
-Ghostface or other stealth Killers: Use "Spine Chill" or "Premonition" (both common perks). They are your best friends. Spine Chill is in my base kit for survivor.
-Pig:That's her power and it is meant to slow down the gen repairs. She has only 4 masks (max 5 with an add-on). Normally you only need to do one. It is RNG dependent if you have to search one or all boxes. It is only unfun if the Killer chases you when you got a helmet on, else it takes only 2:30min max. Because that is the default timer before it explodes.
-Plague: For newbies it is hard to stay injured all the time, but the sooner you get used to it, the better. So just go on the gen even if she puked on it.
-Doc: Yep, hes nuts against newbies who can't hit skillchecks properly. But no better Killer to learn it I guess? Your character screams all the time if he/she is in Madness III. you have to calm yourself, then he/she is quiet again. Use "Calm Spirit" from Jake Park to counter the screaming (if you really hate him that much) or go into a locker if he is nearby. His shocks can't reach you there. Before his rework, he used to give you more madness the closer you were to him. Now it is fine and more consistent. His power is basically FINDING survivors and denying them pallets/windows. His 360 has 60s cooldown by default. This is not "spammable".
-Freddy: I as a Freddy Main, can confirm that he is very strong, even at high level play. He's even a good Killer without perks/add-ons. You know that you don't need to wake up? The only thing he get's when you are asleep is a shorter cooldown for his teleport (you can live with that). No aura reading or slowdown (without add-ons) while asleep like before the rework. I only wake up, if there's 3 people alseep on a gen with a failed skill check, if the clock is on my way to the next gen or if I have "Borrowed Time" and I want to use it.
PS: Survivor is mor stessfull at the beginning, but believe me: Killer get's more and more stressfull than survivor once you climb up the ranks.
-
1) I do not tbag the Killer
2) I don't say ez in chat (except it is obviously funny. f.e. the game did not load in)
3) A victory for MYSELF is gaining a Pip or sacrificing myself so all others can escape.
4) A victory for the TEAM is 3 or 4 people escaping (no AFK Killer obviously)
5) If ALL had fun. That's always a win.
-
Mikey is the only Killer, who still scares me. I don't see him that often nowadays sadly, but i always like to play against and as him.The first time I saw him again after ages, I got tombstoned the second I saw him for the first time in that match. I missed that so much.
I hope he gets some buffs though, since he is a bit weak compared to newer killers and Ghostface can do the stalking so much better than him.
I also like Freddy (he's my Main), his story and the way he looks. I also tried to get good with him and how he really works before the rework. That helped a lot.
-
I can't watch the clip.
And I have one question: Did someone break a totem? A friend of mine had a weired bug where the EGC started when he did a totem and the game just ended when he did a second one. It was like this for 7 matches straight. It was OK again, when he restarted the game.

I got one event item on most of my games, sometimes even two if I brought a coin. So dunno if I was just lucky. Got a lot less keys than usual tho
if that is the case then the event items have even higher rarity than ultra rare. I will test it this evening.
-
@Fiv55 said:
Wow dang, seems like I'm pretty lucky with my account. I did the math like 2 days ago and I got basicly 1 event item every 4 bloodwebs (ITEM not offering! These are in each BW at least once).
I recommend running plunderers and all the shiny coins that you own. I got a ton of event items just from looting chests during the game.
Does plunderers really help? I heard that it makes things worse, since event items are technically of common rarity and plunderers increases rarity.
But I will try.
-
@BlazePyron2 said:
I had assumed that the cake was the only event item (this is my first event) but one of my webs spawned a flashlight the other day and i realized there were other items. What's the point of these items if nobody uses them because they're so rare?
I wouldn't complain so much if these special items were found in boxes regularly,so I can escape with them. But even in boxes these are rare. They have like hyper ultra rare rarity. I don't understand this.
I even let Survivors escape if they get one in the boxes because they are so rare.
-
This is why I had the idea to make every Killer Offering secret, except BP Offerings. So no one DCs because the Killer chose a specific map or a Mori. Else I would give a time-out for using a mori right after unhook, or - like you said - only usable after 2nd hook.
-
I'm also contributing a few screenshots now.
in the brown box was no event item btw.
You see, that in these 5 bloodwebs there isn't a single item. I started with about 400k BP btw. Nothing except Gateaus.
Please adjust the possibility to get the Event Items in your new patch. It is just frustrating to invest all the BP in those characters I've already maxed out to get the items for the collection. I spent about 4-5mio BP in my three P3 50 Full Perk (main) survivors since the beginning of the Event, which I could have spent to prestige/level up/max out other characters. I'm not complaining about the approx 130 Gateaus I got so far, but I wish I could change them into items.
I had no problems getting Halloween event stuff last year though. There was always one ITEM in the web.
-
Spirit only needs headphones and a quiet environment (I have birds, so... meh). You are really screwed if you do not run Iron Will or if Spirit runs Stridor.
I also hate Bubba, but only because of the way he looks and his sounds. And because he camps often.

3) Nobody demanded anything, the devs did this of their own free will. However, for the record, these are the same arguments given to every disenfranchised group in history. Women didn't get to vote because they kept quiet and tried not to annoy people.
I would be completely fine with 1-2 killers and 1-2 survivors who are LGBTQ, but not more. Else it would be too much.
Why? Does there need to be a specific quota?
Or leave it as it is now: if you imagine character X is gay, than be it like that for you. This would be best for everyone. No one gets offended or forgotten.
"As it is now" is heterosexuals get representation, everyone else gets shafted. That's why the devs said they would no longer restrict themselves when it came to adding relationships.
There are some extremist who want to be considered at all cost. These annoy me. They are like the vegans who want to want to be like them,by telling me that I'm a murderer. Such people do more bad than good. And sadly they are the loudest.
There doesn't need to be a quota. But suddenly having many LGBT people everywhere only to appease is quite unrealistic. I can understand you want to be considered. I'm not asking you to "be quiet" or similar. Just.... try to see that some people really get annoyed when getting spammed with other people's needs.
What is your problem with characters not having a specified sexuality? For me Ace is gay. Period. Is is not written in his bio. For others he is hereo or bi or Trans. It doesn't matter.
Not to define the sexuality of characters is the best option, in my opinion. No one is insulted or forgotten because their gender/sexuality isn't included.
-
I just say, wat I di in another of these threads:
I'm not against people of different sexualities. I only have some problems when putting this in games/movies etc:
1) You can't get it right for everyone. If you add one LGBTQ character who is... let's say gay. Then there will be players wo say: "There needs to be a lesbian one now. Else you are sexist!" and so on an on. There will be always people who want their sexuality considered regardless if there are only 10 people with this or not.
2) If it is done bad, it get's annoying. Think of "The Last of Us 2". Sadly this is often the case, because it "needs" to be in this game/movie.
3) Sadly: The more LGBTQ people are "demanding" to be considered everywhere, the more other people get annoyed and won't listen anymore. And you clearly do not want this.
I would be completely fine with 1-2 killers and 1-2 survivors who are LGBTQ, but not more. Else it would be too much.
Or leave it as it is now: if you imagine character X is gay, than be it like that for you. This would be best for everyone. No one gets offended or forgotten.
-
I always try to be fair. No camping (not patrolling!), tunneling or Mori without reason. I do this stuff if Survivors are toxic, get cocky or try hard themselves.
It works quite well for me at rank 5
-
There is two types on red ranks.
Those who truly belong there and those who don't.
With the new rank reset more and more people get to red ranks but actually don't belong there. And there is those guys with 100hrs who are rank 1 because they got carried by their swf buddies.
I faced rank 12 who were better than some rank 1 as well as true survivor gods with 5k or more hrs.

OP explained why the basement spawn would help. It would be great when everyone knows about that. That would give Territorial also a bit of value
If your totem decides to spawn there. You would also risk a perk slot for territorial even if it's not used.

The basement would be a good totem spot, because it forces you to go somewhere that; a. you wouldn't often choose to go (compared to "I'm just running from one gen to another, may as well check 6 totem spawns on the way there") and b. the killer can turn to an advantage, such as through territorial having a more general value than specifically aiming to go into a basement defender build.
I often go to the basement for the chest.

Oh so keys will no longer be in the inventory? Only chests?
I think you should still get them in your web but I also like the idea to make keys "in-match only".
@GeordieKiller said:
I like that idea especially except for the add on bit i would prefer if they move the key out of the bloodweb and just make them chest only as i do see mori perhaps moving to being built in for killers but in a similar manner to PH mini mori so that would be a fair balance on the two most broken aspect of the game.
I like the ideas for Moris. We would need another ultra rare offering for that one achievement though.
-
Sadly the best totem spots won't matter if everyone knows it could be there. The best totem spawns are those you cannot see. The Saloon Map or Lèry's have some of these.
-
I would like it but better do it in a new game where it is balanced around both parties having 1st person view.
Imagine sitting on a Gen and you can't look directly behind you.... And suddenly a Myers grabs you
-
@MiniPisa said:
I don't know why you'd think this would be "impossible for multiple people to get out". Just use the ultra rare addon and don't open the hatch in front of the killer - which people do anyway lol
I said if you FOUND a key in the match. Some swf have one guy with plunderers to get a key in the match (to avoid tunneling or Franklin's). I don't know how to fix keys in general but this adjustment would at least require 3 keys for 3 people at one Gen left to get out.

Yeah. Jake is mine ;) (So he's straight, in my HC. Out of the two rebels, Nea is the more likely to be LGBT. By the way she dresses and stuff. Jake and Claudette are also a ship I'm pretty sure to the devs *their matching outfits*)
I don't think Nea is LGBTQ only because she dresses like a tomboy. I dress myself like one too, because it's more comfortable and practical and I'm straight.
-
I can totally understand you. Too many tunnelers even with DS. Especially if I do not have it with me.

As someone who has met a lot of LGBT people, and is Q (questioning) themself, I think it's safe to say that I want them to keep sexuality out of lore completely, unless it is NECESSARY to their story. Head canons are very liked and should be able to be kept in this community.
That being said, LGBT people are and will always be a minority.
So, out of all the characters, I narrowed it down to a few that I think could be LGBT (only survivor) realistically, because in reality not a lot of people will be LGBT.
Dwight- A dev themself said they like DwightxDavid, so he should probably be bi, at least.
David- Bi. ^
Kate- Probably straight, but some of her outfits suggest otherwise.
Meg- Lesbian.
Nea- Bi
Ace- If he's not straight, he's gay. Not in between.
Those are the ones I narrowed down for MY head canons. As I said, I hope they keep sexuality out of lore unless it is needed to explain more.

This is pretty sad, all things considered. I saved up 1.4 million BP, from the bonus 50k a day and a challenge I didn't turn in because I was trying to max my BP. I ended up with 36 of the cake offerings, 5 new BPS and 4 of each event items on my P3-50 Ace. Kind of weird how I have no issue finding the offerings, I even found 3 in a single blood web, in comparison these items are stupidly rare to the point that it's almost as laughable as the game balance.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/PVC9P9OHI7XS/a-waste-of-bp.png
You seem to be more lucky than me. I have over 45 Gateaus and only 6 items on one character. I don't even bother getting more cakes on my 2 P3 killers until I have at least 10 of each item on my main. Which equals about 5 Million BP.
-
I got the Luna new year outfit for Feng through a bug. I wasn't playing back then, I just had it when I joined.
I was always jealous of those who had the event jacket for David, but now that I have it, I don't want to use it.
It's different with the cosmetics you needed Codes for, since I can really understand why they did it (the immense money they cost on eBay etc).
I use them on some characters.
-
The gateau is a lie, there is only the cake.
Through the cake we gain bloodpoints,
Through bloodpoints we gain items,
Trough items we gain power,
Through power we gain victory,
Through victory our ranks get broken.
May the Entity set us free.
-
Sadly no licensed character can get it. I would have loved a Mikey or Demo with a crown.
-
I would say: reward the token when you are outside 24m radius of the hook for 5s to prevent camping.... but what when someone is in that range or you see scratch marks so you don't leave?
That would be ######### as well.
And separating those 2 perks would not make any difference. No one would use the BP perk if it doesn't do anything else.

If you sit in red ranks, SWFs will be everywhere. However, As a solo player, bad killers get absolutely dominated at any rank. Then you have a COMPLETELY BROKEN Match Making system. I get rank 20-14 killers playing solo at purple ranks and i refuse to SWF. I'm pure solo. Have been since 2017. It sounds like you need to tank your rank. There is utterly ZERO reason to be in red ranks besides getting the achievements.
For almost 2 years now, I've refused to get into red ranks. I'll hook suicide or DC until I'm not. I don't care and nor should any of you. The Devs don't care about balancing outside of bandaid fixes nor are they at all adamant about fixing gamebreaking things(Like how i still fall through the floor in the basement occasionally, and STILL to this day since i started in 2016, i get stuck in place on roots, small rocks or even corners and cant move until i'm downed, picked up, and hooked). Until they start taking better care of their game, I personally won't care about other people's game outcomes. Purple is as high as i'll go. Red ranks are zero fun all sweat.
I'm at red ranks and I'm not sweaty. Why do I stay there? Because I don't leave my team to die because I had to suicide on hook to get back into purple ranks.
-
Ok, I understand that having a coordinated (toxic) swf where all have this perk can be frustrating in the mid-late game where they can activate it. You need 60s gen repairs to activate it ONCE for 30s (half the time as Pop). So roughly 4 gens need to be done for every survivor to get it.
If they spam it to prevent you from using Pop then they can't repair it either. Try to down one of them while they can't work on it. They are probably doing this twice but then they can't get it activated anymore.
I don't know in which region you play but I rarely see this perk here in Germany. I also tried to see if I would put it into my base kit again at high mobility Pop users (Freddy, Nurse, Spirit, Billy), but I never really got value out of it. Sometimes I couldn't even activate it once.

Remember the moon offerings and how dumb they were? They were removed for good reason, but map offerings stay. Map offerings are just as bad, if not worse than the moon offerings. Map offerings can send you to broken and unfavourable maps, and can sometimes mean a win for a survivor. With maps like Ormond and Haddonfield existing, we should have map offerings removed, as it creates an unfair advantage for either side. For both sides they are trash, a survivor can burn a haddonfield or Ormond offering whilst a killer can burn a dead dawg saloon map offering. I think they should be removed until every map in dbd if fixed.
I just had an idea, why some people (like myself) seem to get Survivors with different preferences.
Where do you play? I live in Germany. Maybe there's a different "map meta" around the world.
Like I said. Haddonfield is rarely used here since the nerf of BL. And (at least for myself) I always dropped Ormond as killer when facing a bunch of Blendettes, so they couldn't hide.
I think that Haddonfield should get a rework though. The fences are sometimes.... very long and some pallets are very strong especially with a fence+window.

Meanwhile I'm just here hating map offerings because I never use them and they cost 5k BPs. They're just a waste of space on the bloodweb that I'm occasionally forced to buy.
Lol, I say that about Mist Offerings. I get more of these and I never ever use them.
-
I play both sides on PC for 2.8k hrs now (red Survivor and puple/red killer) . I usually see Corn Map, Auto Heaven, Red Forrest or MacMillan Offerings. Sometimes an Ormond or Springwood, but rarely Haddonfield. The latter was more common before the BL nerf since you got very strong loops with that perk. I never had much problems on Ormond, I learned to hate Red Forest because it's so large and Corn maps, because I can't see (I get Blendys' every time.... or they chose it).
But I don't think map offerings should be disabled. How am I supposed to play Mirror Myers then? XD

Great way to get yourself camped :p
You also get camped for clicking, pointing and tbagging.

Yep. I guess it's the same with oni. Also a lot of hair

PC Players got them because the grind was much worse back in 2016. It was a gift to those who grinded it all up to Prestige3 when it was changed (with the Halloween chapter I think).

I like Jesus Jeff but I would love it so much more if I could combine it with the Corpse Paint.
On some characters you can't even see it properly: Spirit and Oni, since their default hair is so voluminous.
