Best beginner perk for me was technician. If you have trouble with skill checks definitely that.
-
@ReneAensland when I get juked legit I don't get mad. It does take skill. But when it's bs like auto-lock makes me hit the wall I get sorta upset.
-
How to make Freddy good: Literally have the sleep transition interrupt actions.
-
@Juya did you start playing just before? There's lists on the steam forums and maybe here (not sure) that detail all the nerfs both sides have received. Killers' have received A LOT more.
-
No.
The buff it brings to BT is atrocious. -
@Powerbats then Gen rush. I rarely ever see unprovoked camping because it's a terrible strategy. I hate camping just as much as the next person. I usually suicide on the hook. But it's not effective. If a killer hard camps there's no reason you shouldn't get at least 3 gens done.
-
I've seen this once when my brother was playing lol. Smh 3 red ranks queuing up with a rank 18. I took over and 4kd then messaged them lol.
-
@Powerbats were you on the closest gen? I've seen them behind a gen, it's definitely a counter that takes quite a bit of skill. I fully advocate having thicker gen auras.
-
@Powerbats hiding behind gens is one of the counters to BBQ that takes more skill. It's rare to see all 4 survivors do it. I'm perfectly fine with making Gen auras thicker. I worded that wrong, it doesn't explicitly tell you but it can be reasonably assumed. I understand that, but that is still weak.
-
@Powerbats I've had it work a lot more times than not. Don't know if that's because killer didn't see me or because it was easier to find someone else. I heard Gen auras are a lot thicker in the ptb. I'm fine with that. I would rather have one of the counters buffed than a brain dead easy one introduced.
-
@Powerbats that's a nerf. How can you phrase it otherwise? You don't get the hard aura reading and it's for less time? Ok cool, I know that no one is within 20 meters. Except current BBQ does that but to a lesser extent. If I don't see 3 auras I can assume someone is close by. Most of the time there isn't a direct path. This is in spite of the fact BBQ is fine now.
-
It's not a slight nerf. It's massive and now if you get detected by it you are just bad at survivor. Literally hop in any locker for >10 seconds.
-
@powerbats most gens can be used to hide. We can say that sure, but first we have to admit if someone is downed regularly and hooked the perk is fine. We can't use the minority to justify the majority.
-
@Powerbats that's still only 16 meters. Just because it's a hard aura reading doesn't mean it is good. Nurses Calling is 28m. 16 meters is such a small distance. If it wasn't, boil over would be a good perk. I don't know the exact distance, but 16m is laughable. It's not broken now. Rarely ever is there a straight path to a survivor. Even then killer has to charge ability, and they don't get there instantly (except nurse with distance add-ons). I saw that, you get what 1 second? That's also insanely small. This is such a massive nerf to an already balanced perk.
-
@Nickenzie but the aura reading as of now is fine. There's what 8 counters? Ardetha counted them on stream the other day.
-
The current BBQ is fine. The aura-reading is mediocre, but the bp bonus is what makes it worth it. It is strong on killers like spirit, billy, and nurse, but not too strong. There usually isn't a clear path to a survivor you spot with BBQ. You just get the general area if not. It's a time saver, instead of having to patrol all the gens you can catch survivors if they are lazy. It helps apply gen pressure. This perk isn't necessary to do so but it helps. If you want a rework you have to have the new version just as strong as the old or then it's a buff or a nerf. This is a nerf because 16m is essentially nothing. People that hide from BBQ hide at the edge of the terror radius (from my experience). 16m is half of the terror radius. This rework allows the same counterplay, but a worse overall perk. 2 seconds? That's enough time to catch someone if they aren't behind a gen and are just standing there. You get so little use out of BBQ if you use it to tell if people are around the hook. Survivors already have time to fake their direction, with 1-2 seconds you don't even need to. This seems like a massive nerf. If I misunderstood something please elaborate.
-
@Nickenzie reversing it and showing the auras within 16m? Maybe if the range was buffed. 16m isn't anything, if it was boil over would be a lot better perk. The biggest problem is BBQ was fine before. Changing for the sake of change is dumb.
-
@Nickenzie Like with rancor? That works as long as the range is infinite.
-
@ReneAensland it doesn't even really matter. I don't care which side of that argument is right I'm just using the 4v16 because I've yet to see it proven wrong. If it's that big of a deal let me change it to "potential" of 4v16
-
@Visionmaker Is that supposed to prove the 4v16 argument wrong? Multiple people can run the same perk, I'm not sure what your point is.
-
@altruistic you can only track with your eyes/ears if you have the general location. Yes, when did I say the nerf to BBQ will cause all survivors to never get downed/hooked/sacrificed again? It's not a "free" aura. You have to hook someone first.
I can't speak for others, but when I have said that I meant the BP bonus made up for the mediocre aura reading perk.
I wouldn't, it's a waste of a slot pretty much. NC can be countered by not healing in terror radius, BBQ can be countered by hiding in a locker, in the killers terror radius, or behind a gen. Am I missing any good aura reading perks distortion counters? -
@Mister_xD some people just can't be pleased. They wanna complain about camping but then wanna nerf the biggest incentive not to camp? It's stupid.
-
@altruistic it's not an aura nerf, it's a killer nerf. None of the survivors aura reading perks are impacted at all by this change. If you're gonna insult me for complaining about an idiotic change at least call it the right thing.
-
Dead by daylight movie. Or an announcement that there will be a community cosmetic contest where the community designs cosmetics, we vote, and the best one(s) win.
-
@EntityDispleased it's a time saver on any killer. If I play say hag, I hook someone then see 2 people on a Gen across the map I can go straight there and apply pressure. As opposed to checking all the Gens with no clue where they are.
-
@Vietfox if you can show me why that argument is pointless I'll concede it. Plus that doesn't really have any impact on my main argument which is this patch un-necessarily nerfs BBQ while buffing survivors' meta perks and not touching the one that everybody hates despite a rework having been promised awhile ago.
-
@JanTheMan the problem is it's 4 perks against 16. The blood point bonus is what made the mediocre aura reading ability worth running. And BBQ was balanced before this, the nerf is completely un-necessary.
-
Devs are too busy nerfing BBQ.
-
When people say "I only use BBQ for the points" it's both true and false depending on how literally you take that statement. What I'm assuming most people mean is the bonus blood points made up for the mediocre aura-reading ability.
-
@purebalance Time optimization is stupid? In a game with a large objective time inbalance?
-
They would rather nerf/introduce more counterplay to BBQ.
-
Also they removed the fact you have to have self care to heal yourself to normal. Takes less time than a full health state. And just to make killers get nice and shafted made killer perks not impact mending. Honestly until this patch I was happy the devs were finally listening to killers and making the game more balanced. Then they hit us with this.
-
@Morfedel it wasn't reduced massively from what I know. It was reduced 5 seconds. It was fine before. Having it count down in a chase is what balanced it. Even though the timer was reduced (literally meaningless change btw they could reduce it to 10 seconds and it would be fine) you one don't have to heal a full health state anymore, two don't need self-care to prevent yourself from going down, and 3 my biggest problem with the buff is its un-necessary. Borrowed time was already meta and already perfect.
-
How to balance BT: Leave it alone because it is already amazing.
-
@White_Owl BT was/is a meta perk. It punishes the killer for playing smart. It already did what it's supposed to do. Just a LOT better. Now you mend instead of heal which doesn't require self-care, is a lot quicker, and no longer impaced by killer perks that effect healing.
-
@MegaWaffle if you use distortion to hide from bbq that's a waste of a perk. Now it's brain-dead easy to counter. Literally jump in a locker when the killer picks someone up. Most you wait is I believe 16 seconds? Nobody is going to use BBQ anymore. This completely nerfs it into the ground. When people said they only used it for the blood points, it was true. The bloodpoint gain made the mediocre at best perk worthwhile. If you get caught by BBQ after this patch you are just bad.
-
@Cetren think of it this way. I don't know of anyone who runs self care in case of a borrowed time save. Then think of this, mend takes less time, doesn't require a perk to fix, and now the bar doesn't go down in chase. This new version is astoundingly stronger, borrowed time before was absolutely perfect. This is ridiculous.
-
@Avariku Actually yes, that is my main argument. That tunneling/camping are legit playstyles. How can you even argue against that when you even admit the devs said it's a legit playstyle? They are trying to discourage it because even though it is a strategy it still isn't fun for the survivor. What, that camping is toxic? I've never claimed otherwise. It's scummy but it's usually either due to a new killer or it was provoked. It's a losing strategy and if the killer gets more than one kill that's the survivors fault for not being able to punish it properly. They are actively buffing something THAT ALREADY WORKED TO COUNTER IT AND WAS ALREADY META. I'm arguing the buff was un-necessary. Borrowed time already countered tunneling/camping perfect and no killers had any complains. At this point it I really have no clue what your point even is other than camping and tunneling is bad which I agreed but also said it's a legit playstyle and buffing an already meta perk that counters this is, for lack of a better word, stupid.
-
@Avariku that's a legit playstyle like it or not. That's a bad argument that because some people are toxic we all suffer. Is crouching removed because some survivors teabag? Are flashlights removed because some people act really toxic with them? Do we remove DS even though anyone not new using it is toxic? No, we don't punish the vast majority of players due to a small number of toxic idiots. BT can lead to just as much toxicity as camping. The person who brought ds, a flashlight, teabags at every opportunity, finally gets down twice and you hook them. Then you camp them to get sweet revenge and theor teammate runs up and gets them off the hook with borrowed time. They take maybe one hit before sprint bursting/using some perk that causes exhaustion to get away (exhaustion resets on hook now, yet another counter to camping) then reaches exit gates and teabags. Non-PTB BT is a race. If you can't get there quick enough you will collapse or killer will gain enough distance to smack you. It's fine and balanced as it is now. The buff is poorly thought out and incredibly unnecessary.
-
@Avariku many things have already been done. They were re-balancing the game and starting to stop making every thing so survivor sided so killers would have no need to camp. Plus multiple perks were brought in to incentivize not camping and this worked well. I rarely ever encounter people above rank 15 that hardcore face camp for no reason. Borrowed time was already a thing, and it was already good. This is complete overkill. How can you like this? This patch ALSO nerfs the biggest incentive for not camping into the ground. BBQ will become a terrible perk after this patch goes live.
-
I think Legion is just like spirit. Some tweaks and possibly a top tier killer. As of right now it looks like something that could make this happen is allowing injured survivors not impacted by deep wounds to be downed by the frenzy attack.
-
@BigBubs I don't have a problem with the new killers power inflicting this status effect. I think it's a weak status effect that needs some tweaks. That being said the killer has only been out a few hours. I'm not making a definitive conclusion, just sayin what it looks like as of now. This is OP to have on borrowed time. Killers can't just chase them and let them drop, now they have to land an extra hit for no reason. It's mind-boggling how poorly thought out this change is.
-
Yes! This is such a massive buff. The more threads I see on this the better. It's impossible to defend, BT was already meta and it was fine. Zero reason for this buff.
-
@Visionmaker did they dodge swf groups? What killer/perks did they use? How many matches were played and how many kills did they average? There was also a depip experiment and 94% of games depipped the killer I believe. I don't need to facecamp either, if I camp it's either to 3 Gen or proxy.
-
@Visionmaker thats untrue. Camping is a terrible strategy. If the survivors are even semi-competent they can pop 3 gens minimum. The best way to deter is to incentivize not doing it. Self-care has nothing to do with this. The patch nerfs BBQ into the ground, the counter is so brain dead easy now it's insane. But they buff BT? How does that make any sense?
-
@purebalance BT only triggers if you unhook in the killers TR. That's an unsafe unhook. Camping already has a punishment gen rush and it works perfectly. It was perfect before. I had no problems but this buff is ridiculously unnecessary.
-
@Visionmaker distortion really only counters NC. If someone uses it for any other reason they obviously don't know hiding in lockers disables aura readings.
-
@HellDescent I can't believe there aren't more threads complaining about this. Or even the patch in general, insanely buffs survivors.
-
@TreblucFayle tunneling isn't a problem. Unsafe unhooks are. If someone unhooks in the killer's face that deserves to be punished. Not the killer for playing smart. I know, that's how it got buffed and why I'm complaining lol. Mend (to the extent of my knowledge) takes less time to complete than healing a health state. Which you used to have to do to get out of the borrowed time effect. I would much rather face an insta-heal with current bt than the new version at all.
