  • Does anyone know why the turrets sometimes fail to kick it out of crawler mode? I see it getting burned, and hear it screaming- yet it still stays crawling.

  • Sounds like a gen jockey’s counter to Sloppy Butcher.

  • Getting tunneled and camped out is not fun; hence the complaints.

Killers should be buffed in other ways that do not feel cheap to go against. Every killer from now on should give survivors secondary objectives like Pig, Onryo, Pinhead, Alien, etc. to help add another dynamic to gameplay that waste survivors time and give them something else to worry about. Everyone I listed above is fun to go against when they play survivors straight up. When Pinhead came out with the Pento/Plaything Meta, he dominated. As hard as that was, I enjoyed the challenge (like you mentioned earlier) of trying to beat that build. My solo que teammates kept ragequitting and letting go on hook. I hated Pinhead’s guts but I did not complain- despite escaping from him 1 out of 10 times.

  • What’s wrong with doing the back and forth between exit gates with Unknown? He can teleport which is advantageous. You could even mind game and pretend to walk away far enough for your terror radius to leave one gate then immediately teleport back with a well placed and hidden husk and catch the last survivor off guard.

Hatch is needed for those solo players who actually played the game and tried their best, but had terrible teammates. Solo que is already a miserable experience; at least let them have an opportunity to get out. It’s a 50/50 and not considered a win for them if they use it. All they are doing is escaping. These days I rather bet the farm by letting the killer find it and wait at an exit gate. I’ll take my chances trying to mind game the first exit light or go all out and stay on the exit switch while hoping the the hatch was far away and the killer checks the other door first.

  • i don’t understand why players play like that in an event mode. I’ve seen this too many times as well, and it was obvious the killer was not going for any event BP. I don’t know why they even bothered burning the rod if they were not interested in getting the bonus points.

And this goes ditto for survivors ragequitting at 5 gens because they don’t like the killer or got downed first.

  • I agree; the game should not allow you to que if your ping is too high.

When I see players with high ping, sometimes I wonder if they’re playing on Xcloud via a tablet or cell phone. It’s almost impossible to hit great skill checks on that connection. I never thought to look at my ping, the two times I tried it.

  • what region do you play in?

  • I use Windows a lot, but I’ll gladly hand it over if Lethal Pursuer can get the axe too.

  • Are you saying it’s screwing with your MM for the standard game, making your matches unfairly harder?

  • Shadow Step is best used with other Boons or an aura denying build. By itself it’s not very good. I’ve used it by itself and got very little value from it. It’s stationery and there are too many variables that has you constantly moving around the map.

  • An OG perk like Dying Light is still pretty damn good in 2024, and I feel like it’s underrated. I like the consistency of the perk and how it gets stronger the better I play. Then there is the mindfulness needed to not kill the obsession but keep them incapacitated so DL stays in play.

I’m in low-mid MMR, so I get a lot of value out of Overcharge. It helps me to get back in chase if I can’t find anyone close by that gen.

Wake Up is underrated. Sometimes I may forget to pay attention to where the exit gates were, or I was in chase while they were powered on and missed the visual notification. But my favorite use of the Perk is opening the gates in time while on death hook, knowing for sure if I did not have it equipped- the killer would have stopped me from opening the gate.

Bond is essential in Solo que, but funny enough it’s not Meta. You get a ton of information from that OG perk and like knowing when a survivor is headed my way while they are in chase, or pairing up with a teammate on a gen, or going over to heal a teammate who is injured or find one to heal me while I’m injured.

  • Windows is fine as is. Not everyone can adapt to the constant map and tile changes every chapter and mid-chapter update. I can watch all the loop guides in the world, but having killers who are two pay grades above you, that know how to manipulate their red stain and push you to the weak side, I need every help I can get. Besides, nerf Windows and something else will just take its place and become the new Meta/problem.

The only thing that ever depleted all my stacks was huntress and scratched mirror Myers. It was impossible to run out 95% of the time. Waving your hand at "aura perks" doesn't mean anything.

Do not put words in my mouth. No one is “waving” their hand at anything. I did not say anything negative about aura perks in this post, let alone imply anything in that direction. I simply mentioned how Distortion tokens get eaten up by them.

Maybe you’re in high mmr in a different region than mine, where the killers do not run enough aura perks & add-ons that use up your tokens. But in low-mid mmr on North American servers, I have a different experience. In addition to the two you mentioned, I get a lot of Chucky’s wall hacking in Hidey-Ho, Wraith with All-seeing Blood, Nurse with all the good aura reading perks (with Nowhere to Hide being the most devastating), and other killers running Lethal Pursuer and Barbecue- or worse, LP & Barbecue running on everyone who has aura add-ons (Pig, Clown, etc).

  • I agree. I always felt Distortion needed a buff, not a nerf. You can burn through stacks easily when going against aura reading add-ons and perks

Only if there were a huge enough bp bonus to make up for getting downed by a huntress from across the map, with a bear trap on my head, with a cursed tape in my hand and a chain hunt about to start.

Imagine going against Freddy, Plague and Doctor.

You would be asleep, sick and mad. You wouldn't even see the fourth killer coming.

now that’s my kind of party…cause ill be the fourth killer.

  • Agreed. I like it too. Nice touch, devs.

So Survivors just want all Slowdowns??? Alright bring back old COB, Overcharge, Eruption and Pain res meta

I want Aura perks removed on both sides. That’s why I stated you shouldn’t be able to see the “Opposition.”

And yes, bring back the old Gen regression. I’m also for the OG Day 1 Ruin where you needed to hit great skill checks for progression.

So new TOME ..150% survivor bonus so far 3 hours. Wait time for game is 7 min …most longer as only 3 survivors are in. Tell me again the role of survivor isnt becoming more and more unpopular to play. I just got Sable to level 4.… Not one party streamer, not one commodious toolbox. So now we are taking away add ons on see. That's smart

I hopped on for Survivor around 5:30pm EST (NA Server) and it was 25% for the first match. When I qued up for the second, it was 150% and I was shocked. Didn’t expect to see that for a mid-chapter release day. The last few days stemming all the way from the past weekend, the survivor bonus (no matter the percentage) has been pretty consistent. There was only a killer incentive once, when I played- and I played a lot this weekend. Just like you said, I too was wondering if Survivor was becoming unpopular.

This most likely is just a one off however, and things will return back to normal (killer and survivor incentive percentages alternating & remaining at or lower than 100%).

  • Aura reading is not healthy for the game, and there are way too many perks that allow you to see the opposition. It feels cheap to go against. At the very least these need to be dialed back and no more aura reading should be implemented in future perks. If it was up to me, I would keep Barbecue and Kindred, then delete the rest.

  • I had to Google which skirt you were referring to, and I was hoping it wasn’t the one I like the most- and sure enough it is. This may be a visual bug. Someone reported it:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/429279/feng-min-poor-connection-visual-bug

  • Please zoom in on Nancy’s arms. All survivors have this wireframe bug and it’s more prominent in game. The pics don’t do it justice.

  • I main Trapper but he is my least favorite to go against. Sometimes I would say to myself “I’d rather face a Nurse right now.”

Even though I rarely get caught in traps, it’s the inconvenience of seen traps shutting down loops and the paronia of wondering if a trap is in this tall grass or on the other side of that window you want to hop while being chased. That paronia is so mental, I take it with me into my next match and immediately start watching the floor when the game starts. Now that’s nuts.

  • Who hates on Pentimento? It’s definitely not weak, otherwise it wouldn’t be in a lot of builds. I have a couple of anti-hex builds, so whenever I run into Pentimento- getting rid of totems is very satisfying. If I don’t have those builds, then looking for totems is challenging but in a fun way.

Any survivor mains who didn’t mind original undying and ruin? Finding those and escaping was very gratifying.

  • Report? You should’ve given the Nurse a thumbs up because it sounds like Leon was enjoying it…

  • Lobby dodging due to prestige was not a loud minority; there were a substantial amount of players doing it. Killers would leave if they saw P100’s, and potential teammates would leave if their fellow survivors prestige levels were not on par with what they deemed acceptable. The crazy thing is, a lot of P100 survivors are actually bad at the game. And I don’t mean bad as in looping, but bad decision making and lack of game sense for someone who has been playing that long.

Red Ranks were a better flex and badge of honor, because it told everyone you knew what the hell you were doing. It was a better measurement and testament to how well you played the game.

  • Bat into Wolf is a rough combo to deal with. I haven’t played with him yet so I can’t exactly say if he is overtuned, but I’m ok with him in his current state- for the most part. I don’t like finding out the hard way that his flames actually go through obstacles you wouldn’t think it would, like medium size rocks (waist high).

  • Regression itself is ok, but the instant regression perks like Overcharge & Pop Goes the Weasel shouldn’t have been nerfed. Also, kicking gens should not have a kick limit,

  • @Thusly_Boned said:

The maps have been noticeably shrinking (maybe too much in some cases), so at this point I'm gonna go with no on that question.

And I don't think the gates are too fast to open, but I do think they should regress (so no more 99ing gates).

But along with that change, I would find some way to code things so gates never spawn too close together (and never on the same wall, which is ridiculous).

I agree and like the idea of the gates regressing..

    • The fog as you know it, is completely gone. (Disbelief)
    • Nurse is still the best killer in the game & stronger than ever due to increased aura reading perks (Concern lol)
    • Chucky (they will definitely want to know how in the hell he hooks survivors) [Confusion]
    • Red Ranks removed in favor of SBMM (Concern & Confusion)
    • 2 vs. 8 (Disbelief)

So now you're forcing the killers to go around together the whole match and double-team every survivor, or else be descended upon by a flock of flashlights.

I thought getting double-teamed was unfair and boring?

It’s also not efficient for the killers. Every 2v8 match I was in where the killers constantly teamed up on survivors, a lot of us would escape. A decent amount would be on death hook, but they escaped nonetheless.

I love the restaurant analogy except you got it wrong. Basically I came into the restaurant to have a cup of coffee and talk to a friend but you're telling me it's rude and I should order food and eat it and be quiet so you can enjoy your food. That's a much closer analogy. If you wanted a restaurant with quiet you should have chose one that caters to it. Nuff said

No, I had it correct. It’s expected for people to socialize at restaurants; you talking to your friend is not being rude. No decent person would fault you for that or complain about it. What’s not expected however, is someone laughing obnoxiously every 3 mins while banging on the table. Now that’s being rude, selfish and inconsiderate- just like ragequitting in DBD at the slightest inconvenience.

we do deal with them, regularly, but at some point we get that one game that we’re just over it and want to go next. So what? No one is quitting every game otherwise their dc penalty would be extreme and they wouldn’t be able to dc since they can’t even get into a game.

Am I going to dc cause I don’t like the killer? No

Am I gonna dc to avoid being bled out while he secures the 4k at 5 gens? Probably, because it’s going to cost me less time to find a new match than sitting here doing nothing.

solo q is miserable, you guys need to stop acting like it’s only bad sometimes and that leaving the game entirely is a solution. Why am I going to quit a game cold turkey when I can just go next? It’s not that serious

Stop gaslighting with crap like ragequitting, why in the world do you want me to stay in a match that my teammate is actively throwing at the start? It’s a matchmaking issue but if my teammate is ratting early, entire team is not doing gens while I’m in chase or one of the countless other scenarios you face in solo q(due to abysmal matchmaking), why do you think I or anyone else should stay in the game knowing full well the match is o v e r?

Why don’t you nag about the player who is actually throwing the match and ruining the experience? Nah, let’s just harp on the people who quit and didn’t try to come back from the 3v1 at 5 gens or those who looped for minutes while their team didn’t even manage to do 1 gen, yeah ok lol

You don’t DC because you don’t like the killer, but there are too many players that do. That is one of the points that OP is making with this thread. It’s not a theory, because we see it in game when you hear a Nurse screech then hear a “bong” sound followed by a “BOT” next to the name of the survivor who just DC’ed. Or even better, the un-aliving on hook after a quick down from Spirit who has Lethal Pursuer. Scratch that- ANY killer who gets a quick down with Lethal Pursuer.

I don’t know who acts like solo que isn’t miserable, but it sure isn’t me. I was one of the first to get on my soap box to say it is, and I have posts from over a year ago, to prove it.

“Going next” on first hook IS throwing the match and ruining the experience. There are too many players giving up for the slightest inconvenience, and these players are making the experience worse for those they leave behind in the match. It is that serious, and this is exactly why OP made this thread to bring awareness. It’s getting out of hand now. Players are even ragequitting at 2/3 gens now, with about half the amount of hook states for the team total. That’s ridiculous. Too many games where at least 3 survivors could have made it out, had that one person just sucked it up and hung in there. But instead it turns into a 4K for the killer.

  • @ShiroSaburo said:

I think it does. If killers wanted to play against bots then they picked custom match.

No, I do not think so. They’re not very good, but they are better than nothing. The best thing about them is that they do not deprive the killer of blood points or the potential to complete a Tome challenge, when a survivor DC’s.

  • @Grigerbest said:

I don't know what is going on today, but today I wanted to do killer challenges and have some fun chases…

But as soon as I load up - there are 1-2 survivor players instantly leaving the match, it happening so often today, I know the reason why are they leaving, and I felt like… Let's have a "final" conversation on that part…

I'm not going to create anymore similar threads about it personally, and this is my message to this topic:

Dear survivor players - if you q-ed up to a match - be ready to face ANY killer from the whole cast of characters. Do not expect to face only killers that YOU like.

Leaving from a match as soon as you heard a hatchet, or saw a xeno's stations or etc - Is just bad, spineless, low and embarrassing towards your fellow teammates.

If you play as a survivor - first and foremost - you are a team player. Put your ego and preferences aside and think about other 3 or 2 players in your team and how your bad action is going to affect other players experience. If you don't care about other players in your team - don't play as a survivor, it's not for you.

Have some moral principles and basic respect to other players, not only other survivors, but also the killer. I'm playing both sides, I also have killers that I hate to face, but you will never find me DC as soon as I saw them, nor you'll find me DC if the match is going wrong. I have respect to other players and I want everyone in my team have a good time and I want to be useful to my team - this is why I play survivors regularly.

The mentality like this (DC first seconds of the match) - hurting the game. Hurting the experience, and creating a negative impression in new players about the game.

Pay some respect to other people that you play with. If you can't, don't want to, or don't care - don't play in a team, play as a killer alone.

Much love to all of you guys, sorry if I was a bit harsh, and have a beautiful day\evening. ❤❤❤

Very well said. I appreciate this post and agree with you whole heartedly.

    @Huge_Bush said:

The best solution is to queue up serial DC’ers in their own queue so they only ruin each others games. They can make it to where they can get back in the regular queue after playing through 10 matches without DCing. Probably should include people who suicide before 2 gens are completed and don’t have Kobe perks equipped.

    I like this idea.

    @Doxie said:

Dear survivor...even though you paid YOUR money to play a game you have to play it the way killers want you to play it. Sincerely Killer

Basically the same thing you said.

Even though I paid MY money in your restaurant, it doesn’t mean I can ruin the experience of your other customers. By what you’re suggesting I can, but that would be very inconsiderate of me. As the owner, wouldn’t you prefer I did not laugh obnoxiously every 3 mins and banging on the table- while others are trying to enjoy their meal? Just like the killer and other survivors in DBD, the other patrons of your restaurant are paying customers as well. They don’t deserve to have their experience ruined by someone being selfish.

OP is doing a PSA to encourage players to have some consideration & sportsmanship, because the DC’ng and quitting on first hook is on an uprise.

    @dwight444 said:

fix the crappy solo aspects of the game or people will continue to dc and give up. It's totally warranted, hopeless matches are no longer few and far between, they're pretty damn common in my experience (I see people with similar experiences on the forum but I can't attest to their experiences).

People play the game to have fun, nothing is fun about some guy tunneling a teammate out in the beginning which your solo team is unlikely to recover from because matchmaking sucks; so your 3 randoms have 0 clue how to handle the tunneling. Worst yet, trying to recover from this when 1 teammate is doing stuff like unhooking asap in front of killer or refusing to be a member of the team.

Nothing is fun about realizing at 4 gens that the game is over and dying now/quitting is the most efficient option to get the most out of your time. It takes forever to find a lobby, queue up, and load into the actual game (not accounting for lobbies where someone leaves and makes this much longer). Yet, your match can be determined in 2 minutes.

If there is this giant DC/give up pandemic, does no one have the idea to figure out why? Surely, we should advocate for harsher punishments which will drive people away from the game because no one is gonna get a 10 min DC and wait it out, they'll slowly gravitate to another game. These are the same solo q players you rely on to not have abysmal queue times….

Address tunneling being so rewarding, address the not-strategic forms of slugging, address players humping other players til they bleed out and not simply saying 'slugging is not a bannable offense' which is such an ignorant take, let solo players have some form of comms. At least make it seem like you have some sort of idea about the state of solo q and have plans to do something about it. Otherwise, let people quit if they want to. There are too many abusable mechanics in this game that make for a miserable time as an individual

I agree that hopeless matches are pretty damn common, and that’s a shame. I believe that is the direct result of SBMM in combination of having MM favor shorter que times over quality matches.

“There are too many abusable mechanics in this game that make for a miserable time as an individual:” I agree, but if myself and many more can deal with it, so can ragequitters if they really wanted to. It’s their sense of entitlement that does not allow them to. If someone truly believes there are too many miserable scenarios this game creates, then they should not play it if they feel the need to ragequit when encountering those scenarios.

  • I think its purpose is to alert you: “hey, even though you didn’t leave scratch marks here, someone else did and that may lead the killer to this area or your current hiding spot.

  • Although I personally don’t enjoy going against WA & Franklin’s, I believe the combo is fine. WA by itself is fine. I say this because it’s not Meta, but it’s viable enough to be used by killers. This gives us some variety in a very small pool of popular killer builds.

  • I’m ok with most of the changes except for Distortion. I always felt like Distortion should have started you out with 5 tokens instead of 3. Needing to be chased now in order to get another use out of it, kind of kills the perk. The amount of aura reads that will be given off you in a match, does not justify utilizing a spot to equip it. I don’t agree with the assumption that players can go all match without having their aura read. Only way that is happening with 3 tokens is if the player was purposely seeking out the killer’s terror radius to keep it recharged; who does that?

  • Overwatch 2 has matchmaking woes like the ones you described above. I believe it is due to SBMM being too wide, in conjunction with prioritizing faster que times over quality matches. Those two are a recipe to have more matches with newer players or super casuals.

  • Bubba, Onryo, and The Dredge.

  • Spine Chill, A Nurse's Calling, NOED, Ruin, Thano, Dying Light, Object of Obsession, and I was going to say Circle of Healing- but after some thought, it's any Boon perk.

The few times I got foiled by A Nurse's Calling this year, I yelled at my TV: "Who the f**** runs A Nurse's Calling in 2024??!!" I think I may even start experimenting with it; I don't think a lot of us expect it. The occasional Ruin throws me for a loop, too.

  • Thank you for sharing- I was not aware.

  • I feel like Ghostface is fine to go against. I don't know how he is to play as; I have not played with him.

  • I suspect you were trolled by a middle schooler, or at the very least- an adult with the mindset of a middle schooler.

  • SBMM was the worst thing to happen to this game. Ranking up should be based on how well you played, not escapes and kills.

  • Moving forward, there shouldn’t be any more Perks that increase gen speed. Killers complain that gens are flying as is, and they justify camping and tunneling as a result. I have Sole Survivor in one of my meme builds; I paired it along Wake Up, Spine Chill, & Resilience. The whole idea is to let the killer find hatch while waiting at an exit gate, then open it as quickly as possible when they close it.

I know it sounds terrible to have a perk that capitalizes on the demise of teammates, but I prefer to look at it more like it’s a contingency perk. I don’t play with the intent of always being the last survivor when I have that build equipped; it’s more like if it happens, ok this is how I maximize my chances of getting out through the exit gates. High risk, high reward. Most games I don’t get value from it (essentially playing perkless if I don’t see end game alone), but the few times I did- it was fun to watch the exit meter fill up so quickly. It’s a meme end game perk that adds a different mechanic to how we benefit from it, so I’m ok with it in its current state.

  • I wish PTB Reassurance would have made it to Live. I believe the intent was to punish killers for camping, and PTB Reassurance would have accomplished this for sure. The excuse the devs gave about nerfing it due to the fear of griefing the hooked, is ridiculous. Such a small minority would have done that, and it would have gotten old quickly. The devs could have found a better option to minimize trolling with it, like making the perk Token based.

  • I like the fear of NOED- especially if I’m healthy and the last one being chased as the last gen pops. I don’t like the aura reveal nerf that was added- you can tell this was to cater to newer players.

NOED is fine in my book. I have a serious problem with Lethal Pursuer on the other hand. It makes it easier to tunnel a player out the game.

1 … 3 4 5 6 7 … 40
