Better than the indignity of using an Xbox instead of playstation *heart emoji*.

Indignity ain't what I feel. More like neatly trapped. PlayStations are in the same boat no Cross Progression if they wished to jump to PC either.

Eek. Most of my friends get around 30-45 fps on that. Come join us in PC land.

I use a puter all day at work already and don't wanna game on one. Plus no Cross Progression remember, and it ain't coming, so I'd have to rebuy everything and regrind all characters. Would you or any one else with thousands of hours really go through that again? Be honest...

Honey, that's what you get for running Xbox instead of playstation.

I play on PC so I wouldn't know. Which Xbox model are you using?

    Xbox1x

New asymmetrical games have come along and none of them made DBD obsolete. Like it or not, DBD has this particular market cornered and don't get your hopes up about anything new.

If you're running DBD at 10 FPS, but you can run cyperpunk & league at the same time, that sounds like an issue with your computer, not the client.

My poor ol' Xbox can fall to 10-15 frames in Lery's middle room. I assure you it is not running another game at the same time.

For me: It was the Sanctum of Wrath map. The Trickster spawned at the top of the Shrine facing me. Technically not within the minimum distance, but we were still well within view of each other. Fortunately the killer wasn’t very good and I managed to fake him out and escape, but I still couldn’t believe it happened.

Corn map i spawn inside the basement with the dungeon and ruin next to the pallet. Bubba spawns just outside to my left and strolls in. I explain I had no intention of touching his chest, and prove it by carefully placing my purple medkit down. Not impressed, I now am one hooked and maybe get 300 bloodpoints.

yeah, it does. playing on low graphics is significantly less taxing to a system than ultra (like, for example, my pc can handle ~120fps on Ultra without burning my legs to a crisp but could easily, and I mean easily if the game wasn't capped at 144fps, hit 200fps+ on low (not like it matters to me, i have a 60hz monitor so the most i could even see would be 60fps so thats what i run it at). hopefully when they bring these updated graphical options to pc they'll also have them on console, cause i've seen my ex-gf's ps4 run this game and it was about as pretty as a car crash.

also, anyone who says pc and console are playing the same game are wishfully thinking at best and woefully misinformed at worst, as much as id like it to be the same.

On a good day, my Xbox might give me 30 frames from time to time. Depending on what's going on in game, the indoor maps spudder about at 10-15 with occasional freezes and sneezes. Especially Lery's in the middle room too much of a muchness going on in there...

I just love using them. They're very fun to play and their perks are good too. I love using Victor and it funny seeing a baby go flying on a survivos head like its a Jockey from Left 4 dead. But I understand that people don't like going against or playing the twins. But I like them.

    P.S

BhVr where's my Jockey skin for Victor?

I'd like to see Victor sporting a bite-sized version of Dwight's pizza delivery outfit. Maybe with extra sauce...

Not necessarily; you can just change the displayed resolution on your monitor to achieve the same effect.

This, obviously, doesn't make it any less of an exploit. It still should be fixed.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2078275#Comment_2078275

Honestly, I can't really give an answer for it. It's a nice feature to have, because it allows you to use customised icons/portraits (which BHVR could make a fortune off of selling in the store) but at the same time allows you to change graphical options to a better setting then the presets of "Low", "Medium", "High", and "Ultra"- like, for me, my eyesight is awful so I'd have to play on Low settings normally, otherwise I wouldn't be able to see anything, but being able to change the files let's me keep shadows on low and have other things higher so the game looks nicer.

This wouldn't be a thing if the game had proper graphical settings, but unfortuantely it doesn't, so I have to resort to this.

And being able to edit these files also allows other... less innocent graphic adjustments, such as making the red stain brighter, or removing fog.

Hopefully, they'll implement the better graphics options (planned for later this year) and then lock the .ini files.

Does being able to change the quality of the graphics (low, med, etc) have an effect on framerate? If so console badly profusely needs those options.

Also all this does not give me the warm & fuzzies when it comes to "we all are playing the same game no worries Crossplay is fair" argument I see thrown my way at times.

  • @gibblywibblywoo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2078275#Comment_2078275

Not sure about multiplayer games but being able to access and edit files is common for PC games. It's how you enable certain mods in games like Fallout, for example.

Most multiplayer games like DBD scan your files to make sure nothing is out of order, afiak. I don't know why this is allowed if it's enabled by file editing.

So yet another thing us lowely consolers cannot ever do...

  • @gibblywibblywoo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/239915/devs-is-stretched-resolution-an-exploit

Doesn't it require messing with your .ini file? If thats the case I absolutely would say it is.

Why in the entity's blue butthole can the game files be accessed? I assume this is a PC only thing again? Just, why???

Getting one of those stupid knives to do what I want it to and hit the survivor is tricky

You see, there's a reason why he's called "The Trickster" ☻

Shoulda went with Recoiler because that mechanic is unpredictable and it's darn near impossible to group throws or even know where it'll go. No pattern to the recoil I can feel, trying to correct for it on controller aweful.

Add to that his movement speed while throwing is like Burger King Myers discovered he likes McDonald's too.

They say it's unintended. But exploit is a very strong term for it when it's literally just a hard flick. Sigh... If cross-play wasn't added then this wouldn't be a discussion...

You bring up a good point about Crossplay. But where do you think the game would be at without it, or without console altogether? Is the PC playerbase big enough to sustain and grow the game?

  • Because it's PC-only and cannot be added to console doomed this "thing" from the start.

No I'm saying if you complain about optimization problems or sensitivity maybe you should've invested in a pc , I mean you can't go to the dollar store buy some off brand soda and then complain that it's not as good as the real deal when you did it to yourself

No one dreamed this game would and continue to be this poorly optimized. Those consoles you condemn as cheap are capable of running far more demanding games than DBD, especially the newest ones. And mid to lower end PC's have similar issues too.

It's just this game they have such a hard time digesting.

seems like the only solution is to remove SWF since it ruins killers AND solos.

why are we catering to 10% of the game population?

Sadly I’m in PS4 or else you sound like a very good teammate.

I try to be. Not too good at looping though

  • Best I can offer is if I'm in a three man and the one that joins, should they also be on Xbox, we invite them to chat. Whether they accept or not I do not consider them expendable and will get them out if I can. This can be at times unpopular with my team depending on how they view "their contributions and play" all very subjective to be sure. I still try. I wish it was easier to get comms with all platforms.

  • Heal up at two to three pallets/vaults in chase? No way killers will go for this. Approaching broken status like old sc was.

PC players often play on high sensitivity so they only slightly move the mouse and its corrected unlike most console players, throwing depends on range, the further you are the more central itll be but still slightly left then slightly right and repeat. Best advice aim bottom of their back in the open to land hits more easily

Thanks! I've been aiming for I guess top butts area, as I get misses high as well as left or right. Again no pattern to the recoil I can feel. Much slower to correct with a controller, which I already have at max sens when playing this guy.

Ranged killers are something else on console.

  • @Florin said:

Since he was added I played him a lot. So, I wanted to give some tips for how to play him.

The perk build I use the most is:

    -Thanatophobia

    -Dying Light

    -Pop goes the Weasel

-Bbq and chilli or Corrupt Intervention

Why do I run this build? Thana+Dying Light will slow the gens a little and he really needs it because his map preasure is so weak, also I found is working really good. Pop helps a lot with gens. And bbq just for points cuz anyway you don't get more than 20k per a normal game with him. Or you can run Corrupt which helps a lot to get use of Thana and maybe some stacks on Dying Light.

    Add ons:

    -Caged Heart Shoes

    -Killing Part Chords

Both addons will make him faster while throwing knives. Also those are the best addons unless you want more knives, but the knives addons aren't that useful.

Some good perks on him: Monitor and Abuse, Iron Maiden, Nurse's calling, Bloodwarden, Noed, Discordance and the perks I said in my perk build.

    How to play him?

First, when you start a chase you should try to figure out if you are going against a good or a bad survivor.

If you go against a bad survivor try using his m2 because you will get a quick down due to their playstyle they use to panic a lot, and they are doing a lot of mistakes against him like free vaults or random pallet drops.

If you are going against a good survivor try to m1 him and use m2 only to scare him or make him to belive that you want to m2. By using his m2 against a good survivor you won't do much becuase he will try to avoid pallet loops and just find a jingle gym or a loop where you can't use m2.

Main event: This is the worst part about him, Main event is really bad and I don't recommend you to use it in chase. This super is just good at hooks or just let it go. Every time I used in chase I just lost that chase.

Anyway this killer is getting gen rushed a lot so gl.

At indoor map he is very very bad.

    Try to avoid w gamers.

And you still may lose like 80% of the games because he is very weak, since I played him I unpiped from rank1 and now I am struggling in rank5.

Here are my Trickster stats, so you can see I played him a lot since it's relase: https://dbd.onteh.net.au/playerstats/76561198852804553

Maybe you will find my tips useless, I just wanted to help. :)

You on PC? How's the recoil to deal with? On console the recoil after the second throw is so aggravating to deal with and try to correct for. It seems random, this throw left this one right this one up slightly, left now again whatever, no pattern I see really.

  • Is it worth keeping this if they decide to add it in, and tinker around under Blight's hood? Billy and Nurse really enjoyed their time in the shop.

With at least five platforms not able to do this, you know darn well they'll do something. Even if it is not for a few patches the one thing they are unlikely to do here is nothing.

  • The problems with pallets and rift challenges are likely the biggest culprit. That and a certain unwillingness to stay and fight it out.

  • As a consoler if it were in all caps and very very long, then maybe ya woulda had me...

  • Playing with peeps emotions...

  • @Nazeef13 said:

I found this comment while looking around. I'll check for more when I'm out of work.

"They've said they're not enabling the use of MnK on console because it actually requires a U.I. overhaul.

Then add keyboard and mouse support for major consoles like xbox, and playstation, or just give them move sensitivity on console so they can also flick

They have stated several times it is too difficult for them to add that support to the consoles, so it aint coming. They already maxed out controller sensitivity with an update about a year or so back. So this "tech" will never be possible on console.

Yes absolutely I agree that is the best method to use. And many useful ideas how to do that have been given in many threads for a long time. Just a bit slow to get any of them live imo. I also hope a working MMR helps us all.

They'd probably add in ai bot killers at that point. I don't think I'd play that.

    please do something about SWF

game is getting less fun for me as killer and I don't want to have to rely on nurse or spirit just to be able to even do something against SWF

Been brought up many times. What do you suggest?

From what I've seen, the devs won't separate queue them, abolish the game mode, nor punish/debuff them. And they certainly cannot stop the comms part at all. With more than half of all survs in at least a two-man and most revenue coming from survs, the devs are kinda boxed in.

So given all that, what do you do?

  • @Revolver_Ocelot said:

My take on how to fix DbD as of Patch 4.5.2. I know that the devs will never take these seriously or respond to this post, but here's hoping they might.

    === KILLERS ===

The Nurse: Total power rework. The Nurse does not follow the core components of the game (i.e. once you are spotted not even pallets will help you escaped a Nurse player that has practiced.)

The Spirit: Remove ability to hear survivor's groans of pain while phasing and add some form of notification (like environmental fog increase) that The Spirit is phasing near you when you are working on a generator (the phasing sound is too quiet. I feel especially bad for those who have hearing problems).

The Huntress: Add a limit to how long a charged up hatchet can be held before a cooldown and/or reduce max number of hatchets carried at one time. Change iridescent head add-on.

The Shape: Update power and add-ons. I have written ways to fix The Shape since he hasn't received nearly any changes since his release in 2016. Check it out here:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/233578/would-you-support-these-updates-changes-to-the-shapes-power-and-add-ons

All Killers: Remove ability to maximize turning sensitivity so the Killer cannot swing, swipe their mouse, and land a hit despite facing away from the Survivor. In other words, once you initiate an attack in one-direction in should only hit survivors in that direction (give or take SOME degrees).

All Killers: The Undetectable status effect should not trigger crows.

All Killers: Killers should have a meter that fills up while remaining in very close proximity to hooked survivors. When filled the Killer should be temporarily stunned and blinded for a very short duration. This will encourage Killers to monitor survivors and survivor objectives and give the survivor being targeted a chance to be rescued.

    === SURVIVORS ===

Remove ability to maximize turning sensitivity. In other words spinning in a circle, in place should not cause a Killers attack to auto-aim away and miss you. Changing directions abruptly should have momentum and use a locomotion animation where the survivor stops quickly then changes direction (footing).

Survivors should have a meter that fills up when not in a chase or helping team mates with objectives. The meter should regress faster while doing objectives and being chased, and the meter should fill up slower when not helping with objectives or being chased. When a survivor's meter is full they should scream (cannot be prevented) and/or have their aura revealed (cannot be prevented). This idea is to prevent a match from dragging on forever when two survivors are left and both hide until the other is found. Also it motivates survivors to do their objectives instead of chickening out or otherwise trolling.

    === MAPS ===

Add new ways to avoid detection with the addition of new props such as furniture (beds, large benches, closets, curtains, tables, etc.) that survivors can hide UNDER or behind.

Large Maps: On big maps such as Haddonfield and Ormond either reduce the size of the maps or add more generators (require 6 or 7 perhaps?) and make them slightly easier to repair (if more are added). Or perhaps require one generator to be powered in order to access a part of the map where the next generator is.

The notion that undetectable killers should not disturb the crowd makes sense.

The directional attack you mention interests me: I have been hit several times by an Oni (both with and without his power) when he clearly is facing almost the opposite direction, but never from a console Oni only a PC one. I have always wondered why it connects and also why I cannot pull it off on my Xbox.

  • @TattooJake said:

This whole game is too dark for my liking. I use gforce and add some filters to brighten things up. Helps a TON!

    And for console?

  • If the proposed MMR functions as advertised we will be able to do as you are asking, as killers would have a rating for each killer and then matchmaking is based off of that.

  • @Phasmamain said:

And yet the map hasn’t been disabled yet even though the devs can make a quick hot fix to do that

Patching it out would be best yes, but the best the devs can do in making a "quick hot fix" takes at least a week. More likely such a patch gets added to a planned update.

  • @UnentitledBunnyMan said:

sweaty SWF on discord = 4 cheaters using CE to show killer aura + survivors aura all the time

while dev have been pretending it do not exist for 4 years

You mean the same devs who set up an official Discord for people to meet up and play DBD together?

  • @AsherFrost said:

Put voice comms in the game, make them range dependent and let the killer hear it as well (but not speak, because that gets weird, at least it did inF13) then make it so that the game takes over audio in and out when running, so team speak/ventrillo/discord/skype/etc can't be used.

Is that possible? I'm not sure, I know it can be done on console at least and I think it's worth considering, because at that point the only advantage swf will have is in people knowing they have friends they can rely on to do objectives.

Will people of the extra sweaty variety find a way around it? Probably, but not in nearly the numbers we see now.

Cannot be done on Xbox, as the party chat is entirely separate from any game being played. Could even be playing different games. And i believe Microsoft mandated any game they accept cannot interfere with the party chats in any way. Devs can't do squat even if they wanted to.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2051613#Comment_2051613

There's plenty of much bigger issues with Console v PC than a J flick.

If they ignore the J flick and fix Console FPS then I'd let PC players keep "tech" they wanted.

I very much agree. But reading this thread got the thought train going, and I spilled out all at once what I've been thinking for some time now. I know I'll get flamed for doing so, just waiting.

To be honest I'm not sure they really know how to deal with console. They must have one kicking around somewhere to test with, but no way game after game gets played on it or they'd rage & uninstall! ;)

  • I have a hard time understanding this discussion. We are talking about an action the devs have said was not intended, that gives an advantage, and that cannot & likely will never ever be even possible on console. Anything at all that fits that description imo shouldn't be in the game, for fairness sake if nothing else.

The consistent arguement for Crossplay being fine I always see is something like "we all are playing the same game, the differences are small & unimportant, etc." But are we? Sound settings this, video card that, resolution this & this, macro that, edit files these things over here. My self-respect won't allow me to go down this road, or ever feel any of this is ok.

Some will say it's all the devs' fault. Only to a point, they aren't reaching into your rig and changing a thing.

Others will point out just flick off Crossplay. Works to wall off the percieved unfairness but helps change nothing and further divides us all.

And to the notion "get a PC" costs aside remember there is no Cross Progression nor is it coming, so we are very much trapped. Very few with thousands of hours will rebuy everything and regrind from scratch.

I'm not naive enough to expect an abundance of fairness in an online multiplayer video game, but we are pretty far I think from that level playing field. Point at the devs all you want, but we are the ones actually pressing the buttons. Because we can doesn't mean we should.

    Survivor: Rank 4.

I could probably rank up as killer if I tried, but I like having more chill games. And if someone DC's early for whatever reason I play friendly because I don't want to make anyone's experience bad. Also would help if I played more.

This is pretty much me, rank 5-6 surv but rank 14-16 killer. I know I'm not a good killer and thankfully am not put up against red ranks all that much. So I do the same when someone dc's in a match, and when rolling out my Piggy I can't help myself often and shenanigans ensue.
