I also had a team do this to me but I thought they were just giving me sympathy kills. It could have just been content creators deMMRing for their juking videos. Otherwise I really don't see the point of deranking for easier games when you are already very good.
-
If you play according to those rules I think defeat is to be expected. There is a happy medium between those rules and tunnelling and face-camping the first survivor you see until they are dead, then moving onto the second. etc.
Actually, would this be test number 2?

Alright.
Answer this for me:
Assuming this works as you think it does. That means that every game has to match you with opponents and teammates of equal skill level.
Then riddle me this.
What happens if a Killer brings NOED and a game they were losing hard on became a 3k at the very least because of that? What happens if a Killer has an awful early game and is making a lot of mistakes but he then snowballs into a 4k because he was playing a Killer like Oni or Michael? What happens if a Killer just facecamps every Survivor he catches? What happens if he is playing Bubba when that happens? And you don't need to assume I'm making up a hypothetical scenario.
This ######### has been happening a lot in this game. For far longer than MMR was first introduced.
If Kills are all that matters, then why do Killers who do (let's be honest here) absolutely nothing skillful being paired up with people who (supposedly) are?
Same with Survivor. I play Survivor a lot and I like to make sure everyone escapes if I can. If I am not hooked yet, I'll go out of my way to rescue someone being facecamped at the end of the game. Even if it means I am the one that is going to die in the end. Because to me that is fun. I like cooperating with my teammates. Those moments are what makes Survivor games for me.
Why am I not graded based on how well I loop the Killer? Why am I not being graded on how efficient I do generators? On how many survivors I can safely rescue and keep the killer busy while they heal? Why am I not being graded on a lot of the game sense that is pretty much REQUIRED to play this game with? Why is the only thing that matters in this system how many times you escape?
I can guarantee escaping constantly if I just hide and do nothing. If I just open gates or work on gens and hide like an immersed coward. But that isn't fun for me. And it isn't fun for the other survivors and the Killer as well.
Not to mention. According to PEANITS HIMSELF, the system is not graded on just "Kills and Escapes" there are Other Factors that are put into consideration. And with what Patrick said, it's pretty much a bold faced lie
We both want the same thing. We both want fair games. But I also want fun ones. I'm sick and tired of the stale meta. I hope Boon Totems shake it up a lot. I'm sick and tired of seeing the same Killers, I hope the buffs and reworks will change how effective they are to play so more people play them.
You know how excited I get seeing a Billy in my Survivor matches? It's literally one of the most exciting things I've seen in a long time because I HAVEN'T SEEN HIM IN ######### AGES!
I just want something different in this game, and this MMR system isn't that
It's forcing people to feel like they need to play the meta to be able to have fun. because that is what the majority of people want. No one wants to just win with any means necessary. They want to run Any Means Necessary to get dumb and fun moments in this game.
Why the ######### do you think Survivor gameplay and Killer gameplay that goes off meta gets popular? Why the ######### do you think people like Demi actually has a viewership at all? Because we're all sick and tired of the same old ######### and want to see something new and play with that something new.
We learned yesterday that SBMM is not actually rating skill, it is making matches by trying to get to a 50/50 of "wins". So no I disagree that it is trying to match people of equal skill, it's only trying to get matches to be roughly 50/50 kill rate on average. A Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer Billy may not be as skilled as the Clown dressed as a chicken with silly perks who lives at the same MMR but they probably will have a similar kill rate so your chances of surviving are roughly the same.
If I get facecamped by a Bubba (as I literally just have done right now), then I did lose and that Bubba was considered to have "beaten" me. Perhaps next time I won't attempt a YOLO rescue on the Bill who was clearly being facecamped himself. The MMR decided that me versus camping Bubba was a 50/50 on who would come out on top. I genuinely can't argue with that - It shouldn't have worked but it did and that is on me. Camping Bubba will probably continue to rise up the MMR until he faces survivors who are also only concerned with "wins". Good luck to him.
Despite taking this contrary argument, I actually agree with you. I'm only saying how I think it is and why it is like that. Given the choice between this, and actual SKILL-based matchmaking, I also would prefer the latter. But I suspect they just couldn't do it. But compared to the previous system, I am not getting those outlier matches - I don't stomp and I don't get stomped. I'll take it.
-
It can be gamed, and I'm sure a more in depth system would be datamined anyway, and that too would be worked around. But over the course of say 100 matches, I would expect on average to kill survivors of lower skill than me and lose to those who are higher. So for majority of games it should roughly be correct and that should put me were I belong.
I still find it hard to consider getting everyone on death hook and then them all escaping as anything other than a huge defeat. The MMR system would be at the gate teabagging me too!
-
I think they can't buff fog while PS4 players exist unfortunately. The purple fog offerings in particular used to be problematic on that particular platform.
They could just darken the maps for survivors. They need the atmosphere and killers need the vision. (It should work in the lore too as killers are sensitive to light so they should have better dark vision)
-
You are correct but may I add that there are THREE sides to play if you want an accurate perspective: Killer, survivor and SWF survivor.
If you only play solo survivor, or only play in an SWF you will have a vastly different opinion about the power of survivors.
-
If you let all the survivors escape then the next set of survivors are probably also likely to be allowed to escape. Therefore matchmaking would have been correct to derank you. Unfortunatly from your perspecive, this would prove that it works.
-
A better answer would have been, "We tried a bunch of different matchmaking algorithms, and the one that gave the most fair matches was the one we have implemented."
-
Yes.
Ask a killer what a win is. Most will say 3 or more kills. By that token, a loss must be based on escapes.
These are the rules we use, so we shouldn't be surprised they are now used for matchmaking.

I really hope so,words cant describe how much I want this.
Unfortunately they have previously answered the question in these very forums. There are no plans to add a bot mode. There was a badly worded dev update that implied we were getting one but we are not.
-
The devs admit that the grind is too rough and there is a ready built system that can give more bloodpoints at the end of the month. This would undoubtably make many people play more if they doubled or tripled the payout.
More bloodpoints on the 13th of every month seems like a win-win for everyone to me.
-
Lamps and Pustula plants were fun in previous events but predictably many people moaned. They should add a "grumpy mode" in options to allow people to opt out and carry on playing as normal while we enjoy ourselves.
-
I'll miss it. I just hope they don't delete it completely because if the Stranger Things game flops, Netflix might be willing to allow it back in the game in a year or so.

I agree something is up. But my problem is I recently tried the game on steam. And I have about 0 experience gaming on a PC, besides a few games of Roblox I played with my students.
So, while I know the game, I have no idea how to use the controls. I now have 4 hours on PC and I am constantly getting killer with hundreds of hours.
I thought it would be a good time to learn, but it has been frustrating. It is a weird feeling to know the game and not the controls.
Same here. Unfortunately I don't have 7 fingers on my left hand so I just plug my PS4 controller in now, it's a little annoying that the on screen buttons are all for Xbox though.
-
Repeatedly hitting them on the hook I would consider toxic, but a single hit is just my way of telling them they did well in the preceding chase.
-
Is running Small Game and cleansing all the totems when all your teammates are Mikaelas toxic? Because I'm planning to do that.

Forever
I hope that means we get another map.

Corrupt and Ruin together? You are just asking survivors to go and look for your Ruin at the start of the game.
Anyway, if you are using meta-perks its only fair that you are matched against meta-perks. The survivors could probably make the same argument as you. Go on a meta-perks boycott, take some losses and hopefully you will end up in the casual player pool where you can enjoy the game again.
-
Its very easy to fake unintentional disconnects. For example, there is no way for Dead by daylight to tell the difference between you resetting your router and your ISP having a hiccup. Also, even if a PC knows that you physically unplugged an Etheret cable, can a PS5 or Nintendo Switch do the same? For fairness, it would have to be the same on all formats.
Personally I wouldnt worry too much, ban waves used to be quite common in times when people used to constantly DC. Now that there is an inbuilt timeout system, there isn't as much need for the ban waves.
-
I watched an episode of "The Royle Family" from a couple of decades back which is set in the region the word comes from. Denise Royle pronounced it Myther.
Seeing that this does not support my argument, I probably shouldn't have mentioned it.
-
The legacy skins should be given to those that have proven themselves to be loyal to the game. I think they should be given away to forum users with over 2,615 posts.
-
Friday was Temple of Purgation day. My first 4 games were all on that map.
Saturday, my first 3 games were Ormond, the next 3 were the Pale Rose.
I know that random means you are likely to get repetition, but this week it does seem to be much more than the usual repetition. This has happened a couple of time before to me and both times someone created a post about it. Now it seems to be happening again and here is a post claiming the same thing. This seems like an interesting coincidence.
-
To be honest I wonder if the people that used to design maps every chapter, are now designing charms. I loved having new maps.

Well idk about RPD, i heard we are getting more versions of it like Midwich
I think they will barricade some doors blocking off parts of the map giving an RPD East and RPD West map. This would be true to the lore of RE3 is they did it in that too.
-
This is quite normal if you haven't tasted the new SBMM yet. The game takes a few games to attune to each killer's MMR. Play a few more Piggy games and the level of opposition will get closer to your skill level. I'm playing Pyramid Head today (who I rarely play) and it's rough. But I know it will get easier as it did for my other killers.
Three flashlights and a key have just loaded in to my lobby, so we are in for another rough one!
-
For me its the lack of variety that is the problem. Not enought people are playing Pallet Freddy so we don't see dream pallets often enough. If they just switch the defaults to pallets you would have to play an offering to give him the stronger power. As it is now it seems wrong to play an offering that makes him weaker.
-
It scares me that there is so much support for the Boon totems in this thread.
-
There is a very small camera on the outside of each mask and a viewscreen on the inside. The camera can pick up the auras and scratchmarks which is why they can see them.
-
Just because survivors have OP combinations doesn't excuse killers having them.
-
They are so strong that when they get their inevitable nerf, they will be still way too strong.
-
It's terrible that this is not classed as a bug. It NEEDS to be classed as a bug. Seeing and hearing a survivor with a much worse ping get hit but not getting injured just doesn't make sense.
-
Nightmare on Elm Street is a good example of a series where every movie is worse than the one that preceded it. The first two movies are classics and definitely worth watching though.
-
If you want to win, you need to be running the meta perks. If you want to have fun, you need to replace them with fun and interesting perks. You'll lose a lot more games with the fun perks though. But you'll need to lose some games for the MMR to put you with killers who care more about about having fun too.
My Pallet Freddy hopes you will join him in a game or two.
-
So the devs go ahead with something despite negative feedback - They are wrong
The devs cancel something in response to negative feedback - They are also wrong
Which one would you prefer?
-
This thread is just another example of how fun the majority of the DBD community is!

I don't know why I would sabotage my teammates perks
Because killer mains play survivor too.
-
Somebody had the idea of Boon totems and none of the devs thought, "Hey wouldn't they be horribly broken if survivors are using comms and all equip them?". As soon Boons were mentioned to the community, many killer mains were very concerned. Once we saw what they were like, they were exactly as overpowered as we feared.
That's why they should never have even got to PTB.

Nevermind the fact you get a 100% bonus to healing while in the circle...
I dunno, seems kinda crazy to me.
No it's much worse than that. EVERYBODY gets a 100% bonus to healing while in the circle. And if you are playing against an SWF, you know there will always be at least 3 circles at any one time.
-
I don't blame players for enjoying the last three weeks of super-strong Spirit. Are you looking forward to Nurse every game though?
-
How about, "The entitity has disabled the top 5 perks on both sides this weekend. But will reward you with double bloodpoints for all games".
(I'd leave BBQ out though otherwise there would be no point)
-
I want to get looped by my Gran!
-
Reducing the Spirit nerf is a good decision, it shows that they are listening to the feedback.
I am really happy about the key and hatch changes. I've had way to many matches ruined recently by keys.
Windows of Opportunity is my survivor crutch perk so I'm really happy the cooldown is going.
-
Boon totems need to go.
-
This is why other people's grades need to be hidden.
-
Boon: Default Meg - While the totem is active, everybody is a default Meg.

As a Hillbilly main im looking forward to these add on changes
what also excites me is piggy as a former pig main i might wanna skiddadle a bit back to her
much fun things ahead and oh yeah spirit ######### her
Come on now, you know you are going to miss "Moderately accelerates Chainsaw Cooling rate when a Flashlight is shining on you."

This all sounds great, it really does. But just to keep things in perspective - Boon totems will probably arrive at the same time.

It looks like the new survivor is going to be… Hummus.
Oh a vegetarian survivor, and there's going to be a vegetarian charm - a turnip perhaps. Three meat-free perks and I'll get reported for tunnelling someone "just because of their lifestyle choices".
So much for all your carrots Eugene - run AWAY from the killer!
-
Just a note next to the player's icon would do it for me:
- Repairing a gen
- Healing
- In a chase
- Teabagging

Ah yes the extra effort of pressing the dedicated discord chat button on pc. Very hard setup.
Sorry I didn't know that EVERY PC player has a discord account, has it installed, knows how to use it and can instantly talk to a random player in a lobby who on the same platform.
