  • What in the living hell? How can people be that dumb against a 1-hit down killer? Never mind an AoE 1-hit down.

So if we all escaped without him killing us would it be a problem then? Even if he hit one of us or multiple of us?

Not if he hit one of you, no. Again, that showed he wasn't truly AFK. It's just that his gamble backfired.

Now, had his gamble backfired and he got no hits and nothing in the end? Then he might have some explaining to do if he was reported and banned for AFK.

Yep, this is another example of the show "Playing Dumb, real life cases of dumb ways to die".

I actually have videos about it, LMAO

I would love to see that!

  • Unfortunately for your team, I'm betting it's allowed. He didn't AFK the entire match, meaning that he did nothing and everyone escaped. He played a severe waiting game knowing about NOED and took a huge gamble, and it paid off. He downed and hooked all four of you thanks to NOED. He did play, just not in the way the survivors expected.

  • @Carlosylu said:

Ok... he was AFK full game and you didn't do the totems and he got a 4k... You survivors should be the ones reported for playing dumb... EDIT: I know that isn't reportable and I'm actually amazed why you didn't coordinate the farm without popping the 5th gen, even if you were all randoms... The totems were a clear must do...

Playing dumb? I got one for you. Just did a Cannibal game. Hooked a Claudette early. Turn around to leave. Scratch marks. Walk away a bit to see where, and whadda know, there's Bill unhooking her eight feet from me. Rev, double down. Hook him, before I can even get her off the ground, more scratch marks. The other two came running over.

Needless to say, that was a 3k and a DC against Bubba. It's Bubba. It's obvious what not to do. They did the opposite. Game lasted like 3-4 minutes in all.

Thank the gods for no crossplay chat and that I also have my chat always closed, as I'm fairly certain I would have gotten accused of camping instead of them realizing their abject effing stupidity. And these were purple rank survivors.

No harm in that. I personally just can't get Hillbilly. I know he's pretty good, I just... can't with him. I found Nurse easier than Hillbilly.

Yeah, Hillbilly is that way for me. Trapper, Hag, Demo, Hillbilly, and Nurse just don't do it for me. Nurse, though, makes me motion sick with the blinks same as Tracer in Overwatch. Can't play Tracer, either.

I mostly play Clown, Doc, and Freddy in a rotation with my secondary guys of: Oni, Myers, Pig, and Leatherface.

I haven't put time into figuring Pyramid Head out yet.

There are like 17 different killers in the game. Perhaps the person didn't rank up with Spirit. I'm rank 1 and I completely suck with Nurse.

21, with Blight. Unless we don't count Demo, Clown, Legion, and Wraith, which is understandable. 🤣

Here's the important part. These are not in any particular order. But you only ever hear people quote #1. I promise #1 is not the only reason we changed Ruin; it's just one piece in the puzzle.

We took a close look at the perk to identify what makes it so frustrating to play against. Three key issues were identified:

    1. Its punishment of new players or those who can't hit Great Skill Checks. Newer players trying to help veterans with generator repairs tend to make the situation worse rather than better.
    2. The passive nature of the gameplay pressure it provides means that there is a huge amount of potential with very little effort or risk on behalf of The Killer.
    3. Its inconsistency due to the random nature of the appearance interval of skill checks.

I'll say it: I actually like current Ruin a lot better than the old one as a Killer.

Now, if only Hex totem spawns weren't such garbage, I might run Hexes more.

That's not odd, I too play her worse with Stridor, it might be because sounds in this game are incosistent. I prefer a lot Predator on her.

Haven't tried Predator on her. I'll have to test that in KYF next time the crew is on.

You'd be surprised. I still remember a few calling for him to have a bigger cooldown for using his 'Of the Abyss' to zone windows and pallets. If he were more popular, I wouldn't doubt it would come back up.

I just cannot get him to work for me. Not a weak or strong statement, here, just my play style. I also can never get Trapper or Hag to work for me, no matter how many matches or days in a row that I try. I might just shelve him for now.

  • I think they're testing it out for when Undying releases. I'm not even bothering with a post-Blight Hex build. We'll just see maps brought every match anyway.

  • @Hex_Stalk said:

I remember hearing about there being talks about rewards for prestiging other than just the bloody cosmetic items. Am I wrong in thinking this or is there actually work being done towards making prestiging worth it?

They said it is on their list. Nothing as far as ETA or how far down the list. But with them having to fix MMR and get it back into the game, still working on getting cross-progression allowed by Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony, and wanting to get an Early Game Slowdown into the game, it might not be a current priority.

  • @Mandy said:

It's never been confirmed as to what would exactly come to the Store and on what date - hence saying a minimum of 6 months. I don't think anyone expected at that point to have been hit with a worldwide pandemic and have to spend most of 2020 working from home either.

We've all seen how many games have been put back through this year due to Covid, so I do think cosmetics not being placed into the store is a relatively minor issue for the time being.

So, let me get this straight. BHVR can release new DLC survivors and killers into the store, release brand new cosmetics into the store at a consistent rhythm, all during COVID, but miraculously can't put pre-existing Battlepass skins into that same store because of . . . COVID?

I think BHVR needs a better excuse than that one.

The date reason is completely valid. It said minimum of six months, not after six months. It could be five years from now and still be accurate with what was stated.

But don't try the COVID excuse when BHVR has been updating the store with new items throughout COVID.

Well, if you ever see a Claudette or Dwight come out from behind a corner, and slowly edges towards you, while rhythmically clicking their flashlight at you, attempting to use it as a morse code device, then you’ve found me. You’ll know for sure it’s me when I don’t struggle while on your shoulder, tacitly placing my hands on highly desired locations upon your body.

ok, that’s enough from me now.

    I laughed way too hard.

That wouldn't change what survivors do. They would still fix gens, cleanse totems and search chests. I believe a new objective or a new twist on what we have would make this more interesting and maybe make it so there wouldn't be as much genrush, which would also benefit the killer.

The only real "hope" we have is whatever form the Early Game Slowdown takes when they finally release it.

    Well, they sucked.

In a bout of irony, I actually play worse with Spirit with Stridor on her. I play her a bit in KYF with crossplay family (I don't have Stridor unlocked on her normally), and I do far better with her without that perk. Odd, I know.

I will do my best to snitch on the ######### hiding in a locker on the other side of the map for the last 10 minutes who didn't do ######### all for their team and is just praying for an easy free hatch. I don't care if it gets me killed too as long as they die. Letting trash like that win for nothing makes you worse than they are.

See, as a killer, that's different. It is highly unlikely that I am not going to see each of the four survivors throughout a match. I've had that odd match where someone hides in a locker for damned too long. Ironically, it seems to be a Kate in my matches. If someone shows me where that pleb is finally so I don't have to go searching every damn locker, that's different.

In the case I mentioned on Midwich, they were all participating. It was obvious they knew it was a loss when those two were left, so the one hid to try to get hatch or gate. I mean, they had 4 gens left still. The other snitched in the hopes I would give them hatch for it. Nah. Not playing that.

I don’t think we’re talking about the same tool....

Oh, I know which one you're talking about. You just have to mentally RP it. Sadly, the game doesn't allow me to poke that way. 😂

  • @Angelicus23 said:

I would have liked if you saved a gameplay to see her performing, or maybe this was just a farm because of the guy who DCed

I mean, if there is a DC'er in the first 30-60 seconds of a match, I definitely drop into "take it easy" mode. So, yeah, there is that.

And once I hit that mode, they can all three escape in the end as long as I got decent BP.

  • @AvisDeene said:

If you play Michael against me, I may tbag and flashlight click just so you could penetrate me with your tool and let me feel your muscles while you sling me over your shoulders.

Unfortunately, only few Michaels realize what I’m after when I do that.

Well, you'd definitely get penetrated by my tool if you tbag and clickity-click my Myers. 😂🤣

  • Yeah, I feel survivor side really needs something. I can't stand playing survivor in DbD. I've tried so many times. I get bored after a few matches. Whereas over in F13, I preferred counselor over Jason. It just feels more interactive and fun being that role over there.

As for ideas, I got nothing. The devs seem adverse to adding any sort of new objectives anyway, so I stopped trying to brainstorm ideas. Their answer, apparently with The Blight, was to create more Hex totems that might entice killers to run more Hex Totems to force survivors onto totems. Sigh.

I downed an Ace yesterday. It was obvious he wasn’t very good so I left him slugged. Went back when he got picked up so I could chase his teammate, only to find him hiding in a corner with no way out. So I just stand there, looking at him, contemplating whether or not I should just let him go to do gens or slug him again. He turns toward a locker and points at it. I open it to find Claudette screaming.

I drop the Claudette and hook the Ace.

I camped him and let rest escape.

    Snitches get stitches.

Someone did that to my Spirit on Midwich. The snitch died. I then slugged the other and carried them to hatch. They were the last two, and not very good, and the final one couldn't find hatch for anything.

But yeah, snitch and I'll facecamp you. One of the few times I will do that.

  • This is bad. Now whenever I'm playing Demo and open portals, all I keep hearing in my head is: Yes, yes, this is my circle . . . . 😂

  • @DBD78 said:

We need more Demogorgon killers! Might be the only killer without a nerf/no counterplay/random hate mob following.

Well, maybe I can get used to him. I'm not a huge fan of the "set-up" killers like Trapper, Hag, and Demo. I usually play Clown, Doc, Freddy, and some Oni, Pig, Myers, and Leatherface on the side. So, it's a bit of a shift.

Though Demo seems to be less "set-up" than Trapper and Hag.

    Happy to help - You're a pleasant user :)

You can also meme with a Basement Build (using Territorial Imperative), as he can teleport to the basement at will should you choose to set-up that way.

He was initially viewed as pretty weak, but he's solid mid-tier these days, imo.

Thanks for the kind words. I try to stay away from the Us vs Them stuff, and don't talk balance this or that because I'm not a top player and am well-aware that my performance would not be a good balance indicator.

    Almost forgot add-ons!

    • Obviously with the activated radar strat the add-on that makes it take longer to cleanse totems is useful, it just gives you even more gen slowdown if they cleanse them plus more time to retaliate
    • The other add-on is dealer’s choice. Rat Liver is good if you want a boost in chases, it makes Shred a little less situational at loops. Or if you want a little extra detection you could use the add-on that extends the detection range of portals. Or if you find yourself tunneling frequently then maybe use the add-on that shaves off a bit of time on the tunneling or that Exhausts survivors near a portal so they can’t immediately Sprint away. Really it’s a matter of what you think you would make use of the most I think.

    Thanks for the add-on advice.

  • @Raccoon said:

Rat Liver is an amazing common....AMAZING! It will allow you to keep pace with shred, force more pallet drops, and completely negate certain loops/structures.

Don't sleep on his portals - Placing them near gens/common pathways will provide you with decent info as well as fast travel.

    Perkwise, he's pretty flexible...

I switch between a standard BBQ/STBFL/PGTW/CI (or NOED instead of CI)

    or a control build using

    Ruin/Surge/PGTW/Surveillance...

With his teleportation, the latter build can really, really slow the game down (even if you have a terrible start) and provide an abundance of information when combined with smart portals.

Thanks. Any and all tips and strats are welcome, and being noted.

  • @HermanTheDoctor Just gave you a new Follow. I main Doc and Freddy, but am mere yellow-green ranks. Always looking for tips and love watching Doc matches.

@SpaceCoconut I think you should be in there for Hag mains.

Anyone know of any Clown or Legion mains? Like those two, but could always use some new pointers and tips.

  • @dugman said:

I like using Demo’s portals as activated radar stations. I put the portals next to the gens and intentionally activate them early. If the survivors leave them up I can detect them on the gen any time I want. And if they cleanse the portal I get a noise alert so I still know where they are plus they just spent 12 seconds destroying a portal that only takes me two seconds to place for a net gen slowdown of 10 seconds. So it’s a win-win. Basically doing this I play Demo a little like Trapper or Hag, I lay out my portals on four or five gens all on the same half of the map and set up for a later game defense.

Works well, aside from me not always being the best in chases with his Shred. 🤷‍♂️

Interesting. Next time I mess around with him, will have to try that.

Well that is then another reason to play it not.

For my part was Blizzard one of the few good companies in this industry.

I have play Blizzard games from Warcraft 1: Orcs and Humans (or whas it Humans and Orcs? - don't know it anymore) to countless years in World of Warcraft, but I can't stay that Kotick guy anymore. He makes me vomit. So I have let Blizzard go and at the moment I prefer more 4x games and games I can mod and I wait for Cyberpunk 2077 like the most other people I know :).

What dbd matters, so makes me the influence of the streamers sick.

Either the devs do directly what they say, or they sent their audiences and those guys follow like brainless sheeps.

Wish bhvr would look more at the people that just play the game.

I still play Blizzard. Like you, have since Warcraft 1 in 1994. That said, the huge flaw for Overwatch is the Overwatch League. Because it is the brainchild of the Activision-Blizzard CEO, Robert Kotick, Kaplan and is team are forced to make sure OWL looks good on the screen to watch. So, we end up with a severe burst damage meta while tanks and supports are nerfed so the DPS heroes can make those flashy plays for viewers.

IF OWL would just die already (and it isn't doing well), Overwatch as a game would end up in a far better place.

But the guy also false reported the killer lol. And had to get super toxic in chat.

I mean, I have inventories full of Ebony Mori's because I just don't use them except for a daily ritual. Somehow, I always have more pinks than greens on the Mori's, and I'm not risking a +60k BP payout on the crappy yellow ones.

The devs claim they will be looking at them. But until then, they are what they are. I mean, his first match in on the video he brought a key and laughed about it.

I think this is just a case of you not understanding the game mechanics or you are experiencing some internet or lag issues. Hackers are extremely rare in this game. I have about 4500 hours and can count on one hand the amount of times i can certainly recall a blatant hacker in my game. Also people with bad framerates (console) can have wacky movement.

Tell me about it. I down a console player, look down to pick them up (and the prompt to Pick Up is showing) and then they teleport on the ground some 10-12 feet away. Annoying. And I can only assume they're on console due to the globe, and the fact that I never had this issue pre-crossplay when the globe would mean Windows Store PC for me.

Yeah, you're probably right. It unfortunately, kind of straight up kills the game to be constantly placed against people who are like 10 ranks above you on either side. I was playing a match earlier and I literally just stopped walking and tabbed to a different screen like, nevermind.

I had to do that twice tonight, sadly. Get to the screen at the end, and four red-ranks every damned time. I am Rank 13 (was 12). And it happened at Rank 13.

For me, this seems to begin happening every night between 10pm and 11pm, east coast U.S. time zone. Moving forward, I'm just going to jump onto Overwatch on gaming nights at 10pm if I am playing a video game beyond that time. I don't care about rank, but the matches just aren't close to being fun. They're way above my weight class in skill.

This is exactly why Mori's need to be reworked. You sit in queues for 20 minutes; only for someone to 1st Hook Mori you.

Trapper trapped the inside of a window so you couldnt see it; then I get farmed off hook, instantly downed again and Mori'd :) So much fun.

    @Toybasher said:

    Here's the match in question.

You took control at 4:28:06 and got mori'd at 4:30:06, pretty much 120 seconds instead of 60 seconds into the match, twice as long as you had claimed.

You also were not even farmed off the hook, borrowed time didn't even activate and the killer just got done hooking someone else and you stepped in a trap. I chalk this one up to "survivor error" although I still think the killer was a bit of an ass to mori you that early.

As the person posting your Vid clearly pointed out, you lasted two minutes. While the first trap could happen to anyone, the second trap was on stairs that you should have noticed. Why did you blindly run up a set of stairs outside of the same building he already had one trap placed and not look for it? That's on you.

He Mori'ed you. Yes, it sucks when it happens, but then you go on in post-match chat to use profanity against him. He used no profanity back, and only called you "entitled" after you complained about a Mori and used profanity against him twice.

What do you do then? You file a false report about a Mori (which is allowed) and go on to also false report that he then trash talks and uses homophobic slurs. He did not, at any time. You were the one using profanity.

@Peanits @MandyTalk @not_Queen I want to bring this to your attention. An above post has the video embedded, The match begins around 4:28:00 and the post-match chat and his using profanity begins around 4:37:00 or so. The False Report is around 4:39:00.

Same tbh, I quite enjoy playing as Demo as well, except I struggle with the portals - they really affect my vision a bit. I also enjoy playing against him - there's very few solidly good Demo mains though, he seems to be pretty hard to master.

Yeah, I have to admit: I didn't care much for his power playstyle and doubt I will put BP into him at this point. I'm not huge on the "set-up" killers like Trapper, Hag, or Demo.

Maybe one day that will change. But for right now, not for me. Think I'll stick with Doc, Clown, and Freddy, with some Pig, Myers, and Leatherface on the side.

Having a carefree attitude is the best way to play dead by daylight. These days I don't care about ranking or pipping, I'm just out to have fun. I do agree however that it's far too easy to rank up in this game, especially if you are playing survivor. It's one of the reasons why the devs created the MMR because ranks don't necessarily correlate to skill, especially with survivor since there's three other people that can help to carry you and watch your back.

Well, I'm almost 48 years old and only bought DbD for the Horror Slasher Icons that I grew-up on, in truth. It's just something I play a bit casually. If I was looking for a ranked competitive game (and I am not anymore) I would just play Competitive Mode in Overwatch again, which is better designed around serious competitive play. Nowadays, I only do Quick Play and Arcade modes over there anymore, too.

MMR . . . yeah, when it returns and if it works correctly next time around.

  • @Kira15233 said:

What type of gameplay you mostly play as?

I play both aggressive and stealth sometime, Pyramid Head and Ghostface are my mains alongside few others like Oni and probably Trapper

I flip around. The killers I like playing the most are Doc, Freddy, Pig, and Clown. I also toss in some Ghostface, Myers, and Legion. So a variety of play style.

It all depends on my mood that match. It's like when I play Overwatch, sometimes I want to Tank, sometimes Support, and sometimes DPS. It's all a mood thing.

I also don't care about my rank in DbD. If I had some good survivor interaction and some BP, I don't sweat it if they escape.

  • @SweetTerror @Yamaoka @SenzuDuck The first match lost me a pip, the next two gained me a pip. I'm in greens, btw. Nothing huge as far as rank.

I don't get it. I don't want to rank up this fast. I feel like I'm gaining ranks faster than I'm actually improving at the game. And this isn't a thing against console player "skill" because I also know their FPS is a mess right now, which makes a huge difference. I don't even care about rank anyway. I just play to earn BP and for the horror-slasher fantasy.

He didn't do a lot of content besides streaming, i.e. no guides and stuff, but Vinnie was as big as him back then, even though Vinnie stuck around and got even bigger.

EdgarAllan and Jendenise were some of the survivors in some of Scott Jund's early guide videos, helping him out, too.

Now it's all shifted to Scott's Word of Gospel for people, Tru3, OhTofu, and Otz. A year or two, it'll shift again.

  • EdgarAllanBro.

He was a first generation Fog Whisperer when the program first started. Now, don't get me wrong, I have nothing against him and back then found him entertaining. Haven't really watched him since 2018 when he was a big DbD Streamer with Jendenise and some others, but they stream a lot of other games nowadays and DbD once in a while.

For everybody is something annoying in this game and if dbd always gets changed just because a streamer crys, or some people on the forums, the game getting more boring for everyone.

Not only for the streamer and/or the guys on the social media plattforms - it starts to get also more boring for the people that usually not show up in the forums, aka. the majority of the playerbase, since the most people just play a game and are not part of their social plattforms imo.

But I think, you thinking there the same.

It is on one hand just sad to see how the community dismembers itself and you watching how the things got cutted away, you like (in my case not deathslinger - but that doesn't matter in the great scheme of things).

I mean, I don't play Overwatch nearly as much anymore because of that same crap. If a Top Streamers whines, or the OWL whines, things get changed. It's made the base game for many of us just unfun anymore.

I'm fairly certain I'll hit that point with DbD for the same reason, and stop playing it, too.

didn't you read the rule #9501 paragraph 89 where you're not supposed to loop the killer

Lmfao 😂 yeah suppose I missed that one, now that I know I shall be a good little survivor

Back in 2018, I watched a DbD Streamer who was one of the first Fog Whisperers (he isn't anymore, nor does he play DbD as regularly anymore), where if you looped him three times around the same loop, any loop, he would facecamp you afterward. Even if it cost him the match. And he was consistently Rank 1.

Heck, he even had a whole thing he'd activated for the "Face Cam" as he called it when he facecamped them and all sorts of music and effects played.

Custom Games, Sorry. I wish the devs would focus on the matchmaking, we have the playerbase, the algorithm just sucks.

Yeah, it's the matchmaker that is making me take a break already. It's either stomp them or get stomped. I've very few games in-between, and it's already boring. I mean, I just stomped a team as a Level 15 Wraith of all things. I'm Rank 13 after losing some on Deathslinger, and they were a green, two purples, and a red. They got two Gens done, and then it was a 4k. Sigh.

The same happened for me, I had my eye on overwatch before it released. But got caught up with Smash 4s DLC. I didn't join till custom games were introduced.

Custom games, or workshop? Because workshop didn't come out until 2019.

I'm asking because "custom games" was the name of the mode before the full workshop came last year.

(Note: I'm probably taking a break from DbD for a bit. Played nightly since crossplay for 1 to 2 hours a session, and already getting a bit bored with the gameplay loop.)

I'm glad the game is at least playable for you, I love multi tasking so a lot of the time I'm doing something else while playing. It still can get pretty annoying when I wait 20 minutes for a game only to get morid in 2 minutes lol. I've had my eye on this game since the beta, having all my childhood nightmares in this game was a very nice bonus.

Funny thing. I followed it in the beta. But then Overwatch came out in May 2016. Now, I'm not a shooter guy. Although I play Borderlands nowadays, I didn't play shooters before 2016, and besides Borderlands have only played Overwatch and a short stint in Paladins.

My eldest son (now 27) got Overwatch for me as an early Father's Day gift because some friends and family were getting it and they wanted me to play. So, DbD completely fell off my radar until my now 10-year-old found out about it in 2017 and told me Myers and Freddy were in there (Freddy had just released).

I still resisted getting into yet another game until June 2018 when the Steam Summer Sale made it too tempting. But I want to play Killer since Survivor side just doesn't appeal to me. I tried it, but unfortunately enjoyed counselor in F13 a lot more than Survivor here. But until crossplay, could never get killer lobbies.
