  • I don’t get killers who complain about pips, and want them buffed. It should be hard as hell to pip as killer, to prevent you going up against the best when you yourself aren’t.

Last month I started to play Killer more than just for the rituals and I had a pretty good time with Doc, Wraith and Myers. Most games are fun and even though I lose some rounds where everyone escapes I'm still enjoying it.
But every now and than I get a SWF group with players that are much better than I. Because of the lack of a real ranking system that's something that happens and I have to admit, that I also enjoy it to face much better/worse Killer/Survivors every 13th-16th in the month.
However, some group really make me feel like #########. If a killer has to face a group of survivors with multiple flashlights, desicive stikes or brand new parts this game goes from fun to a feeling which I would describe as just [BAD WORD], noob (name of that emotion was taken from some after game chats).
I try not to be like remove flashlights, fix d-strike bla bla bla because I know that flashlights can be dealt with. SWF group that play in a much lower rank then where they belong are the problem. They just stop respecting the killer and see them as their dog to play with.
So I tried to figure out what is the unfair part about the games where I can do nothing about which can be fixed to prevent the killer from being a useless victim but keep the counter mechanics for the survivors up.
And now after a way too long introduction comes my first buff idea:

    1. Entity blocking the exit also for survivors
As the Killer approaches the exit gates the entity blocks it, so that he can not escape. If this barrier would also come up for survivors it would be a counter for the unhooking and then blocking behind a survivor giving the killer no chance to get them. Now after the gates are opened killer mostly just stay with the hooked survivor if there is one and camp them. With this changes killer could chase another survivor, knowing that as long as he is behind them in the exit area, they can't escape. The killer gets the chance to get another survivor hooked and the others can unhook the person.
This would lead in my opinion to a more exciting end game because as a survivor you have to make sure you have enought distance between you and the killer to escape the trial and killer don't have to camp as soon as one gate is open. Saving someone from the hook at team also needs a strategy instead of just blocking behind the injured survivors.
Also survivors do not just run towards the exit line, self care, and then go back just to save another person. In order to not get trapped in the exit they have to leave or try to escape and then heal themself.
You get also a punishment for cocky survivors which refuse to leave in order to taunt the killer in the end.

    2. Make the short ranged killer M1 a AoE strike
SWF group tend to just bodyblock the killer in order to make it impossible to hook someone. I don't think that this should be removed, but it's way to easy. If the short ranged M1 attack deals damage in a small cone in front of the killer it would be possible to hit two survivors at the same time. That espacially helps if you get blocked by more than one person in a corner so you have to hit twice in order to move again.
For bodyblocking you would have to alternately block the path of the killer and not just run there and sneak in front of the hook. So it's still possible, but you have to respect the killer as a threat and be careful of what you are doing.

I think that my ideas are pretty simple which I think is good because noone wants to overly complex mechanics to balance the game. They also do not affect every game you play, they are situational and should make the killer more threatening against SWF groups.

I read a lot about people complaining about that SWF is to powerful. So what do you guys think about it? Could my ideas make these matchups more balanced? Or am I not having the right approach to this topic?
I'm looking forward to get some feedback and hear about other ideas from you.

I know you have tried hard for both these ideas but both wouldn't work. The first one allows the killer to essentially pick the survivor they liked the least whose still left at the end, then constantly chase them with their being no chance of them escaping. As long as you're there then they can't escape so you can essentially take the game hostage. The second idea at first sounded good but then i realised you're buffing camping. It means you can stand at the hook and down the rescuer and the hooked person in one go. I agree a change needs to be made but these wouldn't work.

You are right with the camping. They should make camping a so bad tactic that no one wants to play it first and then think about my idea. Totally agree.
To the first point, the entity block really late. So the killer has be past the colums for it to be blocked. You just have to make sure that you can outplay the killer next to an exit and work with your exhaustion perks to build up the distance. There is not much needed.

The first idea has way too many flaws. It’s not a good idea, with how many ways it could be abused. Also, saying that it’s priblems are fixed by perks is even worse, so I have to run an exhaustion perk to even be able to escape if the killer is chasing me? That’s not good at all.

No opinion is wrong, and you have every right to disregard mine, but when you state that you're laughing, of course I am going to focus on the positives because I'm not a pessimist. From now on clarity should be your goal instead of downing someone who was just trying to be helpful to someone who was having difficulty against survivors.

Believe it or not dude, there are such things as wrong opinions. Saying "The sun is green!" Is a wrong opinion or "Dog meat is tasty!" Is maybe a little bit more debatable but nevertheless a horrible opinion.

I don't know what it is about this game but I think the devs are at least partially to blame for this participation trophy, everyone's a winner and no one's a loser, entitled bullshit.

You clearly can’t grasp or know the definition of opinions. Saying the sun is green ISNT an opinion, it’s a declaration, and an incorrect one. Tasty is a subjective, this an opinion. And as such, as it’s subjective, can’t be proved wrong. Saying it’s a horrible opinion, is YOUR opinion. Also, saying opinions can be wrong is an incorrect declaration. If you’re gonna go English nazi mode, at least be good at it you pushover.

Everyone needs a jump to conclusions map. There is no evidence the patch failed cert. NONE. It hasnt even been 10 days for the certification yet. They said “weeks” in their tweet. Its been 1 week...singular. I understand that in the world of instant gratification like today it may be hard to understand “waiting.” There used to be a time when ordering a movie from a catalogue would take 6-8 WEEKS to arrive. Relax people. Its coming. I dont know why everyone was so shocked there is a cert delay. This is standard procedure for all patches and shouldnt come as a surprise.

    ”WHY ARENT THEY BEING TRANSPARENT?!”
transparent about what? Its in cert. thays it. They dont have a pizza tracker that tells tgem when to get off the cpuch and meet the pizza man at the door. They will likely know the day it releases! Calm down!

I agree that people are overreacting, BUT 1) It has been 10 days, the sent it in on the 9th. 2) People think they said weeks, because much like the players, they planned for the worst, not what should’ve been. 3) Actually they can track it, all they got to do is ask SONY, and they give a general idea of where the cert process is at.

    Hi! RogueGoddess here!

In my own personal opinion, I believe that the creators of DBD should send these requests in on the same day they begin PBT, so that by the time they are ready for release on the PC, they may also be ready for the console, and we whom own the consoles don't have to wait until we have grandkids to have the same content.

The frustration levels of those of us who love this game just go up beyond compare. Anyways, that is just my two cents. o/

Solo and SWF are way different in strength. That’s the entire reason right there why the game isn’t balanced. Just give solo full comms. Nerf survivors in general, with loops and such, NOT THIS, and buff trash killers like Freddy, nerf nurse a tiny bit, maybe raise her skill floor, and nerf billy a tiny bit. All killers, should be about huntress strength, and then have loops nerfed.

No, it's an insane buff that makes them horribly unbalanced. Hex perks are already good enough needing to be found once, let alone finding ruin 5 times, thats just obnoxious. especially if you have thrill of the hunt. Totem perks are in a pretty good spot, i just want to prevent them from being seen upon spawning or devour being destroyed when they dont even know what it is

Why is it horribly unbalanced? Why is it obnoxious?

Because if it did that to SWF, it’d basically infinity gauntlet solo players out of this dimension

  • Regrding the modes, hardcore would just move the entire killer player base because they don’t like survivor perks (rightfully so though). And the 2v8 should be about 2v 9 or 10. This is due to snowballing being almost instant with 2 killers.

This line right here destroyed your credibility. I know it might seem like the game is killer sided but it is not, it is not BY A LONG SHOT. Good killers crush new survivors like yourself but once a survivor gets good at the game it is a very different story. You have 42 hours in this game. For alot of games this is enough to be considered experienced but in the case of Dead By Daylight you are still a green horn noob. I implore you play killer and once you get to the high ranks you will start to see just how survivor sided this game is to a broken degree. If you are interested in seeing how OP survivors actually are when you are experienced just search Marth 88's depip squad.

Most new people think that, because of a big problem in low ranks; survivor skill floor is so far down it’s in the depths of hell. No seriously, SWF is definitely op, but being new will always result in you getting waffle stomped down the drain.

It is a problem because people will go to the side that can gain more bp which can cause lobbies to be in a bad state.

No, because killers get BBQ, and generally get more. That’s not a problem anymore. Don’t know where that notion came from

When WGLF was 200% more people played survivor than killer. Yeah a very small percentage boost won't harm the que times, but when you noticeably see a difference in bp gain, more people will flock to the easiest way of bp.

Never said it was a current issue. I was replying to what you said that can cause a problem..

You will have to go forward try to break line of sight, juke and when you think he don't know exactly where you are. If this kind of change occure, the trail when you run must be nerfed or deleted for make it easier.

A big part of juking is to see where the Killer's headed to and move into a different direction while breaking line of sight. That would be impossible if you can't turn your camera anymore.

So when you get out it is like 'man... that was crazy, I'm lucky to have gotten out".

That isn't the case so much.

He knows he’s not entitled to live, he’s saying the hillbilly got bent out of shape due to acting entitled to 4 kills, and failing horribly, due to his own mistakes no less.

  • For all those people out there, no one cares it’s meant to be hard mode, it should get a buff. If devs says killer was unbalanced because it’s hard mode, you’d flip your #########.

Anyway, I suggest 100% noise reduction, not 50%, 10% faster recovery, 25% crawling. Recover while crawling. No aura to killer while downed. No injured music. And less body sway from being injured.

While in chase, survivor can't see behind them, their screen is locked forward, or at 90°.
First : It nerf the pallet looping, it won't be safe anymore if you don't have permanent info on the killer.
Second : You will be more afraid of a killer who is chasing you, you don't know how close he is, only when red thing appear on you.

The only problem i see it's gonna be harder to juke. Maybe delete bloodlust if you had that.

What do you think ? I don't say i want it to be in the game, just want to debate on it.

Just completely remove 3rd person from a survivor. This would turn DBD into an actual horror game, even if they are playing SWF
Sure delete bloodlust if survivor runs in 1st person, that would make mindgames at pallets actually possible if he doesnt know 100% of the time where you are

That's too much, it's impossible to stealth when ou don't have any clue where is the killer, and the killer gonna have 4 kills 90% of the times. That's too much imo.

Sure it would require some rebalancing, getting rid of aura perks e.g. but it would be a start
And yes, if you want to look around a corner, then you should have to peak #########

Staring into a gen would be complete ASS. Stop making all these ideas to change the core gameplay, that almost always results in the games death. Just balance it. Add comms to solo, then hella nerf survivors. Done. Balanced. Core gameplay still as intact as it used to be. (Mute buttons obviously included, you shouldn’t have to ask about that)

  • Using the incredibly finicky and bad rank system for gameplay tweaks is a horrible idea. People would sandbag, de-pip. Balance would get possibly worse. It’d cause a load of problems. Just balance the actual gameplay

That's certainly a possibility, so BHVR could always prevent leavers from backing out of a lobby once they've joined it.

Then killers would also be locked in lobbies if they were doing the same stuff. Anyway, the reason the whole quitter thing with SWF is flawed, is because if they had the data to block a specific mode, just temp restrict them completely.

So while, it may have looked favorable on the PTB, over time and experience, survivors would learn to simple hide by a gate and wait for the hatch to be closed.

Yes this is what potencially would happen if they introduced the close hatch mechanic in its current idea. Other suggestions should be given taking into account not to prolong the game too much and not making it boring.

In my opinion the hatch choice should stay because its not there only for a free escape but also for not to prolong the game needlessly. The close hatch option can be implemented but it need some tweaks like for example: to prevent survivors camping gates there can be an increased timer for gates. So then the survivor will have to choose to go for the hatch first and camping a gate will be more risky.

Then if the game prolongs too much for example more than 2 or 3 minutes auras can be revealed.

Makeing gate take longer is probably not the best idea, it’d make billy even more ridiculous.

Quite simply, if my idea was inplemented, it would fix the problem at the root, he game would only need to be balanced once. And people may even forget SWF as a threat. That’s if it’s executed PERFECTLY “we know it won’t, due to the skill floor being in the depths of hell. Your idea is good, but would cause something similar to removing SWF, in that matchmaking would be hurt, bad. Along with complaints and less money.

These are WITHOUT CONSIDERING BEING DESTROYED (which is what I said but you immediately mentioned being destroyed makes them weak... so reading is pretty meh. Devour hope and ruin you said are strong. Third seal makes SWF a bit harder, and solo and instant fresh hell. Lullaby and thrill are actually weak, I can agree on that. NOED is strong, and just like d-strike, both are stupid in concept rewarding failure.

  • @RSB

Survivor balance is in a pickle, no ALL balance is in a pickle right now. Lots of people say looping, camping, etc. are really big problems...but why aren't they being tackled?

Here’s why; SWF. SWF throws balance out the window, not only does it make survivors strong....but the main core problem......now 3 sides need to be balanced, but 2 are tied together. As it currently is,with states including SWF matches saying that survivors survive rate is 50%-ish...that’s really bad. As we know SWF is much stronger than solo, that means, by logic, that SWF has roughly a 70-80% survive rate, while solo has only about 30%.

How do we fix this? Well it’s near impossible. But the only way to fix this would be to make solo survivors have much more communication, and with the 3 sides becoming 2 again, be able to nerf survivors with out making solo queue a death sentence.

The reason why this hasn’t occurred...the developers don’t want to break “immersion”. But I think it needs to happen. We literally can achieve balance unless Solo is the same strength as SWF. That’s the only way to then balance killer vs. survivor.

All in all, immersion shouldn’t cost balance and elbow drop it in the jaw. It’s a price to pay, but survivors that are solo should have a voice chat (SURVIVOR ONLY; NOT PROXIMITY OR HEARABLE BY KILLER LIKE IN F13)

With that, solo would be of similar strength to SWF making solo overpowered just like it. Next killer and survivors could be balanced without making solo queue trash.

As of now, nerfing survivors would make SWF more fair, but solo would be ruined. Buffing solo would make SWF even more broken. So solo must be made of equal strength, so both can be nerfed or buffed without messing up the other.

The developers claim they want a 50% death/survival rate of all games. This is the only way to do it.

If solo continues to be without comms, one part of survival (Solo or SWF) will ALWAYS be unbalanced. A game mode separation would split the player base, and the game wouldn’t be able to handle that, so casual and ranked simply wouldn’t work. This is quite possibly the only way

    I know, it’s sad...but it’s too true to deny.

If you read any of the posts I made you’d know otherwise. I, many times have advocated killer buffs, gave ideas, etc. but simply because I don’t align with your painful bias, I’m automatically a bad guy. No, I don’t want to “buff overpowered survivors” I want to make all perks useful, but in general I think SWF should be nerfed. But if survivors are nerfed, then solo queue would die. I made a solution to this, you can read it under my balance thread.

Yyyhhh, no, I do not want to read it, I've made a topic about it too. And my painful bias? Nice, you know more about me than I know. I play 50/50, but as you wish.

Ill just copy and paste it here then.

They are weak, and can be destroyed by survivors. Don't you think it is unfair?

No. Not really. They are only weak because they can be found easily.

I've seen suggestions where killers get to place the hex totem. (dull totems are still randomized)

Takes a lot of work out of trying to code proper hidden placement which will inevitably sometimes fail.

At the first look it is a nice concept, but then you will still have one mediocre killer perk which can be destroyed, versus 4 survivors' perks, that are way better and can't be destroyed.

Hex perks aren’t mediocre effect wise. Yeah they get destroyed easy, but the actual effect is strong

I usually get 2 or 3 against SWF. 3-4 in general. Nice selective reading though, and instantly perceiving I was talking about SWF.

Because most of the players at R1 are SWF...

Then I guess I’m just a real good doc main, I don’t know why I succeed other than I do. But anyway, my most proud moment was 4K-ing a P3 squadette with 4 BNP’s. This was before the doc cube. I have no clue how I did it. I was sweating bullets the whole time. It was perfectly fair to be given a hell of a time though, as they spent 4 ultra rares

OR instead of making all your decisions based on killer benefit, simply buff the perks themselves that are weak, ON BOTH SIDES, and maybe fix the core gameplay issues.

So all killers' perks and some of survivors? Deal. But remember, that killers' perks need to be 4 times better than survivors'.

Most already do. Example, predator does 3 seconds, so does lightweight, but predater effects everyone. There are a few killer perks that aren’t in the 4x loop, but most are. They need to be buffed, not because they don’t 4x, but the perk itself is just bad.

• And third seal would just overly punish solo survivors, who have a stat survival rate of 30%. It would t effect SWF either, so this is a bad idea
