  • I ran into Freddy this past Sunday, and I literally said out loud to myself: “Wow, I haven’t seen a Freddy in ages.” Then he proceeded to kick our ass on Lery’s. :/

  • Thank you for recognizing solo que is dogwater, as well. Now you have earned my sympathy.

  • @mustdogen said:

All my solo team done 4 gens in 5 minutes, literally every match.

I really don't understand why people complain about solo exp now especially COB and overcharge got removed.

I have a theory that the time of day and what region you play in, has a significant effect on the quality type of matches players endure. I can’t think of any other reason other than luck, as to why everyone’s experience is different. For example, mine is the complete opposite of yours, and has been for over a year now. My teammates are mostly terrible, and it feels like the game throws me in a lobby with 3 scrubs/noobs to “balance” the match for the killer. There have been waaaay too many times, I’ve died first or second, and did more gens than my teammates- and/or have a lot more points than them. Even more egregious, if we escape or not- I end up with more points consistently. It’s very frustrating to see that ######### at the post game screen, especially when it mirrors how you see your teammates play.

I’m an average player with game sense, I don’t understand how matchmaking expects me to carry inexperienced/new players vs. killers who have more hours in the game than all 4 of us combined. It’s ridiculous and very infuriating. I don’t mind losing, but a third of my solo experience shouldn’t be stomp sessions because entitled teammates ragequit over being hooked first or don’t like the killer they’re facing. I shouldn’t be getting decimated at 4 or 5 gens because i have teammates who are too scared to go for saves or do gens, even when it’s obvious the killer isn’t close by. They’re just scared at the thought of encountering the killer suddenly, at any point. This is why I complain about the solo exp; because mine is sh!t and I’d gladly swap with yours in a heartbeat.

  • I roll my eyes when playing against a Wesker back to back, but I tolerate it. What I can’t tolerate is that other thing you mentioned- getting paired with 6 potatoes to go against 2 back to back tournament Weskers, who play like they have a jigsaw helmet on their head, with the timer started.

Jeezus BHVR, fix the gawd damn matchmaking to have fairer matches instead of Red Dead Insta-Que lobbies with noobs. Or at the very least, put some competent teammates to go against these try hard 3000 hr 30 game win streak Weskers.

  • Dying Light is heavily underrated. It saved a LOT of my games before this latest patch, when paired with Ruin (survivors never expect this in 2023), Overcharge, & Jolt. I haven’t had time to play killer on this patch yet, but I did go against it as survivor and we only got 3 gens done in that match.

Left Behind is a high risk/high reward perk because it’s endgame only, and requires for you to be the last one standing. We can self buff it with Open Handed, and use one or two other perks to take advantage of OH so it’s not a “waste” of a perk slot. Kindred & Plunderer’s works well. Windows is not a bad pair either. I have LB on two of my survivors (Yui & Felix).

Everything else you mentioned is definitely valid and I agree- devs ignore some really weak perks. To make matters worse, instead of buffing them to the point where they can compete with Meta perks, they nerf Meta perks (and even balanced non meta perks no one complained about) into weak perks, further increasing the weak perks pool!

  • Most days I feel like I should killswitch the game as a whole, tbh….

You do you. I like being able to be what made the killer only get a 1k even if I'm the 1.

Well said, you two. I applaud our community for banding together and “taking turns” being martyrs, hanging on hooks as long as possible while teammates completed gens and escaped. This is what killed off basement bubba in 2022.

I’ll gladly sacrifice myself to benefit “strangers.” And why? Because so many players who came before me, did it for me and two other strangers. They’re the real MVP’s. Here’s a dropped Purple Toolbox at the exit gate for all my dead martyred homies: 🧰

  • I agree 110%; you nailed it. Map offerings need to go. Enough already.

I'm a Killer main, and I believe this, absolutely.

SWF can give me a challenge, and sometimes walk-over me, no contest. Especially the ones good enough to know to split-up on gens and report my position. It's hopeless.

When it's clear they aren't chatting with each other, it's very often 3-4k. I played Killer back when it SUCKED, so today it seems easy. I'm literally collecting my Adept badges, some with killers that only have Level 1 versions of their own perks.

Trying to hit some Daily's and some Tome goals as a solo survivor is eye-opening. Most of them are terrible. I feel sorry for any new solo Survivor players. I know what I'm trying to do, and it's still really rough.

TL:DR, if your team-mates are terrible, you are probably doomed.

P.S. If you don't like the post-game chat, just play on a console. Only Friends can message me, so I never even see the Haters, lol.

@DBDVulture Crow gets it. He understands.

I stand by what I say, and I’m going to keep pushing this narrative as long as game developers are going to keep pretending like grouping up isn’t an advantage and causes an imbalance. When they pair it up with terrible matchmaking, then it becomes a recipe for disaster. I’m sorry the game sucks at high level for killers, but the games sucks even more at low-mid level for survivors. AND BOTH are caused by the improper balance of SWF’s. I swear the consistent potatoes you get as teammates, do more damage to the team than any killer can. They practically give the killer the W with the lack of communication, ragequitting, cowardice, and lack of game sense/awareness. They can’t even take advantage of anything you deem survivor sided such as Ormond. Put Pinhead on that map and watch them ragequit or let go on hook once they got caught first and see he has Plaything. A 3/4 man SWF isn’t doing that. You’ll find out if you don’t do the lament box, 8 times out of 10 NONE of your teammates will do it. Onryo? You think solos strategically do TV’s in between gens to cut off her map control? No. Plague? Always cleansing to give her, her power- then will come and save infected you off hook 10 seconds right after, cleanse again, thus giving her power twice in less than 45 seconds. Nice. Always hiding, self caring, and COH’ing, and too brain dead to take advantage of a “survivor sided” game. And that’s the problem right there Vulture- all these resources put into play for those who need it most (the majority of the player base), and they don’t use it to their full potential. Who does? SWF’s do, on top of already having the one thing that Trumps ANY killer or survivor perk- Communication.

Four good solos are practically unicorns. They’re not encountered often on the low to mid level, otherwise I’d see more of them in my matches when I’m survivor. Huge difference from now and the days of red ranks. Red ranks I consistently saw good players in the majority of my matches.

SWF’s are why I don’t like playing killer. If I lose, it’s usually a stomp- rarely a close game. If I win, it’s usually a sweat fest and not enjoyable. I feel like a played 3 games in a row after just playing ONE match. Too stressful. I don’t understand how killer mains do it. When I go against solo’s who know how to play and use whatever is at their disposal, I enjoy the killer experience the most- win or lose. It’s the perfect tempo. Now going against solo potatoes is nice and an ego boost (NGL), but too often I have to let the last person or last two go because their teammates either ragequitted or were just somewhere hiding and not participating/helping. I totally understand their woes for having to endure that, so I become empathetic. But the game is not fun having to deal with that for 2 or 3 matches consecutively, so i turn it off.

-"The game is not survivor sided- it’s SWF sided"

Can we not start with this false rhetoric again?

If Garden of Joy is not survivor sided then why do people always pick that map when they want an easy game? The same goes for The Game, Ormond, Farm maps and the Knight Map.

The rules for DBD are stacked against killer. The better you play as a survivor the more this becomes easy to notice. Why do "god pallets" exist? It's to literally force the chase to end. The only killers who get to ignore pallets are extremely hard to use so people consider that "fine". That's not ok. Does killer have anything equating to god pallets where they get an automatic win in chases? They get nothing for free.

While it is true that SWF has a bigger advantage over solo play - good solo players will stomp you as killer if they are efficient and you are not.

“False rhetoric???” The game is imbalanced because of SWF’s- there’s a LOT more of them than 4 good solo players. But you know who the majority is? Solo potatoes. SWF’s are the ones who make killers lives miserable. Why doesn’t the game show who’s in a SWF? Because every killer would dodge those lobbies. WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU? C’mon now- there are no excuses for that. That’s just plain flagrant. Overwatch is another game that won’t show who’s teamed up- it’s an advantage and causes imbalance. Let’s call it for what it is and stop pretending they’re not the real culprit. It’s a totally different game when I play solos vs. SWF’s. Matchmaking is too asss to consistently give you 4 good solos, so when you do go against solo players- it’s mostly a chill and enjoyable experience.

And as far as maps go: Auto Haven Wreckers Yard, Midwich, Lery’s, The Artist’s map, Haddonfield, The Game (goes both ways- especially for Meyers, Pig, Hag, Doctor, Skull Merchant, etc. and any pallet builds [enduring, spirit fury, nemesis, brutal strength, etc.]. Killers have their fair share of maps, plus the new and future updates are nerfing loops and shrinking more maps. Maps mean nothing in 2023. I bet you if anything, it’s the SWF’s who you are protecting who bring the most map offerings, cause I don’t see it too often in solo que, that’s for damn sure.

So, by that definition We'll make it is overpowered then.

It’s not OP- but that buff would make it Meta. It would be the best option, and the devs appear to be trying to keep any sort of healing out of the Meta.

  • That would make it a little too strong and meta at high play/SWF’s, defeating one of the purposes for this update.

  • @bunnyfengenthusiast said:

Yeah I've seen it happen quite a lot. Survivor will get swarmed while dropping a pallet, and slow vault the pallet into me. Always funny when it happens but I can sympathize. Another aggravating thing is when you're going for a window vault and you get vacuumed into a locker vault.

My favorite is when I have a good lead on a killer to vault the window from inside, but I stop to do the gen instead and give them a free hit. 😑

Bonus points if I’m already injured. 🥳

  • The game is not survivor sided- it’s SWF sided. Come join me in solo que and you’ll wonder where the potatoes we get as teammates are hiding, when you que up for killer.

Also, matchmaking doesn’t help either. I’d rather wait 5 mins to get fairer matches than insta-load into lobbies vs. bully squads with 2K hours or vs. a 2K killer with 20 hour teammates. 😑

  • Come join me in solo que and I’ll show you a portion of the community who are allergic to gens. You and I can ask them if they prefer we do everything??

  • People need to vent, and they want to see if anyone else agrees with their sentiments. No better place than the forums I guess.

Now as for fearmongering? Yea that’s not cool…

  • The narrative needs to change from Survivor vs. Killer to EVERYONE vs. SWF’s. SWF’s are the real problem…

  • As a Meyers main, I do not approve this message. 😂

  • I say they were a success because even without any new Boons & Scourges, the current ones are still popular (looking at you CoH, SPR, & SFR).

  • Oh, I’d bet all my shards that it’s coming…

  • @Krazzik said:

Inner Healing has always been a good perk but with boons being as popular as they are there is anti-synergy there, and if a Mikaela ever sees you cleansing a dull totem, there'll be hell to pay.

Also screws up your team if the killer has Pentimento but that's a pretty rare perk to encounter so it's not as much if an issue.

Lmao I remember when it was Nancy who could kill you with a death stare, if she ran into you touching one of her precious totems! Those were good times. Crazy how things have changed…

  • I actually have 2 different problems when I use it or Desperate Measures- teammates thinking I’m just hiding in a locker, so they get upset/let go on hook, and the 2nd problem is everyone blessing or destroying the yummy totems I need to get the best value out of Inner Healing.

IH should get a buff allowing 2 tokens, and 1 use consumes a token. Also, it should give teammates a notification via the HUD that you’re healing inside the locker. Just like how our portraits show gen & downed recovery progress, heal progress should be shown in general- no matter what the method is.

  • I’ve been playing since 2018 and I’m convinced this ######### is intentional- no one can persuade me otherwise. It has only got progressively worse over the past 3 years, with this last update making it even MORE prevalent than ever before. This bullshit is not by chance-it’s by design. It happens waaaay too often for too many players, and this was not the case in the late 2010’s. It’s very ######### annoying and a cheap mechanic.

Either remove it or just make it whenever a survivor lets go of a gen for any reason, it explodes. Then make it crystal clear in the next set of patch notes.

  • I blame SWF’s. Every problem this game has is due to SWF’s.

  • The entitled ragequitting demographic you’re trying to reason with, does not frequent these forums. They don’t even have their driver’s license yet.

Every time they ragequit, look at their profile and observe the game they switched to: Fortnite.

  • I feel like Boil Over is only viable against Novice killers. It appears to hardly ever bother Intermediate/Expert Killers. It probably should be reworked to be an entirely different perk,…

  • Iron Will shouldn’t have been nerfed. No one was even complaining about it. It was fairly common in builds, but not popular. Now it’s pretty much useless IMO.

  • Killer: Pinhead. I know he’s licensed and it helps having him for promotion, but the majority of our community is just too damn incompetent to deal with him. Whether it be the laziness/cowardice to do his lament box, or the poor sportsmanship/entitled mindset of rage quitters, it’s just not worth the headache for the rest of the respectable player base to have to constantly endure this mess.

Survivor: Jeff. Dad bod just doesn’t fit in this game. He doesn’t get any love cosmetically, plus his perks suck (mostly).

  • You’re not crazy. How are the teammates you’re matched up with? For me, my teammates are mostly players who tend to make a lot of bad choices, do not pressure gens when they should, and give up easily when faced with adversity. The latter is what gets me the most, because continuing to play when the odds are stacked against you is what makes you better at the game. THE best games I have ever had in DBD were the ones against highly skilled killers who us survivors had a tug of war for match control, and end up persevering in the end with either a 2, 3, or 4 man escape and everyone on death hook.

  • I don’t enjoy falling victim to NOED, and only use it for 1 of my 2 endgame Trapper builds- but I do feel like it should be 100% completely reverted. The slight rework was unnecessary.

  • They will eventually buff the killer experience again (like they did last year), once they feel comfortable with the Solo Q experience being more aligned with SWF’s. Yes, it may appear to be harder at first- but we’ll adapt in the interim. A new killer meta may even be produced as a result of this. Eruption will still be King though, as the go to perk to deliver harsh blows to Solo Q.

  • Yea I get salty too (not in a rage type of way, just plain annoyed & smh) in those scenarios. Those type of matches happen even without perks like Rancor. I just chalk it up to misfortune and move on to the next match or switch to a different game entirely. Thankfully Rancor is not common, and when the few times it is in play- you have a 1 in 4 chance of being the obsession. So in other words, the odds of you falling victim to it are very low.

Rancor does feel cheap like getting Tombstoned, but at least with Rancor you get a warning (seeing the killer’s aura every time a gen is completed) and the Mori takes place during the end game. There are a few cheap mechanics this game can do without- especially in 2023.

  • 5 - 10 mins of doing nothing? Yea, I’m for them getting crows. That’s beyond ridiculous. Just plain cowardice & selfishness at that point.

  • @Marik1987 said:

1.) Remove the 4%-Option, instead, make Deliverance able to use in 2nd stage too

2.) Disable the "leave match"-option. If u use task manager then, youll receive a 15min penalty

Problem: In SWF, Gens would go faster, because no one has to leave his gen for the rescue anymore.

So if someone uses it, Gens are blocked afterwards or anything. Its kinda hard to find a solution.

I say leave Deliverance as is, but restore Reassurance to PTB status. The reasoning behind the nerf was ridiculous. It wasn’t going to be abused by 3 man SWF’s solely to troll 1 solo teammate. Dumb.

  • It’s poor sportsmanship. Too many killers wouldn’t finish their matches if they were losing. That’s not an ok thing, and it’s not a healthy way of thinking. This is not “conceding,” it’s being a poor sport and a sore loser (IMO).

Maybe give the killer an option to concede via in game menu and at least “X” amount of survivors would have to accept the concession in order for it to go through? Just spitballing an idea.

  • I advise you to use the bio and gamertag you want for yourself permanently, and just let the achievement happen naturally. Play the game to have fun, and it will eventually pop.

It sounds like you’re having the adverse effect by going this route, so instead of it happening quicker- it’s taking longer than anticipated.

Im 100% ok with that. I leave every time. I think toxic people should be punished. Including killers who slug and force people who bleed out.

    Agreed on both counts.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Pretty much the only way to save is hook trading. Or bring Reassurance and make sure the killer is wasting time at the hook.

The level of interactivity with this killer is pretty sad and does attract some of the worst type of players to “main” him.

This is exactly what I feared- the devs gave campers another option. Sigh. They really had it right with PTB Reassurance. It felt like it was designed to punish campers. I don’t understand why they catered to the one or two players who were going to be kept in the game by a 3 man team trolling them on hook with it. Wasn’t worth it IMO.

  • @bunnyfengenthusiast I feel your frustration and disdain for rage quitters. I can’t stand them in this game or ANY video game for that matter. It’s disgusting that there are so many entitled players out there who have this immature attitude that if they’re having a miserable time, they’re just going to screw every one else over by leaving the match. How inconsiderate. These people need to grow up. I don’t understand why they continue to play the game if they don’t like vs. half the killer roster or being found first. Utterly ridiculous. Play something else then.

I think a perma-ban is too harsh, though. BHVR is a company after all trying to make a profit and needs to keep the player base thriving, in order to continue making money. They’re better off trying to correct the behavior of some of these inconsiderate people. I say increase the penalty sooner , and let these players know the community has had enough of their B.S and they need to learn some game etiquette. Those who can’t handle the harsher penalties will be forced to play something else once locked out for an extended period, causing them to ruin less games for the DBD community. They may even weed themselves out and won’t return. And for those who create an uptick in AFK’ng & Letting Go on hook, let those stats get tracked and dump habitual offenders into a pool with like-minded players. They all can soft ragequit on each other in one big circle jerk, until they can learn to play their games through- more consistently. Or, keep that same energy with rage quitters in general and dump those jerks into a ragequitting, circle jerk pool.

We also need to get away from the crutch of “bad internet” or “life happens.” Sure, they are both legitimate reasons why players leave in the middle of a live service game. But let’s be real here- that’s not what we are experiencing on a regular basis. What we are experiencing are CONSTANT DC’s from players who were either just downed by the killer, found first by the killer, realize who the killer is at the start of the match (*cough Nurse, *cough Twins), or just hooked. Absolutely childish. You can just tell these players are not ragequitting for the first time, and it’s way too convenient to have bad internet after just getting downed, found, or hooked (possible, I know- I’ve had my router and power take a 💩 on me mid-chase [once each in 3 years], but that’s super rare. That doesn’t happen to everyone consistently).

I don’t think you’re intention was positive. I think you just got rolled by a survivor group, and you want to change the game to make it easier for you.

I’m a survivor main who rarely plays killer (only for challenges). I won my last two games as killer before making this thread, and haven’t played since. Re-read my original post and you’ll see I intentionally presented it in a way to create a general discussion, hoping to leave little room for negativity- but somehow people here still always seem to find the negative in everything. Sigh.

Last year I played in a SWF with some friends of mine and they had between 1200 and 1500 hours... They didn't even know the basics of looping, all they did was hide xD You cannot tell me those guys were experienced survivors despite having tons of hours... And they played mainly survivor... now Imagine someone playing mostly killer xD

Not being able to loop is a skill issue. I think some people are getting experience mixed up with skill. You can still be bad at the game but be experienced. When I refer to experience, I’m referring to being familiar with basic game mechanics (button layout, objective of the game, how items work, familiar with killer powers, perk familiarity, etc.), how killers move, killer powers, and map familiarity. But again, let’s not get stuck on my idea to help new players- it’s just ONE idea I came up with and it doesn’t have to be THE answer. I’m looking for you guys to chime in with suggestions of your own to help new players (if the stain was to be removed).

    @usesPython said:

Not only is hiding your red stain a part of mindgaming, showing your red stain can also be used as a mindgame to bait a vault

    Very true.

    @SMitchell8 said:

More challenging so yes, a good idea. Having a hard-core mode with mo hud, red stain or TR would be simpler and atleast casual players can continue playing the traditional way

I always felt like KWF/KYF(?) mode should receive a slew of toggles/settings/customization, and everything you listed should be included in that. Once the lobby is created, it can go public (if desired) and randoms could join for a portion of the main game’s BP. As a horror enthusiast and former immersive player, I could definitely get behind this.

    @Chaos999 said:

This would nerf killers on high level gameplay and buff them in low level game.

Kind of the opposite of what you want, so I don't think it's a good idea.

I personally don’t want anything- I’m asking you guys on your thoughts.

Mclean who was one of the main game designers (who is no longer with the project) got extremely pissed off whenever anyone mentioned removing the red light.

A very simple fix would be to remove it and allow survivors to "get it back" with a perk. This would mean you must use a perk slot to have the information.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3287644#Comment_3287644

What you mean is: the game works at low levels of play but not high levels because the red light exists.

Another simple fix would be : After hitting MMR rating of 'X' for the first time you don't ever see the red light again.

    Interesting as well…

    @DBDVulture said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3286619#Comment_3286619

"like you can already hide your red stain by moonwalking"

Most loops have no way to hide the information either because the killer is too tall or because the loop has nowhere you can hide the light. Show me on an autohaven tile set where you can do it. Ok how about corn maps? Nope.

But WHY should the killer need to do an extra step and hide their light? As an observer looking at the game for the first time it makes DBD look like you're watching a Scooby Doo chase scene montage.

Seeing the red light is a level of free information that is on the level with :aura reading.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3286619#Comment_3286619

-"Punishing somebody for playing your game a lot doesn't seem like a good idea"

Do you understand the concept of training wheels? The red light mechanic is 100% a hand holding aspect of the game that should "go away" with the option to keep it on - if you still need it.

Looping as a survivor is mostly a joke because you always have this gleaming red light ( that some player abuse but I'm not allowed to elaborate due to moderation) to tell you exactly what to do.

-"So if it goes it should go completely and that would be harder for newer players who already have it rough against killers and barely make a difference against experienced players as they go against killer who know how to hide their red stain"

Low level players dont understand what it means to be that close to the killer nor do they look behind them when looping or throwing pallets.

Again I say: Keep the red light as an option that is always available as a generic level three perk. If you still need the training wheels red light perk bring it - but in so doing you give up a perk slot forever.

That would be fair to the killer.

All valid points and interesting take…

    @DBDVulture said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3288247#Comment_3288247

"I don't think the red light is training wheels... The red light really does not reach that far so I simply don't understand the issue you have with this mechanic."

So then it won't matter if we remove it. I'm glad you agree. You can't have your argument go both ways - lol.

"Also it would also affect killers in a negative way, by showing or not showing your red light around a TL wall you can make the survivor vault or not vault when pulled off properly, by removing the option you removed an option for the killer to influence survivors behaviour, why would you want that?"

This is incorrect and it is telling that you don't understand this. Survivors have the ability via perfect positioning on blind loops to avoid a hit by standing in the correct place and waiting. Removing the red light would delete these safe zones.

You know how a Huntress can zone you at a T/L? Well now all killers would be able to do that because you dont have omniscience about where they are coming from.

Overall the killer would be much less predictable which would raise your adrenaline levels while being chased to something that you might not have felt back since your first month as survivor.

    Valid…

Whippets can’t be half as bad as whatever smart ass3s & negative people use to cope. J/s

The reason why I stress whenever I try to play killer is because you're never ever on a break. survivors get to at least do a gen without any skills and relax while being a killer you have to be on chase constantly, looking out for gens constantly, there's literally no breaks and that's why it stresses me 😭

But I'm trying my best to not think about winning and at least trick my mind into thinking that playing killer is fun! It is a game after all :D

That’s the other thing- I used to do the same: try to play for hooks, not to win. That works GREAT in low MMR, but once you get your killer to mid-MMR, ######### starts to get dicey. It’s almost like you’re goated into getting competitive, because the survivors no longer need you to hold their hands. Gens start flying, while you’re wondering why all these pallets that are getting dropped on your head don’t seem to be around when you play as a survivor. 😂

To me if I don’t “dial in/get focused,” then I’ll barely get any hooks let alone kills. And that’s why I said even when I 4K, a lot of times I don’t have fun. I had to work my ass off for that 4K- especially since I try not to tunnel or camp. ONE match feels like I just got out of playing three consecutively. And this is exactly why I felt @Wampirita statement on not playing many matches at once. Take a break after one. This is usually what I do, but yesterday I had a lengthy killer challenge so I did two back to back. Remember what I said to myself when I was starting my second match? I didn’t even really want to play it. I was doing it solely to put a dent in the challenge (hook obsession 8 times).

But this is just my experience. I’m quite content maining survivor. I’m an older gamer who plays videogames to decompress and not stress, and killer kind of contradicts that for me. I get enough stress at my two full time jobs!

The punishing for playing the game was towards the removing of the red stain after x hours

Not everyone reaches experienced level of play even after 1000 hours. I would even say the mayority doesn't

I like the red stain as a mechanic, clever killers can even use it to their advantage at places.

If you play ghostface a bit you'll know that not having a red stain really doesn't change that much against good players.

I respectfully disagree- after 1000 hours in this game, a player is very well experienced. But it’s ok- I understand you don’t like the idea and I respect it. Again, it was just a possible solution I came up with to help new players. Not the end all be all answer for it.

Big no in my opinion. It would completely wreck not only newer but also casual players.

Learning to hide red stain is a part of mindgaming anyway.

I don't think killers need more base kit buffs, at least until solo buffs arrive. I'd much rather have BHVR take the time to actually address each killer's issues through addon passes or reworks than make a general buff and call it a day.

“Learning to hide red stain is a part of mindgaming anyway.” This is true.

  • I say give habitual ragequitters longer ques, and throw them in a pool with fellow habitual ragequitters. Then they can circle jerk each other in that small pool, ragequitting on each other. To get out, they’ll have to start playing their matches all the way through, consistently.

Hours are not a reprisentative of skill

Punishing somebody for playing your game a lot doesn't seem like a good idea

So if it goes it should go completely and that would be harder for newer players who already have it rough against killers and barely make a difference against experienced players as they go against killer who know how to hide their red stain

So pass for me, i think it would do more harm then good

I agree, hours are not an absolute indicator of skill- but I didn’t say that. I was speaking of new players. Whatever the value of “X” is, would be up to the devs to decide what is a fair amount of time for a new player to get acclimated to the game’s mechanic’s. And that’s what it’s really all about- someone who has never played before, getting a chance to learn killer movement like everyone before them did. But this doesn’t even have to be the answer. It was just an idea I offered to help new players, and that’s why I prefaced it with “maybe.”

If removing the stain would “barely make(s) a difference against experienced players…,” then how would that be “punishing somebody for playing your game a lot…??”

I wonder how people come up with these ideas.

Some of us try to create topics to create a positive discussion in the section of “General Discussions,” unlike some of the negative passive aggressive members who post in said topics, not adding anything to the discussion. But hey- to each their own right?

    you don't, really.

It only gets worse the better you become, and start facing survivors that will absolutely obliterate you and will make sure to send you an entire list on how to off yourself.

There will be times where you'll have games that won't leave you anxious, but you'll be put back to your place like next match.

You could always learn top tier killers that will give you a win most of the times, but then you won't have much satisfaction from game.

My personal solution is to not play many matches at once, play one, take a break for like an episode of your favorite show, play another. Value your mental health :D

Holy crap, this person @Wampirita absolutely NAILED IT. WORD FOR WORD.

I am a survivor main and do not find playing killer that much satisfying- even if I win. The only time I truly enjoy playing killer, is if I 4K with a meme build (I don’t intentionally camp or tunnel, so that’s very hard to do consistently). Yesterday I was playing killer to get challenges done, and the first thing I said to myself at the beginning of the second game was: “I don’t know how ppl enjoy/have fun maining killer- this ######### is too stressful.” And sure enough my second game was much tougher than the previous (really seems like that’s intentional sometimes). I still 4ke’d, but it was a PIA and I didn’t enjoy myself.

Three years in and I still get anxiety @svtore. Even the occasional heart pound trying to down that one survivor who looped me for days and the 2nd to last gen is about to pop somewhere.

  • I’m all for getting rid of aura reading perks, items, and add-ons. Maybe even the killer’s red stain, too.

I do know it is 4v1, I play the game (although I play solo queue and that is at best 2v1 usually). But that doesn’t help me understand why the killer should be able to see who is in the lobby.

Play killer more to get a better understanding of why this is.

Hell, I would take it a step further and allow killers to switch their characters.

    "Thrived for years"?

I guess the one year+ of rainbow rank mess and red rank skill mush have never happened?

People tend to see those times way too much through rose colored glasses since sbmmr. It wasn't really better back then.

Well, from MY personal experience- it was better. When I lost, it was because the killer outplayed my team. Not because Claudette with 1 hour was Urban Evading in the corner for half the game, or Nancy farming right after the killer hooked someone, or entitled babies ragequitting because they were found/downed first.

*puts on “rose colored glasses” 🤓
