I’ll pay attention next time I play.

Yea matchmaking and this b.s mmr is frustrating as hell. I keep saying longer ques for fairer matches are better. For years this game managed to thrive with 15 min ques, but at least teammates and the opposition were consistently on the same skill level. It made for a much better experience than getting thrown into a trial instantly, with 3 potatoes to vs. a gawd tier killer with purple & IRI add ons and strong builds. What the actual hell???
-
So wait, is this why survivors keep sending me there every other game?? Wow. Time to start using green hands
-
This happened on a game I played 4 hours ago. I was the Meyers and the David who was unhooked earlier started zooming in chase. It happened every single time LOS was broken at the pallet, so I thought he was cheating. But then I started wondering if it was the servers, because it kind of looked like he was a video codec buffering and trying to catch up. Really weird. Never happened again after that.

Lol you called it. Actually, I think we all did in our heads before clicking on the title…

As a solo main, I can tell you players who want it nerfed have a valid argument. The only reason why I personally haven’t jumped on that train yet, is because it hasn’t caught on to the masses. So the few times I run into it, I just roll my eyes and tolerate trying to fix the same gen for the 10th time in 15 mins (an exaggeration but you get my point).
It’s surprisingly not at the popularity level of what Ruin used to be, pre-meta shift. But when it does (and it will), it’s going to be a serious problem. It by itself or thrown in some random build is not the challenge- it’s when its paired with other great slowdown perks like COB, PR, and Overcharge- is what makes it Oppresive to Solo Que players. They can not do anything in the time the incapacitated shackles are on. Can’t even do bones let alone scratch their noses if they have an itch. The cooldown is very short and is soul snatching on really good killers who can end chases fairly quickly. And MMR is constantly pairing lesser skilled players against killers with much more experience, further adding angina to the solo que play. SWF’s can coordinate and take hits for each other to delay an Eruption play. That delay could be the difference between a gen getting done or constantly being regressed for what feels like an eternity. I’ve had 93% gens get dropped down to 0, be brought back up to 50%, only to get dropped back to 0 again. If only the player who went down at 93% had a way to warn everyone he was about to go down and to let go off the gens or take a hit for him. SWF’s can do that though.
-
For me it’s not as enjoyable as 2018/2019. The Meta shift made a lot of unpopular yet decent perks like Pharmacy & Dark Sense very bad. I had two entire builds created around those perks in mind, and now the builds are bad as well or not as good, respectively. MMR is terrible and keeps giving me inexperienced/bad teammates to go against much more experienced and very good killers. What the actual hell??
-
Oof. Dear gawd I hope I have that one completed already…
-
I play mostly survivor, and only killer when BP is 100% for that role or I need to get dailies/challenges done. I don’t have that much fun playing killer- even when I’m winning. I think it’s because subconsciously I know there is a lobby with a 4 man SWF bully squad waiting for me to finish my current match, and que up with them after the previous 6 killers were smart enough to dodge. No matter how many wins previously, those matches FEELS BAD. Talk about humble pie…

Oppression could do with a small buff, It's effect really isn't worth an 80 second cooldown when a perk like Eruption has a measly 30 second cooldown
Beast of Prey and Predator are arguably worse than having no perks at all, their effects are laughably bad
Crowd Control is a horrible perk, idk how to fix it
Better than New is not worth a perk slot
Add Territorial Imperative to that list.

It has been a thing for as long as I can remember. The survivor hitbox can "slide" when they cancel an unhook attempt, meaning a killer can push the survivor out of the unhook zone and put their hitbox in between the survivor and the hook. Then it's just a matter of blocking the survivor from re-entering the unhook area. An experienced killer will usually be able to deny a solo unhook if they want, either via hitbox collision or grab timing.
Survivors need to make sure they start unhooks from the front of the hook if they're trying a contested solo unhook. Otherwise the killer will push you out if they know what they're doing. Your hitbox can get pushed any time you cancel the grab animation.
Good to know. Thanks for the info.

Uh-oh- another Eruption thread. I’m seeing a trend. I’m calling it- it’s going to get even more popular to the point where it’s old Ruin/Barbecue popular. Then it’ll get nerfed in the second half of 2023 after all the complaints.

biggish, good main building, and has a lot pretty decent pallets that chain into each other.
Same as Garden of Joy.
Killers who have strong gen defenses and can slow down the game do much better on these maps. Once all the pallet resources are used up, it’s a nightmare for most survivors if they can’t make it to shack or the main building. I think that could possibly be by design.

Wrong.
The opened hand is based on his current movement speed and not the Add-on he is using. Judith's Tombstone makes him slower in Tier 3 (104.5 %) that's why his hand is opened, same as in Tier 1 (105 %).
If he has Pwyf with 3 Tokens, his hand will be closed. If he has Tombstone Piece, his hand will be closed because he moves at normal 115 %.
Nerd.

The period starting with the introduction of Oni’s DLC, up until the day before MMR was implemented.
I’m not saying there weren’t good times before or after, I’m just adhering to the assignment and listing this period as the best (IMO).
-
If there was no NOED, they would have most likely risked coming for you. Even with the recent change, I’m telling my team to leave as well. Not worth risking more players. Now if you stood out for running the killer for 3 gens and then got downed to NOED, I’d be more inclined to search for that totem. I’d tell my team to be super careful while I’d be the one to stick my neck out the most and search aggressively for the Hex.
-
I go to the farthest corner from the nearest exit, face the wall, and go on my phone. Whenever I spectate a teammate doing this dumb #########, I always say to myself: “I can’t believe people still do this in 2022.” 😑

I play solo and I have learned lowering my MMR on purpose by doing all the things and then getting hooked after a gate is opened just pairs me with baby Dwights. It's not a good time lol

Yea I hate going against Eruption. But as much as I hate that perk in solo que, I still feel like if we lose- it was more-so because of my teammates for either being inexperienced, making bad plays, ragequitting, or lack of effort. I need more games going against it when I consistently have competent teammates, to truly say if it’s a bit much. But because matchmaking is trash, I may never be able to make that determination.
-
Garden of Joy isn’t that bad if you have a gen defense build, because once those pallet resources are depleted….
Haddonfield leans more toward. Try to strat your 3 gen early on and dont follow anyone going to the other side once it’s in play. Use offerings so you can get better and more familiar with it- a lot of survivors are inexperienced on it and it’s map priority setting must be set to low, cause we rarely get it.
As far as Mt. Ormond is concerned, yea you’re screwed. Just remember Wrecker’s Yard & Azarov’s Resting place exists.
-
It’s not fun and they’re a dying breed because the community made it boring, by doing gens and players on hooks being a martyr. That sounds like some clown who hasn’t played in at least a year coming back to DBD with his 2019 Boooba build. When you see the few roaming around, just keep doing gens, martyr for the cause if you’re the one hooked, and those who can- G T F O when the gates are powered.
-
I still say BHVR needs to make a sequel because this game’s mechanics are antiquated. Or at the very least reward the killer/give more incentives to chase new survivors. There should be more & better perks like Make Your Choice.
Perk Idea: Stay with Me - if all survivors are alive and the killer gained 8 hook states (tokens), the perk activates. The killer can now see everyone’s Auras for 3 mins. If the exit gates are powered, they get an additional 10 seconds for opening, for every survivor who is alive. Survivors do not get any notification if Stay with Me is in play, unless they’re opening exit gate or using Distortion.

There are 5 maps each for Macmillan, Autohaven, Coldwind and Badham, and only 1 or in some cases 2, for every other realm. Those first four realm account for 50% of all maps. Individual map weighting will always be necessary.
I don’t think the realms have anything to do with map priority- it seems to be the maps themselves. Prior to the Halloween update, Wrecker’s Yard was spammed for the entire Spring/Summer 2022 seasons, and some of fall. Since there are 5 maps in Autohaven, we shouldn’t have seen Wrecker’s Yard so much. I gave the example of getting it once 6 times in two hours. That’s ridiculous. Not once did I get Gas Haven or Azarov’s Resting Place in those two hours. All 6 were Wrecker’s. Smh.
-
Yes, they need to go. However, map priority settings need to be set at FIFTY PERCENT for all maps. One particular map should not have priority over the others, with the exception of introducing DLC that contains a new one. They need to stop doing those community twitter polls of which maps “we” want to play on the most. Having skewed percentages for map priority kills the variety & makes it frustrating when constantly losing on a map you hate, after it was spammed for the 3rd time in a row. This is exactly when I start using map offerings, after this ######### game sent me to bullshit Wrecker’s Yard for the 6th time in two hours.
-
Play how you want your killer to play when you’re survivor. And if you rarely play survivor, then turn off end game chat.
-
I never understood why ppl play like that. Too scared to do anything. Why even play? When I was new, I didn’t do that. I participated. My biggest offense was hiding to avoid barbecue, not realizing that actually hurt the team because aggro was not distributed evenly.
-
Those should be your favorite type of players- ones who understand the rules of the game and are 100% committed. If you think about it, there probably hasn’t been anyone who successfully taken bubba’s chest and lived to tell the tale. So it’s “challenge accepted.”
-
I don’t think EOC is killer sided. I’m a survivor main and I use EOC offerings often when the game spams too many killer sided maps in a row. I don’t think it’s survivor sided either, but it definitely leans more in favor of the survivors.
-
Yea I like this. 👍
-
I didn’t like it. The one before this was not funny either. That was the worst episode IMO. I don’t know how the quality dropped off so much.
-
I truly believe players who unintentionally throw games by not playing smart (being overly altruistic) do not frequent these forums. They just don’t know any better.
I remember when I would message a few of them, politely explaining why it’s better to take the killer on chase and let someone else go for the save- then I would get hit with a sarcastic “you’re welcome” or some other smart ass reply. I’m “welcome?” Welcome to what?? Only thing I was welcomed to was a good ole farm in front of the killer- that’s who they should have said it to.
-
Like every other imbalanced thing in this game- it’ll be a minor annoyance/setback for 3/4 man SWF’s, yet too oppressive for your average solo que session since MMR is wider than Kim K’s snatch.

I didn't realize some characters were meta. Shows what I know.
Not in this game. I meant other games like FPS (Overwatch) or fighting games (Mortal Kombat).

One of the best solution to unhook a survivor who was camped is... Going with an another player, and try to rescue the hooked survivor
It's hard, that was something that demand skill, you can go with a flashlight, flashbang, try to attract the killer near a loop tiles or a pallet, just enough for the second to save your teammates
Like all thing in the survivor side... You have to gain some technic, some skill to do that
This. I’m the one who usually tries to body block for the unhooker so he/she doesn’t have to trade. It’s such a good feeling taking a protection hit for them, then they loop the killer for a full gen or more.
-
I rarely used both before the nerfs, and I use them even less now. I tend to naturally flock away from anything that is Meta- especially if a character themself is a meta character. I actually hate those chars because players only pick them for an advantage- especially switching to said chars when they’re losing. Same goes for perks. Funny enough, the rare times I played killer before the nerfs, those perks never really bothered me. I rarely tunneled so DH was ineffective against me, and I would always bait out DH. I actually have a harder time baiting out this new DH because so few ppl use it now, I keep forgetting to wait it out.
-
I play them all but Yun-Jin is who I play the least. He just seems out of place and the type to always die first if DBD was a horror move.
-
I’m confused- killers just got a major buff with 6.1 and that was not the original plan. The devs said they were going to bring survivors closer to SWF’s then buff killers. So far survivors have not been brought up to SWF’s but you’re suggesting killers get buffed again? Then wouldn’t that make the survivor player count go down by 50%? Just take the BP bonus incentive for example- it stays at 100% for survivor, steadily- for the past 3 weeks.
People complain about SWF’s, ADMIT if given the option to be made aware of SWF’s they would lobby dodge, but when you suggest removing SWF’s they’re against it. What?? 🤯
-
I honestly believe the players who need to hear/read this are not on these forums. I have a theory that a LOT of little kids play this game.
-
Good lord why haven’t i quit this game yet….🤦♂️

Think you're reading too much into it.
Most people either give or receive a GG as a sign of sportsmanship and haven't started to psychoanalyze the people who say it.
I gave my personal experience from observation. Why do players we encounter consecutively say “Gg” only when they win, but not when they lose? Why do you have so many players in general say it when they win, but so few in general say it when they lose? What does that tell us? It’s b.s. I don’t find that genuine. Then you have the trolls who attached it to “ggez,” further diluting what was supposed to be a display of sportsmanship. If “gg” is truly sportsmanlike, then everyone would be saying it regardless of winning or losing, but thats not the case. There’s a large disparity between the two.
Even if this is considered trivial, I’m still going to call bullshit on it. And I already stated for the record that there are people who really are genuine about it- they just appear to be in the minority. Now if someone reads this and is one of the person’s I mentioned above who mostly say it when they win and barely (if any) when they lose, and get offended- I don’t know what to tell you…
-
You can add Ruin to this list as well. I must be one of the few who actually still checks for it in the beginning of a match, despite not seeing it for a month (not an exaggeration).
I say this because my Ruin totem stays up for a very long time, these days. I imagine it causes dilemma’s/confusion because now they’re faced with either looking for it once they realize it’s in play, or return to the gen they got 50% done when I chased them off. I think they usually choose the latter, then I either get value from surge, returning and chasing them off that same gen again, or both- surge/hook/chase off that gen. All this time, Ruin stays up.
I personally haven’t seen too many NOEDS, but I STAY ready for it every single match like I do Ruin. All those years of expecting both leaves me with routines that I’m just plain accustomed to.
-
I play both but it’s lopsided. I mostly play survivor. If I had to put it in percentages, I would say it is 90% survivor and 10% killer.
-
No, as long as you left as soon as you grabbed the torched like you said you did- then it’s not. Maybe her hook was a little far from the exit gate you opened? So to him it felt like you were waiting for a few. Plus he probably didn’t believe you. Too many survivors will actually wait at the exit gate just to rub it in, and it really is obnoxious for some of us killers who are obviously not coming over there but are ready to move on to the next game. These survivors do it on purpose because they don’t get to teabag so they wait till the very last second. It’s 2022 and it amazes me that people still do this. 🙄

No and no. Especially not now since Hag is so rare to face of against. Flashlights and Urban Evasion get great value if you happen to face hag when equipped with them. Bonus points if you happen to have both.
-
It’s rare for me to get a “gg” from the opposition when they lose- in this game or any other game for that matter. Get a ton of it when the opposition wins, however. That’s why when ppl say “gg,” I don’t take it as genuine. It’s a farce. I think a lot of people (not all) say it to rub it in that they won, or pretend they are sportsmanlike. Take Overwatch 1 for example- I could play against the same person 3 times in a row, and the first two times they win, they type “gg” in the chat. Even if they obviously stomped my team. Que up to go against that same person a third time and they lose? They leave as soon as the defeat screen shows up on their end (Victory on my team’s end) without so much as a peep. Or the one’s who do stay don’t have anything to say. That’s when I type “what, no ‘gg’ this time Toxicboi69 when you lose??”
I’ve seen/had this scenario play out too many times, giving confirmation to my theory that “gg” is being fake and it’s just plain better not to say anything at all when you win, if you truly want to be sportsmanlike. Now don’t get me wrong, I recognize there are legit players who mean it when they type it, but they’re unfortunately in the minority IMO. The only true “gg” are from losing players who are not being facetious/salty because of how the opposition played. Survivors who type “baby killer/tunnel/camp welp gg” obviously are not being sportsmanlike. A simple “ggwp” from a survivor to a killer who turned a losing game around at the end with smart play/tactics however, is a sign of respect and sportsmanship.
