Separate BBQ and Chili BP bonus

For the amount of info that BBQ and Chili provides, it makes the game much more easier with little effort. I understand it was added to give a reason not to tunnel and hook other survivors, but it actually rewards bad gameplay for the killer for no effort at all. A killer already knows somebody has to come and save the survivor and will gain more points staying near a hook searching for the survivors that is not being revealed by the perk.

You do realise standing near the hook lowers your points right? making BBQ and chilli utterly useless in terms of perk and BP bonus?

  • "but it actually rewards bad gameplay for the killer for no effort at al"

Decisive Strike, Borrowed Time, Dead Hard, Unbreakable do basically the same. Reward you for your mistakes.

  • They don't give you double bloodpoints though at the end of the match. That's what this is about. Bloodpoints. Not the perk. The perk We're Gonna Live Forever is its own perk for a fundamental survivor gameplay. BBQ and Chili awards and grants more and plus.

  • It rewards good gameplay though. They succeeded in hooking a survivor so they get extra bloodpoints. I don't know why you'd want a perk to give less bloodpoints though, the bloodpoints don't make it a better perk.

  • I'm saying the aura reading needs to be separated from the bloodpoint bonus. They can both be their own separate perks. Both together, no. A tunnel and camp can't be differentiated from the bonus reward however. We're Gonna Live Forever requires you to unhook safely.

  • BBQ only rewards additional points for the first hook. So it discourages tunnelling and camping. Is that not what survivors want?

  • The bonus rewards Good killers, yes, but it also gives reward to the bad players. Players that cannot hunt or track survivors. It's an ez bee line to a survivor with the aura. That's why it needs to be separated.

You do realise half the time when survivors aren't revealed it's because they know to hide in lockers when it becomes obvious that the killer has bbq?

That's what Iron Maiden is for. Rancor also shows you in lockers. At least, Rancor did at one point. Not sure if it still does.

  • BBQ is already at a great spot, Camping in the scenario you bring up would be a detrimental strategy unless, ofc if survivors are stupid then its gonna work. Camping isnt easy to pull off with smart survivors. And BBQ as it works currently is extremely good for creating snowballing effect for the Killer.

This is not about the Perk BBQ and Chili as an aura reading perk. This is about the Bonus BP reward that goes with it. The two should no go together as a bonus. If you enjoy BBQ and Chili as an aura reading perk, that's great. More power to you. I'm saying the perk should not have a bonus BP reward added to the aura reading. The BP bonus and Aura reading need to be their own unique perks. Catching a survivor and finding them is a fundamental to dead by daylight. So make it a unique perk. NOT an additional bonus to assisted game play in the same way survivors have We're Gonna Live Forever.

I'm not saying BBQ and Chili as an aura reading perk needs to be changed. I'm saying separate the BP bonus that goes along with it. And then that's when you'll have a bonus to good game play even if survivors are in lockers. Hooking is a fundamental to dead by daylight and giving the BP reward with assisted game play too much. That's what I'm trying to communicate. Not that the aura reading is too strong or needs to be changed, but there should be a bonus to assisted gameplay in the same way We're Gonna Live Forever has no assistance to how you play, but only if you play better.

  • @redjasper Ah, but surely the perk encrouages walking away from a hook too.

  • I would say: reward the token when you are outside 24m radius of the hook for 5s to prevent camping.... but what when someone is in that range or you see scratch marks so you don't leave?

That would be ######### as well.

And separating those 2 perks would not make any difference. No one would use the BP perk if it doesn't do anything else.
