I don't get how the "ruin/undying" meta is this huge target of the baby survivor "omg this is boring cause im bad whaaaaaaa" crowd. I personally despise hex perks, because they're inconsistent trash, but regardless, imagine whining about a KILLER meta that has been around LESS THAN 4 MONTHS, but everyone seems to find the busted survivor 2nd chance meta that's been in the game for 4+ years just fine. Even though it's far more powerful, and exploitable than ruin/undying.
I think before entertaining this "ruin/undying is boring" nonsense, the never changing crutch meta of survivors that's existed for far longer should be addressed. You don't think game after game of "E to outplay, unbreakable second chance, DS when working on a gen" for the last 4 years has been boring? But RUIN/UNDYING, hex perks that can literally be deleted from the game if you put down your crutchy builds and run the actual counters...that's the real problem somehow. That's what everyone whines about.
It's only bad if killers have crutches, apparently. Parrot ScottJund and call it whataboutism all you want, but at this rate it's just comical to see survivors whining about boring when this combo has only existed a few months. You don't know what boring is.

But then what survivors do is complain about how HARD it is to find totems when 99% of the time as killer you see where your totem is and it's like "No that won't break in the first 20 seconds" in the most sarcastic voice possible. I agree that there are some really good totem spots, but they seem rare.
It's not hard though, and even if it were hard to find totems, there's literally 2 perks, and 2 items, that tell you where totems are.
Excuse invalid. Survivors like that need to uninstall.

You must be a really good player to never get caught by the killer. Could you please stream for all us plebs so we can see you never get caught in any of your matches?
Nice strawman. I'm not saying I never get caught. Never said that once.
Strawman argument = you forfeit the argument. Back of the line, take a pencil and piece of paper, come up with something else.

If facecamping doesn't exist, what is this? this was in 2021 between. This is literally the definition of face camping, a killer, facing you, while you're on the hook.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/UX9NL1M425XQ/20210101173032-1.jpg
Staring at you isn't face camping. Face camping, as defined in 2016 by veteran players, is actually blocking possible hook saves, since back then you couldn't unhook from the left or right of the hook, so the killer could just stand in front of them.
Please verse yourself on the lingo, and the origins of said lingo, before challenging someone who knows the game and it's history better than you.

Lol you wouldn’t even last like 45 secs against a competent killer, the games designed so that the killer catches the survivor. This sounds like you’ve chased someone you couldn’t catch which just shows you’re terrible at the game
I've been playing since beta. Back when legitimate infinites existed as well as first down moris; but sure, you know better than me.
Except, you don't. Be good, then you can criticize my skill, bud. Now sit.

Go on then genius, explain what real face camping is and how it doesn’t exist anymore
Face camping - the act of standing in front of the hook and literally, physically blocking a survivor from unhooking. You've been able to unhook from every direction since 2016. Face camping does not exist.
Actually be knowledgeable on terms and phrases that have been in the game longer than you've been playing, then you're allowed to challenge me.

Hard for you maybe. Survivors have all the resources they need to never, ever get caught. In both map resources and their perks.

Map size and tile chains. A super big map like Disturbed Ward has the same amount of gens required as a tiny map like The Game. Tile chains are a bigger problem at higher level of play, the devs themselves don't seem to understand how unbelievably strong some windows can become just because of another window close to it or sometimes even a strong pallet. Also they don't seem to realize the strength of some tiles vs others, such as a long wall jungle gym being significantly stronger than something like a T and L wall.
I feel that so much. Father Campbells Chapel - it seems every time I get it, shack window is LITERALLY FACING a long wall window. Like, that is a LEGITIMATE infinite BECAUSE of the long wall window.

Could have just posted a tier list rather than just a blatant advertisement for your Youtube channel.

That’s the only reason facecamping still exists, because the devs can’t figure out a way to stop it without causing other issues. If they had a way they would have done it because it ruins the fun of the game. Yet we’ll see loads of killers defend facecamping because it’s in the game but when it comes to dc’ing they’re like OMG you ruin fun you should be banned for life bla bla bla
FACE CAMPING does NOT exist anymore. You must be an after-2017 player, because real face camping hasn't existed for literally years.
-
What you'll find is, especially on the survivor side, your average twitch streamer, even fog whisperers, are the sum of their perks.
I've PERSONALLY conducted experiments in my free time, mostly with anti exhaustion builds. (Addons on Huntress/Clown, and blood echo, and some mindbreaker on everyone else). I've faced MULTIPLE streamers. Some very well known ones, who I won't name because it's ltierally against the rules, but when they don't have their dead hards/other exhaustion crutches to carry them, they go down faster than Cyberpunk review scores.
Again, 99% of survivors are the sum of their perks.

"they dont sound great"?
my man, one is literally useless and the second one is so heavily restricted that it becomes useless like a minute into the trial, if it isnt already when not everyone runs it (which just ties back to the SWF vs solo gap btw).
you can use that phrase when we have some ACTUAL counter perks to it / buff these two to actually work properly and be worth running.
for example, if Off The Record was to hide your aura for the first minute or two of every trial, you would have a point there.
currently however, you dont.
Again, you have the tools, you choose not to use them, you don't get to complain. Argument over. You have no counter.

It is whataboutism because your bringing up irrelevant things to discrete the suggestions made in the original post.
And you seem to be biased towards survivors. What about killers and their crutches, their overpowered addons their crutches perks?
It's relevant though - because the reasons given are nonsense.
-
Survivors. Or at least, the attitude of the average survivor.
"I'll use literally every second chance I have, even if it's 1000x more powerful than anything you have, but I'll continue to whine about it because only killer strategies and builds are bad/boring".
Also, this is pure gold, from another thread...
"If killers are winning because of a perk, it's OP." - Referring to Undying. Imagine saying that about a HEX PERK that can be deleted from a match within seconds...when the survivor meta has been nothing but "press button for instant second chance with no counter" for the last 4 years.
-

oh you mean the perk that is only usable 3 times (3 times that arent even limited to totems, so any additional aura reveal perk from the killer just bruns it even faster) before turning into a dead perk slot for the rest of the game that also only works when everyone runs it, as otherwise the killer will still get the benefit from Undyings aura reveal, just on someone else?
and the one that only works for a limited time after being unhooked, which means the killer is in the middle of their snowball game already and pobaply already got the benefits of the Undying aura reveal anyway?
these two?
Yep. Even if they don't sound great, they exist, and they work.
You have the tools. Use them. If you refuse, you don't have a right to complain.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1847440#Comment_1847440
that is about as much of a good argument as "but survivors can miss the DS skillcheck" - yes it is true, but any killer that currently has nothing better to do will most likely spot someone on a dull, should they dare to touch it (or even go somewhat near it).
the only possible counter to that would be coordination between the survivors, to ensure that people only touch totems while the killer is chasing someone / that there are at least two people doing totems at the same time. that means any solo team has an instant disadvantage against this perk - which leads to it being as much of a solo team destroyer as it currently is.
thanks to the aura reveal Undying just widens the gap between solo and SWF, which, in short, isnt healthy for the game.
besides that, its not fair how people are being revealed with Undying without getting any notification about it - especially on dull totems. sometimes they dont even know hexes exist in their trial, yet they are already screwed.
There's literally 2 perks that exist to hide your aura. Use them. You have the tools. You don't get to whine for a nerf just because you refuse to use them.

Calm down, first of all how does one bait a dead hard for distance you walk up to them they waste it you walk up and down simple what’s so hard to understand
I'll repeat it, since you don't seem to actually know what a dead hard for distance is (which means you're new to the game and shouldn't be attempting a debate with me) - How do you bait a DEAD HARD FOR DISTANCE, which is done before a killer is within reach to hit the survivor in order to artificially extend a chase by using it to reach a pallet/vault.
The answer is "You can't". There is no counter. It can't be baited. Period. You clearly have no idea what a dead hard for distance is if you're seriously saying to bait it out.

That alone makes it too OP. If solos have automatically lost due to the perk equipped, then it is very unfair.

I agree that this is getting annoying but I can’t think of a way to nerf it it’s unnerfable I can’t nerf a perk that’s so balanced to the point where I can’t change it
It doesn't need a nerf. If survivors actually adapted to it and used the tools that exist to fight it instead if insisting on continuing to run the same busted ass meta they've been running for 4 years, it would be a pretty garbage perk. But no, it's KILLERS who have to change their ways, after less than 4 months.
Get off it.

dead hard: just walk up to them don’t lunge and let them waste it
unbreakable is fine
DS needs changes, but to counter you can either eat the DS or slug them and go pressure but if they have unbreakable then your screwed
Typical. Now, how does one "bait" a dead hard *FOR DISTANCE*, which is literally what I specifically referenced.
So, yes. Tell me the counter to a Dead Hard for distance.
"You can counter DS by slugging" - That's literally like me saying "just do bones" in reference to Undying, but somehow that's not considered a counter, despite there actually being perks/items/addons to facilitate with this, which is more than what exists to assist killers with countering DS.
-
@Sluzzy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1847378#Comment_1847378
That's not the same thing. Undying gives too much advantage for the wrong reasons.
Define "Wrong reasons"?
DS doesn't reward you with literal invincibility for 60 seconds for being hooked, aka screwing up and getting caught, aka the wrong reasons?
Dead Hard doesn't reward you for...doing literally nothing? I would consider that "the wrong reasons".
Unbreakable doesn't give you a free out just because you screwed up and got knocked down? Again, the wrong reasons.
But no, let's nerf undying, even though it has 4 perks that counter different aspects of it, as well as items/addons.
Survivors, man. It's all about their fun.

Doc is fine. Just Madness 3’s sound levels for survivor side and the loud mess when you’re slugged on the ground or in a position where you cannot end it. It’s just not needed. I don’t see a reason why survivors cannot work on it while dying on the ground.
So they're doing their job. Good.
-
Not good enough. Also give it an animation lock after use. So it can't just be used to artificially extend a chase with no skill required by dead harding for distance (which has no counter) to a vault or a pallet. Once they dead hard, they can't just throw a pallet or vault something. Problem solved.

Here we go with the whataboutism
It only seems to be whataboutism if survivor perks are brought up. Other way around and it's "fair"
And it's not "whataboutism" - because those perks for survivor have existed for literal years and none of which have counters in many cases. Undying hasn't even existed for 4 months yet and has counters in literally every case.
Try running the perks to counter them instead of running your crutches.
"bUt WhAtAbOutIsM"
Quit parroting Scott.
-
DS should only work if you're being tunneled.
Dead Hard should only work if the killer swings for a hit.
Unbreakable should only work if at least one of your team mates is still up.
I mean, if we're going to set arbitrary conditions on things, let's look at much more broken perks than a perk that already has counters like Undying.
-
Haddonfield, with Disturbed Ward as a close second.
-
Doc isn't A tier - and I say that as a Doc main.
It's just survivors that are Z tier.

@HeckaYeah said:
Does anyone know why survivors walk away with so little BP comparing to killers? (Besides when bringing specific add ons, of course).
Thanks for the input!
It has nothing to do with "incentives" to play killer or the fact that there's more survivor players. People saying that here haven't got a clue, to be honest. It's balanced because of the job killer requires vs survivors.
Killers get significantly more because their job requires them to do significantly more. Killers are a team of one that have to worry about 4 separate survivors. Survivors are a team of 4 that each do only a PORTION of their objective. You all share the bloodpoint pool as survivors. Killer gets their whole pool of bloodpoints to themselves. Don't believe me? Find a way to do all the gens solo, destroy all the totems, max out your altruism, and max out your bold, as well as escape in a match. You'll get about the same as a killer who 4k's with 12 hooks.
TL;DR - Play killer if you want more bloodpoints.
Under zero circumstances is there any "imbalance".

Either not enough people find them as annoying as you do to change them or they are intended. The whispers were added in a future patch and I think the screen distortions were there from the beginning. I don't see them being removed anytime soon. I'm honestly surprised they're still here, I would've expected a lot more people to find them annoying.
If they remove things because people find them annoying, Dead Hard, DS and Unbreakable wouldn't exist. Same with NOED, Ruin and Undying.
"Annoying" and "Boring" are just synonymous for "requires too much effort" a lot of the time.

Ok, but what if I'm the one on the hook? "Just struggle", yea, but I will still depip and only get very few bloodpoints. So how is that a strategy for me whatsoever? I feel like people who give that kind of advice aren't the ones sitting on the hook with a killer looking at them. It's easy to say "just do gens" or "waste the killers time" when you can actually play the game.
I shouldn't depip because I killer decided to stare at me on the hook and make me die on my first. The killer is still getting more BP for facecamping than I am for hanging on there for whatever how long.
I mean, that's how you punish campers. If campers are winning games by camping, it's survivors fault. They camp because survivors make it viable.
Besides, the killer has one objective. "Kill". It's even in the name. Are you going to not do gens as fast as possible to allow the killer to have more fun? If you spawn in right next to a hex totem, are you going to leave it alone in an effort to promote "fair play"? If you say yes to either of those, you're a liar; and I don't expect you to do either of those things either, so how dare you act so damn entitled by trying to tell ME how I should play just so suit your delicate sensibilities and cater to your fun. I don't care about your fun, nor should you care about mine. When's the last time you opened a shooter game and said "Man I hope this will be fun for the OTHER team!"? Never. Guaranteed.
I don't make a habit of camping, but it's part of the game. Just like all 94783894938493984398493348329849384938493483948 second chances survivors have.

This isn't true, tbh. you can think the killer is on someone else and they just faked it so you'd be an easier target to tunnel.
How do you know they faked it and it wasn't because simply saw you back on a gen? Meaning their priority changed because *you should always* go after someone who is on a gen vs someone who isn't. It's called gen pressure.
What you're doing is essentially reaching. If you're so concerned about being tunneled, don't get on a gen. If you get on a gen, you shouldn't be allowed to be on a gen and also be invincible. Why should you be allowed to progress your objective and be invincible, and the killer not be allowed to stop you? It's rock solid logic that has no counter.

When you explain it like that, your idea makes more sense.
Yeah. My thing is - if they were comfortable enough to get on a generator before their DS timer ran out, they were comfortable enough with the possibility of being rehooked. Rest assured, stay off a generator, I'll leave you alone.

I’ve contemplated the idea, but I’ve had/witnessed moments where a stealth killer pretends to focus someone else, only to go back to tunnelling the recently unhooked Survivor.
Your idea may be the better choice. I’m Rank 1 but not a pro-level Survivor imo.
If that survivor was working on a generator, it's impossible they were being tunneled. As a killer, it is ALWAYS paramount to get people off gens. Even if it means dropping a chase to do it. No matter who is on them. That is the efficient and optimal play, literally always.

Disappearing completely could negate its purpose in a bunch of cases, tbh. make it regress at double the rate, but half if they're in chase. And pause is slugged.
Or rather, deactivate until the next time you're hooked. But touching (even tapping) a generator or hex totem should take away your free escape. That's the most broken part about it.

I main Bill. Easier on the wallet.
My survivor build is WGLF, Small Game, Hope and Wake Up.

Even when I concede on points you simply latch onto something else to push your superiority complex out.
I admit I rely on it cause of sounds issues.
But only BAD stealth killers get sighted. There is always sight blockers near gens.
I don't have to prove anything. I just am better. I don't rely on perks to escape as survivor. Are my chances of escaping higher? Sure, but do I rely on them to get the job done? No.

I do rely on it, never said I didn't. I even said why I rely on it. I literally don't hear the sounds. I don't ignore them. I don't hear them. Whether it's a speaker v headphone issue or just my hearing. I don't hear the sounds of GF or Myers. Well Myers when he is 100% on top of me but it's too late then. You're just so busy trying to prove how your view point is the only right one and everything else is wrong to actually read.
It probably will get nerfed. It is meta for solo survivors and killers mains like to cry as much as survivor mains to get things nerfed. Maybe when Wraith gets his rework it'll happen. And then solos will be even weaker as people get yoinked off gens for instant hooks.
If you rely on a perk, as killer or survivor, you shouldn't have that perk. If you develop a reliance on a perk and can't win without it, it's because you're not good. I rely on nothing. I actually tend to play better with no perks at all (I don't level up all my survivors, because they are all reskins, and often play random ones that have no perks). I'm aware this comes with experience, but the fact that you called MY skill into question when you literally admit to RELYING on Spine Chill. No. Just no.
You lost this debate the second you admitted that. Get better at the video game, then you're qualified to call my skill into question. Period. I win, end of story.

It's a strong meta perk for solos. We want to nerf solos more even though they already get butchered by somewhat competent killers?

It would still have it’s main use of countering Stealth Killers (predominantly stalking Killers), but yes it will be weaker.
That’s the point of the suggestion, to make it weaker than it’s current state. It’s too flexible in use, affects all Killers instead of the ones it’s designed to counter, and is a strong meta pick. Taking it down a notch would spice up the meta, possibly bring underused Perks into play, and provide suitable counter-play.
It really is a good suggestion. I think what @VexTheHex's problem is, is that they seem like the type of person to get a Spine Chill proc, and then disappear from the tile (hello boring killer games, even as a non stealth killer).
Your change would still allow a counter to stalking, which would be perfectly fine.

Remove vault speed and actions speed then. It's meant to alert you of a killer approaching. The symbol is literally a cat.
If you can't get stealth grabs or get close enough for a easy M1 with the stealth killers, it tells a lot about you skill level. No offense of course.
It's meant to alert you of a killer approaching. "Undetectable" also means "undetectable".
There I can use that broken logic too. Except mine is more solid.
I also don't rely on Spine Chill, cause I'm actually good at survivor.
