  • There is a level of camping that is unfair, I agree.

There is also a level of camping that is warranted.

The problem is that there is no measure to which one the (killer) player will pick. This not only solidifies the current meta (BT/DS) but also further shows that they have no intentions on changing it.

Yeah yeah, I know they "tried it before and it didn't work out". My only argument to that is, why stop there? They could have at the very least allowed players who are holding M1 (3 remaining survivors) given more time, if the killer is actively idling at the hook with no other bodies around. That would have been a start.

I still characterize what you're doing in pushing that narrative of "see you in a week" as dishonest, but with your added perspective I'm not taking it as deliberate. Maybe even 'lazy and dismissive' rather than a lie. It's also not just you - you're just the latest, and more articulate than the rest.

I'm currently in communities of people who actually quit and people who're boycotting. I've known people who left and haven't come back yet for past issues too.

The big recent trend in these is airing laundry lists of grievances which, let's be honest, are usually legitimate, even if some are subjective like not clicking with a new system or where to draw the line when it comes to corporate accountability. I don't see how one can sincerely take that trend as a bad thing - especially in a game most people seem to love to hate/hate to love in equal measure.

You can look at it as however you want. You think the narrative is dishonest based on your own opinion. I see it as "If it has no substance, it is just another player complaining". Maybe you like to read those type of threads and maybe participate in them as well, I don't know? It is not for me to judge you.

The problem isn't just the narrative part, it is also the lack of information people lack and attempt to spread because they themselves saw a problem with the game. If I was a new person reading this OP, I would think all totem perks on killer side are just basically a waste (because of boon totems), which is not true. (For reasons I have explained in an earlier post).

I take any kind of trend where there is more complaining/bashing for the sake of making something trend, a bad thing. I've been both actively defending (where I saw my opinion fit), and also actively not defending BHVR where I thought they were wrong. As many of us have been. You can still have that and not fall into the trend of announcing your departure, because that doesn't do anything for me when it comes to taking your "feedback" serious.

Where, then, are you extrapolating that people aren't successful in leaving the game?

You've given the same ham-fisted reply to a few "I quit" posts, and there's people who mirror your sentiments.

I'm probably coming off as aggressive here, but I genuinely want to know where what I see as a self-soothing delusion comes from. The forum isn't the game, and people in threads you posted (and others) said they're sticking around the forums due to friendships they made here. Is that so hard to believe, especially in a forum with pretty active off-topic sections by comparison?

Some of us have seen players express their disinterest in the game by complaining and bashing it. Some of us have also seen those players say that they have quit the game via a comment or a thread of their own. Only to see them emerge back to trash-talk the game once again.

It is why at this point these threads alone have become a meme at best. They have no substance, nobody knows who the player is, just another person complaining.

You are not coming off aggressive, but you weren't coming off genuine at all... not when you start to attack someone's character. Especially when you do not even know them at all. That's not a great start when you want someone to present to you what you are asking for.

I am certainly not going to to dig through every single thread I have read just to find the proof that you feel you need. I am also not asking you to take my word for it. Though as I said, once you hang around the forums even as just lurking. You recognize names and it is probably the reason why many people are met with "see you in a week". Because they themselves have also seen what I am talking about.

There is also a very big difference in saying goodbye to your friends, and also trashing the game that you so "hate" in that same thread with (again) zero substance.

I'm accusing you of peddling a narrative which has no evidence - that people aren't sticking to their guns when they quit.

You failed to produce receipts, and I have done my homework: what you claim isn't actually common, at least as far as any evidence on these forums show.

I'm calling you dishonest, because you're overtly lying.

Some of the people who I will not name (for name and shame purposes) have said themselves that they dwell on the forums while not playing the game.

Call me dishonest all you want, I could honestly care less. You don't even know me.

  • @ElusivePukka said:

Yeah, these threads are a thing.

Now show me where they returned, or admit you're just being dishonest.

Again. Do your homework, I am not going to do it again for you.

You accuse me of "making" the fact that these are frequent and I show you receipts. Now you don't even acknowledge the fact that you were wrong, because you call someone "dishonest" without having the facts.

Sorry I am not your secretary, you can do research on your own.

  • Thank you OP.

There is a few of us that play killer that have bigger problems with Sprint Burst. Only thing is SB isn't great during a chase, so it is less talked about. Let SB become more frequent and I can 100% bet you they would complain about that one too.

Some players on here just get annoyed by exhaustion perks, period. Mostly because they don't know how to play around them.

Where are the slew of people returning to the game after declarations they're leaving, besides in your imagination?

I keep seeing people tout this inane idea, but have yet to see anyone do as people like you claim. I am, at this point, convinced it's a narrative you people just made up to cope with a lack of personal principles.

Yep all a 'figment of my imagination'. 🙄

someone who has been actively playing the game for over a year now and just now got tired of it, i guess what i have to say doesnt matter.

The way you frame your post I can't tell you have been playing for that long. Regardless, what you do is what many have already been doing... Crying "I quit" followed by false claims by not understanding the game that you so claim you've played for a length of time.

How did the new totems screw totem perks? If you're interacting with a hex long enough to create a boon, you very likely would've been able to just cleanse the hex without the boon. So in essence, it is the same thing as cleansing your totem, except it takes longer (14 seconds vs 24 seconds). Not only that but the effects of the Hex still works.

Because i like the game overall and possible discussions around it, i dont like playing it right now.

How comes i get a warning for saying "shut up" but you get away with extreme passive agressiveness?

Which part of what I said was passive aggressive? In fact, quite the opposite actually. If you claim to quit a game but still linger around because in reality we all know it was just a cry for attention.... THAT is very passive aggressive.

Many of us take breaks and don't feel the need to announce it. I took a break for a month and just came back for the Halloween event. I guess I missed my opportunity to say goodbye to everyone for a month.

I don't see why my tentacle hit shouldn't break a pallet if I hit you at a downed pallet and it "missed" you due to dead hard. Doesn't the pallet normally break if I miss you there? Oddly, it doesn't if you dead hard and I get validated. Very fair.

Yeah I agree, if Dead Hard is used, it should break the pallet not down a survivor.

    Very different things being discussed.

  • Yes it’s fine.

I’ve gathered that pretty much only players who get annoyed by it think otherwise.

Annoyance is not a valid reason to think something is unbalanced.

  • But hey DC penalties are back on, on a very stable game!

    QUALITY A+ gaming experience.

  • So taking the childish route aren't we?

Making all those killers "pay" for the toxicity of one. 🤣

You know the game is gonna die if people stop complaining, that means nobody even gives a ######### at that point

Feedback on a game you don't play. Gotcha.

Feedback usually comes from people who actually actively play the game, not someone who just wants to whine and complain.

Instead of wasting time talking about a game that you no longer play?

  • Nope, I've seen the same handful of people trash talking the game while they talk about how they are taking a "break".

Like, when people quit a game, they usually move on to something else. Let alone stay in that game's forums.

  • Go join the rest of the "I quit" players that for some reason still linger around the forums for some unexplained reason.

Okay, but most here are not having fun by what I'm reading.

    Ok?

The forums aren't the entirety of the DBD community. Most certainly not the killer community either.

Some of the comments I don't even take serious because they are filled with biased opinions. Like "You are not suppose to have fun only survivors have fun". Sounds like such a dumb statement.

  • I mean some of us are having fun at high MMR.

PVE games might be more your thing.

  • Change the way it procs. That’s all people are asking for.

It doesn’t make sense that a killer can virtually afk and get it to proc via the survivor’s main objective.

No Ed has a counter already. I don’t think it needs any more counters.

  • Trickster.

For me he does not fit in this game. Looks too much like a survivor and also his power was not very well thought out IMO.

  • I haven’t played much with them because I have been taking small breaks from this game.

I did experience it for the first time the other night (CoH) and I did not feel it was that helpful. It felt very situational because of the location of the totem next to gens. Where the killer kept passing through, and seemingly did not care that the totem was right in front of him.

I realize this is only a single experience with it, but I personally didn’t feel like it affected our match that much.

I genuinely don't know how they would fix the scream after validation thing though, would they have to make survivors scream like a second later than usual all the time in order for validation to have time to work?

I don’t have the answer to that either, but I do recognize it looks bad.

Imagine a new player hitting someone and hearing the scream and then see then run like nothing happened? I for one would think it was a bug or they were cheating. It’s not a good look for BHVR. Which is why I think they should be the ones actively answering these questions.

  • I think it’s quite hilarious how much players care about who gets robbed now, but they cared so little back when it was the other way around. If nothing else shows your bias, that certainly does.

I have literally had many matches previously where I was exhausted on the ground and you know what the killer told me to do? Sucks to be you and to “stop bringing the perk”. I don’t except sympathy, but come on now. Don’t act like survivors did this.

The design for this perk clearly does not work well with dedicated servers. Because it seems to me that in P2P neither party had issues.

So, I am not saying that the screaming after a swing should stay, and I’m certainly not going to tell you killer players that it “sucks to be you”. But for the love of god stop trying to make this into a us vs them moment when YOU know the perk didn’t work as intended before. Only difference is you saw a body sliding down forward with an exhaustion icon on their end.

It is hard to outplay. If it weren't effective, 3/4 survivors in every lobby I play would not run it. Even if you know they have it, you still have to respect it. Lotta survivors know you're baiting it out and hold onto it.

It might be hard to outplay for you and a handful of other people on this site.

Most good killers have no issue with Dead Hard.

  • @JPA said:

Yeah I just had a match where I hit someone, they screamed, then they dead harded away and didn't go down. So they've basically just moved the problem to be a 50-50 issue now?

Considering Killers have to deal with it more often (assume at least 2 people have DH per game, if you hook them 3x that is an average of 6 occurences of playing around DH per game), I don't think it was that bad an idea to have it validated on the Killer side. If you're tired of being exhausted on the ground, you can also dead hard earlier rather than being as greedy as possible with it.

Not everyone who uses DH is greedy about it, and actually if you do get greedy (meaning you timed it late), you will still hit the floor.

Which is the way it was always meant to work.

  • @BenihimeWrath said:

Okay, not gonna lie, it looks like sometimes they were hit after the dead hard completed

The survivors were always meant to be immune to any damage at pallets and at will with dead hard, even if they time it wrong and actually get hit before they activate the perks? Mmmkay.

Is it survivors timing Dead Hard wrong or just a hit validation problem?

Because you realize that is why it got fixed right?

  • @Junylar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2592855#Comment_2592855

You can't compare hatch nerf with virtual immunity at pallets and with dead hard survivors now have. They added survivors a third health state.

You mean the way it was always meant to work? But since the release of dedicated servers it hasn't?

  • I bet you weren’t complaining when your hits shouldn’t have hit when they used DH, but they did anyway.

  • @Nathan13 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2588855#Comment_2588855

I mean they had to nerf keys to the ground because they allowed too many cheap escapes after things were going in the killers favor. And Peanits mentioned there will be more key changes coming down the road.

Ok? And I don't think anyone is arguing that those escapes didn't require much skill.

The point I am trying to make is that the keys were and are still VERY common in the bloodweb. That is a problem in and of itself. We shouldn't feel like they are easily obtainable, and they would have felt that they were more of a 'luck' thing. That's why as killer I didn't mind if anyone happen to find a key in a chest (as an example).

The other issue I am pointing out has to do with the way BHVR often deals with nerfs. They would rather nerf something to the ground rather than use their creative powers to make something feel unique, all in the name of "balance". Just look at Deathslinger's nerf and other things they have nerfed that are a more crippled version of what there was before but without much substance.

Escaping through hatch wasn't the issue, the issue is how survivors got to escape through hatch and how easy it was that was the problem. I am fairly certain that if there was more of a challenge involved in the process of escaping through hatch. People wouldn't have a problem with it.

  • The devs would rather nerf something to the ground, rather than changing the mechanic in a way that is more fun and interactive.

I would have started with the frequency in which we get keys on the bloodweb. So they are pretty much rare where someone would feel like “hey finally found a key!” Rather than “I’ve got 50 keys already I dunno what to do with them”…

  • Just because people think they are unfair doesn't make them true.

So far numbers-wise there is no indication that the player numbers are declining so I wouldn't put too much faith in the thought that it's "dying".

  • @drakolyr said:

90% of the charms are boring.

I dont use them, most of them are ugly, or you have multiple versions.

It should have way more skins in the battlebass, than charms.

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

I feel like, in the beginning charms sounded like a cool idea, but now they are just…there. They feel like fillers to the RIFT track, rather than something you’d wanna wear.

IMO they should have made accessories in general. Backpacks, scarfs, 2 versions of same hair released for a survivor being featured, accessories that maybe make sense with the outfit that are being featured through that track.

    There are so many ideas.

  • You can be grateful but also not lose sight of the fact that they are also a company. As such they are bound to be held accountable and receive feedback good and bad.

Much of the criticism BHVR has received has been developing over the years, it’s not like one day players woke up and decided to just complain. Many which have been here since the start.

I am also not blind to the fact that they do update their game a lot. However it seems to come at the price of crashes and disconnects, which makes it kind of hard to appreciate the good when it’s overshadowed by the game being unstable (as an example).

  • @Nayru said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2583719#Comment_2583719

okay but some of these maps pretty much play themselves with a bunch of high-end tiles in a chain and the game being mostly over in one chase, that tends to be the root issue behind people's issue with massive chase extenders

that and the killers that end chases very quickly or don't respect chasing/looping itself getting axed over and over

Even if I were to believe you (seeing as I have never had my games almost done in one chase) that isn’t an exhaustion perk problem, that sounds like a map problem.

Part of learning killer is understanding maps and tiles. If you know someone is running you for what seems like too long break chase.

You have to in order to pressure the rest of the survivors. I have seen so many killers chase one person, walk by a gen being worked on and not even bother to kick that gen/injure that survivor. It’s baffling.

Im not saying there aren’t strong loops but there is no loop that will cost you the game unless you never brake chase.

  • Imagine complaining about perks that strengthen the very core of the game for survivors which is chases.

Here is an idea, sure they can get rid of exhaustion perks when they introduce rifles, dual guns and bats. When survivors can properly defend themselves by being able to fight back.

No more than extending chases. Then you can go ahead and get rid of these “meta” perks.

  • If they bother you that they are 99'd then Open them yourself. You have the ability to do that.

If you complain about having to do that and losing pressure, then that's where you have to make a choice. The same choice the survivor HAD to make in order to buy more time for their teammate who is getting camped.

    This game is about choices.

  • I mean, it never was?

The game is about killing survivors not protecting gens. Protecting gens is not the same as causing pressure by patrolling gens.

  • There is.

You have to learn to separate it though. Whether it's balancing or company decisions... some concerns are legit, while others are just straight up bait/troll posts.

It's like when you are looking through fruit at the supermarket, and you have to skim through the good ones vs the ones that are on the verge of rotting.

  • Not everybody said they were trying to change DBD's numbers, just the company's actions and choices. I don't think anyone wants the game to hurt.

However, If no one had voiced their concerns and they didn't think it was at the very least "heard", BHVR wouldn't have posted about it on their twitter, and no changes would ever happen.

  • In a perfect world we wouldn’t have to deal with messages like that.

There are too many other interactions you are missing out on because you give energy to these people. I know sometimes it’s hard to just look the other way because you wanna get to the bottom of something or whatever the reason may be.

However, You have to stay focused on who YOU are and what kind of person you are. These people do not determine that, only you and your actions do.

Trust me I’ve had my fair share of encounters , some that were embarrassing and I can’t believe I let them get to me, and others where I just simply tried to be as rational as I could and even that didn’t help.

Nothing justifies their behavior, and to me many of these people are just looking for an audience. So anytime you engage just remind yourself you are giving them exactly what they want.

I know you’re on a different platform, from what I have gathered and it sucks that they do this when all you wanna do is enjoy the game, but my advice is to just ignore them to the best of your ability.

  • I’d suggest maybe you should wake up and start reading their own tweets before you type something. They explicitly said “We’ve been working with *insert NFT company* for months”.

  • Out of all the people who aren’t in support, which one of them told you, you don’t have a right to support them?

Also, other people love this game just as much if not more than you. Which is why it is so upsetting to some of them.

Sounds like you are the one who needs to chill your grill.

  • I don’t think I’ve ever used that meme but thank you for the warning?

We’re talking about DBD here not a specific meme.

  • I mean, I don’t see anyone panicking. I do see people expressing their feelings about the company to their favorite game being associated with another company selling NFTs, and outright supporting it.

People have a right to voice their opinions/concerns. Especially if this is signaling a path to what it is OK with BHVR vs what is not.

I remember when I was one of the people who said this whole thing sounded like a scam and telling people to stop panicking, yet here we are. 🤷‍♂️ I for one would have never bought pinhead’s dlc had I known that this is what was going on behind the scenes.

  • I mean, the other licensed chapters haven’t dealt with this BS. (Michael, Pig, Freddy)

So why would we get ahead of ourselves into thinking every chapter from here on out will have NFTs attached to them?

If anything my hope is that BHVR will stay the hell away from associating themselves with companies who use these practices.
