When you play competitively, you get competitive survivors.

When you play the game like a game and have fun, you play against others that play to have fun.

Relax, take in the sights and have fun with your fellow gamers. When the match is over the only thing that remains is bloodpoints.

wise words my friend. something i have to try and keep in mind when the tbaggers come

  • uh, ok a perk combo that is super rarely run and also not all that impressive doesnt have a counter? game breaking.

  • im find with slurs being censored, whatever but yea some normal every day words are censored. one time i was saying something to a bill in egc and "bill" was literally censored. what?

And they oddly think this is how we want to play. I was ready to run off but since all 3 of you are here, lets party!

its hilarious when survs spam vault in an empty map to get you to leave the hook or gens and its like

Thanks for advertising your doing literally nothing! ill continue to ignore you while i go after the people actually causing a threat.

survs trying to get me to chase them usually just tells me not to chase them because they either are very confident in their looping(and i cant counter loop well at all), or they are screening for another move being made by the others.

  • ohTofu will be jealous. hes been trying that for a while

  • i dont really have a main, im rotating between different ones to see what they are like but trapper is the only level 50 i have. he may have his struggles and some gaaaaarbage maps for him but when your games work right and your traps do some work he is incredibly satisfying.

  • @Carrow said:

What I hate most about 4ks is that the competitive side of me will absolutely urge me to hunt down the last survivor, while the rational bit is screaming at me to just close hatch and let them escape through a gate so that my MMR isn't raised too much. It literally doesn't matter how a game ends, I'll be miserable.

i feel that buddy. i do let 4rth person go sometimes out of kindness but id be lying if lowering the amount my mmr goes up isnt a factor in the decision.

  • i like rpd. as surv it took a long time to work out where gens would be and there is one particular part of the map i hate cuz i keep running into a dead end but the map looks super cool and sure, some killers have a harder time on it but thats like the same with all maps. its a unique looking map and i would enjoy more maps like it.

running through a cornfield where survs disappear if they make any turn at all is not fun 5 times in a row

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/319804/do-any-other-killers-find-4ks-bittersweet

Yeah, especially now that I've started learning the survivor role.

    That said:

    • If you're fun, not BM or exploitative I'll probably give hatch or gate (I prefer to give gate, it's worth more BP to both of us). Very rarely, I'll even let a duo go.
    • I feel no guilt about 4king when people are rude.

when players arent being "abusive" like clicky clicks, body blocking(i get its a valid startegy but in angers me so much) flexing all their metas and clearly treating you like a toy, many times i still have fun even if i lost. I have let a surv go that would only have been my one kill the game simply because it felt like everyone was playing to have fun and cared about the fun for both sides.

If you have fun, and i have fun, the "winning" part is less important to me. Its just sad many people dont hold that same view. and that makes the losing part suck.

  • @cburton311 said:

How is dead harding for distance any different then, lithe, sprint burst, or balanced landing. They all grant 150% speed for 3 seconds, which if I am doing my math right is a ~5m distance gain on the killer (4m/s * 150% = 6m/s for 3 seconds = 18 meters of distance traveled, killer travels 4.6*3 - 13.8 m or 4.4*3=13.2 m depending on running speed).

After dead hard do all these other perks need to get nerfed next?

Of course, perks should grant the user of the perk an advantage when used?

im not too bothered by DH personally as im not in High mmr as killer so most people dont use dh optimally but DH has no cons really. sprint burst for example, you cant run if its not on cooldown or you will activate it. which means you move around the map slower. balanced landing is much more situational than DH as it only works if you jump off something.

DH doesnt have a situational aspect other than be injured which unless a game is utterly one sided you should always encounter.

  • i give up sometimes in a match when i see survs are gonna just do all gens in 5 mins and refuse to let me get hooks by constant flashing and body blocks and or are all loop gods so there is no point in me running around so they cant tbag at the end gates.

Yes, but they want to play and they can't when they get tunneled and have no anti-tunnel perks. It's a relief to get a survivor like that as killer, but nobody wants to be that survivor. I've only been in that position a couple of times, but I have to say if that was like half my survivor matches, I would have stopped playing survivor entirely.

If survs dont let games play out and pop gens as fast as humanely possible with maps illed with safe loops everywhere. killers dont have much choice.

  • i dont think its recent. but you can go over 1 mill from the login points you get from devs

  • I try to avoid tunneling and camping, I understand its unfun to a survivor whos out of a game right away. But on the other hand way too many games finish WAY too fast to allow a killer to not. how am I gonna spread around hooks and chases if 2 plus gens are done before i even see another survivor, another gen done by the time ones hooked because of how many safe loops are right next to each other ect.

Yesterday i had multiple games where 4 gens were done before i got hook 2. And sure, maybe i just suck but then why am i going against people who can do that stuff so fast?

and i swear more than a small number of people are using speed hacks. there are lots of chases where it seems rather clear you are not going 10-15% faster....

  • @Steel_Eyed said:

In a world where killers can only grab injured survivors, killers can still camp (or proxy or be super strategy guy as Suzu says) the hook and apply pressure there. Just not the automatic down with a grab.

I think killers are crutching on this mechanic too much rather than taking (and learning to win) chases.

I enjoy chasing when I actually have the time to do them. when survs know what they are doing and make sure people are always on gens the game is over so fast and it is so humiliating to have 0 kills when survs refuse to leave after they have the gates open, they wanna sit 2 inches from the safe exit so you literally can do nothing while they taunt in safety. The games i have the most fun in, regardless of 4ks or 0ks are games that go longer. period. Those games I feel like i actually got a chance to play. Not pick trapper and before i even got traps 2 down 2 gens just popped at the same time. then people get mad when killers run NOED because "no skill" i dont mind DH and company but those are "no skill perks" as well

edit: but to add on real fast, people who camp at 5 gens left are lame

  • When many games 3-4 gens are done within 5 mins what do you expect? there isnt TIME to do 10 chases in some games when a survivor has meta perks and absurd amounts of safe loops.

There isnt TIME to spread out hooks when any decent survivor can make a chase 30-60+ seconds in length

I avoid camping but when survivors dont give me time to even play the game you best bet im at MINIMUM proxy camping the only survivor i got a hook on that game

Games that actually take time to play out I dont camp because i dont need to. I have TIME the thing survivors have and killers dont to be able to chase.

But dont get mad at us when you dont give us a chance to play and all 4 sit to tbag taunt at the exit and insult us in game chat when we say gg.

  • personally for pin head(imo) dont bother using his hook ability. you miss and lose distance. you hit and you probably wont even gain distance as you stop moving when using it and surv doesnt. I just ignore it all together and let chain hunts do the work. just be prepared to start breaking alot of pallets.

I feel pig requires the 30% quicker m1 to make her usable but thats just me. and i think her brown addons are best. 30 percent quicker crouch is really powerful or helpful to move between gens faster yet also stealth. I love her, but Winning is not my thing with her haha

  • @White_Owl said:

I like the concept but her sound design doesn't click for me, I don't know why. Plus I don't like much her game mechanic of hold M2, click M1, then wait, than hit E, all to shoot a projectile. It feels sloppy kinda like old Doctor.

i dont even notice her sounds really. im too focussed. adn her power is a bit clumsy. had to rebind shoot from control because that was miserable to use.

  • been playing artist all day, so hopefully it was me ;)

Oddly, I don't mind Hags too much - probably because I've played so much Hag myself. They tend to be slow enough that I can evade them even if I hit a jumpscare trap.

Trappers...oh man. A good Trapper scares the hell out of me. Running away, doing fine then snap.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2901601#Comment_2901601

Thus far, I'm okay against Nurse. Naturally the good ones are nigh unbeatable, but they tend to struggle to catch me, probably because I'm enough of a survivor beginner that even I don't know where I'm going half the time.

i feel that. ive lost chases because i see a loop spot and prepare to intercept and the surv just potatoes into the nether realm and i lose them lmao

  • all of them lol. I dont play meta, i play what i find fun and i cant loop to save my life(lol)

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

Because her power is makes survivors hold shift + w, they know they can not stay at loop if i put crow. And this makes game unfun for both sides.

Its not fun for killer when most maps have safe loops every 5 feet.

  • I started playing artist and she is very good imo. Looping is a non issue but i find she struggles(with my usage) on 2 story maps.

Plague is also pleasant if looping is an issue. get them sick. they loop you and get hurt. they loop you while you have corrupt purge they get hurt or downed.

Trapper can also be effective if you focus on protecting 3 gens close by and trap the loops there. but he is super hit or miss depending on survs.

Im no means new to the game but Looping is so utterly frustrating. i simply dont have the skillset to beat these masters of the game that know where every palet is and optimum pathing to go from one safe loop to the next. I HATED killer until i started to find killers i could use and find success even without being good at counter looping. Looping is still my enemy but at least i win games sometimes now.

if you cant counter loop with a killer, NOED is a must. so many teams bust gens out so fast you dont possibly have a chance without it to get one kill. For killers who can fight loops i dont use it except for trapper because he is weak enough I need it for him. plague and artist its not needed for me.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2903628#Comment_2903628

Sure, but that's her entire counterplay. You can't really loop a good Artist.

She places a bird correctly in a loop, you need to run to the next tile.

She snipes you on a gen from across the map? You need to hop in a locker to kill the birds.

Her entire kit promotes an extremely boring game for both sides.

idk, i find it nice to not spend my games that already can be over within a few minutes at safe loop spot to safe loop spot against people who have thousands of hours doing it.

  • @JimbusCrimbus said:

It was never the healing rate that was the issue. The problem with CoH is the same problem every boon has. It's not what it does. It's what it offers.

If there was a limit to how much it could be used, like, making it so a totem could only be booned once, it would be a lot better. Killers take exception to it in it's current form because they can't A) destroy the boon, but only snuff it out leaving the same totem boonable again, and B) When a killer's totem is cleansed, it's gone. They can't get it back. Survivors can just keep booning and booning, and killers can't do ######### about it.

Pimento says hello. tho of course not everyone would have that perk

  • @ThanksForDaily said:

Not a challenging killer. Auto pilot.

by not challenging you mean survivors cant run from one safe pallet to the other taking up 5 mins of a chase

  • @Sepex said:

As mentioned her sound effects are enough for me to stay clear.

I can see that, with as much as you have to put out birds the screeching can be annoying, especially when hearing running and pain sounds is covered up by WHAAAAAUGH every 5 seconds

  • @El_Gingero said:

I have relatively limited experience with her as I’m just getting to grips, but I don’t actually find the hold w boring. The survivor running away is always under threat of a snipe, and you can use this to your advantage to either snipe them outright, which is highly satisfying, or to zone them into a bad position, which I don’t mind as there’s a bit of a back and forth between me and the survivor with some fun little strategies such as cutting them off from their intended direction and towards a loop or dead zone.

it feels like there is alot more interaction going on too which makes her feel much more enjoyable imo. You can almost constantly be applying some form of pressure and depending on the team you can very effectively halt progress least when i am having a good combo game with jolt and resonance. with her you wont ever have a game where 4 gens are done before you find a surv which are probably the most frustrating games to have. I just lost my last game(4 escapes) but still had a good time. Survivor still called me trash at the end tho =(

  • @Crowman said:

Idk if I would say she's boring.

But her power isn't intuitive to use and fairly hard to master. It's not effective to trap pallets or vaults against good survivors, because they'll take advantage of your set up to make distance. Her main strength is the ability to threaten damage at range, but if all you do is constantly throw out crows to attack people doing gens and never commit to a down then you won't get anywhere either.

Ultimately I would say she's not very rewarding for the amount of effort you have to put into her. She has one of the highest barrier of entry (likely 2nd to nurse) and honestly if you are at the point where you want to put nurse level commitment into a killer, you might as well be playing nurse.

hm, I personally found her rather easy to pick up. (far from mastered tho)I havnt even tried nurse because i know i would just get disoriented and it kinda looks ugly to me to constantly snap to different locations. blight also seems crazy hard to use as well. a little bit of prediction with the birds and you can get downs or keep a relatively high tracking status on them.

do 2 scourge hook perks stack together? im trying to grind and get the pinhead hook of pain to match with her pain resonance perk which seems like that would be busted if you have good hook location. gen regression(possible surv location added) AND oblivious on first hook? I am very excited to try that combo out, just have to get it.

  • @Pulsar said:

Put Bird at loop, watch Survivor hold W, repeat.

Snipe someone on a gen, watch them jump in a locker to instantly remove Bird, repeat.

cant you simplify that process for any killer tho?

nurse: warp across map get immediate down

    Pig: lose

    Trapper: trap and down

    nemesis: run from zom boys

    and on and on?

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

Most people don't know how to play her, myself included, so they result to the usual "put bird at Pallet/Window", and then call Artist boring when Survivors inevitably ShiftW

i could just be too noobish rn, but i dont bother keeping birds idle. It seems if you just focus on hitting gens and using bird info to cut them off you can keep them from even trying a loop or as soon as they go to a loop you can time your bird to swarm and they seem to almost alwasy abandon it.

I have noticed that sometimes when your power charges back up and you try to use it, it will not generate the line to shoot the bird. for like up to 5 seconds. is this a bug or some other reason?

  • @Momentosis said:

I mean, you didn't even know what No Mither was according to that other thread.

Also your "job" isn't to make sure the other team has fun.

And your post pretty much reads like "I'm bad, but this stuff that's terrible isn't so bad because the people I play are bad too".

"People I play don't know how to use Dead Hard and I suck so my MMR is low so I never encounter anyone good with it so it's not a problem" is pretty much your first point.

The problem with dead hard comes with this.

You walk across the map, 10-20 seconds. Find a survivor, they W away across the map. You spend another 10 seconds or so catching up. They loop you around a safe loop for another 10 seconds. Best case you get a hit here. They run across the map again, 10 seconds to catch up to another loop. Another 10 seconds and you should get them BUT. Dead Hard. You miss if you attacked, they get to the pallet/window, you have been potenitally pallet stunned/ or exhausted from missing your M1. They make huge distance and you have to break the pallet/vault the window/go around the loop. Spend another 10-15 seconds catching up. Another 10 looping, potentially more if they just start dropping pallets on you.

Eventually you catch them, gens are finished because of the extra time the dead hard gave. Now you have to repeat this entire thing since the rest of the team has dead hard as well.

You say, "well pallets will be used up! There will be dead zones and unsafe areas!" Well, that guy just ate 60+ seconds with around 2 pallets. There's way more than 2 pallets on 99% of the maps. ######### that one shelter woods one with like 3 pallets.

while I have flaws in my game, im not "bad" just have some things im bad at. i win the majority of my games if i use trapper or plague. likes 70% plus. by making sure people have fun its more about mindset. if you get all worked up because you dont like a perk theres a good chance it will impact game play. and im not against all cocnerns with the perks but i do think people are a bit dramatic on how strong it it. yes its strong but is in no way unbeatable. And the people who use it usually arent going to be loop gods that are untouchable. if your spending 60 seconds in a chase then your spending too long in many cases. if a chase goes too long you should be breaking off it. while your chasing that guy isnt doing gens but the others are.

Obviously it can be frustrating and maybe your at the top of the skill matching where your always going against people whoa re also at the top of the skill game and at that point your outside of normal gameplay. DH may be broken when used by sweats with 5k hours, but its absolutely not broken when used by normal people. Least in my experience.

and to reiterate, you absolutely can play around it by baiting them, or being very close to them when they use it. then the DH is not going to get them very far ahead. Ive gotten many downs literally within a second or 2 of DH being used.

Survs have DH and killers have NOED. NOED is far more game changing than DH.

  • @JeanCharpentier said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2890145#Comment_2890145

Higher your SBMM is more you will see full meta perks squad.

Not only the perks but the survivors are stronger at looping/gen rushing etc...

So at high MMR you have high skilled survivors all using META perks. This combo brings these squads to an unbeatable level.

Even when the perks/items are restricted (tournaments), killers cannot do anything if they do not play nurse/spirit... it means a lot.

i guess i am just lucky then that i dont get matched with full sweat teams each match. So sorry for you if thats what your match making is like

  • @TurboTOne said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2890034#Comment_2890034

Pls No. Not more like Deadhard. You should extend the Chase by Skill and Map knowledge being able to go from Loop to Loop. Not by using a Perk that does all the Hard Work for you and making Good Survivors even more untouchable.

Skill should be rewarded just like it should be earned. Not by using a Perk.

nah, then there is justification to take away NOED and i like NOED. survs have DH, and killers have NOED.

take away invincibility on DH and haste on NOED and i think it would be a good spot

  • @YOURFRIEND said:

No, it's pretty oppressive. Especially when it's in every. Single. Game. On every single survivor.

Points for being contrarian though. Well done.

I dont see it in every game or on every survivor. it may exist in many games, but not every single person runs it, and when its been used, its used. and as mentioned above many people dont even do a good job of using it, DH into objects, or in directions that don't give much distance. Its also fairly easy to bait out. if they DH and you are 6 inches off their back they really dont gain much distance. If they Dh from you lunge swinging 3 feet back, yes they gain distance. Its something that can be mitigated by how you play. again,, maybe its different at high mmr, but its not a problem in average play for me. Least when i stopped victimizing myself over it.

As others have said - avoid it.

What perks do you have available?

Assuming you've only got the basics: I'd go with Corrupt (her perk) and some others, but I'd have to know what you're working with.

i currently have corrupt intervention, jolt, (cant remember name but the perk where if you down a surv anyone in your terror radius screams) and had sloppy as 4th. i started playing plague to get the one where downs cause nearby survs to scream as a teachable so i could add it to trapper but found i do really enjoy her as loops are very hard for me to beat decent survivors on, and she allows me to apply pressure in a certain way that helps me get around it.

  • I would love an alien killer like that. especially if they could incorporate its acid blood in some way. perhaps if stunned causes a acid spray that causes a health state damaged. not sure if terrible but sounds cool. could be a good loop tool potentially

  • @brokedownpalace said:
