Somebody thoughtfully did a poll on this:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/101700/what-does-waving-your-arms-on-the-hook-mean

That was a local lag not a server lag. Skillchecks are local. Something happened in game just at the point your skill check happened. The best example of this is in the past when playing killer the game would freeze just like that exactly 15 seconds into a chase. Calculating bloodlust just took too much out of the game.
Improving dedicated servers will not prevent that. Optimising the game will.

Why did you return to the hook in the first place?
No it is never ok to tunnel.
This is a game. If you're so desperate to win that you ruin everyone else's time, what are you?
The only time it is okay to tunnel is when you encounter a survivor who tries to sacrifice a teammate or refuses to help a teammate.
Then the game is void and it is your job to punish them on behalf of all gamers.
This game has the potential to be PHENOMENAL. It is destroyed by selfish players.
If I am able to never hook anyone twice till everyone is hooked once, never hook the same twice in a row, and never kill or Mori till everyone is hooked twice AND STILL GET 4/4 99% of the time, what excuse is everyone spewing to justify their shady tactics?
Remember this is 5 people working together to have fun
Play to maximize fun.
No one cares if they win or lose if they have fun.
I get thank you messages from people I kill.
Seriously.
All the time.
Consider others.
You aren't going easy on them.
You're just dividing your attention in a way that allows others to enjoy the game while still focusing on killing all four.
It's really simple.
Don't be a dick.
I don't know why this bothers so many
Why would I tunnel someone who refuses to help a teammate? They have just become MY teammate.
-
Do you have a target percentage in mind? At what point would you consider the perk worthy of having an extended stay in your loadout?

Hi everyone Im gonna be doing an experiment tonight and probably over the course of the next couple days! Whats this experiment? Its to test unbreakable. You see I despise unbreakable and honestly think its one of the worst survivor perks in the roster so I will be playing 100 games with unbreakable! What will I chart? I will chart times Unbreakable:
Came in handy:
Almost came in handy:
Was useless:
Came in handy means I was able to use the perk in the game and survive for more than 10 seconds!
Almost came in handy means I was able to use the perk but went down within 10 seconds of actually using it!
Was useless means I didn't get to use it at all!
I will come out with an update post with the results soon everyone!
Now you've told us, we know not to slug you. Results invalidated!
Actually a really good idea. Mrs JawsIsTheNextKiller either runs Unbreakable and never gets slugged or replaces it with DS and never gets "tunnelled".
Always followed by, "I told you I should have left Unbreakable/DS on".

Agrees with this, don't punish people just because some don't like swf, not everyone is toxic or throws salt, some of us just like the game and have fun and have great convos/times with our friends, even through lobby times. I feel i have an online lil family now due to swf. People just need to realise this is how it is, if you don't like some of the things or game play then perhaps go play another thing.
We just need to know who is SWF and who is not. I feel bad when I bring an ebony Mori into a game only to realise that they are all solos. I don't want to Mori solos, I want to Mori toxic SWFs.

BBQ was introduced as an incentive for the killer to leave the hook and not camp. An incentive to prioritize hooking a new survivor over tunneling. It gives the killer bonus bp for making the game more enjoyable for survivors.
Following the same logic, if we want to give WGLF an additional effect, it should be something that encourages survivors to play in a more enjoyable way for killers. Any ideas?
Killers need survivors doing something other than the objective. So how about even more bonus points for cleansing totems?

If the Entity is indeed a plant, it is merely taking revenge on all those vegetarians, murdering its kin.
I'm going to have a bacon sandwich to show it I am a friend.

When a survivor goes into a locker and forces me to eat their Decisive Strike I usually tunnel them since I know that they don't have it anymore.
If anything is going to make me tunnel, its getting hit by an anti-tunnel perk when I wasn't tunnelling.
-
To be honest, you actually did well. A reasonable haul of bloodpoints and a kill. That line-up smells like an SWF to me too. If they are going to have matchmaking this crazy, they should at least only match with SOLO survivors.

It is good on him. Like a lot of perks its more powerful on Billy than most other killers.
Almost as if there’s a problem with Billy...
Shhhhh....You're not allowed to even hint that on these forums!

@Asegbloodtears I was about to say, use those tissues to clean your screen, but...have you put a crosshair on your TV? lol
-
I'd recommend:
- Self Care
- Mettle of Man
- No Mither
- Object of Obsession
Oh and I play Hag, so please don't bring a flashlight.
-
Frustrating new survivors was not a good game design choice.
Having a teachable that has to be used on every killer to have a chance to win was also not a good game design choice.
-
I quite like the grind. It IS too much but I am glad it is part of the game. I would just like to see more bloodpoints awarded or reduce the cost of the perks and addons in the bloodweb.
I think the best way to enjoy the game is to identify a killer and a survivor to main, then identify the perks you feel will help you out the most. Level up your favourite characters and try to only unlock the teachables you want.
You will end up doing dailies with characters you haven't levelled up with perks you wouldn't have chosen and that's fine. You don't need the best perks to play the game and your perks do not need to be on level 3. The best perk I have on the Oni at level 3 is Monstrous Shrine, but I still play him.
-
I have been mostly tunnelling Kate in her new cosmetics. But only because I've just bought it. That's MY Kate outfit.
-
I was just getting used to learning Console nurse, sometimes I would get a kill, or even two.
I know that sounds bad, but it was actually really satisfying to know that the skills were forming.
But now, unless you are already a skilled Nurse, I feel there is no motivation to try to learn to play her. They should have kept base Nurse and just changed the addons. I would pick Clown, Bubba or Legion every time over Nurse.

@Joelwino said:
If the survivor have a key. If they want to leave the match early, then I suppose I’ll just help them out.
Yes if a survivor has a key they want to be tunnelled. It is your duty to make sure they don't use that key.
Also, when the game is turning in the survivors favour you will probably need to play a little less "nice". If the survivors have done most of the gens and you can get someone out of the game, you should do it. It is very different from tunnelling someone at the start of the game.
-
The previous one was at the end of the first Rift. I hope they make this a thing. Although to be honest I was burned out and didn't play much after my final challenge, face-camping 4 survivors in the basement.
-
No. It was an awful perk that did nothing at red rank and may have harmed the player base by scaring off new players.
Fix gen times, map sizes or nerf DS instead to compensate.
-
I agree. Since US documentaries always measure distance in "Football Fields" for some reason:
- Trapper runs at 0.050 Football Fields per second.
- Survivors run at 0.043 FF/s.
I liked the old system. Everyone can relate to running at 115% etc. It doesn't punish people for being American, British or old.
-
@Mushwin said:
Yes but do you use them and can honestly say you se them a lot in games?
I think we have just about enough perks now. One per new character would be fine and less effort to balance. But I know a lot of people buy the characters for the perks.
-
@Peanits said:
Perks are the real meat of the game, in my eyes. It's what keeps things fresh after all these years. Of course, if you're just after the best of the best, you could completely overlook them. Personally, I love some of the more recent perks. Head On, Inner Strength, and Any Means Necessary have all become favourites of mine. Even if they aren't the most practical, they switch up the game and make it a lot more interesting.
That's not to say that new killers and maps aren't nice, but sometimes a new killer isn't your cup of tea, and a perk works on any of them (even if the combo with some better than others).
Would it not be a great idea to constantly nerf the meta of both sides. The Ruin nerf has really made people rethink their Killer strategy. Should we not review other must-run perks to keep things fresh?

You say that, but you have no idea how many survivors I take pity on because I assume theyre newbies who got brought in by their SWF buddies, only to findout that the baby dwight that I gave hatch to was actually red ranked...
This is next level mindgaming. Dwight tricked you into giving him the hatch.
-
What problem are they trying to fix? Matchmaking or people complaining about Matchmaking. If it is the former, they should show it and then people can give feedback. If it is the latter, then you can see why they are hiding the rating.
-
If you play solo its impossible to win. If you play SWF its impossible to lose.
Balancing this game must be a nightmare.

Dead by daylight was unique and captured the imagination. There was nothing else like it (except for Pac-Man but that was 40 years ago). DeathGarden came across as one of many generic soul-less sci-fi shooters. Even though it is in my Steam collection, I've never felt compelled to load it up.
-
It's silly really, I feel bad if I get destroyed by a green rank SWF team and elated when I get 4 kills against a red rank SWF team.
When really, it's obvious to me that the red rank team was boosted and the green rank team probably have been in red ranks but may have not played for a while or deliberately deranked.
Fortunately for us players that are familiar with the skill levels in the games, even when they take the end screen ranks away, we will know who was roughly rank 1 and who was roughly rank 15.

Here is what I did YESTERDAY!:
I had a hatch standoff against a survivor. She walked right up to me while I was waiting for the hatch to open so that I could stamp on it. No problem, I'll just hammer R1 and close it in her stupid face.
Hatch opens and she jumps in, I look down and see: L1 - Close hatch.
Killer main, 1000 hours.
-
It is expected on February 4th.
-
How are survivors different? SWF with comms is built in on console so I would expect generally more SWFs to be communicating. PC owners have a lot of messing with 3rd party apps so it is a lot more effort.
I've heard that 360s are more difficult on PC too.
-
Why did they name the 4% unhook after some American basketball player? I don't get it.
-
Was I the only person to not know that Kobe's were named after a person? Was he was only famous in the states?
-
Self care is fantastic perk for beginners and should be left alone. Letting someone else heal you is still 32 seconds though. 16 seconds of their time and 16 seconds of yours. If you spend time running to find someone to heal you then self-care is MORE time efficient.
The real problem with it is that it takes up a valuable perk slot.
-
The thing I like about console is that if I get tired of all the trash talk, I can block survivors from talking to me and they KNOW they are blocked. This feature needs to be on PC too. I know you can close the abuse window but the survivors assume you read their hate.
-
Happy Birthday survivor main.
-
It's always a good idea to close other applications when uninstalling, including your web browser.
-
If you play killer and you tunnel and camp then yes. However if you play "fair" then also yes.
-
The Ruin nerf benefits killer mains more than survivor mains.
Why? Survivor mains know the spawns well, could cleanse the totem really quickly and/or hit great skill checks with little effort.
Killer mains have to play survivor too. They are less likely to hit greats, less likely to play in an SFW and less likely to hit Greats.
-
Don't fix ruin and don't give us another perk that we all have to unlock and run on every killer. Just address gen times. It's a really easy fix and will prevent another stale meta.

I mean, should DS not be stopped by T3 Madness?
It's a good idea, it would encourage more people to play doctor if he could counter DS.
-
But...but...what about my free wins?
-
I think Billy is rated easy because
- A new player will enjoy success using his chainsaw purely for map control and rely on his M1 for attacks
- A veteran player has the both incredible map control and an instadown with no cooldown, plus an almost limitless number of instasaw addons
Old Doctor on the other hand is rated hard because
- Very tricky to get used to the stance switching for a new player
- Very difficult for a veteran player to beat good survivors using poor underpowered doc compared to other killers.

They nerfed it beca
use everyone was running it. If they now buff it they will have achieved nothing. However, there is still a day for them to fix base-game gen times.

Making DLC characters part of Tome challenges is kinda of a dogdy move in my opinion. Unless they give all people access to these for the rift's duration.
On PC, just about everyone is DLC but since they can all be unlocked with shards, and you don't need to complete the DLC-related missions to reach the end of the tome I think it is fair.
-
I don't blame you Mushwin. I blame the schools.
-
Noed is a perk to take out solo players because they can't track the number of totems cleansed. It's easy for SWF players to deal with. That's the part I don't like.
With Ruin nerfed, survivors will not be going out of their way to look for totems so that will boost Noed's effectiveness.
