While this is correct, Bamboozle was a band-aid introduced for really strong Windows which existed back in the Day when the Perk came first out (and Windows were more problematic, because there is no way for the Killer to remove a window permanently). Blood Favor does not have this purpose.
Fair enough. But now we need a band aid for the new god pallet Game map

If you think it's literally useless I'm not sure you've actually used it. The trouble isn't that the effect isn't useful; it's that it's a moderately useful effect that comes with the high risk of being a hex perk, so the value isn't there. It's comparable to a perk like Huntress Lullaby in that you can get decent use out of it in certain builds, but it's usually not useful enough to be worth the risk.
I don't think "this perk could be much stronger without breaking the game" is a great metric for balance either. You could say that about like 90% of the perks in the game.
I was only using that very specific metric because the person I was quoting directly said that because pallets were fundamental to the game the perk would always have to be weak.
-
What was the last one you unlocked?

@Aven_Fallen said:
Too many safe decisions which make the Perk even weaker. Pallets are a fundamental aspect of the game, so the Devs need to be really careful what they do. Something like Spirit Fury is already not really healthy, but something that prevents Pallets from being dropped can be even more unhealthy.
And because of that, whatever the Devs will do to Blood Favor, it will always be a weak Perk. Blood Favor by design cannot be a strong Perk.
Windows are a fundamental aspect of the game but Bamboozle exists and is a strong perk. Hex: Blood Favour could be much stronger than it is now and still not be game breaking.
Not only is it weak, it is literally useless.
-
I feel it should just apply to the target you hit, rather than apply to pallets in range.
When you hit a survivor, they can't drop a pallet anymore for some period of time. Then you can keep the cooldown as it's actually not trash anymore.
It would also counter dead hard for distance to some extent.

For a game that is about death and gore, the community is treated like we're all children. Is quite pathetic tbh.
It feels like a large portion of the community is children though

I am not good with alphabetical orders in something like DBD. The pages are not like an excel sheet with a clear simple view. There are perks wit unusual starting like "A Nurse's calling" instead of "Nurse's calling" <- guess which one I am thinking about when searching for it...
It's funny though that two people have brought up Nurses now, it's literally the first perk on the list so you don't need to search lol.
I get your point though, would be useful to be able to search for a text match in the name, e.g. "devour" rather than "hex: devour"
Even better would be to search any text on the perk description. E.g. you search for "exposed" and it gives you any perk containing exposed, e.g. dragons grip, MYC, etc...
I believe hearthstones card search works this way
-
Never really had a problem finding perks because it's alphabetical, so if I know the name of the perk I can track it down quickly by switching pages, I'd expect typing to not be much quicker.
Wouldn't hurt though I guess.
-
It will probably be enough when the game is balanced

Ok? And it doesn’t give you as much distance as the first two. What’s your point?
You can 99% SB and you call that effort? Just because you may not like how the perk works doesn’t mean it’s unfair.
You still have to time Dead Hard for it to actually work. If the killer is good they will wait it out and out position the survivor.
Your opinions on Lithe still do not explain how that is more fair than DH. When they both essentially give you distance when you should have gone down.
In my experience Sprintburst and Lithe are more about avoiding a chase. If someone uses this perk in front of me I probably won't chase them as they've got their distance now, unless I have no other people to chase or gens to defend.
Dead Hard however is used mid chase so has a higher potential to waste time, you already invested time into the chase, maybe a lot of time if they're good at looping. You don't know if they have DH til it's too late and you get outplayed by it. Often at this point too you are so out of position that it may be the best option to keep chasing that person and waste more time.
I feel sprint burst and Lithe are more "up front" and counterable for this reason.

And I'm thinking all this effort for what 10 to 15 thousand points, now that I know it's possible you might not make it out especially playing solo I aim to get as much blood points as possible why end the game so fast and get so little points what's the point ain't the reward at the end of the game bloodpoints
15k points for 4 minutes to slug and hook the team is better than 50k for a 20 minute game tbf

People are just mad because they are trying to do nurse challenges and literally everyone is metagaming hard and taking dead hard; which is a super hard counter to nurse.
You'll probably see a lot of these threads on and off until the tome ends or there are no nurse challenges for folks to do.
Nah I was seeing 4 DHs per game before this tome

A game does not have to be difficult for people being bad at it.
Typically, saying someone is bad at something is the same as saying they are not skilled at it, which implies a skill difficulty.

I've had this game for a couple of months and I'm clueless. Anyone know what to do?
Is there an option to verify the game files or something? Maybe steam lost track of the folder somehow, or the files are corrupt

I mean, both sides being easy does not mean that they are equally strong/weak. This would be a little bit too trivial. And I even said that Killer is harder than Survivor, and it should also be more difficult. Otherwise, there would be 0 reason to play Survivor (at least when you dont want to play with friends), because then Killer would be the side with:
- more variety
- higher BP-gain
- faster queue times
when both would be equally easy. Especially the BP-gain would be a thing, because many people defend Killer getting so much more BPs, because it is more difficult. And it is quite logical that the side with the 1 is harder than 4, but that does not make the side with 1 player really hard to play.
And me having a lot of hours does not mean that much IMO. I lose against players on both sides with far less hours. I think after a certain amount of time played the hours dont mean that much anymore, DBD is mostly about knowledge and at some point, you cannot have more knowledge than what the game can provide. (Also I know players with almost 10k hours who are not good at the game)
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1955583#Comment_1955583
Could be possible, but like I said, I doubt it.
And well, you see Killers complain about various Perks all the time, complaining about Gen Speeds (which are not too fast), especially focussed on the early game ("Two Gens done in 2 minutes!!!11" *wins game with 2 Gens left*), complaining about SWF. Even tho, I dont say that all Survivor complaints are really justified, e.g. players who simply complain about BBQ or NOED without any reasoning should not be taken serious. But that goes for both sides, even tho the most tiresome are the SWF-complaints, because it always boils down to people thinking that playing with friends activates a god mode.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1955605#Comment_1955605
Yeah, this is basically the point in every PvP-game. But, this does not mean that own mistakes dont matter. Like, I got farmed by some dude against a Pyramid Head while being tormented, I got downed with Punishment of the Damned and caged. That guy called the PH a tunneler, despite him being so dumb to get me. Same with Killers saying that they got "genrushed", after comitting to a chase for far too long and ignoring others working on Gens right next to them. Both are mistakes, but they try to blame the other side.
So while it is important what the other side does (because, like you said, it requires how much the player itself has to do), the player playing is the only constant variable in every game. And I feel some people dont really think about that and try to blame their own mistakes on the game/the other side.
And trust me, on both sides players make TONS of mistakes. But it is always easier to say that you lost because the others were probably in an SWF or because that Killer tunneled or whatever you wanna come up with.
Regardless of one being more easy than the other, you said they were both easy, which is not really possible. It doesn't matter how simple something appears, if it's a competitive situation between two people, how easy it is depends on the other person always.
Also, if you know people who have 10k hours, and are still not even "good", this further invalidates your point that either side is easy.

I was done playing survivor for a while so i wanted to play as killer but its worse because all you have to do is patrol gens i simply dont have enough time to make it to a gen that is being repaired because it will already be fixed by the time i get there then another gen pops i head towards it then the gen is repaired i was literally in a match where the survivors got gens working and escaped in under 5 minutes.
Im going back to playing as survivor to be honest its not fun playing as killer.
Maybe it's because I didn't find my "main" yet, and I'm constantly flicking between new killers (got Blight yesterday), yes I find it quite difficult to play Killer, although only beyond purple ranks. I stomped through yellow/green ranks barely dropping a 4K, but things change bigtime around purple and red ranks, when you consistently get survivors who know how to play (or who know how to form a SWF).
The thing that makes it frustrating for me is the amount of people who elect to t-bag and BM. I wouldn't mind losing, as I always learn something in a game I lose, it's just annoying when players on the much easier side seem to want to play just to frustrate and demean their opponent. Honestly I get the impression lots of them play DBD only because it's so unbalanced, and they like the feeling of winning. These are the same people you see DCing or suiciding on hook early, as soon as they realise the game is not going their way.
Drop pallet? Tbag. Flashlight blind? Tbag. Oh you guessed the mindgame correctly at the unsafe pallet? Tbag. Oh you have DS? Tbag. It's tedious and annoying, and these players deserve long queue times.

To be fair - playing Killer IS easy. I know that you Killers like to have a Thread were you can talk about how HARD and SKILLFULL this game is as Killer, but the reality is that playing both sides is easy in this game because DBD is not difficult at all.
It is a complete casual game on both sides. Killer is harder than Survivor, but thats about it.
If both sides are easy, then surely this is impossible? How could winning as a Survivor be easy, but winning as a Killer is also easy at the same time? You probably just think both sides are easy because you've got 6000 hours in the game, and typically you play people with less hours than you.
Surely you can see that both roles cannot be objectively easy at the same time?
If you come against good survivors, as a Killer, it might be a difficult game, and you need use skill to overcome it.
If you come against a good Killer, as a team of survivors, it might be a difficult game, and you need to use skill to overcome it.
Both of them cannot be easy at the same time, it's literally impossible.

It helps against nurse, one of the strongest killers in the game...how is that an issue? She's just gonna blink again and get them next time.
OK but it's not like survivors then just don't use it when they're facing a weaker Killer. No they're gonna extend that chase into a 30 second chase against other Killers from Oni to the Trapper.
The same way people who claim they are using Iron Will to counter Spirit, conveniently forgetting that it gives them a huge advantage in stealth and mind games against all the other Killers too.

Of course it will make it worse, but my problem with complaining about dead hard is that it's trying to solve a symptom rather than the root cause. You could very easily make the same argument about nearly every exhaustion perk (I'd argue sprint burst or lithe is worse because it gets them to safer loops or escape to another safe loop from an unsafe one). Losing 2 gens in itself isn't a problem if you have solid map control over where the remaining gens are (hell as Trapper / hag you're expected to let a few go early). But let's say for argument's sake that the dev's did nerf DH, you can be damn sure they won't fix gen speeds at that point because then they'd have to go back and undo a load of nerfs to perks people complained about. Fix the fundamental problem, then we can see whether dead hard or any other exhaustion perk needs tweaking.
Yeah I suppose, Dead Hard is easier to fix than introducing a new objective or overhauling the current game mode :P

Whoop de do, if we're going to play that game there's plenty of killers (including streamers) who still demolish teams running Dead Hard + whatever other meta perks. Those players don't lose because of a single or even 4 dead hards, they lose because the fundamental problem of aggressively sitting on gens and having some moderate looping skills causes a huge amount of pressure before even factoring in anything else such as perks. That isn't a problem exclusive to Dead Hard, it's a problem with the underlying game design and nerfing the former would do very little to change that.
Nullify isn't quite the right word, but powers can reduce the impact it has. Nurse, spirit, Freddy, huntress (situational), deathslinger (situational), pyramid head etc. all have ways of dealing with a post dead hard situation. If you use to get to the window you can still be caught by specific killers mid animation lock. Trapper is obviously the biggest sufferer under dead hard and that should certainly be fixed.
Well sure, the main problem is always going to be gen speeds vs 12 hooking and lack of objectives for survivors. Dead Hard can still make that worse though, as it can significantly extend chase times and make this imbalance in Survivor/Killer objectives even worse (the classic 2 gens popping in the first chase is even worse when the chase is prolonged by DH, and then the chases after that...)
-
Nurse is capable of taking people down fast, they're probably worried you're pretending to be nice before slugging them all inside of 20 seconds.
Honestly if you want to figure out how to blink, just throw the plaid flannel on and play a game normally. You will figure out how far you jump quick enough, and you probably want to learn how survivors avoid and juke the nurse sooner rather than later.
Survivors will quickly realise you're a new nurse, and the nice ones may linger around the exit gate to give you extra time to practice chases for a free hit or two.

This was always going to be predictable, the moment DS got nerfed (which was needed) people would start going after something else. We've had threads crying about spine chill, Dead hard and I'm pretty sure there was one about sprint burst recently. Yeah it's a pain to go up against but for christ sake some people just want every survivor perk gutted to the point of uselessness. A lot of killers have powers that can either nullify or at least offset DH's impact in a chase.
You have to be injured to use it, it's not hugely reliable and it gives an exhaustion debuff. If the survivor is in a loop its entirely situational as to whether they'll get value out of it and if they're in the open you just as easily can bait it out. Quite bluntly this just sounds like people who aren't that good at killer are upset survivors actually have some decent tools in their arsenal. With the exception of Gideon Meat Plant, most pallets are gone, there are tons of unsafe tiles now and maps have generally been made smaller. Generator speeds are a problem, as is the lack of meaningful objectives on the survivor side. There are legitimate issues to be concerned with but Dead Hard isn't one of them.
Two Killer's I watch regularly on Twitch with probably 10k hours combined between them both name Dead Hard as their most powerful (or least favourite) survivor perk, so tell us again how it's only people who aren't good at Killer who find a problem with the perk.
Also I don't think any powers nullify Dead Hard, it's the opposite way around lol (DH avoids Nurse blink, Huntress hatchets, Trapper traps, etc.)

Killers have a compulsion to always 4K. Killers complain even when they 4K. The game is just fortunate to have an abundance of casual survivors to fill in and satisfy the egos of killers. Most of whom do not come to forums to complain. They either re-queue to lose again (be camped, tunneled, slugged, or killrushed) or they quit.
Survivors are more receptive of losing, killers are not.
As always, literally not a single sentence in your post is factually correct.

@DetailedDetriment said:
This title can be said about a lot of perks that don't even cross your mind. Prove Thyself can make gens pop before you can cross the map, but no one really thinks about it.
Gens popping is a part of the game and it's inevitable, that gen was already likely to go if it was at the other side of the map, the whole game is about selecting an objective to secure and you have to sacrifice them. Prove Thyself just makes the process quicker.
Also Prove Thyself requires 2 people on 1-gen which might be preferable to having people spread on gens, so its risky.
Dead Hard is a little different as you have dedicated time and effort into that chase, and essentially that time (and more) is wasted when it is extended with Dead Hard.
So I guess Dead Hard is always literally in your face which is why it's more of a visible problem.
-
I'd like to remove map offerings.
Not sure on the voting idea. As usual SWF would ruin it, SWFs could all vote for one map, Killer would vote for other map, so it would just be a tie and end in a random map.
In Solo Queue, the solo's will either all vote for the survivor sided map, in which case it's same as the above, or the solo's would vote for different things, and the Killer's vote would basically always win, being worth 4 votes.
Random is the way to go IMO.
-
If Oni had access to blood shortly before the fight, I can see him going into rage mode and putting a few dents into Pyramid Head's Pyramid Head.
However I'd love to know how big Pyramid's Head actual Head is, I'm assuming it doesn't fill that big triangle, so maybe he'd just tank the hits. So maybe Oni would have more chance going for his unarmoured body with his sword.
PH has an obvious ranged advantage with his power and also has a larger weapon, but I'd imagine Oni to be the better sword fighter and could work around Pyramid's slow attack.
Honestly this one is tough to call!

All 3 perks are crutches, really. Especially a high mobility killer with any tracking perks, beacons telling killer where to go in a horror game. With BBQ a high mobility killer is always instantly downing someone and it does make it impossible to get gens done. Now add in slowgen perks like Ruin and PGTW and you see what is happening. All of these perks are winning a lot of killer games.
BBQ doesn't mean an instant down, it just means they know where you are. They still have to move to that location, and then use skill to actually secure the down.
If BBQ to you is an instant down, then maybe you should not stay in the exact same location when BBQ is activated, or learn how to not die instantly (you can run away from Killers you know, also there are pallets and vaults on the map to make that easier).

It has the same exact issues that basically all of survivor period has in a perfect perk form.
In the hands of an ok survivor, it can grant them a few seconds of chase. They dodge the killer but have bought themselves only a few seconds as the killer is still on their back.
In the hands of a great player though, it's downright devestating. They get to a Double L window set and loop it for 30 seconds. You finally get your hit and as you kill another 20 chasing them, your hard fought down is here...until they DH into another super loop. Now ANOTHER 30 seconds is down the drain as gens pop left and right.
Like everything about survivor, in the hands of a great player, the killer is screwed. The people saying don't nerf it are those average to good players who don't use it in such an effective manner that it breaks the entire game for a killer.
It's what will always be a problem with this game as it's not designed for the E Sport Super Pro but some survivors are just really good at the game and a killer can't do a whole lot about it except hope the survivor somehow screws it up. Shockingly, that's incredibly frustrating for a killer who can do everything right and still get punished for it...
+1, this post should be put in a sticky thread on top of the forum, and also printed, framed, and posted to be put on the wall of all survivor mains bedrooms.
If you take this excellent explanation, and then multiply it by 4, as Dead Hard is used by almost all survivors at high ranks lately, then you have a good summary of the problem.

Props to you for not using OP survivor builds!
Honestly, dead hard for distance can be a bit situational or tricky to pull off, the chase needs to be timed and positioned well in order to use the DH at the right moment to get to another pallet, or a loop depending on the map, but when it is used to extend a chase another 30 seconds (easily done if the person is also great at looping and on a good map), it can be devastating to a Killer's pressure, especially if it's the first chase, as its basically just lost you multiple generators.

It would be hilarious to force them endure at least a few hours of M1 red rank competitive killer level gameplay. Would be fun seeing how quickly they'll change their boots.
They would probably quit the game 🤣
I can tell from the comments these are the same people who complain about tunnelling when you kill them with 4 BBQ stacks.
-
Just wait until the rank reset takes you back to 20, it's far far easier to get a Merciless due to the pip requirements in these ranks.
Getting a merciless is difficult at high ranks because efficient teams pop gens faster than you can handle by chasing and 12 hooking everyone (which is basically what you need to get merciless). This is even worse if you're running an Adept build with pretty bad perks.
Also don't forget you can run any OP add-ons to help, just the perks need to be the 3 teachables.

its just like, if you fall for DH is just your fault, in the first time is ok
in second time its just all your fault
Like just dont swing every time that you know that someone has DH, it isnt that hard
Not to repeat a point that's already been made about 100 times, the problem isn't when Dead Hard avoids a hit (which can be baited), the problem is using Dead Hard to gain distance to get to a pallet or window, and extend a chase another 30 seconds (if you're a good looper). You can't bait that out.
-
@Mugombo said:
So you say dead hard is busted because it allows the survivor to avoid a hit where he would have normally been hit, okay I can see why that’s strong.
But what about all the killer perks and add ons they allow the killer to get a hit where he normally wouldn’t have been able to?
Both exactly the same but because one is for survivors it’s OP and broken? I love played both roles, I don’t often use dead hard, but something like bamboozle gets me more free hits than dead hard gives me free health states.
Which perks do you mean?
STBFL? This is different, you need to gather stacks on this before it becomes useful, you also need to play strategically to either not attack the obsession, or grab/special attack them. You need to work for STBFL, Dead Hard you just need to lose a chase.
On top of that, you've got all the normal arguments around it's an asymmetrical game, the Killer's perks need to be roughly 4x stronger than the survivors perks. A survivor needs to take around 6 hits (2 per each hook state) before they lose. A Killer has to make 6x4, or 24 hits. Therefore, a survivor avoiding 1 hit is much more significant for that survivor, than a Killer gaining 1 hit.
So even if STBFL was stronger than Dead Hard, it should be.

It's completely fine. Nothing more I need to say. I have no problems with it as killer.
Yes I can plainly see you have nothing more to say dude

DH is fine... 🙄
Hehe, look at the paragraphs of justification people have came up with problems with Dead Hard, and then this guy just comes and justifies his argument with three words.
Kind of sums up the brain power you have on each side of the Dead Hard debate, and shows why its so frustrating having this discussion.
Either that or I fell for the troll bait

You can sit on window vaults if you can land on them at a specific angle in a certain way. It's very very hard, took me like 100 tries to do it the first time.

It's still not. If you try and enjoy Haddonfield the fun police will show up and arrest you.
Still, this is probably the only thing worth doing on haddonfield. I should just do this next time, looks more fun than trying to actually play on that garbage map.
On nice, I'll try the window vault. Do you do the shred just from ground level onto the window vault, or from a hill or something?

It's pretty easy to get on top of filler tiles on macmillan, so long as you have a hill nearby. You can also get on a truck on Haddonfield, you do so by shredding from the Myers' house front window, and if the red truck spawns in front, you're in business. Not as fun as spacebilly though, bring my boy back :(
When you say filler tiles do you just mean the short objects like barrels, etc?

It would be great if the forums were linked to our DBD accounts in some way, so we could see the rank 18 Killer accounts the people have who post these threads
