I mean, my main complaint with 6.1 was that everyone started mass DCing and killing themselves on hook...

This. Even though a lot of us weren’t fans to most of the changes (personally I could care less about DH & DS cause I rarely used them as survivor & tried my best to play around them whenever I played killer), we’re resilient and could adapt. It’s the entitled ######### who couldn’t/can’t adapt to 6.1, in combination of the ######### MMR having such a wide range (it seems) that ruined the game.

I'm honestly convinced that a bunch of people left the game when the huge meta shakeup happened, because it seems like only potatoes are left in solo queue when I play Survivor. Everyone always seems super new, it's like the longtime players just left the game.

Or maybe it's because my MMR is that low. Probably because you need to escape through the exit gate to gain MMR and I can never survive endgame situations... or even make it to endgame because of my teammates.

You may be on to something and that’s some scary, ######### bro. If that’s the case, shame on me for sticking around with all these damn ragequitters.

  • I forgot to mention the End Zone Hatch Close with Cloaked Wraith is in the Survivors Face 🤦‍♂️

  • I seriously can’t find another game captivating enough to pull me away from DBD, and that’s a shame. I’ve about had it with this terrible matchmaking. I can tolerate and endure everything else without wanting to quit for good, but some of these players like the ones you described above have me playing less and less.

  • She was probably trying to do that annoying hatch challenge. I just got it this morning after DAYS of no luck. But she’s still a jerk for not participating. Even the times I brought keys and hatch offerings I still played normally so as not to screw my team over. My challenge was secondary.

  • I ask this question every time matchmaking gives me ragequitting teammates 3 or 4 games in a row.

I think the goal is to make pallet hitboxes around the same size as Huntress hatchets.

Say around the dimensions of a Cooper Mini.

I remember when if you burned a Jigsaw Piece as survivor people would question your sanity.

Lol I question which side they’re on when they burn Lery’s or Dead Dog Saloon.

I remember when the first person dead/escaped in a SWF could rat out the killer's build to the rest of their team.

Lol I remember this! This was a good counter to NOED. Probably the craziest oversight ever.

I said in a few posts already that it won't even let you submit video evidence of the cheater, it just won't load. I don't even bother recording my games anymore. I wish the devs would comment on this and give an explanation already or a solution.

I wish this had replay with a link we could easily reference and submit with a few clicks/button presses.

So there I am. I'm playing a game of dead by daylight as the killer. The survivor team is doing ok but due to some mistakes on their part I'm able to 4k the team with 1 gen left.

I'm sitting here thinking "Man that was a great game. fair matchmaking, survivors weren't playing sweaty and it was an all around fun game" So i hit them with the GG well played <3 in the post game.

    What do i get back.

    "What a trash killer"

    "Baby killer omg"

"Nice camping" (usually when I haven't camped or tunneled)

Why is it whenever you have a good game as killer that the survivors come back with insults like "your trash" or "baby killer" despite you 4king.

I get that they are mad they lost but come on. how hard is it to either say GG then go next or not say anything and go next.

And its not just survivors that do this. On the rare occasion I play survivor i have seen countless killers come back with the ole "EZ 4k" or "get rekt"

Like this is a video game. It aint the most balanced or fair video game granted but at the end of the day no matter how the game went it is just a game.

Now sure. if a survivor or killer purposly went out of there way to make your game literal hell then give them some grief post game but 99% of the time its a normal game so if you lose accept it and move on.

    @burt0r said:

My favorite one was a game with less than 5 hooks for me and over in less than 10 minutes and they give me GG.

I answer "not for me" and that kick lose an avalanche of toxicity. "Then go FCK off", "trash killer" and so on, the full package (without suicide or other extreme stuff).

And this is why I personally don’t tell the opposition GG when they lose. I’ll let them say it first if they truly believe it was. Too many people have turned what was once a heart-felt sentiment of sportsmanship, into something toxic. Now we never know when someone is being an a-hole or sincere. I definitely don’t get the “GG” when one side gets destroyed. That makes no sense. Obviously it wasn’t a “good game” for the side that got creamed. It’s ok to not say anything at all, when you kick butt. In my opinion, that’s more sportsmanlike (unfortunately) in today’s toxic gaming world.

Meh, the only players I am worried about going against with this change as bully sabo squads since slugging was all you could really do against them.

Granted, my playstyle doesn't include slugging...well....ever except in pretty rare situations (sabo squad being the main one or if there are two survivors left and I see them both when I take one down, then I'll go ahead and go after the other one but I won't slug the third person to try to find the fourth).

I could change my mind obviously once it actually comes out if this is a bigger deal than I expect it to be but I just don't really see this being much of a problem for me as a killer and it'll be nice to actually be able to do something about it when I get a killer that insists on slugging everyone and making the game come to a crawl.

Well said. I 100% agree with everything you stated.

Im not sure what the numbers would be. Every day, I play at varying levels as a survivor, yesterday I had solo matches, a duo match then a few trios, and then a full squad.

I reckon it'd be very difficult for them to get an actual statistic.

Some of the stats they give us actually surprises me sometimes, leaving me to wonder how they tracked it. Take the statistics for calculating how much less people were DCin’g when they first introduced the DC penalty, for example. I don’t know anything about programming, but I would wager they could get the survivor population stats just as easy, if not easier.

I remember when matchmaking was based on Emblems and Rank back when you only matched with players of the dame color rank as you. Once you got to purple ranks you started to get much better teammates than the randoms you get today as a SoloQ.

I have another one. Remember when Sabotuer permanently disabled hooks and Trapper's traps and the only way to hook people was basement?

I heard about that- I started in 2019 so that was before my time. Sounds like a nightmare!

  • I’m concerned it may lead to more sabotaging of hooks. Not quite sure how, but I can see squads taking advantage of this. Survivors would be able to pick themselves up before the hooks came back.

  • @SpaghettiVase said:

yes. Breakdown works regardless of how you leave the hook.

I said I was doing gens, but I am not going to run up to you and wave my hands in your face, I'm gonna survive while doing my objective. If you think I should be farmed out for that, idk what to tell you.

Why are you so defensive?? Did you read my entire post? I stated I don’t agree with the killer killing you when he found you on a gen, and I also stated I wouldn’t do that. C’mon now.

    Excerpt from my post:

“I don’t agree with that killer doing what he did since he found you on a gen trying. And I don’t agree with your teammate selling you out- but he probably took it as though you weren’t contributing to the team. He got the wrong impression based on what you described.

I’ve had players blatantly sell out other players who i know for a fact was contributing, so I wouldn’t do anything. I’d just signal for them to finish gens and hurry up and get out so we all can move on to the next match”

  • Right? I remember Red Ranks. They weren’t perfect, but they always did seem to give me a sense of accomplishment and prestige making it up there- especially when I was a fairly new player with a year or two in. I know a lot of people always used to say Rank didn’t mean anything, but to me it did. It definitely wasn’t the definitive way to say if a player was skilled or not, but your Rank was a decent indicator IMO. It made sense a lot of times when you got to the post match screen.

  • It’s all about perception. If I can’t find you or don’t see you contributing to the team (hook saves & gens) all game, then I’m going to assume you’re a coward and not being a team player. Especially if I find you crouched somewhere behind a rock not doing anything, waiting for the 2nd to last player I was about to kill, to die. If I know the other 3 were trying their best to play the game normally and you were being selfish, then you die and the other one gets to go. But if I get the impression you were playing stealthy and smart, and I find you on a gen miles away because your teammate sold you out, I’ll let you both go.

I don’t agree with that killer doing what he did since he found you on a gen trying. And I don’t agree with your teammate selling you out- but he probably took it as though you weren’t contributing to the team. He got the wrong impression based on what you described.

I’ve had players blatantly sell out other players who i know for a fact was contributing, so I wouldn’t do anything. I’d just signal for them to finish gens and hurry up and get out so we all can move on to the next match.

  • I remember Old Undying. I think it was a really good perk but hated going against it. It was such a great feeling to beat it though. And back then, I didn’t have Tapp for Small Game and ofc Jill & Counterforce didn’t exist yet.

For our newer players, Undying 1.0 use to keep transferring your Hex Totem to Dull Totems after each cleanse, unless you found & cleansed the undying totem itself. It made for interesting gameplay, because ofc you couldn’t tell which was which. It created chaos like Hex: Plaything, in which survivors would be running around looking for totems, a la Easter Egg hunts.

  • Old Pop, Old Ruin, AND ESPECIALLY Old Undying were fine, and should’ve never been nerfed/reworked IMO. Waaay better than what we have today. As much as I hated going against the old versions of Pop & Undying, they were at least counter-able if you knew what you were doing. It was solo que that made that a nightmare. OMG i just realized something, imagine if today’s entitled ragequitting players had to deal with those 3 beasts in their hey day?? Their heads would explode from salty tears.

  • At this point, I fear we have a better chance of losing them than getting new cosmetics for them.

  • @blue4zion said:

The hardest games are so satisfying to win.

    GGs

And this is exactly why players shouldn’t ragequit. My best and most fun games were comeback games when ######### looked REAL bad. One smart play can turn everything around. I had one this morning: 3 genned with one hooked, one dead, and one slugged a few feet from hooked. Huntress with no hatchets kept patrolling back and forth but made the mistake of doing so between a pallet, after strategically placing myself nearby, I studied her movement. I timed the pallet stun just right in front of hooked, unhooked that person, and picked up the slugged. Huntress made another mistake of trying to tunnel the recently unhooked. All 3 of us eventually got the last gen done and got out, after I carefully opened an exit gate with her semi-patrolling both.

But my favorite ones to win against is the Pentimento/Plaything build. Especially when it’s on Pinhead because you have the box in addition to that. Pure CHAOS. It’s rare to beat because players usually give up, smh.

  • Add this to the list of things that make this game’s mechanics antiquated: solo/SWF gap, Nurse’s power, the need to camp/tunnel to compete, servers/security/coding. I know this is not a popular opinion, but I really believe BHVR needs to make a sequel (yes I know they said “no” to doing so).

  • Don’t insult the bots. At least they don’t ragequit like entitled babies. If they got stuck on a tree, they would be more useful than some of our player base.

"A lot" is probably an overestimate. There's definitely people that can consistently hit Great skill checks but I'd be surprised if they're not a very small minority of players.

Let’s not get caught up in the semantics of “a lot,” that’s not important. It’s subjective and taken from my experience reading on here, Twitter, and watching Youtube videos of players pulling it off consistently. My point is there are players who can do it, kudos to them for being able to do it, but unfortunately i can’t.

  • @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3194039#Comment_3194039

A lot of people run Hyperfocus with Stake Out which turns Good checks into Great checks. I’m betting the devs are specifically keeping an eye on that particular combo though.

Yea I’m familiar with that combo, but there are a lot of players who can hit the great skill checks without any SO stacks consistently- getting max value. I struggle doing it.

  • I don’t know how y’all hit those skill checks. I can’t get past the 3rd one most of the time- especially if the 4th one is at 4 o’clock. I don’t even attempt at that point and just settle for a good skill check.

  • I feel your pain. This in combination with teammates ragequitting frequently has me playing less and less. This game has become more frustrating than fun, but yet somehow I can’t seem to find another game to replace this as my main. I don’t get it. I feel like this game will make me quit before I find something more worth my time, and that sucks.

  • I’m not experiencing more, fortunately. It was worse for me prior to this patch. Everyone’s experience may be due to matchmaking/MMR and/or region. I play on NA servers, however I can no longer make a guesstimate to what my MMR is. I feel like matchmaking is random as hell. The only player type I do not get, is a bad/inexperienced killer. Haven’t seen one in a month.

  • They removed the lobby ping for the servers?? Sigh. I know you can see if a teammate has a high ping, but i didn’t even notice the lobby’s was gone.

  • Yea the challenges in this last chapter (IV) are reminiscent of all the difficult challenges in Tomes I & II. I hope this doesn’t become a thing again. They promised to tone down the difficulty for them, and they need to keep their promise.

Btw I skipped that one. It creates a dead end. Didn’t get it after 6 games. Best to play killer and go around it with the simple killer challenges. They’re time consuming like “kill 12 survivors by any means” (at least 3 games if you can 4K all three, but not likely unless you play Nurse 😆).

  • @Nazzzak said:

I always get Shelter Woods as soon as I select a 'fall from a great height' challenge. I swear the game does this on purpose.

It’s like whenever I bring a Purple medkit- I summon Plague as my killer.

I always hated Shelter Woods. The only map I hate more is Wrecker’s Yard. SW definitely needs a rework- I agree with OP.

  • @SuzuKR said:

Then you are the problem. If you have a problem with some part of the game, take it up with devs respectfully. If you take it out on the other players by disconnecting, suiciding on hook, AFKing, sandbagging, etc, you are the problem in that game.

Blatant cheater holding a game hostage? Sure. Game-breaking bug like being permanently stuck in a hill? Sure.

Because you dislike the map? Because you dislike the other side's build(s)? Because you dislike the other side's character(s)/cosmetic(s)? Because you dislike something that happened in the game (eg, downed early/flashlight saved/gens done quickly/etc)? Because of literally any other non-cheater/game-breaking bug reason? You are the problem.

There's a really, really easy solution if you hate facing a part of this game that badly. Don't queue up.

By DCing/suiciding/AFKing/sandbagging/etc, you are actively ruining this game for the other 4 players just because you are incapable of handling facing some part of this game. Sure, you paid for this game for your own fun and aren't responsible for others, blah blah blah. But guess what? If every single person gave up the second they faced a part of the game that wasn't how they wanted it, you would not be getting to play out any games either.

Want to take up what you see as an issue with devs respectfully? Sure, go for it. All the power to you. When you're in a game? Either suck it up buttercup, or don't queue up at all. If you care that little about the experience of anyone except yourself, go play a single player game and don't ruin the game for the people that are mature enough to play through a match they queued up for.

    @Kirahie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/346620/if-you-dc-suicide-afk-sandbag-etc-because-the-game-isnt-how-you-wanted-it

TBF I will admit I was misguided for saying their is no reason to DC the other day. You just gave two very acceptable ones.

But yes. Don't dc because you got downed first or because you heard nurses cry.

You queued knowing nurse is in the game and that killers can down uou.

Sorry, but too many in this community are entitled brats who have parents that failed them. They don’t know how to handle adversity and just end up resorting to throwing a tantrum because it worked for them when their mommy and daddy spoiled them.

It would be nice if they would just leave the game all together. If you’re constantly not having fun, why keep on playing? Devs just need to make the dc penalty harsher and start pairing up the serial DCers with each other so they can only ruin each other’s games.

    @woodenEnthusiasm said:

I haven't had a single match without a dc or suicide in 4 days. If you don't wanna play the game just stop playing it. No one is forcing you to sit and suffer.

Imagine, your dumbass ragequit at 5 gens but us remaining three survivors died after completing 4. What does that tell you? So tired of these babies. Uninstall if you can’t handle adversity. Why the hell do you keep playing??

I think he’s fine, and he’s the ONLY killer now I enjoy going against. I tip my hat to those Dredge players who can anticipate a locker lock attempt, only to kidnap my ass and squeeze them cheeks once the two of us are alone inside. It actually makes me laugh and give props for the 300 IQ.

A few tips you may or may not know about Dredge that hopefully helps:

    • If there are two lockers side by side, only lock one. Whenever the Dredge tries to teleport to the unlocked one, he automatically gets sent to the locked one. So after the first teleport, if you ever revisit that same area again- lock the other one, and the same thing will happen as before- he gets sent to the locked one. Now I don’t know if this works when there is a small gap between lockers.

    • When looping, plan ahead (should be doing this with every killer really- but more so with anti-loop killers like Artist & Dredge). Be prepared to get to the next safest tile (if possible) once he puts his husk down. If not an option, bait it out by quickly doing a 180 when approaching it. Very hard to avoid a hit, tbh- good killers know not to swing immediately after a teleport to husk. But it’s your only play and worth the attempt to get someone who may be anxious for a hit/down to whiff.
    • Always be on alert for him when you’re on a gen- especially during Nightfall. I’m continuously panning my camera around for him, like when I play against a Wraith, Myers, or Pig.
    • When in chase, always be ready for a locker cutoff. You can bait it out if you know you’re heading towards a locker area and you purposely don’t look behind. Most Dredge’s will go for the cutoff. Do a quick 180 to a safe tile.

Dredge is cool. There’s just a lot of

….a lot of great killers who can make even Clown seem S-Tier.

  • I’m noticing that well- especially after yesterday’s games. I don’t get it either. I’ve only been hindered ONCE, while in chase with him- due to full infection. I feel like pre-dropping them would hurt me more, because a lot of times I bait the drop- then he waits trying to catch me off guard with a vault of his own. Sort of like baiting Legions in frenzy with a certain build (not a Legion player but it’s one of their most annoying builds- think it has Julie’s mixtape).

  • They nerfed DH wrong. They even said it themselves that they were looking at the “third health state.”

I always said the best way to fix it, was to take away its iFrames. Make it so it could only be used for distance, and if survivors were not careful- killers could down them during the animation. I would have even gone as far as slapping on an additional 30-45 seconds for the exhaustion penalty, so if the killer did a quick slug & that survivor got right back up quickly- killer wouldn’t have to deal with DH again.

The third chance is the biggest problem with it now, and even more so before.

  • I’m so ######### tired of ragequitters. I hope the bot drop in system comes soon. Watch those bots play better than those self entitled jerks. They could get stuck on a tree, and they’d STILL be more useful than these babies.

  • Yea it happened to me at the exit gate- I thought it was complete horse #########. It’s like dealing with Blight now. Luckily for me he didn’t have a hook nearby and was forced to drop me, and I got out while he downed someone else.

  • I thought we were doing this any way… I do this more so towards my teammates when they are cowards or trying to let themselves go on hook, or made a very stupid play leading them to get hooked. I also add a body shake motion of “no,” like as to say: “smh.” I wont spam it on killers, or waste gen time doing it to them, I’ll use it once then run off if I can’t trade (bubba).

  • “He likes to draw??” LMAOOOOO! 🤣 Was that a shot at Hag when she places her traps?? If so that ######### is hilarious!

On topic: Hag is the only killer who can still give me a jump scare in 2022. She is so rare to find in a trial, I personally don’t find her that bad to go against. But I will admit when she was more popular ages ago, she was as annoying to deal with as trapper.

  • I feel like any healing perk (except Autodidact) that helps you heal your team quickly, helps a lot in surviving in solo que. The quicker you get injured teammates “back in the game,” the better. This is why sloppy butcher is such a good killer perk- it wastes time.

Off topic: Does anyone know if the hook bubble is supposed to block Kindred now, or is that a glitch? If that’s intentional, then that sucks.

  • I’m not a fan of “gg.” I feel like the trolls took a positive sentiment and turned it into something that could be a passive aggressive taunt. You can’t tell any more if someone is being genuine- especially not via on screen text.

Now if someone says “gg” and they lost, you know they have sportsmanship and mean it. But to stomp an entire team with Starstruck/Infectious Nurse within 5 mins, and no one got higher than 6K? That is not a “good” game. That was an ass whoopin. Why would you tell someone “good game” when obviously it was not for them?? It was a good game only for you.

I’m on Xbox, and from time to time players (survivors & killers) will message me “gg.” It’s mostly when they win, though. I rarely ever got a “gg” as killer for killing survivors, or “gg” from a killer who got 2K or less.

  • @Marik1987 said:

You are the only one matters. Thats how u win SoloQ with highest chances.

Sole Survivor, Wake Up, Clairvoyance, Exhaustion-Perk of your choice

Clairvoyance = kill a totem and u see the aura of the hatch

Wake Up = if the killer shuts the hatch down before u are there, chill a bit, walk slowly and stealthy to an exit gate, wait till the killer checked it and then open it superfast to leave (doesnt work if the killer can see both switches from a little position on the map.

Sole Survivor = Again speed up for opening the door - stacks with Wake Up

4th perk is mostly an exhaustion-perk (Deadhard/Lithe most likely).

Main Rule: DO NOT GO INTO A CHASE, START STEALTHY and wait before working on a gen till the killer is in the chase with another one.

“Lethal Pursuer grins while reading the Main Rule, as he steadily approaches…”

  • I think the devs should have increased gen times significantly more, then nerfed all gen regressing/increasing perks, as well as toolkits and their add-ons. That way killers & survivors could focus more on perks to end chases quicker or prolong chases.

All this meta shakeup did for gens was shift which gen regression perks are more popular and make survivors use up perk slots to increase gen efficiency like before.
