What kind of Developers wait to fix an actual game breaking bug in the next update? They should just push it live ASAP
You won't get any argument from me. But this is BHVR. That's why Overwatch is my main game. I just play this one on the side when bored. They want to run it like a cheap indie game? I'll play it on the side like one. π€·ββοΈ

It's been a week or so since the glitch was found, how has it not been patched? Are the devs really going to wait until the next big update to push it live?
Because they stated the fix isn't coming until the DLC patch in a couple of weeks.

I played 5 games today, 3 out of them was only camping, tunneling and slugging with the match ending with less than 20k points for the killer and ~10ks for the survivors.
Why on earth are killers able to view the survivors profiles pre match but we survivors have to deal with those kind of killers and can only see the "warnings" written by others about their playstyle after the match?
Either hide profiles for everyone or lets survivors see the killers profile as well. Why are only killers allowed to lobby dodge by being able to see the items survivors bring or watching their steam profiles?
See my profile all you want. My Steam profile is completely private. So what, if any, warnings would you see there? None. Nothing. Nada. Zip. No one can post to it or send me messages in the first place. When I play Survivor, not even the killer can get any info on me. Not even my hours in DbD.
So, on PC at least, seeing a profile solves nothing in a lot of cases.
However, I do agree with other posts that all names should be shielded while in lobby.

By the way, if you login, go to the store, and type EntityPleased in the redeem code section, you get 150k BP. They announced it on Twitter.
That's on top of the 250k from logging in the other day. Free stuff for not even playing. ππ€£

Don't see what's wrong with grinding.
It's either that or incredibly stupid situational sh*t like take a person from the locker while using Iron Maiden or smth.
I don't mind grinding in the right type of games, say for example an MMO, or 100% achievement completion in something like Batman: Arkham, et cetera.
In my PvP games? Not a fan.

Better the grind than some of the other challenges. "2 kills in ECG with NoED"
######### please. I DESPISE the existence of NoED and if I get to ECG, then those survivors are getting out anyway.
Just for kicks, I ran a basement Bubba + NOED build last night. Played mostly against purple ranks. If they didn't come into my basement and get snowballed, I waited until the last gen was about to pop and then left the basement to be ready for NOED.
My minimum was 2k, but most were 3k and 4k. Didn't have a 1k or 0k at all.
Granted, that's a sure fire way to de-pip, so I had to play some normal games in-between to stay relative to where I started, but this all went on for about five hours last night because I was bored and couldn't believe it killed so well with so little effort.
Not something I would normally run and play since it's boring as all hell, but after a thread about Bubba yesterday, and all the NOED complaints, I wanted to finally see this for myself. I'd never done Basement Bubba or used NOED before then.
It's amazing how effective NOED can be. Even in purple ranks they seem to have an allergy to totems. Still not going to run NOED regularly, but definitely adding it to my "I'm being annoying" builds.
Maybe after Blight comes out I'll figure out a "You Should Do Totems 101" build. π

How often does that happen? Once every 100 matches? and even then, just do 5 matches ... wooow so interesting
Kick 15 generators, repair 12 generators, make survivors scream 45 times. π€·ββοΈ
This level of the tome is lazy in its grindy design.
-
Well, it was announced to be Beta, so it was going to be turned off anyway at some point. They were testing it, gathering data, and then would adjust from there. The next iteration might be the "live" version, or we might get more Beta phases yet.
But if they announce it as a Beta system, don't expect it to stick around permanently.

that it inevitably spirals into play requirements that run the serious risk of ruining matches for those that aren't doing them
And you have to do the challenges while the battlepass is active or you will lose out on certain cosmetics forever.
Pretty much all of the issues could have been prevented if the battlepass didn't have a time requirement. You buy it. You do it whenever you want. Done.
But that wouldn't make players feel ######### enough and therefore maybe some players wouldn't buy the battlepass and then BHVR would make slightly less money.
It would have been nice if they did something new with the battlepass system like that. Instead, just the same time-gated crap.
Which is precisely why I haven't purchased a single Rift for DbD. I don't play video games enough to make it worth it in the time-window. And when I do play I also play Overwatch, and soon Avengers and Cyberpunk 2077.
Now, had I been able to get a battlepass whenever and complete it at my own pace and get the cosmetics, I would have purchased them all to date. Heck, they could even remove the auric cell rewards. You pay for each pass, simple as that.
I don't believe it's about the Rift money. I think they could have made more overall money the other way. I think it's to entice/force login engagement for their player metrics on how many playing a fiscal quarter and the average amount of time played per player. It's a metric that is useful when seeking the big licenses like they do.

Any challenge with "do this in one run" description is not only badly designed, but also toxic. I ruined many games, just because i wanted to stun killer 4 times or blind him 4 times... Also i camped with Bubba in basement, how else could i hang up there 4 people? IMO Devs dont think what impact those challenges have on games. :/
Good challenge is when it happens in normal not forced gameplay.
The problem with battlepass challenges in games I have played with them is that the Dev team (likely management) seems so desperate for X-number of challenges to be included, that it inevitably spirals into play requirements that run the serious risk of ruining matches for those that aren't doing them. Especially in anything team-based, as opposed to something like solos in a Battle Royale.
I suffered the same match quality deterioration in Paladins for the same reason: battlepass challenges. It was one of the reasons I finally just had enough of it and uninstalled that game. Haven't looked at it or its news in probably two years, and likely never will again due to Battlepass challenges and match quality during them.
-
The grind ones, such as the repair generators, kick generators, start a chase with, make survivors scream, et cetera.
They just feel like filler because they couldn't actually think of anything, or didn't want to put in more hours to do so. There's no skill involved, no considering what perks or add-ons might be best for it, and so forth.
Just sit at the keyboard and profit. We do that normally.
On the flip-side, they can also go too far. That Escape as the Obsession challenge is completely asinine. I don't even play survivor enough that I would worry about that path, and I'm saying that.

As I mentioned before (not being aggressive, promise) the Claudette was first hook, I got her off, she was whacked BT activated then he starts going for me. I get knocked, after a gen gets popped, hooked in basement, and when Bill unhooks me, he knocks me and moris after Bill took a hit.
I can't excuse or explain his play thoughts. No idea why he targeted you like that unless he just felt you were too strong a looper for him and wanted you gone.
I was just posting my own since I am openly a Killer main. I mean, I play survivor, I just play Killer a lot more since I bought DbD for the horror icon DLCs that I grew-up on back in the day.

Nice bait, never was acting salty nor entitled, gave the killer a 'gg' after I died and went about my gaming. Just a genuine question. Killers ask the same questions about survivors like "why didn't I get a 4k" I was just genuinely curious. Just the killer didn't do it to the Claudette, only me. So I thought I would ask, wasn't being toxic, just playing the game normally.
If I have a Daily Ritual to kill a survivor by my hand, whoever I first hook is usually the one getting the Mori. Nothing against them, I was want the 60k BP bonus guaranteed and out of the way. I typically won't use the Mori the rest of the match after that if it's an ebony, but I try to use the green one if I have any (I seem to get more ebonies than green Moris).
Right now I am on the hit 5 exposed survivors challenge, which means NOED builds. Something else I dislike doing. But I just don't feel like wasting the time on Ghostface's stalk and hope I don't get exposed first, or T3 Myers build-up and timing. Probably not going to make survivors happy with NOED, but I didn't make the challenges.
After that is the kill four survivors by any means in a single trial challenge to complete the Level II tome on my killer path. That's going to probably be a combination of hooks, slugging, and Moris. Again, not my preferred play style.

Sometimes I'll just meme around with him and just go around shocking people into Tier 3 madness for the heck of it. I typically let them finish gens and leave, but I get my dozens of screams, first. π

I might hazard a guess that its all just points farming, but even that would be a silly reason. I get way more points for a safe unhook than i would on a kamakazi hook run.
Some might be trying to emulate some streamer or other...though you would imagine after the 50th time it hasn't worked, they would learn.
Whatever it is, no wonder half the killers I encounter don't bother leaving the hook these days, why bother when the meat will throw itself at the mincing machine?
Sadly, that is true. I try to leave the hook because some of my builds run Make Your Choice and I want it to proc. Especially with the hit 5 exposed survivors challenge that I'm stuck on. But haven't been able to get far enough away for it to proc, so I just removed it from my build.
And I hate to camp, but damned if I don't know with 100% certainty that some idiot is very nearby.
As it stands, thanks to MYC being rendered useless by this crap, and me hating Ghostface's mechanic, I'm going to either have to run NOED, Myers and use Tier 3, or Haunted Grounds (and I have an allergy to using Hex perks) to get the stupid challenge done.

Back in my ps4 days it happened in waves, but it happened a lot.
I only got it on pc a couple weeks ago so i'd have to get out of low ranks (i only play here and there atm) before i could answer that properly. Low ranks is where i expect it to happen but i've seen the same awful scenario happen in red ranks too and its mind boggling.
I've been encountering it a lot. They've even hook-swarmed against my Bubba as soon as I've hooked someone.
These are all crossplay, so could be consoles or could be Window Store combination, but all green and purple ranked survivors.
It's to the point that I have to throw obvious downs and hooks and sacrifices because I have no desire to hit red ranks, and yet this crap keeps pipping me.
It's one reason I'm just going to run Basement Bubba for a night or two and protect his No-No Square and call it a match.

At that point, i simply sigh at my 'we'll make it' perk and carry on doing the gen, because i may as well get some points before the inevitable one hook, two slugged debacle...
And is it me, or has that gotten a heck of a lot more common lately?

1) Crossplay. There is no crossplay messaging system (and I'm not turning it off to play PC Lobby Simulator).

People!
Tell me about it. Since crossplay, I am consistently . . .yes, consistently . . . getting survivors in the purple ranks (them, not me, I'm green ranks right now) unhooking their teammates before I am even far enough away from the hook for Make Your Choice to proc, to the point that I've just stopped running it.
Which of course, soon leads to two downed survivors.
The other day I was running Bubba at rank 13. A team of four purples again. I hook one, and immediately see scratch marks around the hook. Long story short, all three swarmed the hook against Bubba and the game was over in no time with a 4k. I never, once, even had an opportunity to walk away. It was hook, turn around, swarm like locusts.
Like, what the hell people?

If people are calling you "uneducated", you might want to look into addressing the issue?
Also, if you're jobless and willing to shell out 100 bucks a month on a game I don't think you have your priorities right. I'm saying this as someone who already bought all DLCs for DBD.

...wait, I think we have two different thinkings on this topic based on your response here.
Are you talking about SWF (people who party up and play on the same team)?
I assumed you were talking about premade builds (as in, everyone running the same perks)
I knew what he was talking about only because I've played Heroes of the Storm, Paladins, and Overwatch quite a bit (Overwatch is my main PvP game). In DbD it's called a Survive with Friends. In pretty much every other online PvP game it's called a premade. Even in WoW PvP that term is used.
My Friends & Family Overwatch group is a full team premade, for example. We're a pre-made team that queues as such, as opposed to a bunch of random teammates or people we just met and don't have strengths, weaknesses, and coordination down with.
His complaint, though, is braindead. Yes, premade groups are extremely common in online games, even a two-man group. Adapt or don't play such games. Simple as that.

first of all sending out a patch is not as easy as you might think. it takes lots of things and it is possible that the dlc is integeral to the fix in how it is implemented. you see there are many things that we can not be privy to because that would let too many know what is happening and how to get around things. Also you have to contend with sony and microsoft as well as nintendo for their platform testing, and they may not have the allotted testing done before the dlc is to come out and then have THAT done as well.
there are things to think of for instance, sure they have a fix and are testing it. but for it to go to the other platforms as well as pc they have to have it done right for a week or two, and dlc is about 3 weeks away, so they have to then a week behind push to them a second update and in some cases they HAVE TO PAY for the updates! lots of things that could happen. so we aren't given to know the contracts and requirements but they tell us some things so we can feel kept in the loop.
Also they are working on things more than just the dlc, hot fixes and other things plus they have the creative team that is rolling out stuff on a different schedule. since this doesn't affect the clients there is no issues for it. the hit validation doesn't affect the clients as that is purely server side so they can roll it out. see? there are things you don't think of or know of that they aren't able to tell you. Your solution is great but based on very shoddy information and assumptions, but I won't stop you from taking that break but you might also want to leave the forums alone as well and posts like this are seen as whining and well not part of your "solution"
While I appreciate taking the time to advise me, I'll keep my own counsel and remain on the forums if I so choose. Not that I do for games I am not currently playing, but that also isn't your concern.
We're done now.

Fair Point. I never got any of those errors.... 108, 111, 112, and more... i've gotten a few but anyways I concede that i was mistaken in what i said.
It's all good. And no, I don't have an axe to grind. I simply get irritated when a game company can take their sweet time to fix glaring issues, but can update their cash-money store at the speed of light.
For example, this hill glitch. They stated they have a fix for it. But it's waiting for next patch, which is the DLC in a couple weeks. Meanwhile, it is a major issue for many players. There's no excuse for that. Put the hotfix out. And it's the sort of thing from BHVR over and over that irritates me with their game-as-service.
But I don't have an axe to grind or whatnot. My solution is simple when I've had enough: I break from DbD and BHVR for a while, don't spend money with them, and go elsewhere.

well sounds like you have an axe to grind, and they even did some testing for people getting that 108 error and put a fix out. but you don't care to even inform them that you got another error so they can't work with it. oh btw: I've seen people crash in overwatch both on ps4 and pc. I've seen lots of people crash in many programs. but only the people with axes to grind come to a general forum and complain thinking it'll be fixed because they complained in the general forum! lol
To my knowledge they tested error 111 and 112, as the announcement stated. There was no announced fix for 108, and in even their Tech forum area the guy doesn't seem to have much of an idea about it.
Errors 111 and 112 were errors that did not save end game properly and didn't award BP. Error 108 is a disconnection error.

have you validated your files? have you sent them the logs of what happened? have you submitted a ticket? I'd wager no you haven't. there is an appeal now on the tickets! lol did you know that you could appeal this? DC bans are because people completely abused an out of match menu function to allow people to shut games down that would go on forever because they didn't like how the killer walked at them and then past them for what ever reason. that's just one i've heard before. best one is how did he know I was there? when they had stopped running behind a rock and the killer walked in from a different direction and saw scratch marks, well that was a dc because he could never have seen me! nope! btw I was the killer that did that and it was hilarious, they waited watching their friends get decimated because I got ticked at that guy and I was called all sorts of names but hey I still got 29K blood points, and a 3K with a technical 4K due to the dc.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1570693#Comment_1570693
stabilize their game? I have never gotten the errors they just tested out a fix for last week, I have rarely had dbd crash and usually it's because my windows decided to shut the program down as it seemed to act abnormally. (YES I READ MY EVENT LOGS!) I've been playing since october 2018, and it's rare i got a crash of dbd, and rare that i get dc'd when it's my isp and not my computer having issues. you may have issues with the program but have you even TRIED to work the issue? TIRED learning how to understand the logs windows uses? Have you looked into your problems? most can't say they have properly worked the issue because most are not computer specialists (like me or like the devs! and yes the devs have to be able to understand the issues and read the logs to see where the problem is).
I haven't crashed in DbD in two years until last week. Error 108, constantly, if a match as Killer went on more than six minutes. Like clockwork.
I did manage to fix it myself. Their Tech Support was absolutely useless on the issue when I went to them. They tried to debate with me that my internet was too slow. Yeah, okay, I'm running over 300 down and close to 300 up. Oh, then your wifi. Okay, sure, except I'm wired in. It wasn't the internet.
Two days ago I crashed and got an error in the 8,000 range. I forget the precise number, because I just stopped caring at this point. It gets to be too much, I have Overwatch. Zero issues there.

No what I am saying is that when Killers are doing a tome, usually killers, they will message the ps4 player, the surv and ask to farm, I am saying this isn't going to be a huge thing now given cross play is happening, can't message everyone. Some may get it in a match if the Killer is playful, messing about but some are wary too when it comes to farming (have had past bas experience with that lol)
Oh. Well, us PC Killers couldn't do that to begin with. Most people on Steam have their profile completely private thanks to DbD's community.
So, for me, nothing's changed. Sorry.

Well if you have anyway for me to show you my "essay" ill gladly copy and paste it.
Sadly, I do not. All my other avenues are tied to my real name, and since I'm a published author and have been trolled and review-bombed in my career from game forums in the past, I just remain hidden nowadays.
But thanks for thinking of it. I appreciate it. And sorry for making fun of the formatting earlier in the thread.

Yes but difficult say you as a killer on ps4 and the survs on some other format, farming would be harder to do.
A vast majority of my matches since crossplay have been against four players on another platform. I'm PC, and have rarely had more than 1 or 2 PC people in a match, and many times none at all. I've had many BP farming matches happen. Matter of fact, for me at least, I've found them easier for the survivors to understand what's happening far more than PC survivors ever went along with it.
That's my personal experience so far, and I'm sure not everyone's experience with it has been the same. I leveled several Killers from 1-50 since crossplay thanks to farming matches.

I saw Billy a few times after the change, but since then he seems to have vanished. Bubba seems to be the new choice, but even then, hes rare too, despite being an absolute beast now. I kinda miss Billy tbh, especially now he has silent chainsaws. That was a fun one to go against.
Yeah, I got into DbD to play the horror icons I grew-up on in the 80s or that came around when I was an adult: Myers, Freddy, Leatherface, Amanda, and Ghostface.
I love the fact that Leatherface was made better.
Which comes around to Myers. Some say he needs buffs, and maybe he does. But the way he plays with the stalking just feels like Myers to me. Win or lose. I love it.

I guess it depends. If I saw an Ace recently in a group, I generally let him have the Challenge requirements. Some are just easier than others to allow to happen freely.
