How dare you nerf me!? My programming is absolute perfection.

No seriously it's ok, I respect your comments. Though many would say my most recent buffs have left me in a 'good position'. A bit easier to control but at the same time maintaining a good skill ceiling/floor. Though I myself can't imagine being played well on a controller.

You haven't tried with a controller? Please do and let the class know of your findings...

If you are playing against a good singularity, he is incredibly oppressive. He has some counterplay but some of that counterplay is pretty counter to what survivors will do against most killers

    - Do not attempt to pallet stun him. If he teleports to you and you try to drop a pallet on him while he is overcharged it will instabreak the pallet and he gets to hit you instantly for free.

    - you cant rely on pallets in general. He chews through pallets so fast when he is overcharged that pre dropping wont help much. You wont gain nearly as much distance as you think you will. If you pre drop and the singularity is able to predict it and teleport to you, it will instabreak the pallet and give him a free hit before you can even move. Pre dropping can be very risky.

    - gaining distance during a chase rarely helps that much because he can just teleport right behind you. This shuts down some window loops too.

    - You have to know when to EMP and use LoS to avoid getting tagged by slipstream. There is just no other way around it.

    - Singularity is kind of map dependant. I feel he does a lot better on the outdoor maps.

First time I tried him I went to Lery's πŸ˜•

Theoretically wouldn't every killer be a noob stomper?

Absolutely true, but some killer powers are even more so. The more complicated their kit the more noob you stomp.

Pinhead and Singy and my beloved Piggly Wiggly are such examples because they have several different aspects to their powers for rookies to deal with. Trapper or Wraith for instance are simpler to understand.

  • @KayTwoAyy said:

I've been seeing an increasing number of Singularity players lately. Quite curious to know what players on both sides of the aisle think about this Killer.

    β€”

Denied Requisition Form (Survivors start infected) appears to be a must-pick for the Killers I've faced. Seems like it provides a strong early game for a Killer already known for a strong late game.

From what I've seen, he is a huge noob stomper.
With perks like Hex: Plaything and Hex: Pentimento, he can slow the mid-game to a painful crawl as Survivors juggle totems, 3D printing, deactivating cameras, and going down in chase quickly (for those unfamiliar with it's power).

Unfortunately, I feel that if I saw this Killer every 3rd of 4th game I would tire of them very quickly. Their lockdown and game delay makes for a dull afair. Counterplay seems to be playing slow and safe.

Despite his last round of changes he still feels clunky and unresponsive with a controller. The frustration of the tiniest branch or leaf blocking shots remains.

One problem with sanity checks is that cheaters can force cheats on innocent players. If there were sanity checks, then cheaters could get innocent people banned on demand. Sucks, I know.

Yeah I know, which is why the video proof is required as well. I think everyone can agree that a trail replay system would be so invaluable for tons of reasons, not just reporting stuff. Maybe in a potential DBD2?

It's extremely satisfying, but I do not really go for them.

My sensitivity is also incredibly high (100%) on console so it takes a little practice with myself and flashlights.

I don't even really use them in all honesty, especially with how common Lightborne is β€” but it is satisfying to do anything with the flashlight for sure. πŸ˜… I know some people think flashlighting at a pallet wastes time or distance, but eh I disagree.

I only mess around with the sensitivity when I run Huntress or wish to punish myself trying Trickster or Singularity again. Say 70%. Otherwise it's full blast 100. The input delay and deadzones in the sticks are much more of a problem imo for those who want to get gud.

  • @BurnedTerrormisu said:

    It depends.

Obvious cheaters are banned within 12 hours of the support report. On weekends or public holidays it takes a little longer.

Subtle cheaters sometimes take several days to get banned. My guess is the video gets reviewed by multiple people or professionals that can tell the difference between ping, game or server issues before any action is taken.

Server based anti cheat checks would be nice because I don't think they exist.

They do not, sadly the servers do not look for any "sanity checks" at all.

I really wish BHVR would make a public announcement that achievements and trophies will never ever take priority over game balance decisions.

I don't think most players are even aware that they simply cannot change them until they become completely unattainable.

Yes, I do think MMR has definitely pushed more efficient gameplay. Even I do that myself in my own games, but I still find fun in things that I do.

I don't belittle others and I'm always giving a helping hand to my friends with lower hours. So, I typically am a bit considerate and don't expect everything to go as planned, things happen, misplays occur, it's a game at the end of the day. 😊

I for the love of God cannot get flashbang saves, at best what you'll get from me is just dropping a flashbang when the killer is kicking a pallet. I could practice, but I am not generally a person who typically goes for flashy saves - I can count on one hand the amount of times I've flashlight saved. πŸ˜‚ Not because I miss, but because I just don't find myself in situations to get them, once I am (not planned at all) I can pull them off but nothing flashbang related. I'm not a Background Player user over here. πŸ˜” I'm more chase oriented and gen efficient than anything else and I'm constantly learning obviously. πŸ˜…

I have exactly zero flashy saves ever 🀣

  • I believe they're very intent on keeping that 4% chance mechanic, and will try pretty much everything else first and only as a lost resort will finally ditch it.

Part of the reason no doubt is all the connected game elements that would have to be messed with in doing so. The time and resources that would be needed to do that is not negligible, and then there's the problem of related challenges and in particular Achievements and Trophy's.

  • @CautionaryMary said:

Surprisingly, I remember being in red ranks and people actually knowing to pressure gens and not be overly altruistic lol.

I kinda wish people in my MMR would be more like that versus let's go get Mary and throw the game basically.

But it was definitely more of a mixed bag than anything.

Same for when I play at times with my friend, we'll get cracked teammates that are very good and then other times I'll get survivors where they don't look behind themselves, I'll take a protection hit, and they just throw the pallet and dome me causing me to die for helping like lol....

I will add that I do like the MMR changes because when I play by MYSELF, I get good teammates and I've made many friends from playing as I get grouped with players with thousands of hours.

When I play with others (less hours than me), it's just a mixed bag. It sucks in a way, either play solo-queue by myself and get great teammates (for the most part) or I duo queue and have a Taurie with no self awareness and throwing a pallet onto my Dwight for trying to do a protection hit, lmfao.

I too met several good peeps back then, which added to the fun. A few were super good, their skill allowing for things like being able to repeatedly lose the killer and timely flashlight saves. These were by no means simple in pre- dedicated servers days with controllers either. Rocking KYF was really fun, and kept us from slacking on the killer side. Still friends with some of them, but practically none play DBD anymore.

I often ponder why they left and what feels so different now, and I think it's both MMR and the push to efficient everything about the gameplay. Prolly why 2v8 and especially Chaos Shuffle have its appeal as they're more a mess overall.

I understand that it's not easy and not only up to them, but it has happened before (to be fair, I can only remember it happening once, when Hatch spawns got changed, and it was exceptional because it was going to become unobtainable), and I honestly think this achievement is a problem in the game. It incentivizes survivors to bring offerings to a map most people don't like (and I still see this happen every now and then), then to play in a way that garantees that THEY are the ones that open the exit gates, potentially leading them to open it too soon, and discourages them to risk themselves for teammates in the endgame.

I don't disagree with your assessment, but you hit the nail on the head: unattainable. It has to become that to be changed.

I think achievements like that are just something that's meant as a long term goal rather than something to speedrun in a weekend. It's kinda like how you can TECHNICALLY rush through the Huntress 1000 hatchet achievement by chucking hatchets at a wall as soon as you load in til the survivors leave, or you could also just...play Huntress for awhile.

People don't recognize the power of acknowledging both sides β€” obviously, I have my biases as I play more survivor but I try to be more nuanced and balanced and I don't think too much on the killer side is OP other than slugging against solo-queue.

I don't care for Pain Resonance, Pop, Lethal, BBQ and Chili, or whatever other meta perks killers use because I can work around them as I see them all the time. On the flip side, people cannot accuse me of some meta survivor or someone who utilizes Windows of Opportunity as I don't use it. I see the value in it as a new player and solo-queue person, but I like to have more build variety and I have memorized loop tiles and can loop due to simply having eyes -- I don't need Windows of Opportunity because I'm constantly looking for pallets as I'm in a chase and flicking my camera around, I don't need WOO to prolong my chase.

I've never run Windows either! πŸ˜‚

  • @Malkhrim said:

I liked the Map Offering value change, it was much needed, but I still think it brings a problem to the rare times it is not used to sweat, but to make a specific build viable or do a specific challenge. Usually this cases are just killers with stealth builds (most maps in the game suck for killer stealth) or survivors with balanced landing, possibly trying to do a "fall from a great height" challenge, but sometimes they might also bring an RPD offering for the Outbreak Breakout achievement (come on BHVR, just change this achievement already, it's awful and even after it has been completed by you, it still incentivizes other players to bring map offerings).

Most of these uses aren't in such a bad spot with the change. Like, if a survivor with Balanced Landing doesn't get the map they wanted, most maps have some spot where that perk can be used anyway, it just becomes more situational. Being unable to complete the challenge in a map suck, but you can always use another offering and try again the next match. Stealth builds kinda suck on outdoor maps and even some of the indoor maps, but a killer with a stealth build can still play normally even when the map doesn't allow them to get that much value from the build itself, and the new map offerings still increases the chance they get a favorable map. I've been playing with a stealth Bubba build without map offerings for some time, and as much as the map can get in the way often, a stealth Bubba on an open field is still a Bubba.

But there is one kinda popular build that gets ruined by this change, and that's Jumpscare Myers. Scratched Mirror is the only add-on in the game that makes your killer unviable in any outdoor map, unless the survivors make many mistakes. Even if you use Play With Your Food to compensate for the loss of speed, you still have a really short lunge and can't get bloodlust. It can be strong in specific indoor maps, at least against survivors who aren't used to playing against it, and the new map offerings will at least increase your chance of getting that, but if you get unlucky and end up on an outdoor map, you are garanteed to have not only a loss, but a really bad game where you are completely powerless unless you go against really bad survivors.

So can this add-on, or maybe even T1 Myers at base-kit, get some buffs to compensate for this? Perhaps making the Boyfriend's Memo add-on base-kit? Or adding a lunge increase to Scratch Mirror as well? Giving bloodlust back to T1 Myers? Or slightly increasing his base-kit speed? The real solution would be for Scratched Mirror increase the value of offerings, but I don't think an add-on that interacts with offerings was ever done before (Black Ward and White Ward are the opposite, offerings that interact with add-ons), so that would probably be too weird for the game's design.

    Opinions? Suggestions?

You mention that achievement for Outbreak Breakout.

What has to be kept in mind is the near-impossibility of them ever changing any Trophy or Achievement. So long as it is still able to be achieved Sony and Microsoft and Nintendo resist mightily any changes at all.

I think sometimes they don't think those achievements through completely, knowing they're very much locked in once released.

Go for marathon is wild. πŸ˜‚

What do you want the survivor to do? See the killer approach at a distance, stand at the gen, point at it, look up, and say, dear killer, don't tunnel me and go down? Like, lol. Of course a survivor seeing a killer will move and properly set themselves up to loop, do you want survivors to load in and die?? I wouldn't say there isn't any skill attached to tunneling and slugging, I employ the same tactics as well. Hence, why I typically have a more nuanced opinion of it, tunneling and slugging has specific things to buy the killer time.

However, there are smart ways to employ it, while there are not so smart ways to employ it.

It doesn't take much skill if you're tunneling off rip and focusing on the weakest link to get rid of. Personally, I don't do it unless the survivors are playing in a very specific way.

Bringing multiple toolboxes and the only gen regression I had at the time was Corrupt Intervention on Legion? I slugged and did pressure, easily 4ked on The Game.

I had a game on Decimated Borgo against a SWF that brought hatch offerings and tried to flashlight save many times, I slugged the third, closed hatch, and killed the fourth with the team reporting me, lol (it was a Twitch user).

It is very easy to 4k, but tunneling and slugging are not primary tactics I use as sometimes focusing out people is not the best play, you need to focus on your gens and make sure that you spread that around.

If you're mindlessly tunneling off hook, gens are flying, that's on the killer for not properly defending their gens.

I don't need to tunnel, camp, or slug when I play killer β€” simply playing and just having general knowledge of playing survivor (I play survivor a lot, which helps me as a killer), map awareness, and choice of perks can easily hand you a 3k/4k.

Players often underestimate the value of playing both roles at least to a competent level. Not only does it make you better at the side you prefer playing, but it greatly increases the understanding of what others have to deal with, automatically increasing empathy.

  • @karlach said:

The console version of DBD has two problems. The first is that it takes a long time to open the game! I play on PS5 and it's the only game that takes at least a minute to start, which is absurd in 2025. But the main problem is how long it takes to find matches when crossplay is disabled. Being in control and playing against people using a mouse is terrible! Those on the computer have a huge advantage. When crossplay is disabled, it's practically impossible to find matches... I had stopped playing dbd YEARS ago because of this problem, but it persists.

I agree with the load times being super long, it takes almost two minutes to get to the select surv or select killer rosters, which indeed is embarrassing in 2025. And I'm on an Xbox series X.

The issue with CrossPlay is another matter. How it works now is players that turn CrossPlay off are isolated not only all other platforms but their own too who still have it on. Which is practically everyone by default.

So players like you on a PS5 who turn it off would now only be matched with others on a PS5 who also have it turned off. None on a PS4 at all, nor any other platforms. So a tiny pool of players indeed to pull from.

  • There are times when I'd wish that EGC timer would move faster while all remaining survs are up and unhooked. Playing either role too.

just because most of the players in this game are bad and the average trial is against solo q noobs doesn't mean that we should just ignore the capability of actual good teams to abuse the hell out of the broken tools we keep giving them

That's not how they've been basing their changes. They do primarily consider that average match first and foremost, with some thought to the newbies next. And that mythical high MMR area maybe like fourth or fifth, if at all.

It hasn't been about what's possible but unlikely. It's about attempting to address the most common frustrations most players face.

And how often does all that play out just like that in the average trial? Outside maybe the top 10% of matches it's such a mixed bag or slaughter.

Im certainly gonna be upset that i have to play against more blights, which he does need to be nerfed to maybe 3 rushes and longer cooldowns per rush with other little buffs sprinkled in there. Allow him to use his power no matter his tokens, like wesker, first rush should be infinite until a bump, its just a weaker billy sprint

Still brainstorming ideas for Nurse nerf but thats unrelated to this post

Turn rate killers should likely just have a max degrees per second turn rate thats cannot be bypassed by any means. So no dpi enhancers, cursor sensitivity won't affect the game's camera when you reach the game's cap.

Personally i find all turn rate killers to be really boring, since majority of the time it is just pc players abusing their easier controls and potential exploits because of the high sense

I don't know how they could hard lock turn rates like that effectively, but they'd get a huge backlash for trying to.

Like a lot of people I'm cautiously optimistic about the announced changes, but I'm concerned about BHVR's tendency to try and reinvent the wheel so to speak. They try complex solutions for what seem to be a straightforward goal.

Take the basekit mori example. BHVR had a goal (we'll leave the merits of that aside for the moment), and we started with a radical game overhaul, a year where the idea was likely under discussion, another PTB, before finally getting to what some people had been suggesting from the very beginning: just basekit mori the last survivor.

On the other hand, we have anti-face camp. What did they want to prevent? Face camping. How did they do it? If the killer is around the hook too long, the survivor can just unhook. It was the clear, straightforward way to address what they didn't want to have happen.

I'm worried, and I don't seem to be alone, that we're being given another complex system. I don't think its necessary.

As an example BHVR said: 'most commonly, intentionally failing Skill Checks while on Hook.'*

If this is your most common issue, just remove skill checks for second stage, its not like they are an important part of the game. Or only allow them after a certain amount of time (say 30 seconds). Why put a complex detection system in place when you can just stop the activity outright?

The idea of giving people DC penalties and depips for a system that the game allows seems extremely counterproductive. I get that there might be extreme situations where this is warranted, but in most of these cases, you could just prevent the activity from ever happening.

*Personal note: I think BHVR is really misdiagnosing the problem here. By far the most problematic part isn't survivors dying on their second hook state, its survivors on their first hook, potentially even the first hook of the match, 4%ing down to the second state. That isn't even mentioned when it should be the absolute focus of what they want to solve.

I think they're trying real hard to keep the 4% chance and all the perks, offerings, challenges, and achievements tied into that system.

  • Steam Maintenance Tuesdays went smoothly again for DBD I see.

Hell, with enough effort you can get close-ish to pc level. I've seen a few really good Huntress's, Blight's and Nurse's that I would have bet money on being PC when they were PS5.

The biggest killer you might see a difference in is Trickster. I'd argue he's the hardest to play at a high level on controller since he needs pinpoint adjustments all the time. You might also see some change in killers like Billy and Oni since they have mouse only techs.

All the other killers might go up a percent or two but I doubt it'll be much since most won't change over anyway.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3886594#Comment_3886594

I also wondering if there could be QoL to make controllers less awful. For example, button combinations for…

    1. instant 90 degree turn clockwise
    2. instant 90 degree turn counterclockwise
    3. instant 180 degree turn

I honestly don't know how anyone is supposed to play a teleporting killer like Nurse or Unknown, when it takes SO LONG for a controller to make a 180 degree turn. And trying to use a controller to follow a survivor that wants to "360" around the killer, is SO AWFUL, because we aren't allowed to quickly turn with a controller.

And those tactics can work because of the inherent input delay and stick deadzones that have always needed to be addressed. I often have to stop dead in my tracks and even take a step back when being spun. Not fun.

  • @tjt85 said:

I'm such a hardcore console kid that I use a controller whenever possible, even when playing on my Steam account.

This is honestly one of the few QoL changes that kinda makes me shrug because I don't think a huge number of players will actually take advantage of M&K on console. But I know some people have asked for it, so maybe I'm wrong…

Besides, the only console I play on is the Switch and I'd rather they focus on improving and optimising perfomance instead (and for some of the older platforms as well). Lack of M&K on Switch is the least of its issues.

I feel like it must be possible to make some improvements because Fortnite uses the same engine as DBD and that game runs incredibly well on the Switch, all things considered.

None of those games have DBD's famous unwieldy coding to contend with. Much more demanding games like RD2 run just fine on the older machines, but have trouble digesting this game in particular. So do lower end PC's for that matter.

As for the subject at hand, I don't think they've ever released kill rates by platform across the killers. But I'd love to see them none the less. I imagine it would depend on which killer, like Singularity or the ranged ones needing more precision may be lower. Won't know until we seem them though.

There was a thread recently about it - the argument is, by explicitly creating a system where the game can end immediately when all survivors are slugged, it sends the message to killers "you can get a win by slugging all 4 survivors without ever hooking. In fact we want you to do it, we're adding stuff to make that more obviously and immediately a viable win state." Some people fear the change, rather than being an "anti-slug" change, will lead to more slugging. I personally am assuming there will be more changes than just that, but I can see why people think the "anti-slug" changes will have an opposite effect

Although they did not state so explicitly, I imagine the scoring for bleed outs and their effects on MMR etc. will also need to be adjusted.

  • Its always been a combo of ping and latency.

  • Way more chaotic and fun imo.

First of all you can turn off crossplay, so there's that. And also, raging about Killers having such a "big advantage" because you can't hit skillchecks is an own goal.

Turning off CrossPlay isolates you from every other platform out there, as well as your own if they have CrossPlay still on, as most do. This extends queue times horribly, it can take 45min or more to find a match even at peak times in your region.

It works like this: Say you're on a PS4. You toggle CrossPlay off. Now you cannot matchmake with anyone who has it still on no matter their platform, including your own. You'd only get a lobby with those also only on a PS4 who ALSO have CrossPlay turned off. Small pool indeed.

    Not viable.

  • If the surv drops it directly into your model then that's still silent I believe.
