They are probably aware of how jarring Plague and Clown can be for people with Emetophobia and Coulrophobia, and don't want to repeat themselves with one of the most common fears.

Another reason could be the problematic nature of making a killer that can climb walls (the main reason why the Ghoul cannot go up and down floors with his power).

In regard to the climbing walls, I was envisioning something akin to the way playing as a Xenomorph was on AVP (2010 game), although admittedly, DBDs map design and general gameplay loop doesn't work well with that unfortunately

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS IDEA!! And just to clarify I have a spider phobia as well but this is a game and lets face it, Who wouldn't be afraid of a killer hunting them down to brutally hook and kill them. So this idea that it triggers someone's phobia is a load of dung. This game actually desensitizes you, it doesn't make things worse. It's like face your fears and you wont be so afraid anymore. So those who cry need to go play maplestory! Seriously, why is anyone playing a murder game if you can't handle scary creatures coming at you. Its asinine at its finest.

Killers like Aunt Jamima with a lame dog are boring. The clown is funny. The unknown is boring. Twins pathetic. The Knight is lame. Skull Merchant is lame. The rest are okay or cool. I main Michael. A heartless brutal murderer that will stop at nothing to cut your guts out. He's an OG that has given more people in history nightmares then spiders ever will.

I want a badass spider that shoots webs to trap you, instead of down you. And your teammates have to pull you out of the web instead of aid. If they don't then spider can then rip them out of the web to hook them.. UPSIDE DOWN WHILE IN A CACOON!! OMG PLEASE IMPLAMENT THIS! 😍😍😍

Couldn't agree more on all counts!

It would be an impossible task for BHVR to try to account for every possible phobia or trigger whilst still maintaining full creative & artistic control.

I, conversely, own several tarantulas & spiders, so naturally find them extremely fascinating anyway!

  • I personally find it a fun mix-up of the norm!
A test of my knowledge of the perks based on icons alone without having to check the pause menu, and also a challenge to try to get some value out of perks I wouldn't typically choose.

    That said……

If I get one more game when I get either No Mither or Scene Partner! 😤

  • I've said this before, but I would absolutely love them to add a giant spider killer. I've wanted one adding for years now.

"Last Year" (the now mostly defunct asymmetrical horror game) had a stunning looking one:

    image.png image.png

Such cool potential power options too:
    - Venom spit for both area denial and infection.
    - Web-zip for hinder or reel-in
    - Scurry/subterranean ambush
    - Placed egg sacs maturing into small spiderlings which roam the immediate area and detect nearby survivors

  • So you came from F13 to DBD and disliked it so much you wanted to create an account on the forums to bluntly say so without any further elaboration. How odd

  • Sadly, given the amount of people who already run DBD on lower graphics settings for more of a "competitive advantage" and how much work it would likely take to take full advantage of UE5, I doubt we'll get much in the way of visual improvements or graphical enhancements at this point.

Poor Myers hasn't been touched at all since 2016 and he's looking so dated

  • I think it's been addressed above, but ultimately it boils down to it being a very strong perk, but it requires a coordinated team to be able to get value out of.

It would help SoloQ if the pre-game lobby, or load-in screen showed what perks each player is running, similarly to how DBD Mobile did

  • While the items themselves would need to be carefully balanced if they're able to be kept after an escape, I absolutely love the idea of chests having items which can only be found from searches and not the bloodweb.

As it stands, without a build which leans into chest searching, there's very little reason to interact with them with the current system, outside of last ditch medkit searches for late game self heals, and even then the RNG can hit you with slaps in the face

I agree with op. In the time since the finisher mori was released, I've come to find them more like officially sanctioned teabagging :/

    I thought I'd see you here! 😂

  • @tjt85 said:

Personally, I'd take a mori over the same hook sacrifice animation that I've seen over a thousand times already. I'm even kinda disappointed if they choose to hook me when I'm the last Survivor left.

Killers that slug for it are a frustration, but hooked or Mori'd you're still dead either way, so what really is the difference?

This is the point I was dialling into with my line of questioning also, as I know I've seen similar discussions on here previously.

Ultimately, a Mori is probably quicker and more interesting than the full process of being hooked and the sacrifice animation, so unless OP's also putting a case forward to be able to leave as soon as they're downed and on death hook, I don't see what's to be gained

  • I feel I need to dig into your logic a little more before I respond.

What is your primary issue with the Moris?

  • A great take from MintSkull was to actually make Tombstone a part of Myers' basekit

    • Using the existing stalk level per survivor, once a survivor has been fully stalked and hooked at least once, they can be tombstone moried (That way only the person who has fed Myers all of the stalk is directly affected by it)
    • A unique audio cue should play to the affected survivor is close to being fully stalked.
    • Allow survivors to be moried both on the ground as well as in a locker (with a unique stab/pin animation for both which references the source material - Think Bob's death from the 1978 movie!)
  • @[Deleted User] said:

Very much agree. Most of them are cringe to the point of being immersion breaking and it's the same thing every time so it feels stale fast.

Considering the alternative is the same hook animation for a third time that match - I think I'd welcome the change to a Mori

The psychology of this argument seems a little strange to me.... Isn't the whole point of horror to cause fear and repulsion?

Horror isn't a pleasant experience by its very definition, its intent is to disturb and repulse you into fearing for your life... a natural mechanism so you can stay alive. Animals are repulsed by sight and smell of the blood and guts of their own species because that represents danger and potential death... in real life these things tend to trigger either a fight or flight response, or a disgust/repulse response to aid your survival... I would argue you being disgusted by them is kinda the entire point of the horror experience...

So why do we like horror? Well human beings are intelligent and inquisitive, it's what allows us to discover, learn and grow. Being horrified is an interesting experience that is unique to you... you learn about yourself and your own fears through horror stories and media (duch as campfire stories), an experience that no one else can experience for you...

I used to find Predator really disturbing and repulsive, and I even had to take regular breaks when I watched it the first time 21 years ago... now that's almost laughable to me given where I am now with horror, and my knowledge of my personal fears is now far more refined and well understood...

My point is... why are you trying to limit the horror experience for yourself? Surely the whole point of horror is to explore and build upon your own limitations of fear and repulsion?

If you don't want to do that, that's fine... but it seems strange to play a game all about pain, suffering and murder and then complain you are repulsed by people being murdered... that's like going to Nando's Chicken and complaining that you are replused they are serving dead chickens... 🤨

Regarding the go next argument... it's at most 10 seconds, and often shorter than being carried to hook and being sacrificed... what exactly is the point?

Stylised murder? In my murder game!? 😱

Okay but what about having “Friendship” Moris just like the Friendship fatalities? 😂

Funnily enough, I'm all for that haha

Why not give the killer 2 options Kill/Spare, each with a unique animation

Yeah, Wraith as an example just hacks away at the base of the Victim's spine for a few seconds. Could really use a rework.

I really like Clown's Mori, because of the crunchy crack of the skull when he stomps on it, but then the actual visual mutilation of the finger (the finger remains removed, even after Mori), with him suckling it. Really grotesque, and right in line with what I'd expect from an M-rated game.

Absolutely! Clown's Mori is always up there with some of my favourites, just for how on brand it is.

Trapper and Wraith both suffer from the problem of being the earliest killers with the most basic and bland Mori's (Save for Trapper's Naughty Bear visceral cosmetic which has an awesome Mori)

Pig's is very disappointing and short also. Doesn't have any real character or flair, just a simple stab/slash and calls it a day

  • @Bloodraven said:

Man I'm on the opposite side of the argument here, I wanna see some Mortal Kombat Fatalities level of Mori's lol

Haha I'm 100% with you there!

I'd be happy if all of the Mori's, the oldest ones in particular, got an update to add more detail/gore so they look less goofy and censored relative to what's going on (Leatherface for example, or Trapper/Wraith's POV gentle pats)

  • Yeah, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say you're very much in the minority here…

Ultimately, you're opting to play an M-rated asymmetric horror game which has survivors routinely being hunted and brutally killed ad infinitum.

It's pretty unreasonable to expect devs to dedicate time to allowing you to disable mori animations just because you personally find it "disgusting". Especially given that, relatively speaking, the gore in basically all of them are particularly tame.

I’ve seen one really good idea, made by a youtuber named Mintskull.

Myers SUCKS... He NEEDS a REWORK! - DbD (youtube.com)

I found myself agreeing with all his points, and would really like something similar in game.

    I love those ideas/changes!

    MINTSKULL MYERS CHANGES SUMMARY:

    - Secondary Power Button to switch between Evil Within Tiers, and trigger EW3
(Hold to switch between EW1 and EW2. Press to trigger EW3)
(Similar to Clown’s reload & bottle switch)

    - EW1 is now a part of Myers' power instead of being a punishment. Myers will finally be able to access undetectable on command like a true stealth killer without the need for add-ons
(Myers is the only stealth killer who loses access to undetectable)

    - Myers is now incentivised to stalk from afar instead of stalking up close
(Similar to Ghost Face stalking - More thematically appropriate to stalk from a distance)

    - Tombstone add on incorporated into basekit as a means to punish players for feeding stalk for free

    - New animations to reference source material

    - All add-ons reworked:

    EW1 CHANGES:

    - Remove Lunge penalty

    - Increase speed from 4.2m/s to 4.4m/s

    - Remove the stalking from a distance penalty
(Survivors now have to constantly watch all over the map to spot Myers in order to prevent him from getting a lot of stalk)

    EW2 to chase/attack normally

    EW1 to ambush/stalk from afar

EW1 to EW3 with button press

    STALKING CHANGES:

    - Stalking limit is removed - Survivors will always feed Myers stalking points
(AFK crow affected players give no stalk points)

    - Survivors looking at you will reduce your stalk rate by a significant amount
(Incentivise stalking from unnoticed from afar rather than during chase)

    - "Overstalked" survivors will have their aura change to red
(Stalk level will passively decrease slowly while hooked)

    TOMBSTONE BASEKIT:

    - If survivor's aura is completely red & have been hooked at least once. They can be tombstone/moried basekit
(now only the person who fed Myers a lot of stalk is directly affected, rather than another survivor who did nothing wrong)

    - Unique audio to play when you (the survivor) are close to being fully stalked

    - Allow survivors to be moried both on the ground as well as in locker
(unique animation for both - Survivor pinned to the wall of locker with knife similar to Bob from 1978 movie)

    EW3 CHANGES:

    - 10% speed boost on break actions and stun protection or 25% speed boost on all, but ensure it does not stack with any perks

    - Cannot be activated while near a hooked survivor

    - Stalk rate decreased while near a hooked survivor
    (similar to old Singularity protection)

I don't disagree, but one thing I will say is Myers is the best thematically realised killer in the game... the license can only take you so far if the gameplay doesn't match (Freddy), and as dated as his power is, he absolutely feels like you are playing Myers... both as and against.

He is also a lot of fun to build around; his power is simple, but it synergises really well with a lot of perks.

I'm not really making I point, but I suppose if I was it would be, I would rather he be weak and feel like Myers, than be strong and lose that feeling... and I imagine BHVR likely came together same conclusion... no need to update him, cause he's doing just fine 😅

Is why I've always pushed back very hard against things like teleports and wall phasing... itd be good... but it's just not Myers 😁

I do give you Freddy, although I think had Behaviour been able to secure the Robert Englund/Wes Craven Freddy, he could have gotten away with so much more than the poorly received 2010 version.

You do make a fair point about any substantial reworks running the risk of losing the feeling of Myers, but I do feel he could get away with some modernisation as well as some kind of secondary utility without losing his identity. As it stands in the current 2024 roster it just kind of feels like Ghost Face does everything Myers does, but with more control and options (ignoring tombstone)

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3812443#Comment_3812443

I don't think he's been forgotten, just he's a victim of his own success... By and large people love Myers even if he is weak... he has something like the 8th highest pick rate in the game... and as the old saying goes, if it ain't broke...

Stats wise he performs well typically, hitting a 61% killrate in the last stats release, but of course the issue is that he's artificially propped up by Tombstone Piece, which is literally the best add-on in the game.

I think people love Myers just because of who he is. His licence is doing a lot of the heavy lifting I'd say. His actual gameplay and tombstone add-ons feel antiquated. The latter of which do agree being the cause of his boosted kill-rate.

I love Myers/Halloween, but the clunkiness of his power and lack of any secondary utility or QoL features makes him feel very dated and in need of some love

  • @Tostapane said:

I can already predict how they will "rework" him: they will remove all the addons that allow him to kill survivors (which could be fine if his basekit will be buffed, but on that point i'm a bit skeptical...) while in T3, they will also REMOVE scratched mirror and vanity mirror (which i COMPLETELY DISAGREE since those addons are fun and not even so powerful as people claim), in exchange they'll remove the limit of stalk that you can get par person (honesty i reached that point ONLY when i was aganist bad survivors and i wanted to play with them without actually killing them, so this would be more a Qol change)

I'm admittedly sceptical and feel that the "tweaks" will only be some number adjustments and rework of both Tombstone add-ons. I'm holding out hope though, if only for the fact that Myers has at least been acknowledged as existing, as he felt pretty much forgotten.

IMHO he needs a more thorough rework to bring his gameplay/power up to par with similar killers released since his introduction way back in 2016 when DBD was a very different game to what it is today.

  • @Peanits said:

We have a bundle of tweaks planned for him in the not too distant future and will share more details when it's closer. We're also preparing an updated roadmap to give you a better idea of when you can expect them, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

That's wonderful news! Thanks Peanits 🤗

I look forward to seeing what's in store for Mikey - Would a "Realm Beyond" visual update / Blumhouse cosmetic be out of the question?
    👉️👈️

  • For a horror/slasher icon such as Myers to be near enough untouched in so many years is just a shame…

He feels and looks so outdated compared to more recent polished killers.

IMHO he's dying for an update

  • What I wouldn’t give for a fresh coat of paint to Myers…

I get that he’s still enjoyed by both newer players, as well as at a low-mid MMR, but I think he’s really showing his age now in terms of his physical appearance (lower quality textures), particularly simplistic/dated power (lack of secondary utility to his power, also finite amount of available use), as well as both useless and game breaking add-ons (tombstone/tombstone piece insta-kill in particular, given there’s no way of knowing prior to the first unsuspecting survivor getting deleted)

I got so hopeful to see Myers’ name on the most recent 2023-2024 roadmap, but sadly no luck ☹

  • <deleted>

  • I'm sorry, but #28 looks fantastic! I'd love to see that in the store.

  • Any farming killer I've come across I just sit on gens and leave, as as a lot of others have already stated, farming is boring AF and I'd sooner just move on so I can actually join a game with someone that actually wants to play and not screw around for memes/BP

  • Resident Evil 2 was one of the first games I ever played back on the PS1 and it still holds a massive place in my heart, so I'm massively hyped for RE to be finally coming to DbD and would want nothing more than Leon & Claire as survivors (possibly with legendary outfits for Jill & Chris?) and the RPD as a playable realm.

When balancing faithfulness and gameplay, the killer is more difficult to choose, I admit. I'm obviously immediately drawn to either Tyrant/Mr.X or Birkin in either G1 or G2 form but I'm unsure what their powers/abilities would be.

Nemesis is also a decent choice. I disagree that he would need his full arsenal of weaponry however, as in several of his encounters he's unarmed, or just uses his tentacle to attack from range, or grapple to new locations etc. Weaponry could just be in a mori perhaps?

I'm really not a fan of the idea of Jack Baker, however. I've played RE7 and thought it was the closest RE has been to its roots in a long while, so I did enjoy it, but he never really struck me as an iconic character. So I would be very disappointed if he was the killer for whatever reason. Same goes for Lady Dimitrescu from RE:Villiage.
