Skull Merchant was originally supposed to be Predator, but they missed the license

Chaos Shuffle throws only off-meta perks so that people would use them more instead BHVR having to nerf them

This is my theory as well, regarding skull merchant. She has both the clawed weapon and drones like Predator.

Eyrie of Crows finally getting the nerf it needs

It’s been nerfed twice already. Personally, I think it’s overrated. The main is trash now since the god pallet is either gone or has really low RNG (can’t remember the last time I’ve seen it spawn). The map is a little strong at first, but if the killer prolongs the match, survivors are screwed after they burn up most of the resources. The best thing it has going for the survivors right now, is that it has the best killer shack to minimize mind games, and there are little to no filler pallets. It does suck to be Trapper (my main) on this map, though.

    As for my 2025 Wishlist:

    • Chucky reverted back to launch Chucky
    • Penalties removed from perks like Calm Spirit, Botany Knowledge, and Iron Will (seems unnecessary and weird)
    • Scourge Hooks be every Hook
    • Remove penalty not to be able to pick up placed traps with Trapper Sack add-on
    • Add one more trap to Trapper’s Basekit and allow him to carry 3 total
    • Houndmaster’s other dogs added
    • Bring back Flashlights burning Wraith, Nurse, & Hag Traps (was fun)
    • Original chase music for those killers who do not have
    • Rework/Buff Territorial Imperative (worst perk in the game)
    • Rework Red Herring (terrible survivor perk)
    • Get rid of useless survivor add-ons for maps and keys that show the exit gates or teammate auras (wedding ring add-on is ok). They clog the blood web and are never used
    • Bring back level 70 charms that glow, flash, or light up (banners and custom pics are not it, for the final reward of paying $10)
    • Add Demogorgon and Alien to 2v8 if their IP’s will allow it. It would be a blast to play this combo

People do talk about it. There have even been videos made about this very subject. The big problem though is that if you start to even suggest nerfing SWF you get loads of people who will come out and just jump on you and make you out to be this horrible, evil villain. They will make non arguments like "So I have to be nerfed because I want to play with my friends" when literally the exact same argument can be made for everyone else. That flip argument being "So we have to suffer with impossible to balance game design and constant over buffing and over nerfing of perks because you want SWFs to remain unnerfed.

You are completly correect in saying that SWF is a real issue for the game, and it is somthing that really does need a lot more discussion. SWF can either be on a reasonable power level which is most SWFs if we are being honest (and I prefer to be honest), but then you also have some groups that exist on the extreme end of skill or even higher end of skill which may comprise lets say 10-20% of SWFs (thats just a guess, dont get mad), where they are able to stack all the same perks, and completly break the game, walking away with 90% or better win rates. Top SWFs are just about impossible for killer to win against and that is a real problem.

You can not balance a game where you have solo Q at an average skill leveel of lets say 20/100 and then high end SWF being 100/100. Its too big of a gap. The difference between the two is so vast that high end SWFs are essentially playing an entirely different game.

So yes, I absolutly agree with you and I think this is a super important and worthwhile discussion to have.

The big question is how do we come up with a solution to this that is both as clean as possible and also doesn't totally destroy the game for people playing in SWFs? It is a super difficult thing to come up with solutions for. Anything you do is going to lead to the SWF people being mad and complaining about being punished for playing with their friends (even if that argument is highly manipulative, and extremely flimsy, they are trying to play on the emotions of folks genuinly looking to improve the game balance for both sides).

Just like any other situation, you work towards finding a solution by first identifying what the real problems are, and then you can begin to brainstorm.

Well said. There is a reason most games do not show you who is playing in a party of friends; it’s because the opposition would not want to go against them. If the option is available, a lot of players would choose to back out of the game before it starts- or quit mid-match when it’s obvious you’re getting stomped due to callouts.

Any nerf to Survivor or Buff to killer, merely inconveniences SWF’s in DBD’s case. So for killers, going against SWF’s barely moves the needle- while playing against solos is easy mode, which easily gets boring (for me at least). For solo que survivors, the game gets more and more difficult with every change. Perks that would help the solo Que experience get nerfed (sometimes immediately after PTB’s) because of fear they will get abused or would be too powerful with other coordinated perks in a SWF (looking at you, Reaasurance). No amount of nerfed survivor perks or buffed killer mechanics can hold a candle to a well oiled SWF. Comms trumps all. I do not understand why the minority of the player base is being catered to. SWF’s make this game miserable for Killers and solo que survivors.

My suggestion? Overhaul the “Kill with Friends” game mode and make it fully customizable in every option imaginable. Want old DS & Dead Hard back? Boom- done. Unbreakable basekit? Done. Mechanics that make camping and tunneling useless? You got it. Regulate the SWF’s to this game mode; let them find a 5th friend or create a post to get someone to play killer. Keep the main mode for Killers and Solo Survivors, then balance the game around those two demographics- which are the majority of the player base.

“BRINGING SOLO QUE CLOSER IN LINE TO SWF’S” is NOT the answer. Again, friends with comms trumps EVERYTHING. There is no amount of on screen UI information that will get solo’s close to SWF’s. Simply stating who is going to stay on gens, who is going for the save, what pallet to get downed on, what stealth killer is nearby waiting for the unhook, etc. etc. CAN NOT BE COMMUNICATED IN REAL TIME THROUGH A UI.

And as far as my favorite excuse goes: “SO I HAVE TO BE PUNISHED TO PLAY WITH MY FRIENDS??” Here’s my rebuttal: so game balancing, solo’s, and killers ALL have to suffer because SWF’s have real time, on the fly, verbal communication? This is why I recommend making KWF fully customizable and overhauled.

You know what’s funny (or sad depending on how you look at it)? I bet if all SWF’s were limited to Kill with Friends, NOT one of them would want to play as the killer. Not even if they were to take turns. Hell, most would probably not play at all and quit the game. You know why? Because they know when it’s their turn to play killer they are going to get stomped and/or be stressed the hell out. Either way, they won’t be having much fun at that point. That’s pretty telling and says it all…

  • It’s coming. Hang in there for just a bit.

  • The developer’s stats show kill rates are increasing and they have gone on record that they would like to see it even higher. Isn’t the kill rate currently something like above 60%?

If any que times are going up, it will be killers’. There is a reason why the incentive to play survivor is more frequent than to play killer.

  • I’m not a fan of it either. Someone please remind me as to why was it implemented.

  • What bothers me about the slugging epidemic are the players that still do it even though it’s obvious that they are so skilled at the game, they don’t need too. Like c’mon dude- do you really need to slug with Nurse who has a full Aura build? Or worse, a Nurse and Blight who can land every. single. Hit? It’s unecessary and overkill. Save the B.S for the 4 man SWF’s who sent you to Eyrie’s or Badham.

  • “…but does the game really need to be changed to accomadate a willingness to not learn or practice?”

Yes, because the game is open to all skill levels- including the skill set of children and teens who do not have enough gaming experience and time to get better. This is why MMR needs to go and escapes and kills as ranking up needs to go.

There is a forgotten demographic of the DBD player base who suffers the most- especially against complex killers: the intermediate solo que player. Not only does this player get 3 beginner types who are scared or dont understand not to heal against legion and plague, but he gets to face them against P100 killers because of you know, hockey. He can do everything right, PIP twice, do 3 gens solo, 5 saves, etc. etc. and all he gets for his troubles is a lower MMR to increase his chances of playing with 3 more identical beginner types from the previous game. That’s how you enter and stay in MMR hell.

As for me personally, I enjoy complex killers. They add a challenge and do not feel cheap to play against, as opposed to a stealth killer who was buffed with speed that has nothing to do with being scary, horror, or his lore, but ok. What sucks about complex killers are inexperienced or less skilled players not understanding or catching on to the secondary killer objective. Now the way “the game really needs to be changed” is by going back to the colored ranking system and removing SBMM altogether. That way players who are experienced and/or have skill, did everything in the match correctly (gens, altruistic, secondary objectives, etc.), and still died- can take solace in knowing they are still ranking up because the game recognized them as a skilled player. Rinse and repeat until that same player finds himself in more skilled company as himself, making the game less frustrating and more fun. Losing while you and 3 randoms of the same skill level gave it your all still can be a lot of fun, as opposed to losing to a 2018 day 1 killer with 3 pre-adolescents as teammates who recently were playing Fortnite & Roblox.

  • He needs to be reverted back to launch Chucky. He was fine then.

  • Im confused as to why if a certain hockey supporter is gone (if i get banned for this I swear yall can take the $2500+ I spent on this game and stick it in yall goal post), why hasn’t MMR been removed?

  • What region of the world are you in and what platform do you play on?

  • i like your username. 100PercentCreative.

    • Distortion was never Meta
    • 3 tokens were useless against stealth killers like Wraith & Myers with All-seeing blood and scratched mirror because of the constant wall hacking and no token to refill without a consistent terror radius
    • 3 tokens were useless against an aura build consisting of Lethal Pursuer, Barbecue, Darkness Revealed, Alien Instinct, Bitter Murmur, Floods of Rage and all the killer aura reading add-ons
    • 3 tokens in general were not that great unless a survivor was actively staying in the killer’s terror radius to refill

Aura perks for BOTH killer and survivor need to be removed. It feels cheap to play against. We should not get outplayed because our opponents saw us through a wall. That’s lame asf. Dark Sense, Object, Fogwise, Key-add on, Alert, and all the ones I mentioned above and did not list here, remove em all. The game can still evolve without having to remove the skill value and hand each side a gimme.

Like I said in the other Aura thread- what’s the number one hack (yes even over godmode) when players cheat in a multiplayer game? Wallhacks. Why? Because it gives the best advantage over your opponent allowing you to see them and they can’t see you. Is that fair? No. Cheap as hell. Get rid of em for the health of the game.

  • I don’t like aura reading on both sides. Aura reading perks need to be removed entirely. They are not healthy for the game. As a killer, struggling to catch a survivor with a mind game because of wiretap or Object feels lame. Dark sense allows survivors to get a jump on shift W, Alert pings you all over the damn map letting survivors know it’s safe to stay on gens, and even lame ass Fogwise will occasionally snitch on you letting survivors stay comfortable on a gen. Saboteur shouldn’t allow survivors see hooks, or at the very least not see scourge hooks. No perk should show the aura of totems. Go look for them yourself. Only stealth killers benefit from not having to deal with the aura reading B.S.

As a survivor, hiding near a gen only for the killer to kick a gen and give the killer wall hacks with Alien Instinct feels cheap as hell. Killer add-ons like all-seeing blood on Wraith and even scratched mirror on my boi Mikey are hella cheap. Dont even get me started on Lethal Pursuer. That perk launched at a time when the first solo player to get downed would DC like 35% of the time, and someone saw fit to introduce a perk that creates more of that scenario. LP is a serious problem and I’m surprised more ppl dont complain about it. I still see ppl ragequitting because they got downed within 1 minute due to LP. Lethal pursuer does not bother SWF’s at all- it only hurts solos.

I understand the game has evolved and we need to make adjustments, but with all these aura reading perks in the game- we might as well have everyone see everyone at all times. There is a reason why when people cheat in multi-player videogames, the number 1 defacto cheat is wall hacks. It does not feel fair and takes no skill.

You cannot, in good faith, argue that a perk which disproportionately punishes solos more than SWF & actively encourages a playstyle which bypasses a large majority of the game's intended mechanics is not deserving of a rework for the overall health of the game.

You know what’s sad? Most mechanics in this punishes solos more than SWF. That’s why this game can not be balanced properly. What’s a mere inconvenience to a 4 man SWF, can be devastating to solos. Add the amount of ragequitting/go next mentality in solo queue, and you have yourself one big hot mess.

  • Like Chucky, she was fine at launch. Both should’ve never been touched.

  • bamboozle and Brutal Strength are definitely not useless. I see them very frequently and personally use Brutal Strength in a couple of my builds. Both are great on Myers.

  • Why does everything have to be literal with some people?

It’s attempting to be patched and will be in the near future. Geez.

  • I say the big three in order is Singularity, Unknown, and Xeno for obvious reasons. Dredge as honorable 4th.

Modern medicine will take care of Plague.

A gun will take care of Huntress. Dead Tier.

Ghostface is already here IRL stabbing and killing innocent victims on the train in NYC, in the form of mentally disturbed homeless people, so the NYPD can take care of him. You gave him too much credit; Arrested Tier beneath those who are Dead.

If we are staying true to lore, Dracula would be formidable at first but eventually taken out with a stake to his heart when he sleeps during the day.

Modern medicine and coffee will slow down Freddy’s kills, until a crack team can coordinate pulling his ass out of the dream world into the real world and putting a bullet in the back of his skull.

Deathslinger wouldn’t stand a chance against modern weapons.

The public would’ve beat Skull Merchant’s ass in December of 2024 for those drone scares.

CIA, FBI, the Kremlin, and MI6 all would’ve stopped Wesker before he even started phase one of releasing uroboros

Who the hell is watching VHS tapes in 2025?? Sadako is in FOH Tier below the Arrested Tier. She’s not doing ######### but sitting in a well.

  • I believe players who behave like this are legit juveniles and they do not frequent these forums.

  • I had a game like that a couple of years ago, and I found it so strange that my 3 teammates right off the rip worked with the killer to tunnel and get me out the game. It was a Meyers as well and my "team" behaved in the same manner- attempted to body block every window and pallet when he was on my ass. If I somehow managed to lose him, they brought him right over to where I was. Eventually I had enough of the B.S and DC'ed through the menu. When I spectated the match, two survivors were teabagging the dead body I left behind while Meyers was nodding up and down. That was very weird- I did not get a chance to do anything to piss my team off. Everyone was on the same page as soon as the match started.

That was such a weird encounter for me to remember that match after playing hundreds of hours and life in general, two years later. It kind of creeped me out as well; it felt like some intricate setup.

  • Possible Smurf maybe? And or great with check spotting.

Do you remember what perks the teammates were running? Any Wiretaps or that new Invocation perk that lets them see your aura for disturbing crows?

If you suspect someone of cheating like that again, drop chase and punish the other 3 with every dirty tactic at your disposal.

  • I literally learned how to do this two weeks ago and now it’s patched??

    =/

  • As killer I do not hate any survivors, but I find Aces tend to be annoying- whether intentional or not.

As survivor- Kates, Sables, & Michaelas act the most entitled and are prone to ragequit more than anyone else. Any of the OG Survivors in default clothing, Bills and Megs with any mask on are the most noobish. I despise them all.

  • I used to be the same way bro, not wanting to give survivors the satisfaction. Just go over there and force them out. You become numb to the teabags at some point. If you like BP, at least you get a little extra by giving them a whack on the butt before they leave.

  • @Mooks said:

been asking this for some time but never got a clear response. Though apparently the devs confirmed this is an intentional feature and supposed to be a risk of letting go of a gen.

I run Corrective Action to at least avoid this specific ‚Feature‘ now at least for 3/4 survs in the match

I never realized they addressed this in a Q&A, let alone confirmed it was intentional. I always felt like it was intentional, and never liked this. It feels cheap.

  • What happened to the idea of making Unbreakable basekit? Now seems like the best time to revisit that.

  • Killers have always slugged, camped, and tunneled- even at 5 gens. There were too many players DC’ing for various reasons, including the ones you mentioned. Because of that, the DC penalty was introduced. Do not have the impression that slugging and tunneling is something that blew up this year. Those two tactics as unfun as they are for survivors, have been popular strategies since at least 2018- maybe even before.

The bots are not very good substitutes for you as a human playing. They are a mere distraction for the killer at best.

Trust me, you do not want DC penalties removed. If they are, when YOU have your fun matches of looping the killer and getting things done, there will be someone else who is going to be having a miserable time. And when they ragequit on you and your team in a match that was very much winnable, your fun will go out the window when that bot doesn’t measure up and you die at 1 or 0 gens left. Get a few games like that in one day or over the course of the week, and you’ll be just as annoyed and frustrated as you are now.

A better solution is to properly balance the game so killers do not feel like they need to resort to those strategies. Time to complete/defend gens needs to be looked at, flash bangs being unavoidable if timed correctly needs to be addressed, and creating perks like background player are not healthy for the game. Creating a perk that enhances something that already makes playing killer annoying, is baffling.

  • @Rudjohns said:

Instead of penalty for being injured, it's a penalty for being healthy?
With a quick change in the values, maybe a flat out 5% for each survivor
    It would look like this

    • Each healthy Survivor afflicts Survivors with a stack-able 5 % Action Speed penalty to Repairing, Sabotaging, and Cleansing, up to a maximum of 20 %.

It promotes survivors staying injured and becoming an easier prey
It also helps the problem of the first gen popping way too fast at the beginning of the match
It addresses a lot of issues with Legion and Plague

The counter to both Plague and Legion is to play injured, which the majority of the player base fails to understand. So this perk idea (which I like) may have an adverse affect and hurt them- especially with the really good Legion and Plague mains who can consistently & quickly injure/infect survivors. They would get little value from it. In order to make it worth it, the handicap for being healthy would have to be a higher percentage so as to affect the early game like Corrupt Intervention.

Instead of reversing Thano, how’s about we create a new perk with your description that way it can be paired with Thano. Values would need to be adjusted of course so the combo wouldn’t be crippling to get gens done.

  • Yes, it’s taking me 5 mins as well. It’s probably because people are on vacation for the holidays so the player base shrunk. Either that or Marvel Rivals lol.

  • There will be a day when you can play an online game anywhere in the world vs. anyone in the world, and everyone will have a perfect connection. Fingers crossed that day comes in the near future so we can all enjoy it.

  • It should be two protection hits to activate and the aura reveal removed.

I don’t understand nerfing a perk to the point where the community deems it useless. The weaker perks need to be buffed to be in line with the strongest ones. That’s the best way to shake up the meta- give players options. And this goes for both survivor and killer. Territorial Imperative (worst perk in the game) should not be in the state it’s in, heading into 2025.

  • Keep in mind that both killer and survivor are both averaging 100% BP for Bone Chill, which may indicate not too many players are playing, and that’s why you’re facing the same players back to back or every other game or so. This happened to me last night and this morning. Players are most likely away on holiday/vacation, so the pool is smaller. I also noticed the wait time to find a match takes a little longer than usual. I’m on NA servers.

  • Yes, it was a disaster. Perks were nerfed to the point that they were no longer being used. That’s not good. It would’ve been healthier for the game to buff unpopular perks to the level of Meta perks. That would’ve created variety. Take Territorial Imperative for example, it’s probably the least used perk in the game let alone on killer. Instead of nerfing say a gen defense perk, buff TI to a level where Killers will want to play with it and get value from it. What bothered me most were changes to some of my favorite perks that weren’t even Meta, nor did players complain about (Dark Sense was one of them).

  • No, matchmaking counters my fun.

Yet I still continue to play and chase the dragon, like some substance abuse feen. Smh.

  • Yea getting slugged so the killer can get a 4K is lame.

I throw #3 on the hook and run the 50/50 for hatch with the last survivor. 3K is a win so 1 more would be nice but it’s not life or death.

After so many hours in DBD, I imagine a lot of us do not have the patience for this nonsense.

  • None. This isn’t a good fit. If they make it in, then DBD will give off Fortnite & Smash Brothers vibes for future DLC.

  • Coldwind, MacMillan, Swamp, & Nostramos

  • Map offerings need to be addressed; it’s long overdue.

Either make the offering be for the map you do not want to play on, or remove the system altogether.

Doesn't help with the new player experience when this happens, and that's already rough for this game. Yet another argument against having the current lobbies at all.

All the doing and shopping around does more harm than good, no matter the reasons to do it.

Exactly why Asymetrical games should not show who your opponent is or your teammates on the lobby screen.

  • Hillbilly. Last go around it was Huntress. Wraith is second best last time and this time.

  • @Shroompy said:

No mention of This Is Not Happening

OP also forgot to mention Red Herring; now the post is infinitely incorrect.

  • I saw medics the most this time around, which surprised me. Last time it felt like they were the least favorite or had the second least favorite pick rate.

  • Killers: Pennywise, M3gan, Robert Englund Freddy, The Terminator with variations as skins (Terminatrix, T-1000, etc.)

Survivors: Clementine, Sarah Connor, Nancy Thompson

  • @BasementDweller said:

I might catch some flak from this, but there needs to be a ping limit (either in match or lobby) or let players queue for pings closer to their own.

I’m with you on this; EVERY game that has a vs. should have a ping limit.

  • Aura reading the opponent on both sides is unhealthy, but to answer the question- I’m against it being implemented into the core game. Survivors should have to equip a perk (buffed Distortion) to know if their aura is being read. The best part of aura reading perks on killer is to get the drop on survivors.

  • The game industry is going in the opposite direction when it comes to your request. For example, Overwatch & Texas Chainsaw both allowed everyone in the lobby to see who was teamed up, and both games removed that information from the lobbies.

It’s crazy to me that game devs know stacks have an advantage, players will dodge lobbies with them, yet instead of doing something about it- they think removing the information is the healthiest option for the game. It’s not.

xenomorph loses crawler mode only if it gets fully burnt out of it. by design, this is not meant to happen unless survivors REALLY go out of their way to set up multiple turrets at once or place them in a really cheeky spot and catch xenomorph off guard.

losing crawler mode is meant to be a punishment and motivation to prioritise breaking turrets and avoid them.

    Ahhh…thanks.
