  • No, that would be punishing the killer for playing well- most of the time. Now as far as cry baby teammates who ragequit on hook goes, thems the breaks. It sucks, I know- but if anyone should be inconvenienced it should be the survivors.

  • @C3Tooth said:

Despite all the survivors' nerf. I do think survivors are fine (on most part though).

The only problem that is tunneling, people said give killer a sword instead of a knife they would stop tunneling, but instead they tunnel with the sword.

    lmao good analogy.

Oh, so its OKAY for killer to have 40% win rate right?

    RIGHT?

    I blame SWF’s for that.

Would it be too much to ask for at least half of the useless items and add-ons survivors have to do something? *Glares at broken key, green map, all the medkits that should have been just merged into one since they are all the exact same, etc.

Broken Key & Green Map are definitely useless alone, but they each have an add-on that makes them viable. For the Broken key, I use the purple ring so I can get a poor-man’s Bond on the obsession (more useful than you would think). For the green map, I use the string/chord add-on that lets you see the killer’s belongings, along with a slow map burning add-on. Those add-ons pretty much turns the green map into an Iri map.

But I get the gist of what you’re saying- the add-on that eliminates skill checks on toolboxes or lessens the noise of your repairs, are antiquated; they don’t fit today’s DBD. Neither does the map add-on to see the exit gates or use a marker. All straight doo-doo inventory cloggers.

Killers have useless add-ons as well, to be fair.

  • After playing My Little Oni, she is definitely doable and would put another unique aspect for both killer and survivor gameplay- just like Chucky did. BHVR should make it happen.

  • I only do it if a survivor was being a jerk and was constantly BMing me during the match.

You can stand a little to the right, in front of the hooked survivor (their camera will show killer head nodding up close up) or just to the right of the hooked survivor for complete body shot of both you and your floating victim, as you nod away (victim’s camera, of course).

Yes, your sensitivity affects how quickly you nod.

  • My experience is different. I play in the US East, mostly in the late afternoon up until 1 or 2am. Either it’s myself or someone else getting tunneled out ASAP by a killer with Lethal Pursuer. No body blocking by unhooked; just the killer straight breaking off chase to return to hook to get the same player he downed a moment ago. No killer following tracks to only realize it’s the unhooked and might as well down them again. It’s just blatant clear as day tunneling. Rinse and repeat for 3rd down. Killer has to get that first survivor found, out the game ASAP. No wonder so many survivors run Distortion and Off the Record.

  • I invested way too much money into this game to walk away now. Even before things started to upset me, I invested a lot. I’m going to keep voicing my opinion on what should be changed, because my dollars contributed to the development of the game. I can’t help but have hope things will get better at some point.

Besides, as much as I love Texas Chainsaw Massacre, it’s not enough to dethrone DBD as my number one main game. Neither is Overwatch 2 which is also sucking balls these days. I left GTA Online a year ago because of the futuristic nonsense and blatant shady monetization practices. Until GTA 6 comes out, I have no other game that interests me for being my number 1. So for now, DBD it is, and I’m going to complain online to blow off my frustrations.

It's for sure solo survivors. A good killer can deal with SWFs, sorry if that isn't you.

not sure why you making things personal by being passive aggressive, you can get your point across without being butthurt someone has a different opinion than you.

Solo survivors complain about camping and tunneling because SWF’s make the game difficult for a lot of killers. So a lot of killers feel the need to camp and tunnel every match- even at 5 gens. If Killers had to only face solos, they wouldn’t need to sweat so much.

  • Survivors in general are not the problem- it’s 3 or4 man SWF’s who make balancing this game miserable for Killers and solo que survivors.

  • With this Twins rework/buff, this combo may be warranted.

  • Whenever you do find one, slug one and more often than not- they’ll crawl in the direction the other one is hiding. This will give you a very poor man’s version of Premonition for killers, but at least it’ll help narrow down the part of the map they’re in. If you still can’t find them, at least you punished one of them by slugging, thus making his time feel wasted- then when he bleeds out, EGC starts. Hopefully you find Hatch first and exit gates are not too far away. But having unknown is good for guarding the gates with his husks in fairly close proximity.

Now as far as finding that first one, keep checking lockers and mix up your movement- sometimes doubling back may throw them off guard and leave them exposed from whatever area they were hiding in. They have to move around a bit to avoid crows. Walking back and forth in the same spot does not work. Your biggest problem would be totems. They could do the totem cheese to avoid crows.

  • @OneGoodBoyDemo said:

Dark theory in its current state is not worth it. It's the only Boon that only has 1 effect compared to others and need a buff.

Since in theory it's a chase perk and I'd like to keep that theme. my buff would be:

    • give 2,5 haste ( survivors movement 4,1 m/s )

    • give 10% vaulting speed

    • show the auras of Windows and downed pallets in range of the totem

Now this perk would be decent.

    I agree.

I’m guessing the devs are taking into consideration all of the other Haste perks (Blood Pact, Hope, Teamwork: Power of Two, Made for This, etc.) stacking with DT, would make it difficult for a lot of killers to catch a good survivor, if DT was any higher than 2%. The only caveat is that they can’t get hit, and their Blood Pact/Teamwork: PoT partner has to be close by and can’t get hit either- but keep in mind they too will get the Haste Boost. We all know a coordinated SWF would be able to pull this off with two keeping the killer busy while the other two rush gens. So I guess 2% it is. Definitely not the best by itself for beginners and a lot of intermediate survivors.

  • why would they do that to her but give a top 5 killer like huntress a buff??

  • I’m not 100% sure but it feels like they changed the timing for flashlighting; seems like the window is tighter. I suck with them and now i struggle to even blind killers at pallet breaks. They have time to look up or down just as im about to get the blind, so it fails.

  • Everytime it happens to me, I say to myself: “I can’t believe people still do this in 2024…”

I just look for breakaway walls to get points and try to stay away from the exit gates as far as possible, so as not to give them the satisfaction. Immature as hell.

  • Look at him while running away to get rid of his effect, and it’ll be gone before he get the next blast off- which causes a hit. Rinse and repeat as long as you can.

Yea, same for me. I used to hate going against Hex: Plaything, but since Hexes are so rare these days, I don’t roll my eyes like I used to when I see it.

It’s gonna be hard getting used to getting so little amount of bloodpoints in rough matches

This. I was in the middle of the match when the event ended, and got stomped by the killer. I was thinking at least I’ll still get some decent BP out of the ordeal, but only came back to 10k on the results screen.

Predator: I used it once or twice before and I found that it actually makes scratch marks even harder to follow.

Sole Survivor: I hate the very idea of the perk.

I agree- Predator needs a rework. I don’t understand how a Perk that sounds good on paper actually makes things more difficult when in use.

I’m surprised yall dislike Soul Survivor. I have a meme build with it, and it once helped me escape the trial from a Wraith with that wall hack add-on. I heard his snarling and foot steps but I had no idea what direction he was coming from, even with my headphones on. I just stopped moving dead in my tracks and crouched down behind something.

As for perks I can’t see myself using:

Predator: for the reasons mentioned above

No Mither: I can barely last long in chase with two health states, so why play on Veteran Difficulty by equipping this perk?

    Premonition: poor man’s Spine Chill

Red Herring: requires too much thought and execution to utilize this perk successfully. There will be plenty of matches you won’t be able to get value from it, so it’s pretty much useless.

  • It’s not OP; it’s just right. I use it on Myers with 3 other Gen slow down perks. My win rate went up when I started using it as well. Surge was a slept on perk for months. I noticed a lot of killer perks are, at release.

Surge is very annoying to go against when playing survivor. Especially with killers who have Pop and get downs fairly quickly. It’s like raking up a pile of leaves just to have some little kid come through and randomly dive through the pile often.

  • I disagree. Instead, give them incentives not to tunnel. Killers should receive extra BP or some sort of Bloodlust stack that works like STBFL. Hell, why not both?

This would only be true if killers were on average better players than survivors, which is highly doubtful. The problem is they're balancing the game for coordinated high MMR SWFs on coms and not taking into account low-mid mmr solo q which is where most their playerbase is.

Assuming I remember correctly, the offerings are listed in a line. That line correlates to the order that survivors are listed on the side of the screen. So you can figure out who brought what by comparing the two.

Is it: Left to Right coordinates with Top to Bottom?

It's because bps have a hidden effect. The game doesn't explain it properly but basically the additional effect is:

Increases the likelihood that the killer will proxy camp and tunnel you specifically at 5 gens by 100%

As you can see, it's almost always better to just burn escape cakes.

Akin to the hidden effect of bringing Purple Medkits: Summons Plague or Legion.

They seem to at least grasp the idea that whoever gets found first is going to be tunneled out. To ensure their own experience, they are taking steps to mitigate the risk.

    Doesn't sound like new players.

The blame isn’t on matchmaking; it’s on players who tailor a specific experience for themselves by lobby shopping. And that still isn’t really something survivors do easily, unlike… killers.

My first two posts (especially my first) place blame on the matchmaking. I already stated in my first post I am not a fan of lobby dodging. Fix the matchmaking so mid-tier players can play with similar skilled teammates and killers. New players who ragequit when they get put up against 3K+ hour killers are not learning anything, and it’s not fair for mid-tier teammates having to endure both type of players in the same trial. I shouldn’t be subjected to both, especially when the old ranking system was more consistent with fairer matches. I rather wait 10 mins to get into a game with every single player having similar skill on both sides, as opposed to getting into a lobby within 2 mins, only to have masked meg in default clothes be my teammate to face off against Flaming hot Cheetos on the keyboard, Blight. Then she kills herself on first hook out of frustration, because it’s her third Lethal Pursuer user in a row who’s downed her within the first minute. Yea, she’s learning alright…

    Blame is on the matchmaking.

So slow down survivors. Ok. But what about killers? You pointed out that the longer survivors remain in the match the greater their chance of losing, but then just said they should be slowed down with secondary objectives and increased base gen times. I kept waiting for some inkling of like balance because you admitted survivors die in longer games but then, like, nothing. lol. So does it start and stop there?

I pointed out why it’s in the survivors best interest to rush gens, to show there isn’t any bad intent. Gen rushing has a very negative connotation in our community, and it really shouldn’t because survivors don’t have anything else to do. So in order to reduce these fast competitive games of gen rushing, camping, and tunneling- I made suggestions to slow the match down a little. Hopefully this will incentivize killers to actually play and chase more, allowing them not to have to rely so heavily on camping and tunneling. Hopefully that will translate into more fun matches for both sides: survivors get to do something else besides hold W, survivors don’t have to feel like they wasted their time and money on a game that allows one person to ruin the experience by tunneling and camping them out the match in 5 minutes, and killers get quality chases without the pressure of gens flying.

PTB & community feedback will determine whether it starts or stops there.

  • Yes. It's become too competitive, thus creating an atmosphere where both sides feel the need to get their respective objectives completed as soon as possible.

Not making excuses for survivors, but there really is nothing else for them to do but gens. It's in their best interest to do gens and get the hell out as soon as possible. Like any other decent Asymmetrical Survival Horror Game, the longer survivors/victims stay in game, the less of a chance they have to escape. This is because resources become scarce, making it easier for the killer to get hits/kills.

Killers with decent secondary objectives (Pinhead & Pig), should probably be modeled after when designing future killer powers. Maybe it's time for all killers to give survivors a secondary objective that punishes if ignored. Freddy's dream world needs to be more unforgiving and be in survivors' best interest to wake themselves up. Maybe being asleep should cause most actions to be hindered: running, vaulting, gen speed, healing, cleansing, opening, etc. Future Hexs should be on the same level as Hex: Plaything & Hex: Pentimento. You can choose not to look for your totem, but doing so comes with a high risk. This is even more so on maps with poor sight lines & high structures. I say add a 6th totem to maps and hide them a little better. Small changes like these should lengthen matches a little longer. Hell, increase gen repair time by 6 seconds while you're at it.

I don’t think it’s fair that newbie survivors take the blame for terrible games, or that veteran players avoid them. The prestige 4 Meg with a mask may have a killer who lobby shopped until they found her lobby (quite likely). Newbies need space to learn but can’t learn if they’ve got a killer who lobby shopped for an easy game turbo tunneling them at 5 gens. I understand you both to be frustrated with subpar teammates but I think it’s important to shift the blame where it rightfully belongs. That isn’t on newbies

We are- we place the blame on Matchmaking for prioritizing shorter que times over quality matches. Doing the opposite would minimize the desire to lobby dodge/shop.

  • The players who would most benefit from your post don’t frequent these forums. I have a theory players like these are super casuals, and children. I bet you if mics were on in DBD for a weekend, the community would be floored by how many middle schoolers play this game.

  • Controversial/Hot take, but I still say SWF’s should have their own mode in Asymetrical Horror games. Just comms alone trumps anything most killers can do, and these games try to “balance” based on the efficiency of coordinated SWF’s, which indirectly make solo que even harder. Pair that up with a terrible matchmaking system, and you have yourself a recipe for solo que hell.

  • Funny enough, I encounter way more sucky P100’s than good ones. I know Prestige doesn’t equal skill, but to put that much dedication into leveling up one character, surely you should know all the do’s and dont’s of DBD? After all that time, some P100’s still play like Day 3 players. Smh. Maybe that’s why they get tunneled- tend to be easier prey.

My post history on this forum shows that I've been very anti-lobby dodging and frequently thrown my support behind BHVR doing something to stop it. They haven't really shown much concern about it beyond doing some small tests last year that we haven't heard anything about, so I've reached the point where I feel if BHVR are not bothered by it then I'm not gonna be bothered by it either. The last few days I've been lobby dodging and picking my team mates and honestly, I've had a much better experience. Escape rate hasn't changed, which is fine, just the quality of the matches I'm getting are so much more enjoyable. It's only been a couple days so it could just be a fluke at this point but I'm gonna test it out a bit more and see. Do you find the same sort of thing when you do it?

Yes, I’m exactly like you and have the same experience. I’m not a fan of lobby dodging either, but it’s frustrating knowing the system will use you as filler after “X” amount of que time has passed. I too can take my losses, but I prefer fairer matches where the killer outplayed me and my team of similar skill, rather than newbies giving up or making rookie mistakes. After games like those, it makes me question how many players before me were smart enough to dodge that lobby? A lot of times everyone will be readied up, including killer- and the lobby timer is shorter after I join. That indicates to me that players before me were leaving the lobby after seeing prestiged 4 masked Meg. 🤣

The existing advanced killer stands on the deceased intermediate killer corpse. They all left their bodies and their soul passed away.

If they can develop a legitimate adjustment that they can return, You will be blessed with a good match.

lol you make a good point. They say the middle class is shrinking/being eliminated IRL, so a fair comparison could be intermediate killers in DBD? 🤔

  • Absolutely- I feel like I lose 85% of my games as survivor. I rarely escape, and this has been a thing for almost two years now. I don’t like the whole escape = wins & raise in MMR mechanic. I wish it was based on how well you played, or at the very least- a combination of both. The amount of time spent in a match cushions your drop supposedly, but tunneling by killers takes care of that.

Matches are imbalanced. I get too many advanced players as killer vs. me and my 3 teammates who very inexperienced. And that’s because MM prioritizes filling a lobby quickly over quality matches where everyone is close in skill. I see it all the time when i end up in a lobby with single digit prestige Megs (mask Meg is my favorite), Dwights, and Fengs. The few times I didn’t lobby dodge hoping they were experienced players on a new account or console, I was sadly disappointed to learn they were indeed fairly new players who MM threw me in to play with them. I don’t think there is enough new Killer players to go around.

  • I prefer 50% because teammates in solo que add 25% more, making you feel like you’re on the wrong side of the 4 v 1.

  • Yea- ANY killer using Lethal Pursuer. Gawd I hate that damn perk.

  • Agreed. Map offerings should be removed; maps are not balanced properly. Some maps favor killer more than survivor, and vice versa. I will take it a step further: all maps should be set to a map priority of 50% for more diversity (even brand new ones on release). Also, there should no longer be polls for which maps the community wants prioritized during community events. Everything should be nice and even at all times.

  • We need more perks that encourage killers to go after all survivors and “spread the wealth.” Blood Warden & No Way Out had the right idea. The reward for going after a different survivor other than the last one unhooked, should be a very good one.

Also, Decisive Strike needs to be buffed back to a 5 second stun.

  • @BooomTetris said:

I imagine that’s the best way to escape, and the most rewarding. I salute those who were skilled enough to pull it off.

  • It’s 2023- bringing a cake means nothing. You could bring 4 and you will still get camped. I haven’t seen “Easing off the gas” or farming in over a year.

  • The Game is one of the more fairer maps that leans towards killer, but isn’t as bad as Dead Dawg Saloon or RPD. I don’t understand why BHVR nerfs survivor sided maps so hard that they now lean hard to killer. Why not stop in the middle? RPD & Eyrie of Crows are perfect examples.

  • @ReverseVelocity said:

It's a pretty good perk but doesn't really do anything if you get hard tunneled off the hook. It's good just in case you get caught out by the killer before you can get a heal or something.

Off the Record still does the exact same thing as it did on release though. The Endurance was added on top of the existing effects.

Oh, my mistake- for some reason I thought it worked different and was better. Having the exit gates cancel out the perk now, does suck though.

  • I prefer the original Off the Record than this rework. Sometimes I wish we could choose which version of a perk we can use- like OG Ruin vs. the re-work we have now. Or make it OG Ruin is Tier 3 and what we have now is cosidered Tier 1 or 2 of the perk "Ruin."

  • @ratcoffee said:

I like the idea but I can see it being perceived as BM.

In Dota 2, there's a feature that lets people tip other players in-game with the Dota equivalent of BP. Often people will give a tip to an opponent they just killed, as if to say "thanks for feeding me a free kill." Dota leans into the culture of toxicity in a way that works for that game, but it is worth keeping in mind, especially since I see a lot of complaints about toxicity elsewhere on the forum

That's a perfect example of people taking something positive and turning it into something negative.

This is why i'm not a fan of "gg." Too many times I've run into the same opponents repeatedly who only say "gg" when they win. When they lose, it's crickets in the chat. My favorite is when matchmaking gives me and them a "rematch," and they lose the second game after winning the one prior. What happened to "gg's" there, buddy?? Oh I get it- it's only "gg" when you win. Lame.

  • I give the current state a 4/10. Once it gets to 3/10, I'm done. I enjoyed the game before MMR was introduced. Every time I play, I keep chasing that high I will never get back.

  • Give me Lethal Pursuer re-work/nerf and I’ll gladly hand over Made for This to the chopping block.

  • I keep going and do the best I can. Now if it’s against a killer who is downing & hooking the rest of us pretty quickly, then I may just give up on my second hook so the last person can have a chance at hatch. This is definitely the case if 4 or 5 gens are still remaining to be completed.
