Okay, so no flashlights in the lobby, no need to bring Lightborn.
10 9 8 7
6 4 FLASHLIGHTS APPEAR.
5 Sorry, you're locked in you can't change to Lightborn!
This is the problem I am talking about. If the survivors are worried about Lightborn or Franklin's, they will do this. So, that's my point, what is the point of even showing the killer what items the survivors are bringing if they can just swap at the very last second and everyone gets locked in?
I mean franklins will mess them up either way so I'd imagine most killers leave it on. Even if nobody in the lobby visibly has items on they'll probably pick up chest items or make flashbangs etc.
And as for lightborn if I'm clearly against a 4 stack I'll usually put it on as a precaution. But i haven't seen many people try this trick. and enpugh people run flashbang that it's just a good idea to keep it on anyway.

I am fine with that as long as we can opt-out facing certain perks and tools that survivors bring
You can't cherrypick what consumables and tactics survivors use just because you dont like them 🤣 imagine if p could do the same for killers. Like 20% of the game content would basically be removed.
-
This guy is still complaining about losing to survivors? On multiple threads? You can't win every game as killer my guy. Seems like every killer loses it if they get less than a 3k on a game.

To everyone, check out this video and you will see how Broken SWF teams are
And I'm pretty sure i can find videos of streaming killers on 100 match win streaks. Good swf teams are hard to beat, but they are a tiny percentage of actual players.

No offesne bro but you play the game for 3 months, you will se eventually what im talking about
Kind of my point. If people have played the game and consistently crushed as killer they get high mmr games.
My mmr is throwing players at me who have insane amounts of play time. Highest i have seen is 150 days. And I sacrificed them, without a huge amount of difficulty and got my usual 3k and release game. If someone as new as me (11 days play time) can club players with thousands of hours then survivors definitely do not have the advantage.
My games are harder certainly but if I hardcore sweat when I'm going for pips I'm still crushing. It's not like I'm seal clubbing newby players anymore.
-
Lolwut? No way this game is survivor sided. Yh you can come up against survs who are chase gods and they can seem untouchable. But my experience playing both killer and survivor is that killer really determines how the game plays.
A competent killer will absolutely rinse a team of all but the top 1% of survivors. I've got 11 days of play time since i started in august. My killer performance consistently 3ks in almost all of my games, and thats mainly because i almost always let last surv go at the end of a match so they could've easily been 4ks. 2ks are rare for me and I've had maybe two 4 man escapes in the last month. And my games aren't against rank noobs, I'm seeing xbox survivors with 30-100 days of play time regularly and a lot of prestige 20+ players and I'm not really stuggling against them.
As survivor I'm not as good but i perform reasonably well with my regular swf. And the game always feels pressured unless we get a completely incompetent killer, winning as survivor is an extremely delicate situation. When you lose a player early to DC or hard tunneling then the game often becomes pretty unwinnable. I can run good chases but one slight slip up and it's all over. Only time it feels unbalanced in the survivors, favour is if all 4 survs are looping gods. One subpar survivor can tank a game.
No way is this game survivor sided, only ever seem to hear this opinion from killer mains who play presumably at super high mmr and end up against sweat squads constantly.
-
Pretty sure No Mither should get a mention here. I feel like it should either just give you 100% bonus bloodpoints for everything. Or remove the grunts of pain entirely, like I know 25% volume is pretty quiet but you shouldn't be passively making noise the entire game while broken. And maybe a bonus to struggle progression would make it less of a death sentence when you get downed

You can get banned if you are holding the game hostage. 3-genning is one thing. 3-genning and then never intending to actually chase the Survivor is another.
knew I'd read it somewhere. Mentions it being a bannable offense in this thread I've quoted.
Obvs hearsay in the post but somebody said killers have been banned for this and it's not commented on my devs. But i can see it working both ways. If a killer just sat on a three gen and refused to leave you can't expect survivors to commit suicide to end the game.

How do you "camp" a 3 gen but not down survivors?
If surv's refuse to do gens because there is a killer nearby then that's them holding the game hostage not the killer.
Actually pretty sure I've seen it confirmed that if a killer camps a 3 gen and basically refuses to leave them at all or get in a proper chase it counts as holding the game hostage.
-
Camping is not a reportable offence. It can be annoying but it's a legitimate tactic. Only time it could be a bannable thing is if killer is holdin the game hostage by camping a 3 gen if they aren't trying to actually down survivors. So unless something like that is happening it isn't against the rules as far as BHVR is concerned.
-
He's a merciless killer, no regard for his squadmates lives and he works for umbrella. All round bad dude who helps an evil organisation and kills rithlessly and efficiently. Personally i reckon he'd be ripe for the Entity's corruption.
Regardless of whether he thematically fits as a killer or not i love his skin on legion, looks really cool and sinister.

Why not? Hillbilly's still pretty strong, super fun, has a skill ceiling, has instadowns, great anti-loop and insane mobility. Overheat does nothing unless you're camping or are unrealistically bad at playing him. He's arguably near A tier if in the right hands with the right addons!
I just dont get on with him personally. Always struggle to hit those chainsaw charges lol.

I'm simply playing both angles.
Look at the Discussions I have posted. Most of them are asking for solo q improvements. A few of them are asking for penalty leniency.
I want them to make the game better for solo q. If they aren't / won't, then make the dc penalties less harsh, preferably after they add bots.
I like Maelstrom's idea... Flat 30 minutes that doesn't stack/increase. (Though it should be 5m, 5m, 30m from then on, only dropping back to 5m after 24h).
I have a lot of threads suggesting improvements for solo q too. It definitely needs that bit of help that swfs certainly don't. But regardless people who DC and rage quit ruin the game for all other players. Both their survivor team mates and the killer who may be trying to get points for challenges/achievements or adept. And I've seen multiple people DC from a game that was still definitely winnable.
Solo q is rough but that comes with the terrain, if ppl get angry enough to ragequit then they should play swf or a less stressful game. DCing is never justified unless a player is deliberately holding the game hostage or someone is cheating etc. And those things don't happen all that often. People will DC for the most silly of reasons, i.e. don't like the map, killer or got downed once.
If you ease DC penalties then people will be more likely to DC and ruin even more games. Look at the recent level of DCs with the DC penalty being removed. They skyrocketed.
-
I gotta know when to switch to lightborn to cpunter the flashlight bully squads. I prestiged hillbilly for a reason. It certainly wasnt to play him lol.
-
Dredge and pinhead are my two least favourites. Nightfall is such an annoying feature and the constant chain hunts with pinhead are an absolute nightmare in soloq games.

Run scratched mirror meyers lol.

I find that hanging on the edge of the end of a wall can be a good eay to avoid her, they have to judge the blink carefully and often overshoot to when you hesr that scream run back up the wall on one side and double back and loop to the other side if she goes for the second blink. 60% of the time it works every time lol

Solo queue is too fog damned frustrating for it to have the same disconnect penalties as killers and stomp with friends
- Killers tunneling at 5 gens. The person being tunneled dc's. The rest of us die.
- Killers standing next to the hook trade-camping... "Just do five 90-second gens and escape..."
- Survivors kiting the killer into gens being worked on, whether intentional or not
- Lethal Pursuer Huntress and I'm the one getting a near-miss hatchet at my feet 3 seconds into the match. She tunnels Feng off the hook, twice, and I try to use For the People, but Feng has ZERO clue I have the perk, and refuses to hold still while the Jill bodyblocks the Huntress. She finally stops just around a corner in front of a pallet, leaving my ass sticking out for a hatchet, but I use For the People anyway THEN, she just stands there, blocking me in place, so I have to go way around to get into the main building. She runs in too, and then cuts me off to take the window first, making me go down. I had enough.
- 30 minutes to kill, so I'm here typing this. If Cyberpunk didn't freeze so much, I'd be playing that instead of this event that only masks the true horror that is solo queue
You left teammates DCing off the list funnily enough. I see so many high level players DC because they aren't happy with their teammates. And it's tanked several very winnable games for me and my swf team. Imo DC penalties should be much harsher, if only they could tell genuine disconnects from ragequits. Even if killer is tunneling or facecamping at 5 gens. It happens. Just do your best then onto the next game.
What they should really do is improve soloq, ping system, let us see each other's perks. VC for God's sake.

Yh I had issues with it yesterday lol my microsoft edge browser disappeared off my xbox for no apparent reason and i couldn't claim my code on any other browser. Had to reset my xbox twice before it reappeared and i could get my code. Love the new cosmetic, used to love playing pubg before it became stupid on cosmetics and microtransactions. 🙄 they really had to do the box and key thing.
-
Mm some like to bm the killer before they leave. And they get punished for it sometimes. Bloodwarden is a thing. And i had a team of toxic survivors wait in exit gate to bm me once, i wandered off to bash doors for bp and to not give them the satisfaction. They came back to try and find me to mock me. 1 down and an instagrab on an unhooker later and i ended up with a 2k because of their arrogance 🤣

i forgot to add overcharge is also a good perk to run instead of ruin, i like ruin for its pressure but overcharge and jolt combo still are good so idk anymore xd.
having a hard skill check and if i down someone that 8% hurts. really depends if i care to go to gens or not tbh.
Does over charge stack with jolt? I.e. if you damage a gen with jolt does that gen get overcharge applied as well?

I play both (or used to) for me they play very similar, you see someone, aim and shoot, if you miss you raise your hand/reload try again (reloading is a bit slower than reraising the hatchet), main differences were range and after a hit with DS the Survivor restarted the chase at mele range unlike Huntress where the Survivor restarted where he was hit, the whole reloading from lockers and reloading the gun while different leads to the exact same outcome, if you miss enough with Huntress you have to reload you lose the chase and probably a gen or two, if you miss that many times with DS is the same, you pretty much lost the chase and a gen or two.
For me those slight differences dont make them different enough to make Deathslinger stand out from Huntress like Blight stands out from Hillbilly.
Agree to disagree then. They have similarities but they certainly stand out enough from each other for me.
-
I've not had trouble adepting my killers. Hardest one so far was twins and it still only took like 4 games. Did plague first time. Granted it is definitely harder than survivor adepts. But all you need is one less than high skill team and generally you can shred them and get that merciless. And mmr is pretty busted so even high mmr killers get the odd weak team thrown at them.
-
@HectorBrando said:
We already have more than enough Killers, it has been like that for several patches, the game is so bloated they have to rehash powers to make "new and exciting" Killers, lets post some examples of this.
- Wesker: Discount Nurse but cant teleport through solid objects, Clown slow and moves 115%
- Sadako: Jigsaw RTBs (stalling objective), Freddy teleports and Wraith invisibility (and all worse than their original counterparts).
- Artist: Traps+Hatchets.
- Pinhead: RTBs (stalling objective) and a Deathslinger chain+Clown slow.
- Nemesis: Discount Pyramid Head with 2 NPCs.
- Trickster: Discount Huntress, more lenient if you miss and 1000% tackier clothes.
- Pyramid Head: Discount Huntress with 115%.
- Deathslinger: Discount Huntress with a hat.
- Oni: Hillbilly but has to gain his power and is easier to land.
Whats next? Leatherface but with stealth? Plague with a bycicle? You can only add so much with the game mechanics the game has.
Yeah deathslinger is nothing like huntress, aside from he has ranged attacks. Considerably weaker mechanically, uses deepwound, doesnt have 5 shots but doesn't have to reload at lockers doesn't instadown on hit but easier to hit with, harder to dodge, no windup.
Easy to make generalisations about killers being the same but they differ enough mechanically so that they are unique.

This may sound funny to some of you, but it's a real problem for me right now.
I can't get any further in the event tome, I'm stuck in the second survivor challenge. Escape 2 times.
This is apparently impossible in the MMR I'm in. Why does BHVR hate solo queue so much? This may not be a challenge for SWF or high mmr solo survivors but I have no idea how to do this challenge.
Usually I don't care, I play mostly for BP, shards and fragments and not for winning. But this stupid challenge is forcing me to do it and I have to say I'm completely frustrated right now.
Wouldn't it be enough for BHVR to reduce this escape challenges to 1 time ( while thinking of lower mmr solo queue) and not to several times? It's not even one challenge that I can skip to do another in its place. I MUST do it to even progress at all in this rift.
Do you have any advice please? I'm really frustrated right now.
Know that feel bro. Solo q is so rough for survivors if you ae trying to survive (you know the main objective for survivors) had a run pf 15 games in a row bo survivals once. my suggestion is either play selfish a couple of games if it starts to go downhill, i.e. bring left behind, hatch offering. Or try getting a swf team together. Bit of communication goes a long way. Especially while trying to do challenges.

The solution is not to just slam the DC penalties back on, and pretend everything's right.
You should honestly take into consideration and think about WHY people DC. Find the cause and start eliminating the biggest ones.
Why do people insta-DC against Nurses and Blights? You know the answer to that, and you haven't done anything about it yet, despite the countless posts on the forums over the last several months. You can start here. Ignoring the problems is not good for the game or the players.
Doesnt matter how good or balanced a game is. There will always be people who ragequit when the game isn't going their way because they have the impulse control of a 2 year old. Nothing to do with the game itself.
DC penalties are really the only way to prevent it. It's an issue with the players not the game.

I think there is a misunderstanding there, you don't need to report them to Xbox Live and profile links are not necessary for our report system, so there is no need to access their profile.
And as for the harassment that's fair enough. Suppose a lot of people get salty messages from people after games. Does dbd have a way for pc players to direct message each other?
On Steam people can post on other players' profile if they have the comment section public.
Reporting to xbox live can also let microsoft take action against them too, if they cheat on one game it's a fair bet they cheat on most.
And ok, didn't know how much of an issue harassment could be on PC.

Where is the abuse though? They can still get reported just as any crossplay player before. Nothing changed.
also, Twitch isn’t the only streaming platform even though it may be the biggest currently.
Well not just twitch obvsly. And see my post above, anonymous mode still prevents some avenues of reporting if you can access the cheaters profile page.
-
@Rizzo said:

First of all the mode is not abusable, players using it can be reported normally, as no SteamID, profile link or nametag is required to fill up the ticket anymore.
Secondly, streamers and content creators are not the only people who get harassed.
Then why are we seeing so many cheaters using it? It doesn't make them invulnerable but it does give them a layer of protection, for example I play on xbox, if an xbox cheater comes up against me i can't access their profile to report them to xbox live.
And as for the harassment that's fair enough. Suppose a lot of people get salty messages from people after games. Does dbd have a way for pc players to direct message each other?

Weirdly when i play legion I haven't had any DCs recently. Legion is strong but there are obvious counter plays. And tbh ragequitting off a 5 hit frenzy chain is childlish. 5 hit chains are either a very skillful play from legion or a huge misplay by the survs. Either way legion deserves the down.
-
Really question why they added a mode that is so easy to abuse. If it's to prevent stresmers from getting abused/streamsniped then make a perquisite that you must have a linked twitch account live on stream with a certain number of followers live on the stream to allow anonymous mode to be turned on.
-
Yh they're clearly just cheating. Either way even if it is a bug they are still abusing a gameplay exploit for an advantage. So still a bannable offence.
Imagine feeling the need to cheat against a trapper. 🤭

That’s not what the combo is used for, pulling people off gens can be done without them.
But it makes it a lot easier and you can do it from much further away. I know it has other uses too but that's my favourite.

Hooks spawns are fine. With midwich being the glaring exception. Indoor maps like lery's and rpd can be a bit annoying because they can look closer than they effectively are if you can't find the right route. Which if you don't know the maps can be particularly hard. But it's not a huge issue.
Midwich on the other hand. The hook spawns are pretty jank. I shouldn't have to down the last survivor 4 times in a row to reach a damn hook. True story, i only got 3 ground floor hooks, broke them all sacrificing the other survs. Then the last surv realised that if they stood in the middle courtyard outside I physically couldn't reach a hook before they struggled out. Luckily they ran a chase a bit too close to the stairs trying to find hatch and i got them hooked.

Seriously, this change needs to be implemented, especially because Midwich hooks can be a nightmare to deal with. You permanently lose one hook and suddenly one side of the map can be completely dead for the rest of the trial.
Yh i had a midwich spawn with only 3 hooks on the ground floor. Had to down the last surv 4 times to finally get them to a ######### hook

From a quick breeze through the thread it seems like something isnt made clear
When Legion uses their power, (Feral Frenzy) and successfully hits a Survivor, they gain Killer Instinct on every other Survivor within their Terror Radius not suffering from Deep Wounds. Killer Instinct reveals the location of Survivors, so when paired with being able to easily get a Survivor injured it makes it very difficult to hide against Legion and isnt worth doing more often than not.
With that being said, pretty much every tip given here is fantastic. Hope I cleared up a few things <3
On top of this for those who don't know, lockers do not hide killer instinct like they do your aura, paired with legion having iron maiden as one of their personal perks. Stay tf away from lockers lol

You're playing killer i guess? Yh newish killers have a rough time after a 100 or so hours. You spend the first however many hours windmill slamming nooby solo q teams onto hooks then your mmr skyrockets and you suddenly go from chasing around headless chickens to getting looped by seal team 6 god tier players who are usually toxic af. Just embrace the losses, it'll drop your mmr a bit an hopefully settle it at a reasonable level.
-
Demo needs good tactical awareness and planning to play. You've gotta put portals in good places, which is hard if survivors pressure you from the start. Shred is a great ability, but hard to use, most experienced players can dodge it easily so you've gotta predict well. It's so satisfying when iu charge it round a corner and hit someone trying to vault or camp a pallet.
Very balanced killer, and unpredictable, especially if they run a stealth build. I love portaling to the opposite side of a survivor and flanking them or shredding out of nowhere onto some poor mook fixing a gen. My favourite killer to play and play against.
Has some fun builds too. Iridescent add ons are insanely good since you can basically aura read the whole map at will and be super duper stealthy. Lifeguard whistle and upside down resin is also a fun combo. Open lots of portals in good places the punish ppl who try to close them. Add bbq and chilli/discordance to find people and it's a nasty combo.

I'm not a spirit main but the "addons are high rarity so they can't run it every game" argument really doesn't hold much water.
Here is my blight addon inventory for example.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/TVH74Y6M5R23/image.png
So you've dunked a huge amount of BP into a character. I'd imagine that less than 1% of players have that sort of playtime. You put in a massive effort in so you get to rinse teams with those addons. Doesn't mean that every player can constantly run those add ons. What prestige is your blight out of interest?
