I don't think old undying was good, theoretically. It would only have Synergy with Ruin. Wraith all-seeing blood nerf was fair imo, idk about the lunge speed boost. I've only been following for a year and so far i think their balance changes are justified.
It's not about it being good. It was changed due to complaints. Within months; and I'm not talking about Wraith's addons. His BASE KIT was nerfed. Because of complaints. Zero justification for that beyond survivors just not wanting to adapt. My point is, you're wrong in your assessment that they don't nerf things due to knee-jerk complaints.

Ngl expecting people to complain about a status effect that shouldnt affect you that much anyways is a little petty
Petty doesn't mean what you think it means.
The word you're looking for is "cynical".

Something needs to be done about survivors ability to dead hard.

I don't think it'll be nerfed at all. For as long as i've been following things BHVR haven't impulsively nerfed things based on complaints, i think they have learned and grown out of this.
Yes they do.
Undying. Wraith. Hillbilly. Exhaustion addons for Clown, Huntress etc.
I could go on.
-
@Brimp said:
The only people that will really complain about it are the ones that 99 their heal with resilience so they just get a perma 9% faster gen repair speed. Now they can't really do that against killers with sloppy or hemorrhage addons.
I thought that about Undying as well. Plenty of counters to that. Perks, maps, items etc. Still got nerfed within 5 months.
Also, hello Brimpy.

Killer issues. So they'll leave it enabled. Because killers don't matter.

Sorry you're so triggered by this. Fortunately it actually has zero effect on you if you don't like it!
Not really triggered. Don't try to spin it that way. I'll shut that down real quick.
I just see it as such a low effort way of representing.
-
Cool?
As a fellow gay person myself, here's the part where I don't really care. shrug lol
Ohhhh they retroactively made a character gay. Big POG. It took them YEARS to do that. But yes, let's give them all the praise in the world, for taking this long, do to something as important as representation, and half-assing it like normal.

The problem is always with the survivors, with you.
I mean, 33 killers to 4000+ survivors at one point in the last month speaks for itself.

Yes, my comment was about what you were getting at.
Killer powers should have limitations, this much is obvious. A limitation designed to dissuade, but not outright prevent, uninteractive gameplay is a very reasonable limitation, this much is also obvious.
It's not a punishment, nor is a second chance perk a "reward" either.
A second chance perk absolutely is a reward for failure.

What a stunningly unhelpful and limiting way to view game design.
I was very obviously being facetious. But like, it's not untrue. The things I mentioned are actual things in the game.
-
@jesterkind said:
I'd argue that the cooldown after downing someone with Victor is quite necessary to prevent promoting slugging too hard. The problem is that it actually ends up causing slugging more often because you have to commit to the three thousand year waiting period before you can do anything again.
The solution isn't to remove that cooldown, though; it's to let the Twins player swap back to Charlotte during it.
In a game where survivors are rewarded for bad plays (because that's when all their second chances activate, and hatch exists), it only makes sense for killers to be punished for getting a successful hit.
-
@Bwsted said:
The argument is the how much it rewards, not that it rewards.
Perks are meant as enhancements barring meme cases like no mither. So, the fact that it rewards a good, bad, or no play even, is effectively not an argument in itself.
Noed is a cover-all because it counters its counters. Slowdown and snowball. It's a lose-lose for the survivors who might be still get hit by it if they miss a single totem and wasted time. So, it's not even true the user only has 3 perks until emdgame. It also ensures 2k min by just standing in front of your first down because it's either gens or bones against a facecamp. Truly a design fiasco.
It's a divisive topic, but also a moot one. Unless a certain dev who use it permanently suddenly decides it needs changes because it messed with him Huntress' Lullaby style. Otherwise, noed won't be touched. And all these discussions will be nothing but an exercise in futility.
If NOED nets you more the one hook as killer, the survivors were trash. Period.

I don't do it unless you manage to really annoy me.
I won't begrudge someone else doing it though when I play survivor.
The only thing that gets on my grapes is the weird current trend of killers running Knockout and literally just slugging everyone at 5 gens to bleed them out.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2920310#Comment_2920310
Agreed. If you slug tactically, that's entirely fine.
I'm not sure if the OP is talking about this, or the aforementioned Knockout griefers.
Not tactically. All slugging is fine.
-
@Pulsar said:
It's literally fine.
Nobody begrudges Survivors for trying to escape thru hatch or for trying to finish all the gens.
The Killer is allowed to win.
Only correct answer^
Also, it's called the "pity door". Not the hatch.
You don't earn hatch escapes. They're given to you, for free.

I've been playing this game since the release of Freddy. What date that was, i have no idea because I don't care enough to keep track.
I don't watch Dev streams or pay much attention to the behind-the-scenes aspects of the games which is why I asked you to provide a quote of when such a statement was made. You can kindly sit down and get off your arrogant high horse assuming you're all knowledgeable and assuming I'm new.
It's not arrogance if I'm right.
Sit.

I play on Steam so that sadly doesn't help me.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2920980#Comment_2920980
According to who? Where are you getting this info from that the Devs intentionally want killers to know who they've played against before so they can change their playstyle? Because without a quoted source from a Dev, you're literally blowing smoke our your you know what. Show me a quote.
And again, I would still go with the fact that it's logical and fair that if killers are able to adapt to the PLAYER (not any in game factors) then the survivors should be able to do so as well.
Back when the game came out, survivors had this info. They abused it. Now they don't. Devs literally said, back in 2016, killers have this info as a means to prepare and create a strategy. All you've confirmed here is you're newer to the game.
Kindly sit down, and stop engaging in a debate you're not knowledgeable enough to speak on.

It is sure that you have a better reflection.
"Agree to get crushed every game because, you know, we are sad, us killers :("
Go on, you'll find oil soon.
I mean, when killers don't play Nurse or Blight, on most maps, it's more than likely they'll get crushed every game. Unless they camp and tunnel their way to a win, which is another argument all together.
You seem to be under the impression that you can win this argument. You can't.
-
@Rokjer said:
We know the song.
Why do you think you only have SWF ? SoloQ is even worse than the Killers situation. So, yeah, sorry. When you can only play an hour from time to time and you only meet Nurses, who moreover use add-ons bordering on doping, don't come and tell me that I have to pity the killers.
That's not the fault of Nurse, or the killer player. Look at the devs, ask them to balance more killers to make them more enjoyable to play at high MMR, and you'll see less Nurse. Nerf Nurse or any of her addons, and you'll just end up without killers.
You lack forethought and coherent logic.

Idk who "everyone" is and i missed the last thread but this is actually a good idea and one that I've been in support of for years.
Killers should not have information on who the player is before the match, only what survivor is being played, what they're wearing, and what item they're bringing in.
If you wish to argue that killers should have this info to avoid cheaters, then it's logical to come to the conclusion that survivors should be given the killer's name for the same reason.
Incorrect. Killer having this information is intentional. It's meant to allow them to plan a strategy. If they go against the same group twice, there's no reason the killer shouldn't have the chance to create a different strategy, or dodge. I don't care about cheaters.
-
@Rokjer said:
So, we have to eat 10 Nurses in a row in Solo Q who almost all abuse an abusive modification on the speed of the TP (the killer is not strong enough at base, I suppose), but we have to pity the killers ?
Very funny.
Using an addon is abusive now, apparently.
Try and ask yourself why there's 10 Nurses in a row? Nobody is pitying killers. That's the entire reason there's 10 Nurses in a row.
Also, the killer doesn't know if they're going against solo Q or SWF. So that's not an excuse.
-
You made one thread about this already. Everyone disagreed. So your plan is to make another one and hope the outcome changes? K

Sounds like a one-sided story, honestly. I'd like to hear their POV.

@Nos37 said:
In the lobby, for killer, hide survivor names and replace the survivors with silhouettes of their chosen character. The killer can still see which survivors and items they bring, but cannot tell exactly who it is by name or cosmetics.
The ability for the killer to see what they are up against is INTENTIONAL. It allows for strategy and planning, which killers NEED.
Stop asking for your already unbelievably easy survivor matches to be even easier.

It's purple that you have to look at. The issue with this add-on has still not been resolved.
There is no issue with the addon. Because Omega Blink isn't a thing in the game anymore. It hasn't been since 2019 when Nurse was reworked. It's like people complaining about "instasaw" before they chopped off Hillbilly's testicles, when they didn't know what real instasaw was.
However, if Omega Blink WAS still a thing, it would require BOTH range addons. Not just the purple one; and even then, it's not omega blink. We need to stop nerfing killers. There's already a killer shortage and killers don't need nerfs.
-
@Nos37 said:
If the killer gets to know that they are facing a previous opponent again, give the survivor the same courtesy. Give survivors a prompt telling them.
No. It's 4v1.
-
Hatch escapes SHOULDN'T change MMR. We don't call it the "pity door" for nothing; and that's exactly what it is. Just another second chance.
-
Omega Blink doesn't exist anymore.
You can always tell when someone is new when they call THIS omega blink. KEKW
-
The answer is: Survivors.
-
Yes. Survivor queue times are astronomical at peak times as it is. There was even a point where there were over 4000 survivors and only 33 killers in queue (on steam alone). Let's nerf another killer. Solid plan.
If they nerf Nurse before they nerf exhaustion into the ground, it'll only get worse for survivor queue times.

Idea: A person is not bad at the game because they chose Dead Hard, it is a powerful tool used to combat powerful killers. Dead Hard indeed requires skill to use, as we all know how foolish someone looks when they use Dead Hard poorly.
Rather, Dead Hard should be adjusted so that every survivor taking this perk has less of a dramatic impact on matches at the higher levels of skill.
Fact: If the only reason they aren't down is because of a Dead Hard, they are effectively worse at the game than the survivor who runs a killer without it.

@KnightofAllen said:
Is it just me or did they remove hit validation? Since a few days dh doesn't work in 7/10 cases. Have they changed something or is it maybe my ping, the killers ping or did I messed up?
Has anyone experienced something similar?
Idea: Get better at the game, and learn from your mistakes instead of relying on Dead Hard.

I think that slinger and spirit needed to be nerfed. Also DS, object, COH needed it and dead hard and iron will still do.
Slinger needed a rework, not a nerf. He wasn't even a strong killer. Nerfs are for strong killers.
Meanwhile, the entire survivor meta has remained unchanged and full of busted perks for years...barely been touched.
-
It was never the healing rate that was the issue. The problem with CoH is the same problem every boon has. It's not what it does. It's what it offers.
If there was a limit to how much it could be used, like, making it so a totem could only be booned once, it would be a lot better. Killers take exception to it in it's current form because they can't A) destroy the boon, but only snuff it out leaving the same totem boonable again, and B) When a killer's totem is cleansed, it's gone. They can't get it back. Survivors can just keep booning and booning, and killers can't do ######### about it.
-
Remember, people who thought Slinger needed to be nerfed also think Dead Hard is skillful.
-
@Munqaxus said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/318399/dead-hard-nerf-when-it-ruins-this-game
A nerf to a perk that is used by 50% of the survivors while the average kill rate is hovering slight above 50% would require a massive nerf to all killers to balance out the massive change in the kill rate.
I don't use Dead Hard but, when you are talking about game balance, that perk is a corner stone perk of 50% of survivor builds.
Dead Hard is in the top 3 most used survivor perks. 50%? Your math is incorrect.
-
@WeenieDog said:
Real talk though. I don't think DH would be such a problem if maps weren't as bad they are. Map and tile layout have been ruining the game since day 1.
A free third health state and distance as a reward for failure is always a big deal. Too much value.
OG Undying was gutted after 5 months, while Dead Hard has existed in it's current state for years...and Undying wasn't even as strong. Survivors were just lazy.

Let me ask you this - if I chased you off a 99'd generator, are you going to go across the map and start a new gen?
Your first post
You also know "chasing off a generator" means I'm chasing someone, correct? 10k hour player here, bud. This is common lingo.
-
10k hour player here. I consider myself a killer main, but honestly, 75% of my time is likely survivor.
Dead Hard is the best perk in the game. This isn't even a matter of opinion. You're just flat out wrong.

"If I chase the survivor off the gen, and am chasing your teammate".
I said that, literally twice. Are you good?

@I_am_Negan said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2899590#Comment_2899590
Yes I would go across the map to work on a new one
1) You won't leave the area and the gen is going to regress.
2) Their is more then likely another survivor in the area that would keep you busy and try to finish the 99 gen.
If you're going to sit there and tell me that after I chase your teammate off a 99'd generator, and I'm chasing your teammate, you're going to start a NEW gen, and not going to go finish the gen in 2 seconds, I'm going to call you a liar.
-
If I see an opportunity to get an upper hand, I take it. Whether that be by camping, or tunneling.
The fact is, camping only works because survivors allow it to work, and complaining that killers tunnel is the same as complaining that survivors do gens.
Let me ask you this - if I chased you off a 99'd generator, are you going to go across the map and start a new gen? That's a rhetorical question. I already know the answer is "no", as it should be. Why would you go work on a new gen when this one is almost done? Why would I chase a healthy survivor when the injured one, who is closer to death (which is my objective) is right there? It's called strategy.
In no way do I feel "scummy", nor IS it scummy. Camping and tunneling are as legitimate as doing generators in terms of strategy.
-
If you have a phobia of a character in the game, I suggest playing a different game.
-
Imagine thinking BHVR takes feedback.
If they took feedback, there wouldn't be an MMR in a game dictated largely by RNG.
