*Anyone that was good with Billy still will be good and overheating will barely be a problem*
Anyone that was good with Billy showed that it is a massive problem. The new numbers might bandaid it a bit, but the problem is still there and that problem is turning Billy into mainly an M1 killer and making him less fun.
*Even if he isn’t high tier, guess what? Meta changes*
This would be a fine statement if they actually did big meta changes but they don't. The survivor meta has been the same for years and years now. Most killer perks have been the same for a while as well. If they ever did massive overhauls to the game's meta then I'd be fully on board for this statement, but they just don't. A change like this means Billy will remain trash for a good long time, and pray to god there aren't any bugs because Nurse has shown us they don't care to fix them.
*Wait you have to build up Oni’s power. Why isn’t he at the bottom of the tier lists when he can’t sprint at you and instadowns you 100% of the time.*
Oni's power has far far far more control than Billys, doesn't bump into walls, can flick, and in the late game after hitting enough people is functionally infinite due to large amounts of blood orbs. Since oni's power has SO MUCH more control to it, it's fine to be temporary because you can chase MUCH easier.
*It’s almost like it’s not going to ruin a killer to have a drawback to their amazing power.*
What they're doing is effectively removing Billy's amazing power and giving him a teleport. The only time it can be used to down is for a back rev as it is now. The changes might help a little, but it will likely be largely the same because BHVR sucks at this stuff.
From everything I’ve heard about the new changes it seems like they’re good. Billy has the best map pressure in the game second to one and the chick can teleport. Why should Billy be able to cross the map five times and back rev 4 survivors in a row and the only bit of thought it took was some mind gaming? I’d argue that Oni doesn’t have so much more control when his power is up sure, but Billy has more over the course of the whole game and immediately. Oni can be starved of his power by survivors forcing him to be an m1 killer if they can avoid hits long enough. A bit like how survivors starve Myers of stalk.
I think overheating should be an after thought and not happen much and it looks like that’s what the devs are going for with the next set of changes. I don’t think he needed the added mechanic, but I can see why they did it and I’m not upset about it. That doesn’t make me easily controlled or manipulated.
On the survivor meta never changing... That’s more of an overarching design problem with the game. Without innate ways for the game to prevent giving the killer easy wins through tunneling, camping, and slugging they had to introduce perks to counter them. Those perks are always going to be meta until they either nerf them or add more powerful ones and god I don’t want them to add more powerful ones. Nerfs would work, but if they nerfed them too little they would still be overused and if they did it too much they’d be useless. If all killers were exactly the same and just different skins you’d likely see a lot of the same exact build. You already do for some killers.

Buff solos to have similar info and then buff killers accordingly.

Yeah billy will surely be "high tier" as they turn him into an M1 killer that occasionally gets a back saw in a dead zone. With a skill that's essentially a loud Demo teleport on slightly shorter cooldown. Even very good Billy mains couldn't make curving and flicking work with how ######### overheat is. And the changes to the overheat are minor at best so the problem will still persist. In addition they nerfed the add-ons that were problems harshly, to less than 50% their effectiveness they used to have and then gave him some trash new add-ons.
I can't believe anyone can look at this butchering and think he'll be high tier. People who tried him and found any success only used the saw purely for transport and a backsaw in a dead zone. They turned Billy into what is essentially a basic M1 killer and that's a middle ground to you?
They changed the numbers. Anyone that was good with Billy still will be good and overheating will barely be a problem. They also implied on the forums that they were going to change his addons after the PTB went live.
Even if he isn’t high tier, guess what? Meta changes. Play Oni and flick... Wait you have to build up Oni’s power. Why isn’t he at the bottom of the tier lists when he can’t sprint at you and instadowns you 100% of the time. It’s almost like it’s not going to ruin a killer to have a drawback to their amazing power.

Another person already said it but the dev blog back then was pretty much exactly what was said. Ruin negatively impacted newer players, and also that was when they started working towards removing gen slowdown all together. They want blindly fast matches and that's how we've ended up.
So that was all the reason they needed to basically take it out of the game, and the only remaining part of the post was them basically saying that it was horribly inconsistent because of the several layers of RNG attached to it so killers wouldn't miss it anyways. Then they yeeted it into the ol' scrapper.
I already responded to the person that said it. I know why they nerfed it. I said it wasn’t because it was overused. It was because why it was overused. Which the Devs outlined as their reasoning for why they nerfed it. I personally think new ruin is more fun anyways.

He’s probably the most balanced killer in the game already. His perks are trash though but it has nothing to do with him. Run meta builds.
Demo could use some changes. Making him not scream whenever he does literally anything for starters. It’s pretty dumb that he makes it so obvious he’s using a portal. His power is alright and rat liver should honestly be basekit. All his addons are also trash excluding rat liver. He’s not the most balanced killer lol

Nah man, they nerfed it because newer players couldn't hit a great skill check so they literally couldn't play the game. IF they nerfed it for WHY it was overused, there would've been more large sweeping gen changes. It was to make sure new players would have a shot at playing.
That’s why it was overused. Because people can’t constantly hit greats and it overly effected new players. It single handily slowed down the whole game with no issue or work from the killer. It still does. Ruin is still a good perk and can be downright nasty in combination with some other perks. Surveillance specifically. It’s not like they gutted it. They just made it not skill check based which is fine.

Honestly I dont trust the data. It only works when the devs feel like using it.
X amount of matches had ruin, nerf ruin.
X amount of matches have DS, do nothing?
As for the hillbilly changes. I fear this is going to be like the nurse rework. It will weaken the killer, less people will play them and more will switch to spirit. If they even stick around. Hope to the Entity that there's no bugs in billys rework because if it's anything like nurses. Those bugs will not be fixed.
They didn’t nerf ruin because it was overused. They nerfed it because of WHY it was overused.
-
Only the obsession you say? People would just run NOED, Blood Warden, Nemesis, and either PWYF or Enduring. They’d get a down, eat a pallet, and get another down. Rinse and repeat.
People would complain about NOED just the same and even more possibly because you can’t even cleanse it.
-
A 2v8 mode could actually make Pig nasty if paired with a killer than can patrol very well.
Plague and Freddy would make the game take 2 years.
Legion paired with any other killer would be busted.
8 perks would also be pretty insane. You could have Ruin, Surveillance, Pop, and Corrupt while leaving 2 more perks for both killers to use to help with chases and/or info. Any killer combo would likely be pretty wild in a lot of ways.
Basically no part of this game would be balanced for a 2v8 mode and it would likely be broken af survivor sided too. 32 perks split among 8 people.

I don't know if he'd be B tier in a no perk/ no add on list just solely on his how long it takes his power to charge. He does have his maps like all stealth killers but his base 30 seconds power recharge is pretty heavy IMO.
True. He definitely jumps up when it comes to using perks. A Ghostface with a set of good info perks and corrupt can ruin a team of survivors. I don’t think he’s super addon reliant like some people think, but if you’re getting downs with it it’s not so bad. After a down and a hook the powers basically back up.

You can hide a red stain & crouching make you smaller so in loops you may not know which way hes coming.
Addonless I wouldn’t waste a nightshroud for a single mind game though. If you’re getting your power back every 16 seconds with addons it can work.
-
Yeah, the community that cries everyday on the forums about the same thing for months straight is “easily controlled” because they can find a middle ground on one thing for one killer who’s still going to be high tier. Especially with changes on the time for overheating.
-
In what world is Ghostface good at chases? He’s a basic M1 killer. His strength doesn’t lie in chases or map control. His strength is being able to bother everyone and keep them injured while taking free hits because he has the best stealth in the game. He’s not a killer you should even be chasing with.
In my opinion he’d fall into mid B on my tier list.
-
I’m going to guess nothing anyone actually wants.
-
As a killer main all playing immersed seems to actually do from my point of view is force me vs 3 people instead of 4. You’re actively hindering the team by not taking my attention. In the wider view of things you’re 2 addition hook states for your team that you’re wasting by always hiding.

Well heres the thing right, you don't "HAVE" to kill the obsession immediately, if they're in the way and you catch them on a good loop, theres no sense in not hooking them at least 1 time. I mean if they wanna counter your dying light at that point they have to kill themselves. You're gonna get at least 3 stacks of it off before the 2nd gen pops if you know your killer. If you catch the obsession between that point sure you get less, but again as I've mentioned before, the obsession can't be everywhere at one time to utilize that healing buff, and on top of that its "ONLY" a healing buff. They still get action speed reductions on gen times and whatever else. So its not being wasted. If people wanna keep running toward the obsession to heal themselves (considering I also mentioned carrying franklins, which will dumpster their attempts to self heal without self care) (If they try to self care through those reductions thats EVEN MORE TIME, they aren't spending on a gen.) It all compounds off itself giving you more time to complete chases. And if you bring Thrilling, its basically a free BBQ at that point. You have 2-3 people injured and rambling around trying to heal, you have 1 person on a hook, you have 1 person working on a gen, you run to that gen knock them, hook them, kick the gen, and keep rolling from there. No matter how you cut it, by the time they have 2 gens left, or even 1 gen left, you've either killed 2 people by this point (not the obsession), and have 6 to 7 stacks of dying light, and 2 stacks of thano.....they aren't gonna finish that gen if you have a character that can patrol it.
Does this build work on all killers? No. As you mention corrupt is great, but only for the first 2 minutes. Some killers can ignore those first 2 minutes and don't need that in their kit, like Doc, Freddy, Pig, and Plague...<----All of which have great built in secondary objectives to stall for time. If you're on ghostface sure, you're gonna wanna run corrupt. You don't have a huge skillcheck debuff and tracking, you don't have puzzle traps, you don't have nightmares, and you can't force people to cure a disease. But that doesn't change the fact that when you're stacking those slowdown perks (aside from sloppy) those gen times are going down....period. No matter if you buff the obsession to have 100% heal speed......doesn't matter....the gen times are going down. <---Which is the target in the first place. I personally don't recommend pop....I mean it does what it says it does sure. But, its got a cooldown, and forces you to path toward a gen instead of immediately engage on another chase. And in the pigs world (which I would hope applies to other killers) Nobody has time for that....I would rather spend my time getting more hooks, and knocking people off the ability to touch a gen in the first place, than spend time walking toward gens while you go and do a completely different one. If I'm not on top of my prey...at all times...I'm losing.
From what I know Pig’s world is different than most killers world. I almost never see anyone play plague or pig. Doc and Freddy I don’t think need pure slowdown.
I’m not gonna tell you what to run. If it works for you that’s all that matters, but in my experience with killers I play I either don’t have fun making that game take forever or it doesn’t feel like it would have benefited me more than some other builds.
I don’t even run the general killer build I recommended on my Ghostface because he doesn’t need chase perks. I run Corrupt, Thrilling or BBQ, Nurses, and Discordance. Knowing where everyone is and being able to just turn off your TR means you’re gonna give the survivors a real bad time.
On killers that really capitalize on slowdown I think the build isn’t terrible. Like we both said Legion, Freddy, Pig, and Plague could use it well, but I don’t think most of the cast of killers would capitalize as well and would do better with their own builds centered around their play style.

Dying light is far from overrated. I usually get 7 stacks into a game snowballing and stacking on top of the thano stacks, if you're moving around and throwing survivors off of gens it compounds this effect. Corrupt is mediocre, its great for killers who need a long set up like Myers or trapper or hag, but for the rest of the roster you're better off stacking slown down perks on top of thrilling tremors. Or, you could be dock and stack Surge on top of distressing.
Having to run to a generator to stop it wastes too much time. You should be snowballing and moving from chase to chase non stop.
Not all killers can just “snowball” though and if they do it’s because the survivors made some massive misplays. There are only a few that can truly do it. Even with Dying light, Sloppy, and Thana it’s not going to slow heals enough to get the survivors to just not heal and be free one shots. It’s hard for a none stealth killer to really even profit from spending that many perk slots on just slowing heals. Even Tru3Talent the guy who vouches that Wraith and Ghostface are top tiers if you use antiheal only uses two perks and only one of them slows down heals. Sloppy. Nurses is just an information perk that’s complimented by -slightly- slower heal times.
Dying Light is 100% overrated. Think about it. It starts the game off buffing a survivor with no downside and then slowly builds throughout the game to slow the other three. With Dying Light you have to ignore the obsession because if you kill them it deactivates and that’s a waste of a perk slot. You’re going to be chasing one of the 3 survivors it effects at any given time, meaning at most it’s only ever going to be effecting two people. It also is actively fighting against your slowdown “snowball” build as the obsession gets a 33% buff to healing speed. Thana isn’t going to be able to give it’s mediocre slowdown if the obsession is still healing faster than base speed because of Dying Light. The only killers it could be annoying on is Freddy and Legion, but there are better Legion builds out there.
Corrupt is great. The fact that it cuts off the gens the survivors are most likely to spawn on and forcing them towards you is great for just about every killer because the early game is the only point where they have zero pressure. It’s certainly not needed, but it’s better than Dying Light and Thana.
If you don’t like pop, the best slowdown perk in the game, then you could always run Ruin and Surveillance. The hex will usually be up for a bit and get you some really good mileage. A mix of info and gen regression.
Thrilling is one of the best information perks in the game though. I agree with using that. Thrilling plus pop is actually a very good combo. It shows you where people are on gens so you can apply pressure and give a quick kick while you’re at it.

The ease with which you can bully huntress is dependant on both the skill of the killer and the map. In general, she's very easy to bully on maps that don't favor her playstyle (Lery's, Ormond, Gideon)
I've never considered Freddy boring and I honestly think the posts coming at him are salt posts, same with Oni. They're targeted in "unfun killer" posts because those killers are able to pressure all survivors. Spirit hasn't even been a problem for a while, but that's for another thread.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1441027#Comment_1441027
Scott's points about deathslinger were complete nonsense and have already been addressed in this thread. he complains that slinger can "just keep taking shots over and over again" which is straight up untrue, because he has to stop and reload after every shot, losing enough ground to reset the chase. His complaints about deathslinger's popshots are traits of a GOOD deathslinger and something that most can't pull off.
The problem with balancing around "fun" first and foremost is that "fun" is completely subjective. The game is already fun, and if the problem isn't balance-related, characters shouldn't be messed with over such an opinionated thing as them being "unfun" in the eyes of others in the lobby. Clearly that character is fun in their player's eyes.
Oh, I don’t think Deathslinger is boring. Just like I don’t think DS and Unbreakable are the worst things to exist. My point was mostly that people shouldn’t really lean so much on the opinions of content creators. Like how they all made posts about his unfun killers video but none about his unfun perk video.
My main grievance was you thinking the game shouldn’t be measured on fun and that the only unfun killers to people are top tiers. I think the first thing that should be considered for a killer and their power is how fun it is and then you balance it around the game. There are things that are objectively unfun.
I think Huntress is much like Nurse in the way that if someone is just amazing with them you’re going to be having a real bad time in that trial.
Freddy in general is fine. I’ve only seen people complain about the full slowdown build for him. I also tend to only hear good things about Oni.

Technically it wasn’t. A debate is when you argue about opposing opinions. I never argued that Spirit wasn't targeted before or that due to Billy being nerfed, she’s being targeted now. Sure, the title of my topic says that, but I was unaware she was heavily targeted before because I’ve taken multiple long breaks from DBD Forums.
Yes it echoed, but with me included which would deem you bringing up the same thing I agree with and I’ve been corrected of invalid which is why I said what I said. @ClickyClicky already made this clear to me on the first page that Spirit has been a target which I didn’t oppose.
It didn’t bother me, I just like to point out things that I don’t want to continuously run circles around in my thread when there are bigger discussions at hand about the things that actually matter, like Spirit being unfun to others, strategies on how to help people feel more confident in playing against her, opinions that differ from my “she’s fun to play against” statement. Not what you decided to post.
Your original premise was “A LOT OF PEOPLE TARGETING SPIRIT NOW THAT BILLY IS NERFED...” That alone comes with some inherent beliefs. First is that people complained about Billy first and then got him nerfed. No one wanted Billy nerfed by the way. Everyone wanted an addon overhaul. The second is that after that nerf they all decided that Sprirt was the next witch to hunt.
So, me making an off the cuff remark about the topic and the title you gave it before I read deeper into the thread is completely warranted.
Onto Spirit and people calling for a nerf. I believe she needs one. Simply giving a visual tell that she’s started phasing would make everyone happy and only effect her 50/50s at pallets. I think that’s a fair request. I don’t think she needs a rework. I think overall she’s fine.
I think most killers need buffs to bring them to the level needed for the current state of the game tbh.

Yet they rate Freddy, Oni and Spirit (the good killers) as unfun while clown, trapper and huntress (easy to bully) are at the top of their lists
Please tell me what the problem with deathslinger is then
And he tops the comment off with an ad-hominem
What game are you playing where clown is considered fun by survivors? Freddy with a slowdown build IS boring. Also, a good huntress isn’t easy to bully.
-
Are we forgetting that Scott also made a video highlighting how he thinks DS and Unbreakable are both unfun perks? It’s not just “easy to bully”. People liked going against Billy. People like going against Myers and the only way to bully him is to starve him of stalk which isn’t exactly easy.
Clown is unfun to go against. Legion is commonly called unfun to go against. Those are two of the easiest killers to bully. Not to mention the main discussion of his video was Deathslinger a far from powerful killer. I’d say the only top tier killer that can and does get called unfun often is Spirit and for mostly good reasons.
To the point though... Why would you not measure your game off it being fun? I’d say that’s the most important part of the game. Second comes balance. If the game or parts of the game aren’t fun the balance doesn’t exactly matter because people aren’t enjoying themselves as is.

Ghostface is Nurse, Discordance, BBQ or Thrilling, and Corrupt. This build is more for hitting and running, using all the knowledge of where and what survivors are doing for free hits and downs.
Myers is Bamboozle, Corrupt, Infectious, and either Monitor or Pop. Obviously this build is all about trying to snowball. I don’t run rare addons because I’m stingy so it’s more for basic Myers addons.

Also, don’t run this build. Dying light is overrated. Franklins isn’t worth the perk slot. NOED just teaches you bad habits. Thana also isn’t worth it. Corrupt tends to be great on most killers. Pop if you want a reliable slow down. If you really like ruin you should run it with surveillance. Your other two-three perks should differ from killer to killer. They could be chase perks like enduring, bamboozle, or STBFL. Infectious for killers who snowball. Info perks for killers that capitalize on it the best. Like Ghostface. I run corrupt and 3 info perks on my Ghostface because he doesn’t need the chase perks as you don’t really chase with him.

It is unfun for you, others enjoy going against her. You can keep the fun part completely to yourself and is utterly irrelevant as it was fun for most people to verse a billy and he just got gutted.
the only thing people complained about with billy was his lame addons. He was a perfectly balanced killer. I main killer so spirit getting nerfed or not effects me just about 0%.
I can still recognize when a killer is lame though and I’ve never met someone who thinks spirit is fun. You could provide an example other than “guess where she is with a flashlight” to show she’s balanced and fun.
”the mk community is little whiners” I think you meant the whole fighting game community. You go to any fighting game and people are begging for nerfs and whining about pointless things.

And he couldn't be more wrong about it.
So tired of the mimimi, no counterplay wahwah, jes you people would get demolished in any fighting game.
I played mk 9 and mk x from it’s release to the release of mk 11 and I still actively play mk 11. I wouldn’t start pretending that fighting games are these glorious games that you need megamind skills to play.
also, fighting game communities have some of the biggest whiners when it comes to asking for nerfs and changes. Take a chill pill.
Spirit absolutely is unfun to go against though. Her gameplay loop boils down to stopping at a dropped pallet and staring for a bit before either phasing to get the hit or mind gaming them into revaulting the pallet negating any actual skillful play on the survivors part. The killer is a simple 50/50 killer with not real skillful counter play. I don’t think she needs a huge nerf. There just needs to be a visual cue for when she starts her phasing.

For min terror radius just play Myers with monitor and abuse and dead rabbit for an insanely small tier 2 TR.
You could also play Ghostface and use a whole zero perks on changing your TR since he's the best stealth killer in the game.

Monitor and abuse would be a great addition. It would make your TR fluctuate and confuse survivors. The build would work best on doctor... For obvious reasons.
