Sitting in the lobby or menus overheats my PS5 significantly, not only that, but there is always a small amount of lag when choosing survivors/killers and equipping or unequipping items and perks. Console menus really need some polishing up.

Everything lags on all menus on my Series X too. Was even worse on the ol' venerable Xbox1. It's well known the optimization of DBD is quite poor.

I recall those on the various PS4's saying their machines sounded like propeller planes taking off!

This game is trash officially. Sorry, this needs to be posted. The gen speeds are outrageous and the survivors have way too much going for them. This used to feel balanced, it makes no sense anymore. Chase for more than 30 seconds, you’re cooked. How is that logical? Devs are failing this game, usage is down dramatically. Surviving should be extremely difficult, all 4 surviving is happening way too often and if you think it’s skill, try me and you’ll end up like every other survivor who tried me in a custom game lol

If I can make it work with my beloved Piggly Wiggly c'mon fam so can you! 🐷🐽

Yeah comms would wreck any mimic killer idea.

iirc it is disabled on xbox because of rules set in place by microsoft. It was coded in and available to xbox initially, but microsoft said no so xbox players cannot hide their profiles from other xbox players they match with.

@jmwjmw27 is correct those on any Xbox cannot use their Anonymous Mode.

When it first rolled out to the consoles it was active on Xbox for like two weeks. Apparently yeah the way it was coded did violate some of Microsoft guidelines. It was then removed, and they said it won't be returning. 😑

  • The main driving force behind changing the Map offerings was to limit the advantage of certain maps for a particular role. I'd rather they tweak maps more to deal with issues, but this is the route they took.

A necessary casualty of all this is killer map-dependant builds, and no doubt Myers took the biggest hit. But this speaks more to his add-ons needing changes.

  • @OnryosTapeRentals said:

No. People used to be able to mod DbD and unsurprisingly people used it to give themselves huge advantages.

how would the game even know you are on comms with someone? This might work for say, two people on the same platform (but would they have permission or access to data to confirm such?)

I play with friends on voice chat sometimes but I use discord on my phone (I play handheld on a steamdeck so it’s super faffy trying to set up through the deck and much easier on my mobile app). I can’t imagine a world where BHVR or the game can somehow detect I’m in a game - not without some CIA level of tracking technology.

There's absolutely no way for DBD to know who's on comms or not, especially on the consoles where it's built-in and separate from whatever game(s) being played. So this suggestion would just be a blanket anyone teamed up gets hit with the CI effect.

  • @rvzrvzrvz said:

Probably not I like the fast queue but one thing they could try is no lobby. You select your loadout > > click play > > load in game, no lobby dodging= better matchmaking because autofill ignores matchmaking rules and then you get 10k hour player in a baby lobby. The lobby is what causes a lot of downtime

I too would like to see that tested out. I've long believed that the lobby dodging and shopping around causes most of the gross mismatches.

  • It's popular because any experience level benefits from it.

Rookies use it to learn tiles and spawns. Solos get to know what resources remain. Intermediates can extend chases further. And veterans combine all that to expertly waste as much time as possible.

  • I imagine they post primarily to Twitter because it's more used still than any other platform.

Since the recent changes, I suspect that the game glorifies violence, especially when perpetrated by the player (Mori). Some people don't mind this. Others are bothered by the fact that an unlikely situation has become much more likely.

A censored yet brutal scene from the film “American History X” once became reality in Germany in 2002.

In my view, it seems right to integrate possibilities into the game to defuse this situation.

Those who reject such an idea will have their reasons. I even suspect that some enjoy knowing that their opponent has to witness the situation. And that worries me.

I don't want Dead by Daylight to be seen in this light: an act of violence in reality that can be traced back to DBD – just because someone wanted to experience it in real life.

Aaannnnndddddddd none of that answers my question.

It shouldn't matter since people would be queuing up for the mode as a whole, not for one role or the other. You don't need 1 killer and 4 survivors at the same skill level, you just need 5 players at roughly the same skill level.

I get what you're trying to set up, something like Friday the 13th did for lobbies.

However, there's still the unfortunately too high number of players who do not touch one role or the other, and they wouldn't enter this mode. Sadly that alone will deter lots of players.

I don't think they've ever released role breakdown of players globally, but in US East region the queue bonus is pretty much locked for killer all day every day. But I wish we had stats for it.

  • @ratcoffee said:

    Solo queue only

Everyone picks a killer and perk loadout.

The killer pool is shown (optional, not sure this would be a good idea but lets people counterpick a bit)

Everyone chooses a survivor build (can adjust to adapt to the killer pool)

One person is chosen to be killer at random. Roll is weighted towards people who have not played killer in a while.

Just imagine the queue times for this, with around half of all survs just gone.

Same perk limit on a 4 man swf can help to adjust this scenarios, but I guess we can just nerf franklin's. Maybe also show the killer that he is playing against 4 man in pre game lobby, but nah lets just nerf Kaneki for the 3rd time. Really hope that all killer players would switch to ghoul/blight/nurse or just leave the game because the devs clearly dont want killer players to enjoy the game.

They're made it abundantly clear that they want players to run what they like. You're also talking about the smallest portion of survs that make up the quads.

This wouldn't work for PlayStation or XBox. There's a reason why test servers/test builds are for PC. "But Open Betas!" Those are different. Yes, the idea of having more people in there is noble, but it would be an issue to deal with Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo to get the PTB up on consoles. I do not blame them for that decision.

PTB does need some changes. A lot of people see the PTB as "early access to the new chapter" and not "a version of the game meant to test out and fine tune changes before the build goes live." However, these last 2 PTBs have felt like the devs ignored a lot of the feedback that came out of the PTBs.

Both Minecraft and DayZ have "experimental" versions available on Xbox, so it would be possible just requires work. I bet the PlayStations have something similar, and Epic also is left out on PC.

I do agree it does seem lots of feedback recently for the PTB's wasn't been taken into account as it should.

There's a new achievement for repairing a gen on the new map (Fallen Refuge) and escaping. I have played at least 60 survivor matches since the The Walking Dead chapter, and I have gotten the map zero times. I didn't even try to use the map offering because:

    • 20% of success is worthless
    • even if it works, the map offering for the realm can send me to any of the 4 maps
    • sac wards still completely nullifies map offerings, even though their success rate is abysmall low, and the reward of getting a specific map is too small

This achievement needs to be changed. I just can't get the map. And even if by some miracle I finally get it somehow, good luck with escaping in solo q. I feel like I would have more luck winning the lottery.

You should not have created this achievement after gutting map offerings. Also, why is the map now showing up? Also, no special queue for the map (which you said you'd do starting with the FNAF chapter), no boosted rates for the map.

oh i know, ima still dodge tho. heck, i dodge lobbies if i know im a back fill too xdd dodge until i find a team of peolpe who im familiar with/who look competent.

all anon players and bloody prestige outfits also get dodged ! just is what it is, they could lower the minute queue to like 15s rather than a min tho i wouldnt mind shorter queue time.

That just sounds like pushing what you think is a problem onto other players, and wrecking the matchmaking at the same time.

How can we bash the devs for matchmaking being so bad if we're actively destroying it by dodging lobbies? Their system isn't even being given a chance to work.

please no. i have a memorised list of people who i dodge regularly becasue they throw or give up at 5 and this would mean i no longer get to dodge them xdd

I get your frustrations, however it badly messes up their matchmaking system whenever players dodge. Because the community always says quicker queues instead of quality trials the backfilling issues worse with each dodge.

  • @exDbd said:

this needs to be 10 seconds. You readied up you are ready there is no need for a lobby to take a whole minute just because one person decided not to ready up. So much time wasted just waiting

I'd like to see them test out no lobbies at all, just find appropriate players and load into the trial. I think this would greatly strengthen their matchmaking system with all the dodging and shopping and basically sniffing around for "preferred" opponents gone.

  • @WeaverReaver42 said:

I know I am probably too late to have this heard- but I genuinely think using the PTB TWICE before bringing anything to Live.

It would grant you more chances to find bugs, some of which you might not have found in normal testing. I understand that you have limited time to do things- but that's why the PTB is useful. We can test the more niche interactions and normal gameplay while you can focus on the fundamentals of the programming.

For an example of what I mean: Just do one PTB for initial "hey, we bug tested- now you're our stress test" and then another before launch that they can get to working on stuff BEFORE it hits live and reduce time wasted waiting for learn about the bugs.

Literally a single PTB extra and you will have gained WAY MORE time and data to work with just by sheer volume of PTB players.

(You could also add incentives such as a charm for the PTB for each new chapter. 1st PTB no longer going? You can get the cosmetic for helping figure this stuff out by playing a few games in the SECOND PTB- and show the community you've done your part!)

How about having more platforms participating in the PTB? More eyeballs more testing more data!

  • @Lixadonna said:

Dedicated Server disconnects should not count.

Their system doesn't differentiate between why a player loses connection, and applies the penalty the same way each time. Otherwise it would be open to abuse, as players could simply pull a chord out or dashboard etc. to maneuver around penalties.

Also I've never been convinced they themselves know what their servers are actually doing! 🤪🤣

I feel like linking game accounts wouldn't do much because you can play anonymously and blocking players in game is dependant on you meeting them in game. You also can't block blokes easily here, but that's beyond the point. Game stats, however, would be incredibly funny for the strict purpose of seeing who says "I play both roles" when they mean "I played a bit of Huntress for a collective amount of 20 hours over the past 3 years" and also so when I say you shouldn't use WoO people can see I don't use WoO.

If trolls get banned relatively quickly, they'll be dissuaded from making new accounts, resulting in less throwaways. It also results in all 4 guys on the forum who post "do not the troll" posting that less.

Those of us on Xbox cannot even use their Anonymous Mode

  • It's somewhat useful for trends I'd say, but yeah a very small sample size indeed.

Being self-reported that alone opens it up to picking and choosing what to upload or not. It's only in English and unlikely to be used my those on console so it'll always lack global reach. This is illustrated by the perk usage of Self Care, which the devs always show as among the most run but Nightlight does not, as in some regions it's insanely used.

  • How would this work with the chainsaw bros?

  • The pitchforks and torches had no lasting affects I hope! 🤪

  • The root of most "us vs. them" stuff I believe is from people not playing both roles at least to a competent level. This creates a lack of empathy for what the side opposite their preferred role has to deal with in matches.

And it can be compounded by echo chambering the same things over and over too.

  • @Ragna_Rock said:

When it comes to the balance of DBD a lot of what is made is with the though of soloq people who cannot communicate with each other while people who play together can use a 3rd party software to communicate with each other.

This has led to a massive imbalance as being able to share info as quickly and precisely was not an intended feature of the game and made playing against people like this frustrating as anything the killer did could be relayed to the rest of the squad with no need for a perk or any down sides allowing for more altruistic plays at the right time with little gen time lost for much better gain as well as being able to cut down on time lost due to confusion.

This game was originally a hide and seek horror game so it made sense then to not have comms but now it is much more competitive due to MMR, hiding just not being that great anymore and a generally more competitive atmosphere than it used to.

So I would say that adding comms so that when future balance discussions are had it can be taken into account people are always communicating with each other as an expectation as having essentially two different worlds of balance is not good as people from both worlds are going to pull the balance in two directions.

An example of this is shoulder the burden in a soloq world it is not great as you need to be able to coordinate with your team to a degree to pull it off well while in SWF this perk is broken as it can reduce killer pressure massively and effectively make a killer tunnel backfire drastically.

Then there are the soloq band-aid perks that would not longer be needed like bond, kindred or empathy.

And before you say it there are more people playing SWF 3-4 man than you think is not some small amount a lot of people like to play with there friends and should not be punished but the imbalance cant be ignored either so I think adding comms would be the best compromise. (And if you want data unfortunately behaviour do not give this any more since they first added SWF to the game but from the one data bit they did give and if you have a chance to check profiles they are more common than you think)

(Could just add lights out as the dedicated spooky mode in its place)

They've said many times over the years they have no plans to addi in comms. The reasons they've given are language barriers globally and the availability of things like Discord and the built-in comms most of the consoles already have.

Like others have stated above, I too think they just don't want that moderation nightmare.

  • I think they're sarcastically meaning the current versions already in use. 😊

I wish BHVR actually listened and brought back the old flicks. It made him infinitely more fun to play as and against. I don't get why people want it gone, cause it's a "bug" or whatever. He didn't need the nerf. His controller stuff should be tweaked by itself.

I seriously doubt they can make any changes to Oni's turning just for one input device. Not with their coding and history with it.

  • @MaddieMage said:

I keep reading conflicting stuff so I just want to clarify: People running streetwise and actively exploiting the bug, should we report them in game for that or is that not bannable?

This post is not to attack or flame any of the devs for whatever decisions are being made. I’m just asking whether or not I should report this or not so we don’t false report people for stuff that’s not actionable.

Since they stated today Streetwise isn't Killswitch worthy, I don't see them banning for abusing it. So reporting for it wouldn't be applicable.

  • If you mean the surv party size that's from 2019 dev stats, which I think is the last time they put out such numbers. I do wish we got updated ones, but I don't see why it would be drastically different now globally.

If you're referring to surv breakdown, it's something like 52% roughly, which was mentioned here last year. I'll look around for it when I'm done working.

It means dropping the Switch 1 software and porting the current gen over., The hardware to play it on good setting is possible for even a steam deck.

If you mean DBD abandoning support for Switch 1 then they cannot do that yet. The way it works with Live Service games is they have to continue to support the platform until the console maker (in this case Nintendo) officially stops their support, or DBD no longer physically runs on the platform.

I'm not sure what you meant by "good setting" as none of the consoles have a "performance mode" when it comes to DBD. They cannot even change the graphics setting (low, high, ultra etc ) like those on PC can.

For me personally, the switch has been pretty challenging but also fun, I feel like I’m relearning how to play the game again and it’s honestly fun and frustrating at the same time. I’ve been playing dbd since late 2017 on and off and I’ve always been a console gamer, I have about 4K hours on this game and I would say I’m pretty strong killer and survivor on controller. My first day on KB&M was so horrible, I genuinely felt bad for my teammates and I would laugh at how garbage I was , I struggled with everything, looking back, looping, simply just running, etc… Picking up killer came pretty easily for me though, especially for huntress and nurse, it just felt right using your mouse to aim your hatchets and blink. Day 2 was pretty decent I started to figure out what inputs felt comfortable to me, it looked weird and maybe janky but it worked for me. I still wasn’t great in chase and at times I wanted to pick up my controller but I genuinely wanted to get better so I continued playing. Day 3 felt really good, I practiced my movements in the tutorial/survive with bots and it helped a TON with survivor movements. I lasted longer in chase and even managed to get a few flashlight saves which felt really good. Everything wasn’t perfect though, hugging loops and camera control didn’t come easy for me and I wasn’t completely used to using space bar for dropping pallets and vaulting but I just need to get used to it. I’ve now made up my mind that I’m fully switching over to kb&m, if anyone else is reading this and are also switching over to kb&m I would recommend that you use the tutorials to practice looping, hugging walls, or just doing the objective, because it helps out a LOT. One last thing I have to say is don’t be discouraged if it takes you some time to figure everything out and DON’T pick up the controller it’s about improving so don’t use the controller as your crutch.

Even those on PC usually play surv with a controller. It's playing killer where the differences are stark.
