Whenever he loses it often is because of his teammates.
Welcome to a 4v1 game...
As for this topic, as with every topic announcing the demise of solo queue, nah. Anecdotally, I've seen only a handful of DCs in the last few months, and almost never even see first hook suicides either. Maybe it is just me, but considering how once upon a time this kind of thing genuinely was rampant, sounds hard to believe.
Yes true, but just the manner he starts insulting the teammates is disgusting, as if everyone has 10,000 hours like him and can play at the level he does.
It's just textbook bad winner and bad loser. I watched one game he played against a Huntress who demolished the whole team on Lerys. The last shot he got on him was a bit questionable hitbox over a pallet. He chose to call him garbage and started insulting him for the shot. No gg wp or anything for the rest of the flawlessly played match by a skilled Huntress (also Lerys isn't even that great a map for Huntress).
Anyways, I'll stop now, as I don't want to derail the topic and go on too much about a specific streamer. Just wanted to vent about this person for a while lol.

I don't get why he even streams the game anymore. All he does is complain about it the entire time.
Whenever he loses he'll complain about the game, or blame his teammates. But he'll always showboat and teabag upon winning. Pure cringe.
When we have large profile streamers behaving like this, it's a bit sad, as they're basically the role model for countless other players.
-
Bear in mind Blight is pretty new right so people may not have realised his full potential just yet.

There's a popular streamer who survivor mains and does that a lot. When called out for it/screwing over his teammates, his defense is 'well no one is forcing them to stay in there' like ???
So yea, there's lots of people who are selfish/don't give a crap about the match, if they want to leave over stupid things, they will. It sucks but nothing you can do.
This certain streamer wouldn't happen to have a massive beard?
-
and while you camp the key the survivors can pop the remaining gens and you still lose
the real way to deal with keys is in the hands of the devs

It was two duos, we finished the gen and opened the gate whilst my friend was on hook. It was physically impossible to get the save. There was no holding the game hostage in this case but the basement was completely blocked leaving it to be physically impossible to get the save. That is the point im trying to make this exploit can lead to at worst holding a game hostage, at best forcing survivors to either dc or die to end game collapse.
Yep, fair point. I saw someone else post this occuring in the Badham Preschool basement too, which is even worse as that's an active part of the map which can contain a gen. I suppose you could make it so that Charlotte and/or Victor has no hitbox in key parts of the map when they are not being controlled.
-
Bear in mind that they could also be Windows Store players, so it's still technically PC.
I still very often see people say "OMG how are you typing on console" when I post in the post game chat, so I think this is still not well known.

This is your opinion. Many people don't play to just "win". Lots of people play to have fun irregardless of whether they win or not. When I play killer, I love picking Doctor to harass survivors and make them scream over and over. I do it too much against potatoes sometimes and let them all go in the end. I didn't need to win anything, I just had some fun.
Same with when I play Hag. I'll get someone on the hook, and place all 10 of my traps in the path that leads to the hook just so I can hear the rescuer scream over and over. I find it funny and for making them suffer through all those traps I don't pursue them.
No one here is being entitled or on a high horse. This thread is dedicated to the killers who go out of their way to make the game enjoyable for their opponents even though they don't have to. If you were to have actually read the thread, you'd have seen my comments where I state that I don't believe anyone should judge or disparage players who choose to play the way you describe.
Perhaps you're just not good enough to be able to play in a way that is fun for everyone, and that's fine, just don't come here and try to put down others who are.
You should try playing Ghost Face, crouch/sneak up on people working gens, stand up right next to them, watch them crap themselves and run away, and then just walk off. It's pretty funny.
-
Basically there are not enough highly skilled Killers, and way more high ranked survivors. This means that low rank newbie Killers must be put against red rank survivor teams regularly.
I'm also new to the game (playing regularly since October last year), and feel your pain OP.
However one advantage to playing these players with 4000 hours, is you are exposed to lots of high level techniques and skills from the get go. It is difficult and you will lose lots of games, but with the right mindset you can learn and thrive! Just expect to lose, or you will get stressed.
Aim to improve your play incrementally and learn each game, rather than aiming to "win" or consistently get kills.

Killers like to feel so victimized but the truth is Killer parks are way stronger than Survivor perks in general, and survivor perks have been nerfed way more than killer perks in general.
In the Dennisreep community there are 7 S-Rank Killer Perks and 0 (yes Zero) S-Rank Survivor Perks.
Other people in this thread have pointed how many of the survivor perks newb killers think never got nerfed were nerfed ages before they even started playing (pretty obvious they're newbs because they never even knew they were nerfed).
Check it again. Currently it's 3 survivor S perks (BT, DS, IW) and 2 killer perks (BBQ, Pop).
Also killer perks should be stronger anyway given there is 1:4 killer to survivor ratio.

Agitation or Iron Grasp is always a good shout on Trapper too, since it allows you to move a little further when hooking someone, so you can ensure you get a hook in your current area you are defending, or if you're the type of Trapper who likes locking down the basement, it means you can get to the basement hook more reliably.
-
@TicTac said:
Infectious Fright. Its great as territorial killer. With STBFL you can make a massacer in a short time and you can interrupt people who try to escape a trap when they scream.
I don't think anyone would expect IF on a Trapper either so you could use it to start an early snowball if anyone is lingering for an ez flashlight or pallet save.
Devour Hope would probably be fun on a Trapper as well and provides a bit extra value, plus Trapper can protect his totem better than your average Killer, for obvious reasons.

The problem with new game modes is that people are already unhappy with the current queue times. If you had another game mode, you split the player base even further and increase wait times.
A new mode might bring a lot of retired gamers back though, especially if it's fun and breathes new life into DBD.

@JPA I mean the character's responsiveness to commands, the precision of the blinks, the speed of the 360s ... everything related to the Nurse's mobility during a chase.
I don't know any statistics, but if your words are true, i.e. the strongest Nurse is going to get 4k against the strongest team of survivors, then she should be nerfed until the average outcome, with the same skill in both roles, won't be 2k/2e.
Oh my bad, I thought you were referring to the fluidity of the survivor since you mentioned going against Nurses.
The analogue stick will never match the mouse for precision, this will always be a problem with cross platform games. Speed of the 360s could be fixed with controller sensitivity I guess, but you'd need to get used to ultra high sensitivity.
-
When you say fluidity, what do you mean precisely? I would have thought from a control standpoint at least, playing Survivor with a controller is not too different to using a M+KB (an analogue stick has advantages in looping). There are probably hardware differences which will unfortunately create differences between the two platforms. Another reason why DBD matchmade games can never be considered truly "competitive" if you ask me.
Unfortunately, a good PC nurse is going to 4k all day against any survivors, regardless of what platform they are on.

Why do sound bugs keep coming back then. The silent hill chapter wasn’t rushed but still had bugs. This game will never be bug free or even non buggy.
No software is ever bug free.
My point is, the reason this game is so full of bugs, is because time is spent adding new content, which means adding new code to the codebase, usually in a rushed fashion, rather than spending time refactoring the code that is already there, and improving the existing content.
Hence, a chapter dedicated to quality of life fixes would give the devs time to clean up the game and make progress on some of the bugs.
-
@Phasmamain said:
Scott Jund brought up a point that not many do. This game gets very stale without new content. Scott and many others need the new content to keep enjoying the game.
A health chapter wouldn’t work because all the bugs they fixed would probably just come back next chapter anyway and the lack of content would drive players away.
Not to mention BHVR wouldn’t get any money from it
As for new game modes they would become stale as they would never be balanced in any way. Bhvr should spend their time balancing the game and adding content while fixing bugs imo
Why do you think the bugs would come back next chapter? The only reason bugs occur at the moment is because the team is rushing out new content such as new Killers/Survivors/perks. If they had time dedicated to fixing and debugging the content that is already there, they would be less likely to add or exacerbate bugs in future releases.

-
Just saw another thread about this. I guess the easiest fix would be to give Charlotte no hitbox when she isn't being controlled? Surprised the devs did not see this coming to be honest.

It's an exploit as it can lead to the twins holding the game hostage. Why wouldn't you want it patched?
Well in this scenario the person was hooked in the basement so technically the person holding the game hostage was the survivors not in the basement not leaving, no?
But I guess if everyone is in the basement and there are still gens/gates to open, then yes I suppose that could be an exploit. When would you all want to be in the basement though

Just leave, you're not entitled to get a 4 escape every game

Hmm yeah that's odd, can't explain the rainbow ranks.

@Blueberry said:
Yeah I don't know what has been going on with matchmaking lately but the majority of my matches as survivor and killer have been putting literally red and grey ranks together. It is bad.
It's because high Killers are leaving the game, so low ranked Killers must be matched with any rank survivors, to prevent their queue times being too long.
-
I think the problem is that to win as a Killer, you need to put intense pressure on the survivors. To win as a Survivor, you have to put intense gen pressure on the Killer. I can't blame a team of Survivors for immediately putting on the pressure, as if you don't put this pressure on early, and it is a good killer, or a try hard killer, then you will probably lose. Likewise for the Killer, if you mess up your first few chases, or lose a key generator early, you will probably lose.
So often if you are playing as a newbie killer, or playing a meme build or generally messing around, you're just going to lose almost immediately. Even after a bad start as a Killer, not always will survivors drop this pressure, as the game can change in an instant.
On both sides you can have bad games too, a survivor could get unlucky with a facecamping Bubba, or someone who suicides on hook. A Killer could get a 4 man OoO SWF sweat squad, or a game which is in the bag could suddenly be lost because someone found a key. Therefore you have to take your victories when you can, so I don't really blame anyone for sweating on either side.
I feel it's more of a game design issue that makes this game so sweaty and stressful (more so for the Killer).

Same. I don't do that for keys, but I am for map offerings I don't like. If it map comes up naturally, sure, I'll hang around. You wanna play Red Forest, Ormund, Haddenfield- deuces.
If you D/C in the loading screen does it still waste their offering?

did everyone missed the other items survivors brought? I mean, 2 brand new parts, paired with a key.
This obviously means they’re SWF. They were going to gen rush and use the key to escape as fast as possible. I would say they deserve it.
Btw, key is broken. Pls nerf
The thread is about people who swap the key in at the last second, so it's not obvious that it is a SWF, or that there will be a key in play.
-
I see it happen quite often, and I assume it's for one or multiple of these reasons:
- They are hoping that the Killer was looking away from the lobby for the split second the key is in their hand before the screen goes to black. Then they will try and stealth around the map, or dump the key, and then the hatch escape is more of a surprise and the Killer will not think to play around it (e.g. prevent an early hatch spawn or locate/defend the hatch).
- They are bored of waiting 8 minutes for a game and they know many Killers will dodge the lobby if they know about the key and extend the wait time.
I think it's also effective on streamers, who may be interacting with chat and can easily miss the split second change. But even then, if it's a streamer it is likely that someone in chat will catch it.
It's a risky strategy I guess, not sure why they do it to be honest.

I third that. Like, who cares at this point? Let them get their free escape if they want it so bad. You're no better, if not worse for making them bleed out for 4 minutes.
It's not like Killers can bring a free 4k though. If you want to rank up and someone pulls this off on you it's a bit frustrating.
I don't mind if someone just has a key equipped in the lobby, it's the last second switch which is sneaky and anything goes for those players (aside from abuse in the lobby, or anything against the rules, obviously)

I don't think he will, I was just saying that because that would be the requirement for me to stop playing this game sooner. He's absolutely not a weak killer either, he's really good. It's just the general opinion on the forums that certain killers like Demo are low tier even though he has one of the best map mobility tools in the game if you set it up right, and a power that can shut down the strongest tiles in the game. I definitely recommend buying Demo, he's really rewarding and fun to play.
Yeah on paper I thought his abilities seemed awesome (e.g. teleport for map control and shred for loops, e.g. ez shack).
Anyway thanks for that, I might pick him up soon. Sorry to take this thread off topic a little.

I'd rather not incur a matchmaking penalty though.
If the team isn't obviously a SWF and I don't hate the map too much I'll probably just play the game.
If it's an obvious SWF though and it's something like Haddonfield or Ormond, I sometimes just stand in a corner by the exit gate and wait. It's a depip anyway so might as well let them enjoy holding M1 on their favourite map, no point me getting stressed.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I would like for map offerings to be completely removed honestly.
Didn't the devs say one of the reasons for not including a new realm for some killers, such as Clown, was to not add more clutter to the bloodweb? I could be wrong, but I could have sworn I heard something along those lines.
I'd be fine with that too. Having it enable/disable on SWF might make the UI needlessly awkward, and I rarely see Killers run them anyway, so just removing them entirely would be fair to everyone.

Those were just random numbers, thrown in because it always looks like Killers are complaining after a lost game, even if they won all the games before and afterwards.
I only have one batch of stats:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/207979/my-stats-for-30-games-without-bloodlust
This was from the Bloodlust-experiment, I got 2,8 Kills per game and 8,9 Hooks per game, I usually prefer to go for Hooks instead of Kills (I rather get a 0K, 8 Hook-game than a 4K with 5 Hooks) and I dont slug for the 4K, unless the last person is nearby or someone I want to have dead.
You see that there are some decent games, but also complete destruction where I only got like 4 Hooks in total. And thats totally fine by me.
However, I have indeed many hours in this game (5,4k, to be precise, more on Survivor tho), so I think I know what I am talking about. But the raw number of hours is not really that impactful, it is completely individual how much skill you get. I have seen players who had only a few hundred hours who were way better than me. And meanwhile, in another Onlinegame I play, I have an even higher number of hours and am still "below average", according to the stats. Hours can be a factor, but dont mean that much.
But, like I said, I wont change my opinion, as long as I can hold Rank 1 consistently while still being a Survivor Main who does A LOT of errors as Killer, I cannot really see the game as being difficult for Killer.
(I also dont think that I will response again in this thread, this is a discussion that came up quite often already and it has nothing to do with Map Offerings and even on that topic, I have said everything I wanted)
lmao, someone with almost five and a half thousand hours on something can't say it is easy when they go and do well at it

"You just said yourself you will win 5 games in a row, lose one, and win another 5, how are you doing that, if not with skill?"
I dont know, honestly. I am not good at Killer and I only really lose many games if I play a new Killer or someone where I am not really familiar with (like Nurse, Oni or Deathslinger, which are all strong Killers on their own).
And yes, Killer is hardER than Survivor, but not hard by any means.
So you're basically claiming you can win 10 games out of 11 as a Killer, and you're saying that Killer is harder than survivor. So I suppose this means if you find survivor easier (and you obviously find Killer very easy), then you must escape pretty much every match.
So either you've got 4000 hours on the game and are now claiming it takes no skill (unaware that maybe over 4000 hours, you acquired skill), or maybe you're playing in some other region to me which is full of potatoes. I'm playing at around rank 7 on the EU servers and its basically either constant sweat squads, or potatoes. I have only been playing the game for a few months, so I can hardly expect to win every game, but this game is not easy.

I play both sides, and both sides are easy. If players try to annoy me, whatever. If they win, whatever, I can easily accept that and dont run to the Forums and complain about something which happened in that one game that I lost, after winning the 5 games before and the 5 games after that game.
If you are thinking that you are doing anything special when playing Killer or that it is very skillful in general, you are wrong.
But I dont think a discussion makes sense, since I wont change my mind. I dont think that either side is hard to play, there are games which require far more skill than DBD.
I mean you are just talking utter rubbish now.
If you are saying that Killer takes 0 skill, then obviously you could put a 5 year old who doesn't play video games into Otzdarva's chair and he'd stomp all the same teams. Or you could put a rank 20 into his first game and he'd beat a red rank team.
It's a PVP game, one side wins, and usually it will be due to the skill of those on either side. You just said yourself you will win 5 games in a row, lose one, and win another 5, how are you doing that, if not with skill?

Don't get me wrong, I can see why the mori change was good, but let's not pretend BHVR don't have a history of nerfing things to the point of being useless.
You can still use your map offerings in Solo Q I guess. Or if you're the type to hoard them for the sake of it, well you could think of them as a more valuable antique at that point...

My favorite build is actually "Shinobi Oni": Insidious, Tinkerer, Dark Devotion and Trail of Torment with Renjiro's Bloody Glove, Splintered Hull and a Hawkins offering. It's literally the most fun I've ever had on DBD. Nothing beats that time where I dropped onto a survivor already entering Blood Fury.
Moments like that would make a theatre system so awesome where you could go back and watch things from other players POV. I've always wondered what some of the Huntress snipes are like from the receiving end.

Green keys should definitely look different to keys that can open the hatch, but other than that I don't think it's too important to show rarity of the items, especially considering add-ons can vastly change how the item works anyway.

you'll usually leave with a negative taste after a session. "Nothing is meant to be fair, and apparently by design." Mathieu Cote confirmed this in an interview. you're meant to feel like you could have done something and challenge yourself, which is why players like otzdarva can play this game without getting bored or exhausted for hours. personally i can't take more than 2 matches and most of the time i don't even enjoy those 2 matches.
furthermore, the grind in this game is absolute garbage on purpose. dead by daylight NEEDS player retention and the thousands of hours grinding out every single killer and survivor each new chapter keeps bringing addicted players back even though they might not genuinely enjoy the matches anymore. i've been a victim of this myself, until i realized it doesn't matter.
lastly, the community keeps fighting each other like it's a war so behaviour can ignore feedback related to their illogical decisions. tryhards and other members come on to the forums and steam forums to voice their opinions and discuss about balance to delude themselves into thinking this game has a chance and the devs actually care. i'm going to get hate for saying that, but i've seen many many many many other games with less budget, sometimes even just 1 developer, who are capable of making 4 major patches within 3 months and usual hotfixes because they actually care for their game, compared to what behaviour does within those 3 months.
This is a really excellent summary.

That’s the whole point of Sacrificial Ward existing. If a team is dead set on their strategy working in Haddonfield, and they suspect a potential Sacrificial Ward, they’d have to burn 4 strode keys to be sure.
But what this also means for the killer is that the survivors are forfeiting any White Wards, Shrouds, Coins, or Salty Lips (if they’re doing self unhook builds + anti slug builds), which to me makes being sent to Haddonfield not feel as bad.
Who "suspects a potential sacrificial ward"???
From the survivors point of view the lobby is literally exactly the same each time, how could a team ever "suspect a sacrificial ward". LMAO
Literally every time this has happened, it's been a single Strode Key that has brought me to that wonderful map.
Have you actually ever seen 4x of any map offerings? How many times has that happened to you, I'm genuinely curious.
