I agree with this. Usually, people who light boom totems (from my experience at least), it's all the way across the map and I would have to risk going over there, trying not to get caught by the killer, just to heal. I would rather just work on a gen at that point.

I run CoH all the time, and honestly, I don't waste my time actively looking for a totem to bless. If I come across one, cool. But most of the time I just don't have time to light a totem. Or the totems I come across are broken because someone is running inner strength or just want to break the totem for whatever reason lol.

    Exactly my experience.

There were actually times where I felt that the killer was putting enough pressure on us that I had to make a choice... *Do I waste my time blessing a totem or work on a gen*.

At least powerful enough that survivors will lose if they dont work together. People have this opinion that if the killer downs you, he's op. He's not. If you lead him on a good chase that your team did gens you came out on top. But people only see from their perspective. They see they got caught and claim "killer op, not fun, plz nerf"

I mean since we're on the topic of "interpretation". I can also add that people do the same thing on the other side.

Where they claim something is OP just because it worked. I have now gone against CoH multiple times and have not had nearly the issue that some on here are running into. Meaning that yes, they healed, but the totem was not accessible at ALL times because of where it was, and also not dumb enough to cross the map just to go heal when the best play at that moment is to stay safe. Something I don't think the people claiming CoH is "OP" even keep in mind.

So from their perspective it is only... "the survivors can heal at all times", when in actuality it isn't as simple as that. Survivors have to take time out from working on gens if they want to gain another health state.

It took 5 months for Undying to be nerfed, so I'll guess 5 months.

    Lmao good one.

It’s funny how I often see threads where (presumably) killer players claim survivors are crying when they themselves are the ones doing most of the crying.

  • I've never had issues with boon totems.

  • NFT drama didn’t help him and With good reason.

  • Hmm. I seem to remember it wasn’t just “survivors” but some killers who also understood how much counter she lacked, and wanted her changed.

Don’t think anyone wants her gutted.

I can tell you that more than likely face camping will never be addressed since the devs really don't see anything wrong with it. In a recent q&a 'apparently!' They're experimenting with techniques but cannot make any promises to implement any.

I don't even believe they're testing anything tbh, personal view.

I'm at a point that face camping doesn't bother me anymore, or tunneling. Or survivors that wanna bully and clicky clicky etc..., cause that's just dbd now.

I get your frustrations though, it sucks the more much people play like scum or sweaty(both sides) since... MMR appeared.

Honestly, I would say just try not to get bothered and learn to live with it or else good luck wanting to stick to this game.

Just my personal opinion is all :)

+liked because saw babu Dweet in post.

j/k 😂 but I agree with your general feelings about this

  • They would have to also rework every perk connected to healing.

    It’s a no from me.

  • It’s interesting you bring the lore of the game, but I don’t think the lore is to blame when it comes to the “core” issues with the game.

I would actually say some of these “issues” players have is from their own interpretation of what a balanced game looks like. (I.E. SoloQ sucks because of it’s lack of comms, yet there you sit with kindred while they crouch behind a rock watching you reach phase 2… in which no comms would have trumped that scenario). That’s just one of many examples.

I see many people on these forums claiming that Camping and Tunneling are strategic (because a developer said it is) as a means to excuse the type of Camping that some killer players use where they are only doing it to grief and have made it very clear because they are not interested in winning.

So in reality the problem resides in the fact that that specific player never got to play/engage in the game. THAT is the reason why those survivors complain, not because the killer used the tactic to try to “win”. There are no mechanics to combat a mechanic in which is so easy to accomplish your goal.

I think it’s very important to distinguish the difference because yes while survivors want to “escape” more than anything they want to play the game whether they die at the end or not. Not hang on a hook the entirety of their trial.

I don't get why people say the others are dead. I find matches very quickly in all of them.

Because you made a post comparing games.

Here are the numbers as it stands right now. Yes people are playing, but when you compare them to Dead by Daylight, it stomps all those numbers combined!

    1.png 2.png 3.png 4.png

Like it's one thing to say DBD has a rather "simplistic" formula. Which people can agree with. The problem is when you start comparing it with games that no one is even talking about.

I used to be a die hard fan of Friday the 13th and I was angry and sad when the lawsuit deal came out. I actually did not care for Dead by Daylight at that point, because I felt it didn't have some of the interesting aspects that Friday did. However, once I got to play it more, I understood why it was different and why it is addictive and fun, and apparently so do the 105,052 people that still play it.

  • I mean if anything I think you have proven with your post that DBD is actually the strongest out of that list. Because has simple as the formula is people still here and keep coming back for more. Not to mention out of all of those games, it's the one that has remained alive.

I have over 1k hours on Friday13th and even I can admit that once the game stopped creating content it was doomed. It was probably the one that came closest to creating competition for DBD because it had things that were different, not because it had "better" things.

At the end of the day, the one thing I agree with, and that is supporting comparing games especially when they are so different. Comparing content is meaningless if it has no one to cater to.

  • I hate to be the one to tell you OP, but if you want a decent chance at playing the game against face campers you will need to buy Laurie Strode and unlock Decisive Strike. Buy it when it is up in the Shrine.

OR hope someone has Borrowed Time. Against some killers (Bubba) and perks (Max StBFL stacks) no one is going to be able to pull you off hook… not with at least trading their own skin.

This game isn’t reasonable when it comes to that tactic because developers have accepted it as a “strat”.

    Good luck out there!

Nice anecdotal argumentation. I've had a lot of bad game as the Nurse, it means the Nurse is the weakest killer in the game. Also, yesterday I got 4k with the pig, so it proves the killer is OP.

It’s an opinion. Because not everyone has bad matches in soloQ, unless you disagree with that too?

Stop trying to troll. It’s not working.

When I say coordinate, I mean beyond a basic level that even most SWFs utilize. Not trying to move the goal posts, I just wasn't super clear. Solo queue players can certainly play smart, but they aren't going to be able to coordinate saves and resets in a coherent manner without perk slots.

Dude, even with Kindred they don’t know what to do!

I don’t know how much more “coherent” you can get than that.

  • @SilentShepherd said:

It's 4 bullies on discord, coordinating via voice chat to bully a lone player.

It's impossible for anyone to beat a good coordinated SWF group. They will communicate your location to each other and gen rush you. You can't even waste time chasing someone down, because as they loop you, he's telling the others where he is looping you, while they safely fix gens.

SWF should only be allowed in Custom matches. Go bully your friend Killer. Leave the general public out of your bullying,

The amount of likes this has is actually scary.

Then again we know the reputation these forums have and why.

  • @Thusly_Boned said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2613397#Comment_2613397

The advantages of a SWF goes way beyond coordinating gens. Being able to call out the killer's location, tell each other when they are being picked up/slugged, where traps are, etc. eliminates much of the killer's ability to deceive/strategize/game.

Four really good solo queue survivors is probably better than an SWF of 4 noobs, but the vast majority of the time a team with four man comms is just a massive advantage over any solo configurations.

It's not a massive advantage when you consider that communication also can hinder gameplay as well.

Simply calling out "killer is on me" doesn't mean anything and certainly isn't giving out an exact location much more than if I heard a heartbeat and was able to simply look around. Even from afar you can get an idea where the killer is, the only killers that could possibly get away with it are stealth ones. Hell even Kindred does a way better job because you are seeing the killer's aura in real time, rather than going by a teammate's coordinates.

I am just making a point that there are advantages but no where to the level that OP and others on these forums try to make SWF out to be.

  • I've had games where solo Q survivors knew how to spread out and left gens on opposites sides too.

    Untitled Image

SWF does not mean you get better players because you communicate, it just guarantees you have better players who aren't screwing you over.

  • I mean, just because you experience one thing does not mean others don't experience something different.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I wouldn't say it's necessarily because of camping and tunneling though. High level play requires coordination and solo queue can't really do that without sacrificing a ton of power in the form of perk slots. You need SWF to consistently beat high level killer players if they're running meta. The percentile of killer players still aren't losing games.

Contrary to popular belief, not every coordinated team is "swf". It is possible to coordinate in SoloQ as well, and sometimes even better because it forces you to be aware of your surroundings, unlike a player saying: "Killer is on me" because for a split second they saw the killer was on them when in fact the killer had already left them.

As an example, I just played against a Pyramid Head and there was an instance where, I started a gen while he was hooking a survivor nearby. To throw him off I left the gen and went in a certain direction. He went to look for me and around the gen, but I had already left. I was merely a distraction because I knew he had pop and other people were working on a gen that had more progression than mine. Whereas he thought I was told to leave the gen because there was nothing around to loop.

I went to watch the VOD (it was a streamer) and noticed that when he saw my scratch marks his first words were "they must be on comms", which I wasn't, none of us were. They were just very good survivors, and I could tell the moment one of them took a hit for me from the git go.

Moral of the story. Good coordinated survivors don't need comms to do what is necessary. They only need to become experienced and understand how the game works. Which is something that Solo Q survivors lack, even with aura perks.

Camping and tunneling is a result of SWF. Sadly, most things that are wrong with this game are due to SWF and the devs not taking it into consideration when building the game.

    Really?

Because even in soloQ killers are still camping and tunneling. This is the most ridiculous statement I have read.

Killers aren't Camping and Tunneling because people are in SWF, they do it because they can and it is a playstyle accepted by the developers.

Ace could do a card trick (imagine if he broke the fourth wall by shuffling a deck, pulling out a card while not looking at it having it face the camera [it being an Ace of course], then shuffle the deck again and pulls out the same card and shows it to us. Ace then smiles knowing he pulled it off), and/or flip a quarter and have satisfied look when he sees how it landed

Jake tries using a compass but it isn't working, looks up in the sky but there's neither a moon or sun, puts two sticks in the ground (a big one and a small one) but the substitute for stars (The Fog) is moving too inconsistently, lastly tries looking at trees but there's no moss. Jake has no idea where North is :c

Feng tries playing an EntertainmentGirl by Nontondoe but it's not working, tries replacing the batteries but it doesn't work, and even smacks the bottom but it doesn't work.

Ace with cards would be very fitting for him! xD

I'm just being frank. It's observable. I see stuff like this from BHVR all the time.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/LA5HMC46LXQM/screenshot-20211031-172336.png

I've never even heard of half these people, but they get into the fog whisperers and different events because they're BHVR'S token LGBT people, meanwhile people like Tru3 aren't upstanding enough for them.

    Dude what? lol

Im LGBTQ and none of Trickster’s content even grabs my attention (aside from some of his cosmetics) because I think his power looks boring and he looks more like survivor than a killer (to me).

Do you know what Korean pop stars look like? Most of them wear eyeliner, dye their hair and wear colorful clothing. Nothing to do with LGBTQ.

That would be like saying Trapper be trying to appeal and milk all the Blue collar workers. Since he is wearing overalls and boots.

  • Here is the thing you have to understand though.

You can’t blame people for complaining if they literally gut a killer’s overall design, if there is NOTHING to compensate for it. Like, what are they suppose to do? Not complain at all and just accept it? Nothing would change if that were the case. This goes for either side.

This is why I never liked the Hillbilly’s changes. His problem were his add ons NOT his base kit. The mere fact that they don’t even acknowledge makes people not appreciate the changes even where they made total sense. So just like with Deathslinger, why was there a need to change his TR? Because people didn’t like them bringing M&A? 😳 Oh no such a busted thing on a killer who cannot literally 4v1.

The problem is the killer’s design most of the time. It is the reason why killers like Trickster suck. You can’t buff them because they would go into overtune territory. Something that doesn’t apply to killers like Freddy and Spirit because they have more going for them.

The point is that just because some nerfs are “warranted” doesn’t mean that the killer wasn’t “gutted”. Especially when it has to do with their main power.

  • Freaking same.

It is my all time least favorite chapter. Don't care for the characters, the manager looks more like a killer than Trickster himself.

Me when my PC will not let me skip the All Kill intro

  • Description of the perk:

    “Dash forward to avoid damage”

    Killers:

”BuT ITs A FrEE GEt OuT of JaIL FRee caRD”

Yes it is. Technically it is. It is also in the description. That is how perks work.

  • @Unifall said:

Dead hard needs to be reworked. Its the only problematic perk atm that offers no downsides.

requiring to be injured is a huge downside.

Also, unlike every other exhaustion perk, the distance is very minimal.

So yeah, I’d say there are definitely downsides.

  • I mean any competent person knows that devs aren’t biased towards one side or the other.

This is something that this community (specifically the forum community) has perpetuated patch after patch.

  • I am looking forward to add VHS to my library, but I can guarantee you many of those streamers will still stick with DBD to some degree.

DBD is still a fun game to watch, and for some streamers it is the meat and potatoes of their content.

  • It can be frustrating at times.

Deep down I love the game not only because I enjoy it still, but also because I have met so many great friends through it.

  • @Laluzi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2607378#Comment_2607378

Nope. It's the same hit validation issue that you're seeing now with pallets and Dead Hard. Plague was always a window into the future.

    Thanks for letting me know!

I might try her out with her buff, but at least I know what to expect. It’s very annoying to hear them get infected, only to look at their icon and see no infection.

  • I used to be a Plague main when she came out but ever since her power was bugged (you puke on survivors and they cough but are never infected) I have been strictly a Michael main.

Do you know if that bug was fixed by chance?

  • I can’t speak for anyone else but some of the survivor perks like DS/UB/BT, since face-camping is still an accepted playstyle those perks will remain intact.

In order to shake the meta they would have to touch on some of the core mechanics, specifically with hooks and gens.

  • @zombitehdeath said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2597531#Comment_2597531

The perk was fine before the fix and many people have complained about how bs dead hard was. If it needed a fix why was is still used and why was there many people complaing about it?

It is the only perk that is the most efficient for those of us who like to take aggro and loop during a chase.

Yes even the people screaming “sigh exhausted on the ground” would still use it because it is the only exhaustion perk that is uniquely distinct while in a chase not because it was highly effective. It still worked in some instances.

My guess is that is also why it is predominantly seen, because being chased is one of the most fun aspects of the game. Some people like to hide and hold M1 and others like to expose themselves and enjoy getting chased.

  • I think you need to be careful in how you frame a question.

First off, you need to be able to separate how the perk is working mechanically vs what is intended. If the perk is doing something it isn't meant to do of course it is not ok, if the perk is doing something it is meant to do, it is ok. So in the case of a survivor vs Nemesis, the pallet should break, the survivor should remain injured, not down.

As avid Twins player, if I am using Victor and pounce on a survivor who successfully dead hards. Yes it is OK that the hit counts as a "miss" on my part. Just as much as it counts when someone uses Sprint Burst at the nick of time in order to avoid getting hit. The momentum he brings up has nothing to do with how hit validation is calculated.

They tried giving them more time...

    It got abused by survivors.

Nearly everything you can think up of has been tried and abused by survivors as they tried repeatedly to fix it.

So they tried punishing idle camping when every survivor held M1?

Because I don't see how survivors would abuse that idea.
