I just have my character face in a diff. direction and pretend to go afk and act like I don’t care. They always go away before I get crows. Some try to be slick and pretend like they are walking away and quickly walk back- I don’t budge. That’s how I sell it. Troll failed.

Generally when I load in as killer there's an ominous wind blowing in the darkness. To my right, hallways. To my left, more of the same.
As I search the empty halls, I hear a familiar sound. The sound of a generator being fully completed. A generator already? I ask to myself.
Click click.
Click click.
This...this is a SWF...isn't it?
Click click.
This literally made me laugh out loud! Good show!

Mmmm I think it should be the other way around- healing others shouldn’t remove DS. Healing yourself, yes. Safe hooks shouldn’t disable it either, IMO. If you’re in the killer’s terror radius, then ok.

They were stealth nerfed a long time ago when BHVR changed from the previous version of Unreal Engine to the current engine version build.
The fog mechanics were severely nerfed and basically the offerings don't do jack. They weren't that big a deal in the past but at least before if you stacked Murky Reagents the smoke got really thick. It wasn't as big a deal as you would think and killer could still see you easy, and you could still see Myers or Pig sneaking around without much problem.
But when they did the big engine overhaul to the new version of UE they changed the fog mechanics completely and it resulted in what you see today. Reagent offerings have been useless for like the last two years or so. Just another one of the many, many things that BHVR did that completely killed the game's atmosphere.
A damn shame.

Trust me, Fog used to be a lot and I mean A LOT thicker, as killer you could only see 5ft in front of you with just one Murky Reagents.
Theyre old and pretty outdatted, I think its time to disable them tbh
Yup, it was thick enough not to get spotted out in the open from far- which I liked. I can tolerate the change, I just don’t like the guise of pretending like nothing has changed and now regents have been reduced to nothing more than BP leeches.

Dead By Daylight is now Dead At 8 AM, and I don't think the reasoning is very good
Sure, it used to be easier for survivors to hide back when the map was darker, but what good is hiding realistically? Teams don't win by Urban Evasioning behind rocks. I see no reason to believe this was actually a significant advantage.
I found it useful for not being spotted running for hook saves and 1 v 1 exit gate mind games.

They constantly blinded the blight before his PoV fix and not much else.
Also as someone who played blight through that made me realize these offerings are unbalance-able.
I feel like they should just be removed for the same reason the moonlight offerings were: To let the developers actually control both the ambience and stealth possibilities of all maps.
It would make their design ideals more consistent along with just clearing out the bloodweb of junk.
Interesting…never knew.

Fog basically doesn’t exist anymore which is a shame. I stacked 2 purple ones last night and it barely did anything
Smh. Damn shame. So pretty much this was stealth nerfed like the barrels.
@Hex_Ignored said:
Fog offerings should just be retired like the moonlight offerings; they barely do anything except clutter up the bloodweb
@Huge_Bush said:
They just serve as a blood point waster.
Exactly. I agree. They should be removed. If they were to be nerfed, then fine. I’m not happy about it, but I accept it. But don’t leave them in the Bloodweb knowing they don’t do anything but eat our Bloodpoints and serve as a road block to better items/offerings. That’s underhanded and it rubs me the wrong way. Very disappointed in the devs for this one.

It did when it happened, despite the fact that nobody was cheating in the match, just cause I wasn't sure how BHVR handled hacking reports. We have a lot of hours in the game but neither of us have ever been accused of hacking before. This was a few weeks ago (thread just got dug up because I was replying to comments I missed while I was away from the forum for a bit) and nothing happened to anyone who was playing in that match, so I'm not really concerned much at all anymore!
Yea never worry about that when you get threatened with a report. That goes for any game. As long as you’re playing fair, you never have anything to worry about. Devs are usually good about taking false reports into consideration when they design their report system. They know players could be mistaken. The report system in this particular game does absolutely nothing to those that deserve it, unfortunately.
-
Does him reporting you, have you concerned?
-
Meme builds. I like putting together something that has a theme based around a particular category like Difficult to Hook, Anti-Tunnel, Anti-Camp, Lockers, Totems, Difficult Skill Checks, the Basement, Item Handicapping, & the Exit Gates. Doing so reduces my chances of escaping & 4King a lot, but it’s nice to do something different now and again for fun.
-
That’s funny- I was wondering about this last week. The very next day after thinking about it, I played on it twice. I used to get Thompson House a lot on old Coldwind.
-
Nope, that’s the best play in that situation. Entitlement at its finest, smh.
-
Personally I wouldn’t like good mixed with bad players. That’s how MMR system starts you out because it needs to figure out where to place you. That’s test weekend was unbearable for me. I stopped playing that first day until the test was over. I kept getting green & beige ranks as teammates to go against red rank killers. That didn’t make sense to me. Nearly game, everyone played what their level indicated.
-
Oof.
-
SWF makes Asymmetrical Horror games competitive & unbalanced.
-
Killer because of SWF. Most solo que games for me as killer are pretty chill. I can take my time and go out of my way to make things fun and exciting for myself and the survivors. Most of my games are pretty close. SWF most of the time you can’t even enjoy playing because gens go like crazy and the players are purposely being annoying with flashlights, teabagging, and spamming sound ques. Don’t get me wrong, Survivor isn’t a cakewalk either due to some people’s game sense. But killer is harder & less fun IMO.

I actually kobed off a hook that then allowed to escape during end game about two weeks ago on my last attempt

Happened a few nights ago. Sadly, I was in the basement and Myers was camping the stairs, so it didn’t do me much good.
Ok, cool. Thanks for the feedback. Guess my luck has currently ran out for now.

Not trying to be toxic, but this account was made less than 24 hours ago. You have to understand the skepticism of your post- especially since everyone who has really put time into playing killer knows it’s not “easy.”
-
@SomberNokk said:
I did it first try in a match last night.
Mmmm ok, thanks.
@TapeKnot said:
What’s so strange about it? By default you only have a 4% chance to escape with each attempt.
@IWFreak said:
I also succeeded in Kobeing a few days ago.
Remember it is a 4% chance you succeed. It should be one of those "1 in a million" moments.
Fully aware about the 4%. I found it strange because I’ve played this game for almost 4 years and I’ve Kobe’d off at least ONCE per update/chapter. This is new to me. I didn’t give it any thought last chapter, we have a mid-chapter coming next week (?)/soon and it just dawned on me this is two chapters I’ve gone without doing it. Same gameplay as always, for the past 4 years. I’m not doing anything different. Just curious what everyone else’s experiences were…
-
”If it glows, it goes.” Don’t be scared of Haunted Grounds ppl- better to get rid of it early than to find out later there is NOED to deal with- especially if there are only two totems left. That was the original undying.
‘But to OP’s point, yea it sucks when teammates miss a Hex Totem close by. Happened to me yesterday. I had two on one gen and the totem was not only in ear shot, it could be seen from the gen with the correct camera angle. I’m guessing the noise of the gen drowned it out and they kept their cameras in one position. I don’t get upset though- twice recently I was actively looking for Hex Totems and missed them. After a teammate cleansed and I look back, I ask myself how the hell did I miss it? I just came from there and searched the area well (or so I thought).
Btw, is it me or does Undying cause the Hex totem it’s protecting to have a lower flame and be quieter?
-
Our community needs to realize doing gens is the only way to stop players from camping. Those of us on hook have to “take one for the team” and be martyrs for the cause. Campers rely on altruistic survivors to get their kills- and usually they get them. That’s why they keep doing it. Just do gens and escape. That will sting their ego and one hooks won’t be fun for them.
-
I’m like you, OP- I get excited for them. I’m glad we are getting them more often now. I’m big on cosmetics and charms, so this is right up my alley. I appreciate the additional BP for completing challenges as well.
-
All great responses in here- including yours, OP. I do all of the above: boot the snoot when growled at in succession, drop my item & bow, and my favorite- head nod at the exit gate when I’m the last survivor & the killer made it a an intense game. Getting that nod back as a mutual sign or respect is a nice feeling.
-
Infectious fright + Starstruck + the add-on that makes you scream- all on Nurse.
-
Isn’t that exactly what you’d have to do in MMR? It’s not going to know where you stand at first, so it’ll pool you with those you despise most and you’ll have to carry to climb out. I dislike MMR/SMR in games. I feel like there is a skill level not being accounted for: mid-tier casual. Not great at the game, but not bad at it either. MMR feels like you only have two pools to be placed in: God tier or Sub Par. You’re not good enough to get into god tier so guess where you go? Once you’re on the bottom, you keep sinking further into the MMR’s abyss due to getting farmed off hooks, cowards hiding while knowing the killer is preoccupied, and ragequitting. This is why it didn’t work the first time they tried it.
If I keep getting teammates that play like that, I’m going to quit this game. When they enabled it a few weeks back, I stopped playing after the 2nd day. It was bad. I have game sense and can do what I’m supposed to. I can’t be expected to carry players who are pulling me off hook in front of the killer and crouching in a corner when I’m in chase on the other side.

I mean this is Dead By Daylight there's a 50/50 chance they are gonna run into a sticky obstacles and waste their window of speed. I think the real reason people don't like is is the characters look like smug pricks when using it. Admit it, the little naruto dash run tickles the part of your brain that desires retribution against the cocky and insolent. That's the true reason no one likes playing against people with the perk. If the animation looked less smug I gurantee you no one would be as against it. I know your inner thoughts guys you can't hide the truth from me.

Devotion 8, Rank 1, they were rank 2...
Wow. That’s disappointing to hear red ranks behaving that way. How did the game end?
-
Oh dear Gawd, no. I hate all the stealth killers in the game. They’re all very annoying to deal with.
-
SWF…
-
Curious- what level are you, and what level were they?
-
I think it’s actually in a good place now- ESPECIALLY first use. Due to Better Together & Flashbang also being yellow, I usually assume its either one and don’t anticipate ToT. Forget about it if I’m on gen that’s above 50%- I automatically assume the killer has Tinkerer instead lol.
If they ever decide to buff it by removing the aura, I don’t think I’d have a problem with it as long as the cool down is just a smidge longer. Killers will get a lot of cheeky hits with that thing haha.
-
Plot twist- that was actually the pallet moaning after getting shredded into splinters.
-
Personally I think they should have given him a different power. The game does need another long range killer, but his knives are more irritating to play against, and boring to play with. Well, at least for me it is. I like his lore and character design. A+ And he currently has the best cosmetic in the game (Neon Lights).
-
Give it time….
Joking aside, glad the community welcomed you with support. It’s nice to have a “feels good” thread on here every so often.

I f—-ing hate trapper. One game against him and I’m checking my feet seven games later against a Doctor.
And people are asking for buffs, smh.
Lmao glad to know I’m not the only one to experience the effect of trapper into the next match haha!
-
Crossplay should allow you to still play with players on your platform who have it off. For example, a three man squad and a killer who ALL have crossplay OFF on Xbox- can still have a fourth Xbox solo survivor who has crossplay ON- get put into that lobby. To take it a step further, give that lobby priority so que times aren’t so long for those who prefer to have it off.
-
By the title, I’m assuming the same trap caught a survivor twice- without being moved. I’m also assuming trapper has to reset the trap himself and not that add on that does one every 30 sec automatically.
-
I think there is something our community is overlooking… DBD is a video game, and kids play video games. A lot of wich are immature and selfish due to their age (not all). Same kids who ruined Friday the 13th with their stupid ######### like killing fellow campers with the car and shooting them. Same kids who would rage quit out of frustration for being found first or “losing.” Don’t get me wrong, adults can be guilty of this too- but I suspect a lot of immaturity when it comes to everything you mentioned above.
-
For me, I’m playing with characters that don’t have them. They are level 50 and I am using up all their items before i prestige them to the next level.
-
Sounds like some toxic SWF. Sorry man.

Lolol

Please guys- don’t lump immersed players in with cowards & jerks. Two different groups. If someone is self caring during kindred or standing still somewhere, they are just plain asshats, not immersed. Immersed players will still go for saves and do objectives, I.e be efficient. They just choose to be stealthy & cautious about things. They will take hits for you when they have to. And they usually don’t run self care either.
But yea, I hate getting farmed as well. Idc if you have borrowed time- wait till the killer leaves. Besides, unnecessary trading is not being efficient if he decides to go after you.
-
You’re lucky…when that happens to me the killer is rank 1 or 2. Like how am I supposed to carry 3 greens against a rank 1?? And just my luck every 1 plays exactly how their rank shows. Never get that rank 1 trying out a killer he’s not too familiar or strong with, and my green beans to the unhook heal circle jerk (no misdirection to throw off barbecue) till everyone’s dead.
-
This is the easiest one yet. They purposely made it that way and it was in the patch notes. I finished everything by Tome III.

i love that one too, especially the music when you are barely out his terror radius, it's very creepy.
Yea Hillbilly’s is good. So is his title screen. My favorite title screen music is Legion’s. They killed it.

Players need to play both sides equally (for a least a small period of time) to understand where each side is coming from. When I first started playing I saw one too many YouTube vids and thought clicking my flashlight to get the killers attention away from teammates was necessary. Once I started playing killer, I realize it was actually quite the opposite because he sees everyone anyway, and that ######### is annoying. So I stopped lol. As killer I used to camp and tunnel thinking it was viable. When I was survivor and it happened to me a few times, I stopped that ######### immediately. No fun literally not getting a chance to play play the damn game. Tunneled out with 5K to my name.
Now this whole gen rushing thing is a different story. I don’t get that ######### at all. What else are survivors supposed to do? Jerk each other off in the corner? When it happens to me it’s because I have no gen defense and or I didn’t pressure gens enough. I don’t blame survivors. But I digress. My point is: walk a mile in each other’s shoes and that’ll cut down on the toxicity in our community.
-
Yea but it’ll have to be a hex perk though, to be fair. The entity will stick spikes up your butt when you vault a window and injure you. Survivors will also need a subtle visual que as well, before they decide to vault. That thing would be strong on Insta-down killers.
