F. To the killer who felt fun and rewarding to face, had a nice amount of counterplay, was admitted by the devs to be balanced, and where the better player came out on top.
There, fixed it for you.
They didn’t admit he was balanced. They said they were MOSTLY happy with him. You know what mostly means? Not fully lol
-
Because barely anyone plays her. Less playtime = getting talked about less
-
The killer knowing where one survivor is vs the whole swf team knowing where the killer is. It’s not exactly a good trade. OoO is almost always ran by swfs and it makes it a lot more powerful and annoying. That’s why they don’t like it.

My point was, if you cant hit skill checks, you most certainly can hit W and go look for a totem.
Using "cant hit skill checks" as a reason to change something illustrates without doubt the player lacks skills, its not the games fault. I mean, its literally called "skill check" oh the irony.
Super Mario Bros design on NES had a Goomba come at you as soon as you start, forcing the player to learn the first motion in the game, "jump"
If a player cannot learn to jump, then its them not the game fault.
Because we all know how good new players are at hunting down totems. It’s not like NOED is top tier in the green ranks or anything.
-
If you think they’re going to nerf PGTW just because it’s popular and your reasoning is the Ruin nerf then you clearly don’t know the actual reason why ruin was nerfed.
-
Micheal. He is evil incarnate.
-
Whoa, who knew? Definitely not every single person on the forums.
-
Micheal doesn’t need a rework. He’s one of the more balanced killers outside of him being easily bullied if no one feeds him stalk early game

The survivor bias of balanced.
The devs want a 2 survive 2 escape balance. They’ve said it multiple times. It’s not survivor bias. It’s DEV bias.

Stop
A good survivor could make a guess based off how long it’s been since he’s hit tier 3. If you’ve been in the game awhile and he hits it you should know he’s using tombstone.
-
They “instantly” 4k’d with tombstone? Really? Instantly? Your team fed him some VERY easy stalk if that’s the case and that’s your teams fault. Myers is the last killer who needs a perk rework. Cry about iri head huntress lol

Not really. It's 16 to 32. 16 seconds wasted of 2 people's time is 16 seconds total. 32 of 1 persons time is 32 seconds.
You don’t understand. It’s 32 seconds either way because the other person could have used their 16 seconds on a gen or doing totems. It’s either 32 seconds alone or 16x2 because it takes to people.

How? It takes 32 seconds not 16.
32 seconds of one person's time. 16 seconds of 2 people's time. It's the same amount of time wasted technically.

Just play kill your friends if you want to do swf.
Just play KYF if you want to be able to spec your killer for a swf.

That is a reportable offense I believe. I hate that playstyle also but I won't slug them pointlessly at the end of the game just to be toxic.
I don’t think it’s reportable. It’s not holding the game hostage because of the EGC.

Killers would just dodge lobbies and increase queue times. No.

DO. NOT. BALANCE. YOUR. GAME. DEVS.

If you are the second person for Myers to chase with T3 after Infectious fails to proc, you probably suck at the game. Let's be generous and assume that the Michael had 99% T3 and popped it while he was on the first survivor's ass. Assuming you werent caught by Infectious, you have a 32m head start, MINIMUM. Chances are you are a decent distance away already since you not only heard the T3 queue but saw the survivor get downed, so you are already either moving away or stealthing. It will take the myers 15 seconds MINIMUM to even enter a chase with you, at which point you just loop him and drop pallets slightly early.
If everyone played like a bot and never made mistakes that's how everyone would do it, yeah.
-
@CosmicParagon said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1451666#Comment_1451666
There's an incredibly easy counter to both of them: SPREAD OUT. Infectious has a max range, and you should be spread out on gens anyways if you want to properly rush gens
The thing is every Myers is going to go on the hunt even if infectious doesn't proc because they want to make the most of their tier 3. If you're decent you can get at least two downs and it's unlikely there won't be anyone in range of either if they're spread out slightly. Also, you usually make sure there's a couple people around if you're going into tier 3. It's meh if you're using it to just down one guy.
-
lmao no
-
Depends on the killer. It’s usually just a bit of a time waster, but there are killers that can profit waaaay too much. I’ve played so many Myers games where I didn’t even defend gens and should have lost 100% but got a 4k solely because of tier 3 + infectious fright. Oni is like that too. There are killers where you could just play the game fishing for an insane snowball and end it in no time.
-
It entirely depends on what you want to do with Myers. If you're going for snowballs then you'd likely see a lot of success with Corrupt, Bamboozle, Infectious, and either Pop or M&A. I'd recommend M&A for more info from infectious, but some people don't like not having any gen slowdown outside of corrupt. I couldn't tell you how many games I've ended with one use of tier 3 with this build... Also, it feels really good when they've popped all the gens and make one bad move and you pop tier 3 and end up with 4 slugs.
-
It can be good, but it's not good on Demo sadly. Pop is much better for regression.
-
Personally I think they're a waste of 7k BP
-
9/10 SWFs aren't that good and ######### themselves over by playing cocky. Comms do not mean they win automatically. They'll have more information and that's it. Sure, you'll face the occasional SWAT team SWF and it sucks, but even they are beatable.
Your main problem right now is you lack experience and it's usually easy to tell when people are new to the game on both sides and people like to be mean to them. There are people with 10k plus hours in this game and you're just now starting. Don't let people try and get you scared of the SWF boogie man that's apparently gen rushing them and DSing them 4 times in a row before their adrenaline pops ever single game.
When you get a bit more game knowledge, hours under your belt, meta perks, and a killer you enjoy and learn you'll be 4king in no time.
-
I think Strangers would be really cool, but they’d just be licensed Legion lol

Thank you. You may not hear it from the people but I can guarantee that they appreciate that more than you know and more than they say. It not only helps them in game but I'm willing to bet in many cases you've helped to turn and bad day and a bad game experience into something that made them smile and feel good!
I tell you a funny story, well, I think it's funny.
I had a similar experience with a killer when I first started. This killer killed our teammates and there was me and this other fresh greenie running around being chased relentlessly by him. All the while I'm thinking n my head. "Why am I not dead yet? I should be dead. He ate my teammates like easy and they were way better than me. Why aren't I dead yet?" BTW if memory serves - zero gens had been completed, or maybe one. We were blowing up gens all over the place. It was so sad in a funny way.
So there is myself and my last teammate running around trying to do gens, running from the killer and getting smacked down. The killer then kept carrying us to the gens, kicking the gens and dropping us. Rinse and repeat. Instead of us having a clue - he'd drop and we'd book it the helk away. This went on for about 10 minutes.
Finally he killed us and in the end game chat he says.
"I've never in my life tried so hard to keep two people alive!"
of course we are not perplexed and I'm like... "but you were chasing us and going to kill us! You chase, we run - this is how it works." and then he says. "Listen, when a killer kicks the gen and drops you at it does he is telling you to finish the gens." DOH!!!!!
Oh yes did we feel silly. At least I did. LOL
It was so nice of him and I felt so bad that he was trying to help teach us and we totally failed to get it.
I'm very sure we frustrated the life out of him, but I can't say I didn't laugh so hard that tears were running down my face when I realized how daft the two of us were.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1449028#Comment_1449028
I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to put you on the spot. I meant that in a general sense:-)
Super sweet of you but please do not feel obligated if it's not up your alley. It's all good. It gave me an idea to think about seeing if some sort of grouping / learning might be helpful. I have to think on that more. Maybe people would be receptive to it - maybe not. I have to think more on the idea as I think it might not be a bad one.
If you ever want to test a new killer out on someone - absolutely message me. I'd be happy to be hung up on a hook for your experiments!
It’s all good I’d be happy to help. Someone has to be the K in the KYF. I’m sure a lot of people would be down with the idea. You could start a discord or something and have experienced people who want to help newer people learn join it. The game has a steep learning curve and some people need the help/practice without 20 minute queue times.

Thank you. It's a very nice warm welcome!
I couldn't agree more. Good thing I'm not a gambler. "One more game. I 'll do better this next game!" 10 games later. Why did I torment myself lol.
It can be good fun too, but I agree - frustration breaks seem to happen a lot.
LOL thank you. I'm hoping to try all the perks and see how they all fit together. ermm that could take awhile.

Thank you very much!
I sadly have notice a bit ermm.. okay a lot of toxicity.
I think we collectively can help with it though. Ignoring trolls helps. Trying to better to each other in game.
Peer pressure can be a very positive tool when used well. Collectively, I think we can either drive the real baddie out or show them there is a better way that will make them happier too. I like the latter one myself - but I know that won't work for everyone. Some people are happier being miserable and they love making others the same. Quite sad really.
:-D Right now I rang from - I did get as low at a 7 and stayed 8 for a bit - that was exciting! but usually between 9 - 12. As long as we are all having fun. :-)

Hi! *waves* I play on PC. I have to say I love that "Kill your friends" term. It makes me chuckle. I'm on EST as well.
I need practice pretty much on everything - I'm bad. This is not me being modest. Truly it's rather a funny kind of sad. I don't mind as I can laugh at myself. I get more upset when I let down a team, or I can see the killer had a really rough game.
The one true thing a troll said to me in chat, or close to true was "You are the worst gamer ever." My response. "Probably true." but I have heart!
Maybe we can all start a group. "Adopt a Noob" or something like that. Not the worst idea ever?
Well, I almost purely main killer. So, I probably wouldn’t be suuuuper helpful outside of basic looping strats. The more intricate parts of survivor I wouldn’t be super knowledgeable on outside of the perspective of it from the killer side. I honestly probably potato just as much as you on survivor. I’d be happy to run some loops with you though.

My advice as a killer Main. If you get owned, don’t stay for the end game chat. If you destroy them, tunnel, or camp, don’t stay for the end game chat. Whether they lose or win, 9/10 times they will have nothing nice to say. If you lose, it’s gg ez baby killer, if you win it’s zzzzzzzz boring killer crutch perk noed tunnel camper.
just play how YOU want, and remember a 2k is still good, don’t get disheartened when you don’t kill all four.
I personally love going into the endgame chat to watch people scramble for how it's not their fault and then insult their teammates. Most of my games end in a gg wp, but that could be because I main what seems to be a lot of people's favorite killer to verse after old Billy which is Myers, I guess. I get much nastier messages on GF.

Nope lmao

Here's the counterplay for all the killers, coming from a killer main:
- Trapper: Watch your feet, stay out of tall grass when not in a chase
- Billy: Look behind you, avoid taking paths that force you into a straight line
- Wraith: Use your eyes instead of your ears, or run Spine Chill
- Nurse: Break LOS, run in a straight line when she isnt charging a blink(she's slower than you at base)
- Myers: Break LOS as much as possible, delay him tiering up for as long as you can. Myers captilalizes on bad teams much more than most killers, so keep that in mind. Don't rely on the post-hit speed boost as he might have T3 at 99%
- Huntress: Break LOS, be careful about dropping pallets/vaulting when she has hatchets
- Hag: Watch your feet, crouch over traps to avoid triggering them, a flashlight will reveal/destroy them
- Doctor: Lockers are your friends, stay out of his terror radius or get in a locker if 60 seconds have passed since his last shock blast. Drop the pallet/vault a bit earlier to counter the shock
- Clown: Drop the pallet early if he gasses you, theres plenty to go around thanks to his nonexistant map pressure
- Freddy: Stay awake as much as possible, either by skill checks(risky) or going to a clock(safer, plus gives a 30 second grace period). Drop dream pallets/break dream snares as you travel to weaken his control, drop the pallet early if he drops snares mid-chase
- Legion: Spilt up, his power is much weaker if he cant hit all of you. Don't forget to mend
- Bubba: Use windows as much as possible, as he can't break them. If somebody gets hooked in the basement, they are to be considered lost and you should rush the gens.
- Pig: Use your eyes or run spine chill to detect her in crouch, watch out for her roar. The trap is entirely harmless until a gen pops, so theres plenty of time to get it off. It also pauses the timer in a chase or on the ground
- Plague: Depends on your looping abilty. If you are good at running an M1 killer around, dont bother cleansing, UNLESS the other survivors cleanse. Keep in mind that if all the pools get corrupted, they all get cleaned and the plague gets nothing
- Ghostface: Again, use your eyes. Don't rely on the TR or Red Stain, and don't bother with Revealing him. Just run as fast and far as possible, he has no mobility.
- Demogorgon: Literally use your ears, every single one of his actions have a global audio queue. Remember to look behind you to see if his face is opening to juke a shred. NEVER vault a window if the Demo's face is open, you WILL get hit if they are good. Rememeber that while you are in contact with an open portal, you will not hear the Demogorgon's Terror Radius.
- Oni: Heal as soon as possible, preferably somewhere far away from objectives so the Oni won't have easy access to the resulting blood orbs. NEVER do a gen while injured, you will make the Oni's job FAR easier
- Deathslinger: Use your eyes instead of your ears, his TR is microscopic, especially since any good Slinger will have Monitor. Avoid going in a straight line, look behind you, and drop the pallet early
- Pyramid Head: Mixture of Hag and Demo. His trails are harmless if you crouch over them, and his M2 is easily dodged if you look behind you. Avoid dropping pallets or vaulting windows if his sword is in the ground. Also keep in mind that Torment has no effect on normal gameplay. The only downsides are leaving a short-lived trail whenever you move, and being able to be caged/morid on death hook. Most PHs will not cage unless its late game due to removing the possiblity of saving the third hook, along with not being able to see cages.
Don't let them know Ghosties hardest counter is eyesight and holding W. C'mon
-
What platform do you play on? If you need practice looping I’m sure a lot of people would be happy to go into KYF with you and run some.

*Why should Billy be able to cross the map five times and back rev 4 survivors in a row and the only bit of thought it took was some mind gaming?*
Why should any killer be able to down someone quickly when all it takes is some mind gaming? Mind gaming is the main portion of this game that makes or breaks who wins. In the same vein that someone skilled with Huntress can down someone fast, it takes skill which balances how fast and how strong it can be. I'd even argue that out of any killer that can quickly down a survivor (Huntress, Billy, Oni, Deathslinger, Plague with corrupt, Bubba) Billy is possibly the one with the most counterplay to his power. Among high level swf players Billy is generally considered low on the high tier list (Scariest being a good nurse but you never see that).
*Without innate ways for the game to prevent giving the killer easy wins through tunneling, camping, and slugging they had to introduce perks to counter them.*
Yes this is true, they bandaided the situation and it could use more robust changes. But the more overarching problem with the meta being stale is that nearly every perk in the game is bad. They almost never make perk changes and their perk changes are often disappointing. Take the new changes, Franklin's is worthless, Knock Out is worthless, Lightborn is worthless (past low rank), Tinkerer has some potential. 1/4 changes is decent, not competitive, but decent and could work on a less serious build. So very many perks need buffs and if they did actually buff perks, not make a minor tweak but a good buff, then the meta would shake up and you'd see more builds.
And at the end of everything, this is what really upsets me. EVERYONE says Billy is in a good spot and well balanced with no changes. EVERYONE says that 90% of perks are not well balanced and need changes. And what do they spend time and resources on? Changing the one top tier Killer that nobody was upset with. Continue to ignore large community outcry including big streamers from both killer and survivor sides saying Billy should stay the same. And make a few token perk changes just for killers that largely will change nothing of the perk meta.
It's upsetting to see the devs fail to deliver what people can all agree on needs changes, and instead go on a tangent to change something the majority wants to stay the same, likely to appease low rank players while once more ignoring the high rank audience. It's equally upsetting to see people defending those decisions and pat them on the back for stubbornly ignoring the community and charging forward with a change that so very many people oppose.
You missed my point. He can traverse the map insanely fast and also instadown and snowball insanely well. It makes complete sense that they would go ahead and give him a nerf like the overheat mechanic. Plague is barely played so I seriously doubt BHVR thinks about balancing her much, Oni already has a cooldown/limiting factor to his ability, and Deathslinger is actually pretty low tier. I wouldn't loop him into a group of powerhouses like that. Huntress has counter play. More counter play than Billy.
Every perk they changed with this balance was made better. Are they going to get used? No, but that has nothing to do with the Billy nerf or the community being sheeple. They're clearly scared to add any meta powerful perks. The last good perk they added was Thrilling and that was back when Ghostface dropped and it has a cool down that's way to long. I don't think the people realize how difficult it would be for the devs to just change the meta without breaking the game.
I get that you and a lot of people are upset, but at the end of the day Billy had no limiting factor to his power and the Devs weren't happy about that. They said he was MOSTLY fine, meaning they didn't agree that he was perfectly balanced (as all things should be). If the changes to the heating mechanic are even just decent he'll still be great and just have an additional mechanic to think about. The Billy mains will live.
