The counter play to ds is actually pretty simple. Dont tunnel. There are 4 survivors, spread the pain and ds cant get you.
Not saying ds cant be abused but its very rare as long as you dont tunnel
"Don't tunnel" isn't a counter. Go play killer, learn how it works, then come up with a better solution.
Sometimes you have no choice, and under no circumstances should DS be active and the survivor be allowed to progress the game forward by doing their objective. Period.

It can be 1 gen done each minute. I'd say the cut-off time where it stops being gen rush is, say, 5 gens in 7 minutes. I say that because chases are like 20-30 seconds minimum. But then there's also stuff like the game lasting longer, but the last 2 or 3 gens all pop within 45 seconds. If at least 1 person is on a gen at any time, it's pretty easy to pull off gen rush. You could also call it gen rush if you have stuff like Corrupt or Ruin and the gen speed is just as quick as without those perks.
That's not genrushing. That's just you not applying any map pressure.
Genrushing has one meaning, and one meaning only. All survivors, split on seperate gens, from the very beginning, and 2-3 gens popping by the time you down your first survivor. That is a genrush. Survivors "doing gens fast" is not genrushing. They're just doing their only objective because the killer isn't pressuring them off generators.
So yes, this is a question of your skill, and also your knowledge on the game itself.

Sounds to me like you are not very good at the game and blame the killer playing “cheap” for your losses.
Look at their post history.
Almost looks like a history of nothing but bait.

I'm personally tired of survivors who I could have tunneled, but literally let live, thinking of themselves as good when they are alive because I allowed them to be alive.
Coin goes both ways.

I never said that. I go against top % sometimes, and other times they're not that good but they carried by gen rush. Never said I go against that all the time, especially since my post is about lobby dodging those teams.
What is "genrushing" to you?

This is not a question of my skill, like everyone makes it out to be. I get to rank 1 every season. I stay there, even with joke killers like Trapper. But there are some games I experience, at least a few times a day, that no player aside from a strong Nurse or Spirit could ever win. Maybe I could have won if I'd gone for the 4-man slug from start to finish, but how am I supposed to know ahead of time that's what's required?
Maybe I just play too fair for my own good. I hate getting hit by DS so I usually don't tunnel, but that's not good enough apparently because I can't stop the gens then. And there's no defending the gens with a low tier killer. Use Pop, Ruin, Corrupt or whatever you'd like, and SWF will blow through gens like your perks aren't even there. And people make it sound so easy when they say "Find the weak link." The weak link, in actual matches, never simply present themselves to you, and are usually carried by meta perks anyway.
So, I often find that my losses are due to things completely beyond my control, and that's the case when most red rank killers lose. Can I improve? Sure, but not by much. The game simply isn't balanced for good killers to win like they should. It's balanced around clueless, casual survivors who buy the game and drop it after 3 months.
I'll stop you at the "this is not a question of my skill" statement; because that's exactly what this is.
You LITERALLY are trying to say that all you get are 4 man death squads. That's literally what you're saying, and you're trying to pawn it off as your reason for losing games against 4 man SWFs, when it's not. This is absolutely a question of your skill.

There was a video floating around on the subreddit, and the killers alliance discord server about not changing keys, but changing how hatch spawns. Not sure how to post videos here, otherwise I'd post it, but it was the best idea I had seen so far IMHO

Remember 2016 DBD? THAT'S why survivors are getting nerf after nerf after nerf. Survivors started as ######### gods, and are still too powerful. 3 gens can get done by the time the first chase is over, and this is EXCLUDING looping. Furthermore, Killer is 100x more stressful than survivor, so Killers tend to get more frustrated/stressed; Killers see alot more of the game than the average survivor, so they have alot more stimuli to have to suffer from; Killers kind of feel neglected in certain cases, such as our complaints about DS, Unbreakable, Dead Hard, etc.
Not to say Survivor is a breeze. Survivors definitely need some compensation, but the fact of the matter is that Killer players have alot more to ######### about (and rightfully so) the higher you get on the ladder than survivors. Lower rank survivors have as much to ######### about as (proper) red rank Killers.
Also, alot of the things that were nerfed into the ground on the survivor side should have never been a thing, like instaheals, ######### pallet vacuums, and old toolboxes.
That last paragraph - is why I call them "fixes" and not "nerfs". To me, a nerf is something that was a bit too much, and was cut down to size. A fix, like literally everything that has been nerfed on the survivor side to data, are things that were completely broken, and were corrected.

Must be nice. Sounds like all you get are the boosted ones, whereas mine don't want to lose.
So basically, you're sitting here telling us that all you get are Seal-Team-6, 4-Man SWF death squads?
Okay there, bud. We call this "DSPGaming" syndrome. Where the person suffering it blames a loss in a game on everything and everyone else rather than their own skill, or lackthereof.
To be straight up - it is LITERALLY impossible that you, somehow, are the only one on planet earth being matchmade with that 1% of the community 100% of the time. Literally impossible.

Well you can only play so well against SWF. They're capitalizing on every right or wrong move you make, whether you like it or not. You can go into specifics about countering SWF, but all it really boils down to is "Play harder". And I play my hardest regardless, and when that's not enough and I lose I get pissed off. I'm not going to waste my time getting pissed off, because I'd much rather have fun while I'm playing this game.
Just stop - all you're attempting to do is create excuses for your loss.
99% of SWFs, even 4 mans, are LITERALLY just shooting the proverbial ######### with their friends. They aren't 4 man death squads. I'm not saying those squads don't exist, cause they do, and it's literally 1 out of every 40 to 50 games. Unless somehow, you're being funneled all the death squads via matchmaking (which you're not, by the way).
If you are playing your "hardest", and all you can come up with is "well they must be SWF, that's why I'm losing" when other killers are mopping the floor with SWF squads literally every minute the game exists, the issue isn't the SWF squads you're facing. The issue is you. Period.
You really do just need to get better at the video game.

Killers complain because their only win is 4k. A survivor escaping while his teammates died will be a happy player. A killer 3k ing because a survivor escaped through hatch will say that hatch is unfair and start his ranting.
Give them an inch and they'll take a mile
Most killers will accept a 3 man as a win, because it is. They accomplished more of their objective than survivors did.
As for "giving an inch, taking a mile"...clearly you have very little experience playing killer. Don't pose and act like you do, cause with that kind of attitude, you'd be lying. Straight up.
It's KILLERS who are expected to not run X build, not use X tactic, not do this, not do that, to make sure SURVIVORS have fun. Then survivors t-bag at the exit gate because they think they outplayed the killer, when in reality, the killer, to be nice, didn't slug everyone at 5 gens and tunnel someone out of the game, when they usually, EASILY, could have. THAT is giving an inch, and taking a mile, and more times than not, it's survivors taking the mile.

Ah, so you want to play against a 4-man SWF at rank 1? Be my guest.
I do it all the time. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose. I mostly win. Stop acting like SWF's are the reason you lose. More times than not, it's because you didn't play well.

The reason it's called small pp build is because it isn't ever used defensively. It never is used to punish the killer for slugging or tunneling, but rather used to say " I have 60 seconds on this generator where if you slug me I get right back up and keep working or you grab me and get stunned and looped more"
There's no counterplay to it and that's the issue
EXACTLY. Where as ruin/undying? ACTUALLY has a counter because it can be removed from the game, and there are perks, and items, that can facilitate this.

Just curious, I cannot stand playing surv (especially solo) bc I usually end with about 18,000 bloodpoints, and WGLF stacks are a little difficult to acquire. As killer, however, I get tons of bloodpoints with ease.
I feel like if survivors can get better amounts of bloodpoints without having to actually escape (while still trying), that might ease the extreme toxicity tension between roles. I get the objective is to survive, but 5,000 points feels drastic. Any thoughts on this matter, people of the fog?
Because survivors have significantly less to do, and worry about than killers do. Thus, killers make significantly more bloodpoints in all scenarios. Killer should always get more bloodpoints. By a huge margin.
Also, WGLF stacks are easy to get.

People sometimes forget that a lot of what makes many Killers strong is exploiting mechanics in a way that probably wasn't part of the Devs original design concept.
Hag/Twins- Using your power to essentially face camp while multitasking the other Survivors.
Spirit- Standing still for free hits because Survivors can't tell when you're using your power.
Pyramid Head- Using your power to tunnel through Decisive. Using power to hit both Survivors on unhooks.
Demo/Pig- Exploiting the "basic attack" mechanic to have permanent 8 stacks on STBL.
Huntress- Hitting Survivors with close range hatchets because the cooldown is less than a standard M1.
Wraith- Using your hitbox mechanics in cloak to push Survivors into corners or out of pallet dropping range.
Ghost Face- Using the broken stealth reveal mechanics to expose Survivors that are looking directly at you.
Any others you can think of? It's funny that all these exploits of Killers were probably complete oversights by the Devs originally and they slowly just became "features" that were part of their overall balance. Remove most of these things and a lot of these Killers would become trash tier.
Hag/Twins: If camping is a broken mechanic, so is doing generators.
Spirit: Agree. They need that tell to be more obvious.
Pyramidhead: Oh no! A SINGLE killer that can counter what is, in and of itself, a broken mechanic - DS.
Demo/Pig: I know you're not complaining about STBFL, Pig AND Demogorgon right now. Imagine.
Huntress: Of all the issues Huntress has, THIS is the NON issue you whine about? k
Wraith: Imagine whining about Wraith. An already bottom 5 killer. All because you LET yourself get put into a bad situation. If this is somehow exploiting a broken mechanic, then so are survivors body blocking hooks.
Ghostface: Strangely, I have no issues with this.
-
You know, the amount of times you come in to these forums and post clips (I checked your post history for the lulz)...this almost seems like advertising masked as complaining.
-
No joke. The mobile team is leaps and bounds better than the non-mobile team.
-
Solution: Disable end game chat.
Survivors whine about literally everything you do to win.
This busted "honor code" system that only killers are apparently supposed to follow is garbage. Survivors will run LITERALLY EVERYTHING at their disposal, and give precisely zero craps.
IT IS NOT UP TO YOU AS A PLAYER TO PROVIDE THE OTHER SIDE WITH A GOOD TIME. YOU ARE NOT THEIR BABYSITTER.
This shaming killers for everything nonsense is starting to be exposed for what it is - survivor babies whining, as per the norm. Even looking at Twitch, survivor streamers viewcounts are plummeting faster than Cyberpunk review scores because people are starting to see how entitled they are.

Calling something broken means it's op not ACTUALLY broken as in bugged, so no they weren't fixes. They nerfed those things into the ground.
I would only call the vacuum pallets a fix because it looked weird when you character teleports to the other side.
No, they were fixes. There's no version of this where you're right.

First, I literally said, idc about dying. The chase was a win for me.
Secondly , I would not feel like i outplayed someone with that combo you described. It's what I call being outperked, not outplayed.
But, I was asking specifically people who use noed a legitimate question.
Then why do you think they take it as a "victory" when they only got one hook?
No killer thinks that's a win. Unless you did something to make it a moral victory for them. You were likely facing a baby killer. A good killer isn't chasing you for 5 gens. Hell, I doubt you're running a good killer for 5 gens.
-
No offence, but anyone who tells you to use Whispers on Doc needs to work on their situational/map awareness.
Whispers is a complete waste of a perk slot on Doc. His best perk, bar none, is Save the Best for Last. Irrefutable. The best Doc mains will tell you this.

This game has a serious problem in that solos are too easy for killer and SWF are too hard. That's why, when I play killer, I'm gonna dodge if I see all survivors are my platform or all of them are from another platform. I have to assume they're a 4-man SWF, which is a very miserable experience playing against. If there's 3 and 1, I'll humor it because it might be hard but is almost close to a fair match. But I don't care if I have to lobby dodge 5 times or more, because I don't want to be a 4-man's plaything. Maybe with Spirit or one of my better killers, I'll break away from this strat, but not with Trapper or anything weak like that.
Imagine not wanting to get better at the video game.

Play what you want.
But I have to ask Noed users something.
When you get ran for 5 gennys, then get me down with NOED at the exit gates, do you feel like you won? Or outplayed anyone?
It happened to me the other day, and it is rare for me to have really long runs, but sometimes RNG and luck align.
So I get a head nod, and I'm like dude that was a 5 gen hold and you had Noed. Is that satisfying?
For me idc, the run was a victory for me. At least send me a gg back after I throw one your way.
Anywhere, just curious how someone feels in this situation. Do you feel victorious?
They probably take it as a win as much as you seem to take it personally that you died.
Do you think you won when you unhook yourself with deliverance, and have DS in your back pocket during the EGC, making it impossible for me to get you again?
-
At it's core, yes.
Killers win because your average survivor (SWF or Solo) is trash. Against people who know how to play the game properly, utilizing pallets/loops and gen placement to their peak efficiency? The game is survivor sided. Plain and simple.
Which makes it easy to spot everyone in here who doesn't know what they are doing as survivor. Cause they all answered "no".
I wonder why.

You mean kind of how survivors have been whining about ruin/undying since it came out *LITERALLY ONLY 3.5 MONTHS AGO*, when the small PP build has existed for LITERAL YEARS unchanged, and is FAR more powerful?
This is a two way street bud, and survivors are far more guilty of it than killers.

No those were nerfs, I would only count vacuum pallets as a fix.
Also are you saying ruin/undying is not busted?
Not only do you have 5 security cameras around the map (sometimes you run by a totem that you didn't even know was there and it will make you shine bright red for 5 seconds lol) but if the other hex got broken it transfers to another totem, which can be very hard to find especially in indoor maps.
No, they were fixes. Something that is actually broken and game breaking being fixed isn't a nerf, it's a fix. I'm not saying that kind of stuff doesn't and hasn't existed on the killer side. Prayer beads spirit? That was broken. ORIGINAL forever Freddy? Broken. Deathslingers lack of counterplay? Broken.
And yes, I am saying Ruin/Undying isn't busted. Strong? Yes, busted? No. Because I'm not a boosted survivor who replies on crutches, and therefore have no problem running the actual counters (perks, items/addons) that make ruin/undying disappear within the first minute of the game. Distortion exists. As does Off the Record if you want to go that route. The only thing broken is your inability to understand this instead of blaming perks.
The average survivor meta is far more powerful than ruin/undying, and has been around FAR longer, unchanged, than ruin/undying. The issue is, now that killers have something, survivors are just like "whaaaa my fun whaaaa my fun". When did you guys take killer fun into consideration when running your busted meta?
Spoiler: You didn't.
And thus the circle continues - only survivor crutches are deemed okay. Anything that helps the killer win though? OMG BUSTED HERUDURUDUR.

It's interesting cause what I've noticed is that a lot of the posts are about killers crying that they got a 4 man swf sweat squad, or that survivors needs nerfs, survivors items need nerfs, survivor perks need nerfs.
Meanwhile, vacuum pallets were removed, BNP (toolboxes in general) were nerfed into the ground, Key is getting a rework (nerfing into the ground) soon, insta heal? gone.
But all I see on here is killers complaining about stuff and wanting these CRAZY changes that would make survivor gameplay literally unbearable lol.
A survivor can't say anything on here cause all the killer mains will riot under your post. feel free to go crazy here too, I like reading the comments.
The difference is, the majority of things that get "nerfed" on the survivor side are actually balance fixes. Literally everything you mentioned qualifies. You can't call it a nerf. It's fixing a mistake.
Meanwhile, survivors on the other hand are demanding a nerf to Ruin/Undying - a perk combo that, if survivors would run the perks/items that counter it instead of insisting on running their busted meta, would actually be pretty garbage.

...while someone is on hook across the map. Then just hugging the exit waiting to get chased out.
I am pretty sure EGC gained a significant leap in survivor casualties since crossplay arrived.
What is up with this?
Or maybe they have a brain, and know that 99ing exit gates is stupid.
And yes, it's stupid. I've died far more times because some nimrod 99'd an exit gate and I hate to stop in the middle of a chase to try and open it than I have because it was popped early. EDIT: Actually - I don't actually recall a time where an early opened exit gate is SPECIFICALLY the reason I died. At over 4000 hours in this game. So whatever streamer told you to do this - stop watching them. They're a bad influence and they will not help you get better.
And don't give me that "but but but BLOODWARDEN ERMAGERD" crap - it's a perk less than 5% of killers run.
MORE TIME IS ALWAYS IN FAVOR OF THE KILLER. LITERALLY ALWAYS.
-
The fact is - it's not killers that are necessarily strong. Don't get it twisted, some ARE strong. Nurse, Spirit, Billy, PPhead etc...but for the majority of it, it's not killers that are strong, it's just that survivors are trash.
I've been playing since 2016. Back when first down moris and ACTUAL infinites existed and the ORIGINAL brand new part was a thing. Killer hasn't gotten "easier". The game has simply gotten more balanced. On top of that, as I said, the majority of survivors are absolute trash. This is irrefutable fact. Any long time killer player who has played even off and on during it's lifespan KNOWS the quality of survivor has gone down drastically. It's not even the matchmaking that's the issue, it's just that they are actually bad.
Make no mistake, go up against a group, even solos, who know what they are doing? They absolutely have the upper hand and basically have to throw the game to lose.
How common is this though? Not very, because again, the majority of survivors are just bad at the game.
