Also you mentioned you are 100% a Killer player? I'd highly recommend playing some survivor too.

I don't know... I learnt pretty fast when I was facing ppl with 500-1000 hours, but when you encounters 2000h players or really good ones, you're just hard crushed, can't do anything but being mad in chat. Talking as 100% killer player, where nobody can carries me.
I guess just try and notice what the difference is between the 1000 and 2000h players. I'm guessing it will be cleaner looping and winning mind games.
It helps to watch streamers I guess.
Also try and pick one Killer to focus on, I've been jumping between Killers, I want to try each one, but I still get disappointed if I don't do well with one, which is crazy, as they all play very differently.

This depends.
Did you:
1) Shake or nod your head at me?
2) Facecamp or tunnel?
3) Play Freddy or Spirit (with Stridor)?
If yes to any of the above and my team survives my ass is staying at the exit to teabag you for your toxicity. Toxicity is a two-way street. If not then I leave the match peacefully.
Honestly I love when a Killer nods, it's hilarious. Especially Victor or Ghost Face

Difference is that "gen rushing" doesn't really exist, unless we're talking about something like Marths depip squad. If your playing killer and multiple gens are getting down really quickly, your just not putting enough pressure on the survivors. I main blight and use pop + corrupt + tinkerer with him and I havent had game where I was like "Damn I was completely powerless to stop the survivors and they actually gen rushed me."
Well yeah you are using the fastest Killer in the game with a build heavily based around gen defense, it makes sense you are well prepared againt gen rushers.
Try playing Huntress or Trapper against a good team.

But in exchange Killer Add-Ons should be disabled in Solo Q.
Way too many broken killer add-ons in this game but nobody bats an eyelash. They might be good for an SWF team. Maybe, if the SWF is actually good and organized. But against Solo Q a lot of add-ons are too powerful.
Sure, I suppose if they implement some feature which detects if a lobby has a SWF, and conditionally deactivates some part of the build (the map offering), then I suppose it could also be extended to easily disable add-ons in the presence of no SWF.
I guess if you are running something like bloody glove on Oni, then yeah it's a guaranteed win against Solo (well maybe not if you get an outdoor map).
The problem here is there are some Killers which rely on add-ons to be half decent. But then again, it's probably the SWF again here which makes certain add ons crucial for success, so yeah maybe disabling these in Solo Q would be fine.

I am not talking about Sacrificial Wards, I am talking about Map Offerings. I have never used the word Sacrificial Ward at all, in my opinion, those are pretty useless. Only the Killer can really use them if they suspect that they go against Survivors who might burn a Map Offering (which is already ridiculous how much the Killer has to guess at this point, for Survivors the Wards are pretty much useless).
I was talking about burning a Map Offering, even if Survivors burn one, you at least have a chance that your Map is picked. And if not, the Offering which was not used, should not be burned. Again - not talking about Sacrificial Wards here (even tho, those would clearly be better if they would not be burned if no Map Offering is played).
While Survivors indeed can stockpile Offerings, since not everyone plays every Survivor, I rarely see Map Offerings. They are not common, I have like 90 Strode Reality Keys and never use them, but this means that other Survivors have a similar number of Map Offerings, I am most likely not the exception. So its not like Map Offerings are used frequently.
And once the Maps are reworked, it should be better, at least no Killer should have the feeling that the game is over when the Survivors burn a Strode Reality Key (for example).
Yeah the reason you have lots of map offerings is precisely because you don't use them. My point is, even for a swf who does use them, it's still easy to stack them, or at least have a small number of them and be able to consistently use them and play the map they want to play, all the time, whilst also reaping the benefits of communication.
The problem with simply reworking the maps is that a new map will become THAT map which a Killer facing a swf will see all the time.
Finally, even if the SWF is consistently requesting a map which is not actually OP, it's still unfair in my opinion, as they are routinely playing a map they know well, which gives them a further advantage over the Killer (on top of the usual meta builds + constant communication).
If you want to play a map all the time, or just play it for practice, you should just play private lobbies in my opinion. Selecting the map has no place in ranked game modes in my opinion, and is one of the few things that might actually be a small and achievable change for the devs to make, and have a sizeable impact on swf gameplay.

Just kill them. They can’t wait at the gates if they’re dead. If you can’t kill them you deserve it.
What so being outmatched means you deserve to be shamed?
And if you behave as such you deserve to wait 15 minutes between matches.
-
Responding to point 1, technically the survivors are not constantly sprinting, it's more of a jog (you can tell this as there is literally a perk which allows you to sprint, but it lasts 3 seconds). Also I find it interesting you think it's more natural that Bill could be able to sprint indefinitely, considering his age and the fact he is always smoking, yet you didn't list Meg in that category, who is literally a competitive runner.

"Also I disagree with your other point too. How can you say to me I should have to burn a sacrificial ward each time and run the risk of losing that, yet a SWF who burn a map offering and somehow still don't get the map should get their offering back."
What? I did not say that. I said that the Offering which is not used should not be burned. This goes for both sides. If a Killer burns a Map Offering (like an Indoor Map for Ghostface, Wraith, whatever) and gets the Map requested by the Survivors, they should not lose their Offering. Same the other way around.
And nope, I am playing both sides pretty equal, both Rank 1, I do play only 2-man SWF when playing Survivor tho, if I play alone, I play Killer. And I never use Map Offerings as Survivor and only sometimes as Killer (mostly Mirror Myers on Lerys or for an Archive-Challenge).
(For me personally, they can remove Map Offerings, I dont use them that much, like I said. However, I also think it is totally fine to burn them, I also see Survivors burn MacMillan, probably just to have a normal game on a balanced Map. I also dont think that it is bad that some Maps are survivor-sided and some are killer-sided, it is more the case of how much they favor one side, and this will be dealt with with the Map Reworks)
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1903723#Comment_1903723
The Breakable Walls make the Buldings weak and they are not even close to be an infinite then. And without the Walls, after the Reworks, those Main Buldings did not have anything, they got a bit stronger because of those, but thats it. In an ideal world, Breakable Walls would not exist, I dont like them, but I dont think they are badly placed (except for the Storehouse, where they removed the Pallets for a strong Window, which becomes weak once the wall is broken and on the Saloon, which needs multiple Walls to break).
"As for it being large, I should've said that the distance between gens is large, which forces you to 3 gen. This can be both good and bad depending on the situation. Against people who know how to split gens, you have to start holding a 3 gen down early giving you less time to work with."
Ok, I can get behind that, however, every Killer who can start chasing Survivors right from the start (so Killers who dont need Setup), can patrol basically the whole map. And Survivors mess up those Maps like Resting Place or Suffocation Pit quite often, I cannot count how often one Gen I left on 99% on one side got finished by someone who did not even think one second why that Gen was only ALMOST finished.
And for Setup-Killers, those can go for a 3-Gen. I dont see much of an issue here, even if someone is going for a 3 Gen right from the start on those Maps, this is a legit strategy and not a bad one either.
"As for badham, every survivor just runs to a building when hit so ignoring them makes you lose a lot of chases. Not only that gens are in these buildings so if the survivors do open gens and leave the ones in buildings to last there's very little you can do."
When Bloodlust was disabled, I got Badham quite often (apparently it was bugged during that time, appearing more often than usual), and I did fine. And I am mostly playing M1-Killers, so no Nurse or Spirit or stuff like that.
From my own experience, the Maps mentioned are good playable as Killer. And I would not consider myself a really good Killer, so I am pretty sure that many others will do well on those Maps as well.
OK so are you saying that if a sacrificial ward is burned and a map offering is not used, then the sacrificial ward should also not be burned? If so, then maybe your solution to just spam sacrificial wards every match is more realistic.
Let me explain, it's not purely about me wanting to burn survivor puddings and just get blood points all the time. I don't have a "main" killer, I'm new to the game and I'm still trying out pretty much all the Killers. It's really unrealistic for me to run a sacrificial ward every match. I'd basically have to run through multiple bloodwebs before every game, as you don't always see them in the bloodweb. We're talking burning 50k bloodpoints or something before every game. Sure I can still unlock perks as I go. If you are saying that sacrificial wards will also be protected if a map offering was not burnt, then maybe this is fair.
In contrast, given a 3 man swf, they can just run the same survivor, since the gameplay difference between survivors is non-existent. So it's much easier for them to stockpile map offerings on one survivor than it is for me stockpile sacrificial wards across multiple killers. Then on top of that, they can literally stockpile offerings across their profiles since they will always play together. It's much easier for them to ensure they play the same map every game, than it is for me to prevent this in all matches across all Killers.

yeah, but im talking about avverage potential not extreme cases.
It's tough to measure I guess as SWFs aren't always obvious I guess. You only know for sure if you play consecutive games and recognise the same survivor names. So it's really hard to judge.
If you had a post game lobby indication of who is in what party it would be easier to tell.

I think it's horrible when you go into the 2nd hook stage when it's effectively your first hooking because no survivor has come to save you - especially if you've ran the killer for a while.
Yeah I really really like We'll make it. If there are multiple people injured and you manage to unhook, heal, and then double heal a third person, the value is pretty nice.

Suffocation Pit has the 7th big size of all realms:
https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Realms
Tied with e.g. Ironworks, where I never hear complaints that it is too big. In fact, it is only a little bit above average. But yeah "too big".
While the middle area is indeed probably the strongest Part of this Map, it is not like this area is too strong. The Building is also fine, yes, it has a breakable Wall, but honestly, just break it. People always try to use those as the worst thing that ever happened, but Breakable Walls are completely fine, they waste a little bit of time but the structure is incredible weak afterwards.
And well, looking how some Survivors run those... Yeah, sorry that good Survivors can outplay a bad Killer. :(
When it comes to Badham, only the Pallets inside Buildings are save, e.g. I mostly ignore the School and the House with the Basement. And all the outside Pallets are unsafe, its not like you cannot play on this Map as Killer.
But like I said, KIllers want to balance around Top Level-play, but also want Maps to be super-weak.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1903654#Comment_1903654
Yeah, but like he said, you can burn an Offering yourself. But you refuse to do it, because you want your sweet BPs, but obviously Map Offerings are a problem then. The only thing that is more ridiculous is people saying that the Killer should be able to choose the Map (which was an idea which came up multiple times on this Forum).
And the problem currently are the Maps, not the Offerings for them. If Maps like Haddonfield or Coldwind (even tho, I only consider Cowshed a problem, but I dont have much issue looking through Corn) are reworked, they will also be more fair to play on.
The only change to Map Offerings should be that if the Map was not picked (due to another Offering), the Offering should not be burned.
I'm not going to bother explaining to you again how the killer managing to burn an offering against SWFs which are not always obviously SWF is not a realistic system. I already explained that and also supersonic did a good job explaining it twice in the messages above too.
Also I disagree with your other point too. How can you say to me I should have to burn a sacrificial ward each time and run the risk of losing that, yet a SWF who burn a map offering and somehow still don't get the map should get their offering back.
Do you main survivor swf by any chance?
-
I think it's more complex than that because you could have a 3 stack of useless players who play worse than a solid solo queue team.
Or you could have a 2 stack of really good players who can basically win a game on their own.
Finally the killer skill can vary dramatically (e.g. you get streamers who seem to be able to walk through any swf other than the absolute top teams)

He probably does not want to do that, because he has so many Perks to unlock.
So please, disable Map Offerings so that Killers can get more BPs and dont need to burn Map Offerings themselves. /s
I love when people change my argument so they have an easier position in the debate.
I never said disable map offerings, I said disable them for swfs of a certain size.
The map offerings are designed to be played my multiple players since they don't guarantee anything and multiple ones can be played by different survivors and the killer. In a swf lobby it's all too easy to game the system and just have one member of the lobby play the offering each time, and the team as a whole gets to play that map again and again and again.
-
Yes the high ranks are full of people who have played the game a lot. If you want to improve though you will learn faster playing with/against or spectating these players.
It's a bit of a shame as the majority of matches are either laughably easy or extremely difficult, at least that's been my experience (as both Killer and Survivor)
-
Poor Bill was actually trying to work gens whilst you guys were wasting time with keys. I'm glad he got the hatch in the end though.
-
I also posted this idea the other week. Some suggestions from people were that the lullaby radius could be decreased each hatchet you have used, and resets on a reload.
E.g.
5 hatchets left = 40m lullaby
4 hatchets = 35
3 = 30
2 = 25
1 = essentially no lullaby as it meets the terror radius
If you have extra hatchet add ons the numbers would be adjusted but basically the lullaby radius should equal your TR when you are almost needing to reload
-
@Marigoria said:
Only issue with that is that then it will be difficult to have per example mirror myers on a map where it is actually useful.
Besides that yes, kinda bored of going against docs on the game map and blendettes on the saloon
Probably I'll sound biased but I have no problems with a killer burning a map offering. Just like I have no problems with solo survivors burning map offerings. It's just stacked teams burning the same maps all the time that is tedious for me. The map offerings are designed to be played by solo players, which is why they can cancel each other out, and they must be used at the expense of other offerings. When a team is on Comms and can essentially share one offering between 3 or 4 people is when it becomes a problem, for me.

That’s the risk and gamble you take. Use it, or don’t.
No thanks, I've got about 2 million perks to unlock, I'm not wasting precious BP on sacrificial wards which then may or may not bring value.
But anyways, it's fine if we disagree, I just think blocking map offerings is one potential fix which might be small from a code/implementation perspective, but have a decent impact on SWF experience.
-
@TheClownIsKing said:
No, because you can just use a sacrificial ward
Negative.
It's not always apparent if you are facing a SWF though. So you'd basically have to burn one most games.
Burning the sacrificial ward each time is not a sustainable solution, it's a rare item which has to be unlocked at the expense of other more useful things you would buy with blood points, and also it has to be used in place of another offering such as a Survivor Pudding which continues to benefit you.
Meanwhile, all the swf has to do is have 1 of 2/3/4 people burn their offering whilst the others burn whatever they want. They can also co-ordinate their blood webs to evenly rotate so they can unlock things as efficiently as they like (taking turns to acquire the map offering).
-
One idea I've had which I didn't extensively test yet, if you're against someone who is particularly obnoxious and obviously trying to get your attention, it can be quite funny to just literally ignore them (unless they are in range of a free hit, always take a free hit).
Sometimes they will just start trying harder to get your attention, at the expense of them actually doing gens or anything to progress the game.
Unless they are actually good players, if they don't immediately start doing gens or other productive things, you can assume they might be a decent player so maybe tunnellng them in that area was not particularly a good idea anyway.
I definitely remember particularly toxic matches and squads around green and yellow ranks, perhaps they were depippers or something bullying new killers. Unfortunately when you get to play mostly red rank players, survivors tend to play reasonably for the most part (genuinely haven't seen a mid match teabag for a few games now)
-

@C_Frank said:
The problem is unbalance maps not the offering. This is for survivor and killer. Stoo with hadonfield and mayers ninja in lerys
Whilst yes I think they should always try to balance maps, the problem for me is the fact that a team who knows a map well (specific loops or whatever) can request a map. It's just another thing that, on its own is fine, but used by a swf, can just add an extra fairly significant advantage.
Sure, as a Killer you ought to know all the maps anyway, so just "get good" at that map I guess. But if they balance a map, then I guess a new map becomes the most "unbalanced" map and then that's the one you start seeing get abused in what feels almost a third of games.
As a Killer you have to design your build to be flexible for any map, it should be the same way for survivors, especially a large team with 16 perk slots.
-
Your bottles are useful for more than just direct hits, since the gas stays around, you can block off loops really well with the Clown, and at jungle gyms you can basically throw a bottle at one exit, and force them into it by chasing them round the other way, it's pretty much a guaranteed hit.
Also I didn't notice for a while, but the shack has a hole in the roof (not sure if this is on every map), so with some nice angling you can actually hit the edge of the hole and shower basically the whole shack in gas
-
This is probably the funniest salt thread I've seen on this forum yet. Although it's funny in all the wrong ways.
-
I had a brief period of playing Trapper and was actually surprised how relaxing I found playing him.
Despite being a weaker Killer, his playstyle naturally leans towards more forward thinking, planning, and trying to control the survivors with YOUR agenda. For other Killers more focused on chases, I just felt like I was getting controlled by the survivors who effectively get to choose which RNG pallet route or OP loop route to lead me around for a minute or so. Sure, as a Killer you need to control the map, but to an extent your decisions are controlled by which generators the survivors choose to attack and which parts of the map they flock to. Although knowing when to drop a chase is definitely a skill I need to work on more.

BHVR already commented that Russian servers are not possible. I think that was in one of the Q&A streams.
also I think this is because they are using servers that are just not present in Russia.
i have to say I do get matched with many Russians but only several felt like they were abusing high ping (if VPN or they had bad connection i can’t say). And that was mainly before Server sided Hit validation. Many of them are playing fairly normal like everyone else. Obviously.
Yeah I thought so. Even a massive game like Hearthstone groups Russia into EU. To get an idea of just how small Russia is in comparison to EU, you can check all the regions considered "EU" for a massive game like Hearthstone: https://hearthstone.gamepedia.com/Region#Europe_2 (hint, it also contains Africa lol)
So yeah I don't think seeing someone with Cyrillic characters necessarily means they are abusing a VPN in order to kill you.

I can actually answer this. Laugh all you want, but I've played competitive Dbd from time to time, and I was able to scrim against him. This means he was doing everything he could do to win. Double recharge addons, strong build, camping/tunnelling when necessary. We got a few gens done, but it was incredibly difficult (partly due to NA/EU ping). We got a few gens done, but he did kill us. You feel pretty helpless against a nurse of this calibur even if you are a high level player. It's really just about buying every second you can for your team and having the killer chase you away from gens.
Yeah I can imagine, and must be 10x painful when facing him in Solo Q XD

The first sign is usually their Steam name doesn’t have characters that fit English.
The second is by checking their profile like everyone else does.
The thing is though how big is the playerbase of this game in Russia? Is it enough to warrant dedicated servers specifically for that region? Genuine question, perhaps running these servers is cheaper than I'm thinking and they should be a separate region.
However I don't think it is uncommon in online games for Russia to be grouped into EU, most of the people who live in Russia actually live in the very far South West, so it's not actually far from EU at all, especially in terms of internet infrastructure.
But I recently I have seen quite a few names featuring russian (cyrilic) characters, or seen players post russian messages in the post game chat. However it's literally always survivors though (I mainly play Killer, and when I play Survivor I guess there's still 3 other players who are survivors so I'm more likely to observe variety in the survivors.
But if it's Russian people playing as survivors, I don't think this is a case of VPN exploits for an advantage, or at least it's not "VPN Killers" I've been observing.
-
@tomas11403 said:
I would agree with this a little, I guess. The main reason people don't hate facing nurse is that you rarely face an incredibly good nurse. If you think you've faced one, maybe you have, but most likely you haven't. If you want to see some really good nurse play, SupaAlf is pretty consistent on YT/Twitch, and KnightLight isn't that consistent. but he is absurdly good as well.
I've been watching SupaAlf, at his level I'd love to see how fun the games are for survivors. On some builds he can literally 4k in under 2 minutes.
It's almost like a bell curve graph with nurse skill level on the bottom axis and the enjoyment on the left axis. The enjoyment is pretty low for survivors when the nurse has no skill because the game will probably be an easy 4 escape also with no healing and poor medals across the board. As a nurse gets competent and can apply pressure, the game becomes super intense and it's a real battle of juking and pulling off risky saves. But then as a nurse ascends to God status the game basically becomes unwinnable.

If they were to drop console that would suck for cross-play which was their main goal of last year so I doubt they will drop consoles especially if switch cross prog is coming soon. Maybe if they hosted the perk stats on a server and when it is changed it is universally changed similar to the shrine but I highly doubt they will just drop consoles in favour to balance the game.
This guy knows. If they somehow had these things tweakable without requiring an expensive patch push to a wide variety of platforms then they could tweak the perks at any rate they desire. I'm assuming this isn't the case though (i.e. perk stats are baked into the game code) and changing it would be significant.
Theoretically though for perks which are just number values, they could update the game to fetch these values from some server side easily enough. The game already seems to have to fetch a tonne of data on start up anyway.

Think there's a video of Otz getting monstrous shrine or something 7x in a row until he just bought it
-
I think the Killer pips need more of a rework, given killers that use instadowns will often not pip as they simply don't gather enough points. Also killers are actually punished for efficiency at times, so you have to be really good, but not really REALLY good, but you can be REALLY good for a bit and then allow the survivors to reset, and then just be really good again. Ah but don't give them too much of a chance as they'll escape then and you're back in depip territory again.
Meanwhile I literally play survivor a fifth of the time I play Killer and I'm sitting at a much higher rank and it's pretty easy to get a safety pip in most games, and generally if I play pretty well I'll get 1 pip.

Yeah but you also exaggerated his argument by saying swf were calling out each footstep and pixel which was just a pointless strawman attack when the fact is most swfs are using some level of communication that's going to put a killer at a rather large disadvantage.

Not to mention, I cannot believe how he can play DBD pretty much everyday all day. That would drive me nuts.
Erm, YouTube is monetised btw. People don't create YouTube videos out of charity either. He could just stream but that would not be smart, the YouTube allows him to have a presence on multiple online platforms.
Don't get me wrong, he's an excellent content creator, people make out as if he is the second coming of Jesus though.

Sounds like someone just had a bad match. And I suppose it's mandatory at this point to rush to the forums to say "survivor bad" everytime that happens. You probably would've lost the match even if they weren't communicating to each other. And unless they were streaming how do you know they're all on Comms? Almost no SWF group is sweating their balls off telling all their friends what kind of sounds your footsteps are making or how many pixels you are away from their current position.
You're claiming that almost no SWF group will be making call outs to inform their teammates where the Killer is? Well that is a 100% false assertion.

I'm confused- you stopped playing 2 years ago but came back to post this?
Unfortunately, as with most PvP games, certain people will derive fun from the misery of others. Best to ignore them. "Don't feed the trolls" and they'll eventually starve and move on.
Few PVP games offer the mechanics and design to really streamline it though

Honestly i play killer. so this is not me being mad or salty about it because I don't care to escape. BUT.... If killer upsets you to the point where you throw he game to face camp a survivor why even play killer? I am just curious. I wouldn't play killer if it upset me that much to the point where I had to try and ruin an experience for someone else. Again this doesn't bother me i actually AM compiling clips of all the face camping killers i pull when playing survivor to put together a compilation of me getting bmd after a mini chase. But seriously why play killer if it upsets you that much?
Do you get face camped often?

to just respect otzdarva he streams almost every day and uploads almost every day he barely complains and when he does he is reasonable and he helped me so much as a killr her taught me who to get and what perks are good and hes just a all around nice guy
I mean, the guy gets paid to literally play DBD all day, why would he complain?
Sure he seems a genuinely nice guy, but people act as if he does this for charity or something. He's probably on good money.

Quite often I've been playing perkless to force me to get better at the absolute basics, probably a bad idea lol as there are probably perks which will help me learn faster, I guess I like the challenge

That 3 minute chase happens at the end of the match. Check your reading comprehension.
I'm pallet-concious and chain as many windows together as possible.
But hey, keep being ignorant to the fact that there are way too many survivors in red rank matches with their heads completely up their ass.
Here's me looping the killer for a whole minute on absolutely nothing.
I did comprehend the 3 min+ chase was after the end of the match, but you also said multiple minute chases during the game too, so I just guessed at 3 again.
I mean honestly though, if you are looping a Killer for multiple minutes it sounds like the problem here is the skill difference between you and the Killer, not so much your team. It sounds like the survivors that Killer then goes and downs are closer in skill rating.
But yeah I'm fully agreed with you that the solo queue experience isn't too fun. Hopefully MMR will help
