Why be angry when you lose in an MMR SBMM type of online game?

It sucks that you didnt escape, sure, but theres still positive. You losing = your MMR goes down, so your next match should realistically be easier. That helps you avoid that "high MMR games scumming each other out" that you were talking about so i dont really see why you're complaining about that.

Quite the opposite. Survivor's victory depends on how good your teammates are. Lower MMR will bring you to worse teammates, and winning will be even harder.

If you stop genrushing, dont put keys or toolboxes i stop tunneling and camping. Can you do it?

By "stop genrushing" you mean "stop playing the game and go AFK for several minutes"?

  • - Selfcare is a bad perk, never pick it, it's weak and inefficient!

    - Then let's buff it a bit!

    - No, never, it'll be overpowered and break the game!

  • I hope never

What kind of cheating, even if it's very miniscule? I want to know what to look out for.

Some of those hackers will let you know they are hacking. They will play random animations, insta heal themselves and teammates, fly around the map, stun the killer for a minute, etc. I think OP is talking about these kind of cheaters.

  • I double this as much as I can. Just out of curiosity: have you DC's or suicided a lot within the last few months? It could be we are in the same Elo Hell of soloQ because of it.

  • Probably because of MMR. You are so good at this game your MMR is similar to that of cheaters, so you get matched with them more frequently.

  • Tunneling is the most efficient tactic for killers. The more skillful the killer is - the more likely he will tunnel.

  • @SonicOffline said:

It's a thing that happens from time to time. The game starts anyway but recognizes the DC after the fact.

I mean, by what they were saying in chat it looked like they did it on purpose. I played Wraith and the DC happened just after I hit the friend of the DCer. Could it be there is an exploit that allows a survivor to "suspend" DC while loading, so that they could dodge the whole game if they don't like the killer or something?

  • Sometimes the game is so hopeless there is no point trying. Trying to win an unwinnable game = waste of time. It's more efficient to die and go for the next game sooner.

  • @Hex_Ignored said:

With this mindset it's pretty likely everyone will die because you basically "eliminated" a player from the game. As a killer player I support your decision wholeheartedly

Well, having everyone dead is not so frustrating as being the only one dead.

  • Hey, I'm not sandbagger, but 1000 bloodpoints is 1000 bloodpoints.

So you're not a potato survivor. That means you'll be able to loop the potato killer really well, and waste their time, while the potato survivors sit on gens.

If a potato survivors goes down, you can make the save.

You get a ton of chase, stun, distraction, rescue, heal and protection points, and you increase your mmr.

    "potato survivors sit on gens"

You have a contradiction here, try again.

Also, it's unknown what makes MMR goes up or down, so it can be like with emblems: if you loop the killer for 5 gens and die - you depip/lose MMR. Since we don't know the truth, we can only fear BHVR did the worst here.

  • @Seraphor said:

Lower mmr → worse killer → easier to win → higher mmr → harder to win → ...

If you keep losing match after match and it doesn't seem like your mmr is moving down. You're either doing better than you think (you can pip even when you die, so theoretically you could score well on the mmr metrics even when you don't escape) or, you're just not that good in general.

If you are familiar with DbD, you know perfectly well it's not how it works. A potato killer will always wipe the floor with potato survivors, because it takes much more time to learn how to loop than to learn how to follow survivors running in straight lines and hit them with a weapon. Almost every match at low ranks ends with 4k, it's a well known fact. So potato teammates will always doom you to fail, even if the killer is a cat walking on a keyboard.

Except Wraith isn't one of the weakest killers in the game

    Except he is.

  • 4k every game feels fair, yeah, sure. I guess the devs have the same idea of balance as you.

  • You probably have low MMR, therefore you are going against the weakest killers in the game.

  • People suicide because they want to leave a hopeless game and find a new one sooner. You should not save them, because they will find a way to die again just after that and will probably also try to retaliate for the save they didn't want. If the game turned so bad and hopeless people start leaving - there is nothing you can do.

In some of the rooms, the game will desync if you are inside too long, usually the sink tiles. This has been happening since midchapter has released

Wait, what? Desync is dependent on ROOMS you are in? It just makes no sense, do you have any reference to that?

  • Is that why almost every game where I'm a soloQ survivor and the killer has Devour ends up being an ez win for the killer? I agree with all the suggestions, sure, let's make soloQ even more unbearable, so that killers only get 4-man sweat squads as their opponents.

  • If they are not going to make SWF a separate game mode, they won't do any of these either.

  • Your console might be just too weak to handle all the next gen monstrosity of this game. You should probably make an upgrade. Getting a new graphics card helped me on PC long time ago.

  • Killers always have long queue time at daytime and insta lobby after sunset, it's how it's been forever since I started playing the game. I guess there are just a lot of killer mains who have free time during afternoon, and then they have to go to sleep early.

  • If you like me suicided a lot in the past few months - your MMR will be potato tier, since they have been gathering data for MMR for all this time. Or if you went out of your way for those archive challenges and thew games because of it a lot - same. Now you are stuck in Elo Hell forever. Enjoy your stay.

  • If you dropped them too far from the hatch they assumed you wanted to close the hatch in their face while they would be crawling to it. Next time if you want to give the hatch - you can drop them straight on top of it and walk away.

Change it to immunity from a hit, remove the lunge, extend the i-frames by a second or so.

Now Killers 'hit' the Survivor and get the whole weapon hit slowdown. That is all. No DH for distance. Just DH to absorb a hit & make distance via Killer slowdown.

So you want turn this perk into Styptic Agent?

  • It rarely matters what powers the killers had in their original universes. Pinhead will probably get some ranged antiloop crap once again.

mhnnn.... Glenvale for example, is a desert so that might be out. a flooded RCPD would be... would it be better or worse? Hawkins wouldn't change much, come to think of it.

Torn down and burned to the ground RCPD would definitely be better.

I wouldn't hold my breath for an explanation as to how it works. As I recall, it's been stated that if and when this system goes into effect they have no intention of telling us how it works because the instant they do, people will start finding ways to game it so they get to be matched up with who they want/who they think they should be matched with instead of what the math says.

So they don't want people to play better in order to get better teammates and opponents? This sounds more like a joke to be honest. The explanation with covering up their mistakes seems far more realistic.

You are so sure of it you must know

Those concepts are not related at all. I can understand the general concept of an MMR without knowing the specifics of the highly complex (and likely proprietary) algorithm that goes into making the calculations.

I can expand on what I'd consider fair bets of how it works, but they'd be my guesses based on how I would do it, and would just be general statements, with no actual math involved.

If you don't know what is a "win" for the MMR system - this system is useless, since you don't know what you have to do in order to "win". Imagine it works the same way as pips (and there is a great chance it does so), meaning you have to farm unhooks, gens, chases and THEN escape in order to "do good" for the MMR. If you just loop the killer for 5 gens and then escape - you will then lose your MMR without even knowing it. You will be sure you did good, but the game decided you wasn't good enough and decreases your MMR, putting you with worse teammates in the next game. It's nonsense and it can't be called "the the system works as intended", because it doesn't: it clearly uses wrong metrics, making MMR inconsistent. This is why every game in the universe that uses MMR makes it crystal clear how MMR is calculated, so that players can see it's working correctly. DbD in the only exception in the history of mankind in this regard, because the devs want to hide it in case it doesn't work, so that they don't have to deal with complaints. This is why MMR is good, but hidden and obfuscated MMR is horrible.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2425192#Comment_2425192

Realized that most people want MMR? Yes, they did.

Real talk: How much different do you think MMR is going to be from the current system? It's an expansion of the current system, if anything. It takes more metrics into account, but instead of working off a pip/depip system that we already knows is heavily flawed and can be exploited, it instead gives you a number that's more or less equivalent to what can be called "skill", then matches you with people of similar "skill".

Now explain me, how do you calculate skill? How do you put skill into a single number? What is the equation? I know MMR goes up when you win and down when you lose, but what is considered a "win" and "lose" for survivors by this system? You are so sure of it you must know, so care to tell?

  • Because his facecamping is easily countered by cooperative actions of survivors. If you are getting camped to death - it's your team's fault.

  • Also, if you play in soloQ, you will get awful teammates and strong killers, since this crap doesn't work as intended. MMR only works properly for SWFs and killers at the moment.

  • It's hidden, so I have no idea what is considered a "win" by the system and what I should do to get better teammates.

  • It doesn't work as intended at all, at least for soloQ. I only get potato teammates and sweating killers, as if it uses a sum of all survivors' MMRs and matches the sum with the killer's MMR. If the system thinks I'm a potato survivor - at least it should give me potato killers instead of mindgaming tunneling slugging-for-4k sweatlords. It it thinks I'm that good to face these killers - then give me competent survivors. But nope, it's like it's using two separate values to find teammates and to find a killer.

Nah, I just find it legit funny that a Killer Main calls someone a Tryhard, while wanting to dodge Lobbies to get a full Solo-Lobby, just to have it as easy as possible.

And the thought is amusing that someone does a 3 hour playsession in the evening with 2 hours of them dodging Lobbies, because be careful, there is an evil SWF and as we all know, every SWF in this game is at least tournament-level.

And well, SWF is not cheating.

It's not about "easy", it's about fair. Comms = unfair advantage not intended by the game itself, and a huge one. So nothing wrong with not wanting to play against people who use an unfair advantage and wishing instead to play just how the game's balance intends.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2423982#Comment_2423982

Imagine dodging Lobbies instead of playing because you are scared of friends playing together.

    Yikes.

Yeah, because comms don't give 38 extra perks and other advantages which game's balance can't deal with. You are not even trying.

Imagine playing against a known cheater and trying to win instead of dodging the lobby with him. Must be fun.

  • Is there any single SWF group in this game that is not a team of trolls and pricks? Every time something like this happens - it's SWF. Every time survivors bully the killer - it's SWF. It's almost like SWF and enormous toxicity are synonyms.

  • @Rivyn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2423491#Comment_2423491

Doing gens gets them out of the trial. Hence, surviving.

I have more chances to survive if I just hide in the grass and wait for the hatch.

  • @Rivyn said:

It's not false, though? Their objective is in the name. Killer. Who kills people. How they go about it is up to them. Because they kill people.

So, survivors' objective is to survive? Not to do gens, just to survive, that is to hide in grass and wait for the hatch to open, right?

  • My every game as survivor: 4k or 3k if I'm lucky.

My every game as killer: 3k if I sweat my guts out on killers I know well, in any other case it's 1k at best.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2423296#Comment_2423296

This is not true at least by the statements the devs have made. The whole reason the devs locked killers after the initial load screen is because they said each killer would have their own MMR score.

If you could change killers and they had their own MMR scores, killers could ready as a killer they are bad at, get paired against bad survivors, and change to their main once they found a lobby. Therefore, the devs specifically locked this to give each killer their own MMR score. Survivors on the hand all share one MMR regardless of whether you switch from who you usually play.

What you experienced is likely a case of the system not working.

I don't care what the devs said, I told you the truth I witnessed myself. I played Blight for the first time today and in the first game was matched against a 4-man SWF who were really good at the game. Like genrushing pallet faking bodyblocking full meta kind of good. These were by no means rank 20s. Either MMR doesn't work as it should at all, or the devs didn't tell the truth.

  • I literally have to AFK several games in a row with all my killers to even have a chance now. I've never resorted to this, but this "hidden MMR" BS is forcing me. And I think I'll play that Chinese clone of DbD during daytime instead of playing survivors, since I doubt soloQ will be possible to fix at all.

  • Whenever I play survivor - I die or get the hatch. Whenever I play killer - I get matched against a 4-man sweat squad. Even with Blight I played for the first time in my life today. Pretty good job so far, working as intended. I've never had worse games than these two days.

  • This is complete BS, good sir. I have never played Blight in my life, just tried playing him for the first time and I was matched against a 4-man sweat squad who genrushed me in matters of minutes. Please, stop misinformation: there is only one MMR score for all killers as it was with ranks.

  • Isn't it the bug they fixed in the last patch?

  • Hidden ranks are fine. Hidden MMR is scary.

  • You've become so good at this game your MMR started to equal those of cheaters. Congratulations!
