The only reason I could think of that it doesn't have a seperate showcase queue, even though they said this would be the case going forward, is because Fallen Refuge was never supposed to be a map. It went from 'just a tile that spawns when playing against or as Michonne/Rick' to 'no it'll actually spawn whenever' (because of obvious backlash) to 'spawning only on Withered Isle maps' to 'REALM EXPANSION' (a term that until now had never been used before), which ended up meaning a new map, even though the roadmap did not make any mention of it. The map as it appeared on PTB seemed unfinished, a rush job. And the actual live iteration ain't much better.

Long story short, not even the devs knew what the heck they were doing xD.

Yeah, looking back at the roadmap for this year, TWD chapter didn't have "new map" listed, like the FNAF and November chapters. It REALLY looks like it was supposed to be an altered jungle gym tile, and the players (understandably) saw it as a step into pay2win territory. We're in Year 10 of this game. Why should Survivor choice lead to in game changes? Sure, Dracula brings Castlevania with him, but that's outside the map.

  • Binding of Kin is still the worst state the game itself has ever been. But I don't think the community or morale have ever been lower. The devs are not in a good place right now. Sure, there's a laundry list of issues with the game, but the devs sure as hell are not making the right calls.

With how high up there this IP was in demand, seeing the game being treated like this, after THE HIGHEST PLAYER NUMBERS WE'VE SEEN, we're here. The fact that they couldn't even get the story straight about the map this chapter is upsetting. Until something is said, I genuinely believe that Fallen Refuge was a unique tile for Rick and Michonne, like we were originally told. It wasn't until after people started making Pay to Win accusations that the story changed as the team came out saying "no, it'll appear on Withered isle, only" "No, it'll be on any map, regardless of Survivors picked" And it's just a new map. In Withered Isle. But go look at the Year 10 Road map. No map was mentioned for this chapter. They slapped it together and threw an achievement on it. That's why there was no map queue.

Despite being told "Yeah, starting with the FIve Nights at Freddy's chapter, all new maps will be featured in a map queue so players will have the ability to check it out." And we never got it. Per DBD's Twitter account on July 31st, "We've boosted the Map weight for the Fallen Refuge for the next week to give players more opportunities to test out the new Map!" I've only seen this map 3 times since the chapter release. I have used up God near, ALL of my Ichorus Loam offerings. WHY IS THERE AN ACHIEVEMENT FOR THIS THING, WHEN IT'S PICK RATE IS SO LOW?

How about having more platforms participating in the PTB? More eyeballs more testing more data!

This wouldn't work for PlayStation or XBox. There's a reason why test servers/test builds are for PC. "But Open Betas!" Those are different. Yes, the idea of having more people in there is noble, but it would be an issue to deal with Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo to get the PTB up on consoles. I do not blame them for that decision.

PTB does need some changes. A lot of people see the PTB as "early access to the new chapter" and not "a version of the game meant to test out and fine tune changes before the build goes live." However, these last 2 PTBs have felt like the devs ignored a lot of the feedback that came out of the PTBs.

The sad thing is, even before this Walking Dead chapter - The FNAF chapter wasn't integrated properly what with bugs such as invisible Springtrap and door cams messing up audio.

It does make you question if they care about their product and service or are just trying to milk us as much as possible until we inevitably leave

The game is not in a good state, but need to acknowledge that the devs can't push back release windows on licensed content. When signing the paperwork a date, or release window needs to be given. Missing that would lead to legal issues.

Now that being said, we've had a LOT of licensed content over the last two years. Most of the Survivors and Killers have been licensed. In retrospect, Doomed Course should have been pushed back. If at all possible, the September chapter should be cut and a code refactor should be done. This game is running on code from 2017, and needs a clean parse.

I understand the devs can only do so much at once, but the game has not been in this bad of a state since Binding of Kin. With Michonne's voice lines, I can hear the audio engineer giving notes. That's not an analogy, I can here the man speaking in the audio file. Refusing to throw the Kill Switch on Streetwise, the DDOS attack on the stream, outright refusing Otz's advice on how to solve the problem…like come on, that's not even a code thing, that's just bad decision making.

I'm being thrown back to Korea 2017 here. "Flash light insta-blinds aren't that big of a deal…" 5 Gens, 2 successful hits, and 8 instant blinds would lead to a patch a month later removing faster blinds from flashlights. Hearing "the devs need to update their game" in order to fill the spectator slots is maddening. I always thought "the devs don't even play the game" was a hyperbolic statement by butthurt whiny fans, but no, it's true. Obviously I don't expect the devs to spend the better part of a day playing the game instead of working. But like…2 hours a week wouldn't hurt.

Yes, a lot of complaints about the game are "Buff my favorite character/perk!" "Nerf this killer that I hate!" "Add more cosmetics to a licensed killer!" "Add this license to the game!" But when you disregard all player input as "whines from low skill players" you're actively ignoring your audience.

Thank you, but I was also there when the confusion was going on. I just want a comment from the devs about what happened. But this entire chapter is a cluster #########. They need to revert Offering changes or give fallen refuge It's own iffering. It doesn't make sense that Dvarka maps get their own offerings, but Refuge needs to share with 3 others

  • Killers should be able to equip perks. They already have Powers, they're too oppressive. Some perks even synergize with Killer powers

Maybe just keep your eyes on the door then so that he doesn't surprise you, rather than whining for a nerf.

Oh yeah, of course, I should set up a second viewport in game aimed at the door around the corner. "Just look at the tiny panel" so when the door is facing away from the generator, or it's behind a wall/jungle gym corner, I guess that's MY fault for not IP tracing the Killer's packets allowing me to know when that door is going to silently fly open.

Sure, Dredge has silent teleports, but at least they need to spend tokens. Sadako has TVs that shut off when she uses them for a period of time, and there's a mapwide SFX. Demo ALSO has a mapwide SFX, with a silent exit, but there's counterplay. Animatronic is the only teleporting killer with no cooldowns/counterplay.

Oh did your TWENTY seconds of undetectable run out? Just hop back in a door! No need to actually walk through the security office, just walk in and out! Wraith WISHES he had something like this.

  • Eh, I just see it as new Chapter jank. Stuff like this happens everytime a new killer comes out. It's 9 year old code, and they're altering stuff that hasn't been touched in a while, so there's going to be some bumps and bruises for a bit. If you're taking a break, I'd say come back when the Masquerade starts.

  • I'm gonnna be honest here, I actually preferred how his doors spawned in the PTB. I liked not having every door right next to a gen, like Onryo and Xenomorph. I think it would be fine if he just had the door and camera system as it is now, without the axe. But with it, he has too much going on. Sure, Vecna has 4 spells, but all of those have decently long cooldowns. This guys gets has axe back real quick, and can use doors as much as he wants.

  • I want to give some feedback on The Animatronic, but looking through this thread, it looks to be a bunch of moaning, whining, and people who think game dev is just waving a wand at your screen, and that fixes the issue.

For the most part, this killer is pretty fun to play as and against! But I do feel he is a bit too strong here and there and could use a bit of fine tuning. Firstly, the axe. Conceptually, I think it's fine. Unlike Huntress, he can't charge it, and he only gets the one. But it feels like he gets it back too quickly. Like on miss, you just need to wait 5 seconds and it's back. When his power was first revealed, I thought he would need it walk over to his axe and pick it up. But, no, you get it back mid-chase. It could really use like…a 10 sec cooldown? Nothing crazy, but this could add more to leaving the axe in the environment.

Secondly, 20 seconds of Undetectable after leaving a door is quite a bit. There's no cooldown on the doors, or visual/audio signifier that he's camping a door. If Dredge is in a locker for too long, survivors can see particles coming from the locker. There's also some inconsistency with The Animatronic, when compared to other teleporting Killers. First and foremost, he can can teleport the moment the trial starts. Nightmare and Onryo both have to wait a bit before warping, why doesn't he? And on top of this, unlike Onryo and Freddy, there's no visual or audio indicator that Aniomatronic is teleporting.

He has undetectable while walking through the office, plus the door opening is quiet, AND he has 20 seconds of Undetectable afterwards? If Security Guard's badge is equipped, that's an additional 10 seconds. So he gets a silent teleport, with no cool down, available frame 1, with a quite reveal, 20 seconds of no terror radius, AND A PROJECTILE ATTACK.

I thought this guy wasn't supposed to be a stealth killer? I'm not saying to remove his undetectable door entry, but it could use a serious toning down. And I know there's an argument about this being balanced because the Survivors can use the office too, but the fact that he can just sit inside a door all game, not walking through the office, grabs a Survivor it really de-incentivizes using the office.

I understand this is the cash cow character. Keep him powerful until the free weekend is done and the Sale windows are closed. But once you have everyone's money, PLEASE tone him down just a tad.

  • First: THIS IS NOT A RELAXING GAME

This is a SURVIVAL HORROR GAME. If you want to play a game to relax to, play Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, a Yoshi game, Balaatro, you have options, this is not that.

Second: As somebody who's play time is 70% killer, this is a skill issue.

Yeah, competent Survivors will know how to play the game. Yeah, missing your M2's will set you back a bit, that's always been how the game has been. You need to be aware of what perks the survivors have, learning as you play the match.

You're sounding like the guy who wanted to get clips in Call of Duty, lobby stomping terminally ill kids.

    Four7B_acAExv5d.jpg

You're not going to be handed 4k game after 4k game. You will come across capable Survivors who are TRYING TO SURVIVE.

  • I have this issue sometimes as well. Do you happen to have a multi-monitor setup?

  • I'm trying to give my thoughts on the new PTB and I keep getting:

CommentModel::getDiscussionThreadOffset(): Argument #1 ($commentRowOrCommentID) must be of type object|array|int, string given, called in /applications/vanilla/controllers/class.postcontroller.php on line 952

I wrote out my thoughts in detail and now it's gone.
