I’ve yet to face a Spirit player who hasn’t tried to deliberately be a dick. So... 💁🏻‍♀️

But you haven't faced all Spirits, hence my point this is a sweeping generalization.

To answer an assumption that people who play Spirit in your experience play like dicks, I suspect they started out playing regularly powerful Killers, got sick of playing the game nicely but still getting abused in in-game chat, or subjected to teabag victory rituals, and googled "what's the strongest Killer", and proceeded to take out their annoyance on (sometimes innocent) survivors, by playing a powerful Killer, and not winning in a graceful manner. It's often the way this game goes.

  • Legion: lol bro I could actually knock you out if this game allowed me, how are you in the same roster as a Japanese Ogre that feasts on blood

  • The only thing I could think of is you have a bad connection, or live far away from them, and every time they joined your lobby, the ping was really high, so they left to get a game which would have a better ping and less lag.

Unless this is a genuine freak occurence that you happened to see this survivor more than once, and they also happened to leave the lobby for random reasons.

  • Sweeping generalization

  • I heard they were working on the Clown's jiggles next

  • Imagine someone posting a thread because good perks are on the shrine.

The ability of this community to complain about anything and everything never ceases to amaze me!

  • Just expect a lot of matches to be frustrating as you get the blink timings down. Honestly though it didn't take me long to get to a point with her where chases are quicker with her than any other Killer. At that point I find her not much more stressful than playing any Killer.

Although I guess there's always moments on maps I'm still learning what you can and can't blink through which will be annoying, but just because I have the map pressure of a Nurse, I'll already probably be less angry than I would be if I was playing that same game with Oni, for example.

It's not just red ranks I needed the 3 iri emblems to even get a pip at rank 16. oh and if someone DC's before the match starts there goes the pip I just got.

    https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Rank

According to this page, to pip at rank 16 you need 10 points. With three medals you can also pip with:

    2 Iri 1 Silver/Gold

    2 Gold 1 iri

  • Yesterday I had 3 survivor matches in a row where the Killer DC'd. The last one it was because of lag (confirmed in chat) but the rest were rage quits after 2-3 gens popped.

Let me be direct; you aren't being realistic. There is "no such animal" as a non-ranked mode that has Ques in PvP games. I'm not sure where you got such a notion. PvP games, by their nature, have to have some kind of measure to put the right people up against one another. Thus, there will always be some kind of ranking, whether you see it or not. :) Do you follow?

Thus, the only way to have a non-ranked game is for YOU and your friends to arrange one. It is never going to be available through a Que or provide you any kind of advancement or BP. These games just aren't designed that way. Dead by Daylight wouldn't, for example, profit from having a non-ranked game because all it would do is dilute the Player base in a way which makes their main Ques LONGER.

BTW games can be PVP and have non-ranked modes.

Some games off the top of my head which have ranked and unranked game modes which also find players for you:

    • Halo
    • CoD
    • Hearthstone
    • Gears of War

Pretty much all of the big games in fact.

whats with the worship-mentality to streamers within the dbd playerbase? they're regular people that play video games like you , i get watching them for entertainment but other than that...yikes.

btw, generally , streamers stream as a business . a lot of streamers actually want to break away from dbd but their view count and cashflow gets hurt. they're trapped because this game has a monopoly with its niche appeal alone.

As you say, if it is their business, and sticking with DBD affects their viewcount and cash flow, then it absolutely speaks volumes if a high profile streamer is willing to risk their monetary income and livelihood because the game is in such a bad state.

Finally a reason to use those Haddonfield offerings on my Demogorgon 🙏

Try it! I used an offering straight after this game but the larger tree must have been in a slightly different position, as its branches got in the way of shredding all the way to the tree next to the table :(

  • A 4 killers versus 1 survivor mode on Haddonfield only. FIrst to 1k wins

  • 100% yes. I'll be honest I've tunneled to the extent of dropping games over a single teabag many times

  • Depends what you mean by biggest, I'd rather not see them introduce some new significant gameplay feature or character, unsure how much complexity this code base can deal with. I'd rather their next chapter was their smallest in terms of new features. Fix what we already have.

  • 3000 pages of discussions, but probably all about the same 4 topics.

Thanks for these. :) Three of them don't apply to me, but I am often the person that gets found first, mostly because I don't bother with hiding in a bush until someone else gets found. If this keeps up though, I might have to consider becoming a bush for the remainder of the event...

Not getting found first is a big one, unless you are really good at looping and on a great map for it.

Simply not being the first one to get caught means you won't ever get tunneled, whether the tunneler in question was a genuine toxic tunneller with intent, or a killer who was forced to tunnel by an unsafe unhook, or having no other option due to gen pressure or stealthy survivors, etc.

Well glad we solved that issue XD

I play red ranks and also experience heavy tunnelling, even at five gens. And for some reason it's always me. :^)

just some ideas, not sure if any of these apply:

    • try not to be the first one spotted by the killer which increases your risk of getting farmed off the hook if your teammates are bad (i.e. don't jump on the first gen you see, learn how to hide, learn how to loop)
    • try not to be the bad teammate mentioned above and don't go for farms (unhook in Killers face) or unsafe unhooks (unhook when you suspect the Killer is proxy camping, or you don't know the Killer is pressuring another area of the map or chasing someone else)
    • don't overdo stealth, if someone is hooked and you know a teammate is going for the unhook, don't hide from the killer, try and make a diversion (e.g. pebble, fail a skill check on purpose, vault a wall) or just take a chase (again, learn how to loop)
    • don't teabag or click flashlight, I mean you could, it's up to a killer if they want this to offend them, but it will increase your risk of being tunneled

Coukdn't agree more. When i play killer, i will go all out against anyone, especially when i suspect there is SWF. I can only relax down when i killed somebody with 3 to 5 gens left, otherwise they can make a comeback really quick.

The same goes for my perk build. I won't know who i'm versing, so i will give at least 2 slots to good perks.

It's not like i have a choice. First 2 minutes in the game usually decides how the game ends. It's the fact.

Agree on the perks too, it's why you basically have to run some form of gen defense such as Ruin, Corrupt, Pop, if you want any chance against these teams. No room for fun builds, unless you're OK with losing.

It's a real shame as I'd love to play some slower, relaxed, drawn out games, not tunnel people, hook everyone evenly right up to 12 hooks, but it's not an option as decent survivors will tunnel the gens. Also I feel really bad when I do close a game out in a couple of minutes, and then see that not a single survivor was running DS/UB/Adrenaline, perhaps they were running fun/silly builds, or perhaps it was literally just baby survivors all running basic perks.

The problem is on both sides, the survivors also don't know if they're going to be against a great or aggressive Killer, so their only option is also to hit the gens straight away to give themselves some security. It's a viscous cycle.

My issue is there's so many killers doing this. It's making the game experince even worst. 3 in a row and there's more to come. I mean because the killer wants to win so badly u deny one person their ability to play. U have someone de pip or drank for the sake of your rank or your pip. My issue is a lot of people are doing it. Its very very affective. Is this gona be every killers strategy??? I can only imagine

"You have someone de pip or drank for the sake of your rank or your pip"

Dude, that's the nature of the beast in Ranked PVP. One side wins, the other loses, it usually leads to one side going up and one side going down. That's just PVP. A Killer can get a 2k in a hard fought match and still depip.

Honestly I don't see high rank Killers tunnel the first person on hook at the moment, my advice to you would be to just work on gens when you see a Killer do this, get some gens done and even if the person dies on hook you can still maybe win the game or at least pip.

When you rank up hopefully you'll see less Killers using this tactic.

  • @monster89 said:

This game is so unenjoyable right now.

Its bad enough with the worst update so far, but theres a big influx of killers using the tragedy of tunneling and camping their first hook to get rid of a player.

They either kill themselves on hook or die or disconnect.

As a solo player its basically a death sentence and gurantees 3-4k. It's like climbing up a hill for a survivor to possibly get out.

What gives people gratitude in tunneling someone to death and not letting them play for the sake of leveling up? I mean I see it a lot even with rank 1 killers.

Killers don't even feel out the match. They don't know how's its gona go. They just tunnel to death their first hook.

I got 3 in a row like this and thays why I came to vent on this forum. It's making this game un enjoyable. I undertand its tough for killers but they don't even feel out the match.

    Whats up with this?

"Killers don't even feel out the match. They don't know how's its gona go. They just tunnel to death their first hook."

The problem with this is a Killer can't "feel out the match". One minute or less into the match, 2 gens can pop at any instant. If you leave that any longer, it could be 3 gens. The Killer doesn't know if they're playing a 4 man sweat squad until it is too late. Therefore, they have to come into each match assuming it is an efficient team, and play aggressively which usually consists of slugging, snowballing, or some form of tunnelling (depends if you consider going for someone you know is on death hook, when you've hooked 2-3 other people, as tunnelling).

If you don't play aggressively right away, it can already be too late if 3 key gens pop, leaving the last 4 gens spread across the map, very difficult to defend, and you may only have 2 or 3 hooks.

The damage is already done if you are playing a casual team and you immediately snowball and have one person hooked and 2 people downed, as someone may give up at this point and suicide on hook thinking "what a sweaty killer", but it's necessary.

I’m just saying most of the small maps have the gens cluttered together, letting the killer just take a little stroll and allow them to easily patrol the gens. That’s what happened in my last match. We couldn’t get the last two gens to save us cause the gens were all so close together .

As a survivor, you can choose which gens you work on at the start of the match, so when a team finishes lots of gens close to each other, then you end up with all the remaining gens grouped up and easy for the Killer to defend.

That's not due to small maps, this is how Killers can win on bigger maps too. It's a problem with how your team played that game and perhaps not a problem with the map.

  • @Dragonshensi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1950121#Comment_1950121

I find it more miserable cause it makes it harder to get away and just a slog to do gens cause they can come back in a few seconds, break the gen, rinse and repeat.

Try playing a large map as Clown if you want a miserable experience

  • The large maps suck for Killer's with a power that doesn't help them move around the map quickly (in other words, most of them), so I think they should work on small to medium sized maps for the most part.

  • @FrootLoops said:

I suppose it depends what you consider a win. slugging a full team at 4 or 5 gens might get you iri gatekeeper, but the rest of the emblems are going to be garbage. not to mention mediocre BP at best.

the problem as I see it is that it's very short sighted to use such tactics. Sure, you will win against most teams, but you are extending the grind of unlocking all perks because you aren't maxing out your BP, and you are preventing yourself from ranking up. On top of that you are inviting salty post game messages because it's not fun to go against as a survivor, and you are creating a need for even more "balancing" from the devs to make the game fun for survivors as well as killers.

In short, yeah you 4k that match, but in the long run you are just ruining everyone's enjoyment of the game, yours included

Ha, I love it how people seem to think that you get nice messages when you beat survivors with a 12 hook, no camping, no tunnelling, perfect game. Nope, you still get insulted pretty often, and/or get the validity of your win questioned.

Even if you lose, whilst playing by the survivor rulebook, with a low tier killer, you can still get insulted.

Avoiding salt, or not hurting survivors feelings, is absolutely no reason to not slug.

I see your points but then again, much bigger horror figures like Myers, Freddy or Leatherface can get that treatment as well.

True, and I can probably never seriously watch a Halloween film again XD

  • Can confirm. This happened to me earlier. It was EGC and I alt tabbed out of the game for a second, came back and could see every gen on the map. Wasn't sure if alt-tab caused it or if I just didn't notice them before I switched windows,

  • Spirit isn't too powerful, the other Killers are too weak (illustrated by the fact at high-level/tournament play only Spirit, Nurse and Hag are really viable)

  • No thanks, all the great atmosphere and mystery surrounding slenderman would be totally ruined once you see him carrying a screaming Feng in full Bunny outfit over his shoulder before hoisting her onto a hook. Or getting dead harded through a pallet and teabagged by a shirtless David King and proceeding to M1 the wall in frustration.

No? I don't care if someone is good or not. I just don't like this unsportsmanlike behavior at the end of the round.

Unfortunately DBD is rife with unsportsmanlike behavior, on both sides. I have left chat enabled for a long time for the few matches when someone is pleasant, but I'm so close to just turning it off at this point as I get toxicity from survivors at least 3x per session, in victory or defeat.

  • Yeah I just saw the banner above.

I'm guessing it's related to the desync issues or is this something else entirely?

  • Don't understand why you would have a problem with people using a similar name such as a clan tag or whatever, it's being honest and letting the Killer know they are about to face a SWF. It's better than random names disguising the fact it is a SWF.

People wearing the same outfits is a bit of a cheap tactic though yeah

  • It's like a drug, once you've been off for a few days it's easier to move on

  • That's what the 50k bloodpoints you got for logging on were for, for doing the playtesting

  • How is Deliverance an anti-camp perk? If someone camps, and you use it in front of them, you're going straight back down.

If anything Deliverance punishes people who DON'T camp, as you want to use this perk when they are nowhere near the hook.

I'd swap Deliverance for We're Gonna Life Forever, which would make this even more effective at anti-slugging, as you are now slug-proof with Unbreakable, and can quickly pick up other slugs.

They're all useless. Dead heard. Lithe. Sprint burst. This game is broken. Survivor sided? I think not. I was lucky to come out with 2 games survived before, but now? I haven't survived a single game since the release. And rank? You can forget about anything but backwards movement.

This game is broken. *Smh* they're gonna lose a lot of people over this and tbh not many are probably going to come back.

I play Killer mainly but I've survived a lot of games as survivor too (solo queue), maybe evaluate your plays rather than blame the game.

  • @TruffleTurtle said:

I always see a bunch of people complain about tunneling and camping but like I feel like i never encounter those things. Im not devaluing anybody's experience in the game, I'm just saying through mine, I never see it. Only time somebody camps in my match is end game which I don't blame them for and tunneling is not as rare but not very common

No I very rarely experience it as a red rank survivor. I remember seeing a lot of it though when facing rank 20 Killers.

If by tunnelling you mean someone going out of their way to repeatedly rehook the first player they saw. Occasionally I'll see some tunnelling by a Killer when they have hooked multiple people but they are under lots of pressure from gens going quickly.

  • I'm still not sure why DBD is such a toxic game, I think it's something to do with the fact that games are usually either a decisive victory for the killer, or a decisive victory for the survivors, so someone is always feeling a bit annoyed after a loss. Also when they finally get a win they will not take that win gracefully either.

If you still enjoy the game, just try and look past it I guess. Maybe just take comfort in the fact that people who go to the extent of messaging you clearly have their own issues in life they are taking out on a video game.

Also, just a warning, if you decide to stay, and do get better, just be prepared for more hate mail. Currently you're experiencing the noob bashing, but once you get good, people will start to message you just to criticise your tactics, or make excuses for them losing. Sadly it seems a part of the game.

There are a few wholesome players in the community who are gracious in victory and defeat, and will call out your good plays. Just enjoy those rare messages when you do get them.

You know the worst part is that if a survivor escapes without doing anything the whole game gets more points than survivors who did ######### but died

5000 points for esaping isn't that much, if you do significantly better than a survivor who escaped you could still quite easily net 20-25k points and they end up with 10-15k even when escaping.

Well when the Open Handed buff goes live that’ll give Left Behind a 48m range.

That will help somewhat I guess.

  • I feel like it should give you some benefit throughout the game too. A perk that requires all your teammates to be dead is never going to make it into any serious competitive build.

Also the range is still terrible on detecting the hatch, and on a large map still requires you to be well positioned and lucky to even get the hatch before the killer does.

So yeah it's a pretty terrible use of a perk slot imo.

Thanks for the thought, but i’m taking a break from giving advice and getting mostly backlash from it.

People appreciate your advice. I think the "backlash" (or just people giving opposing opinions) was more for the tone of the post and the insinuation people who thought clown was weak just weren't brainy enough.

  • BT that applies on yourself not only goes against the theme of the perk but it would probably be too strong. If you had a swf with just 1 person with BT it's just guaranteed safe unhooks for the whole game.

  • Nope, today I played Haddonfield, Ormond, Yamaoka Estate, amongst others. I think I got 2 Macmillan maps.

  • I think I escaped 4 out of my last 5 games so I'd disagree it's unplayable, there's been a few hits which were a bit questionable, but I've been playing as conservatively as possible I guess with earlier dead hards and pallet drops
