  • It's way stronger than people give it credit for, honestly I consider it one of the problematic perks but people are to busy running second chance perks to realize how stupidly powerful this perk is and how it makes getting gens done so easy.

  • With the massive amount of bugs in this game I am honestly starting to think they are outright lazy as well. I really hate saying that but what else can I draw from what I see? Some bugs have been in this game for YEARS and they are not minor bugs either some of them have a huge impact on game-play, yet nothing is done about them. And to top it all off, this gets worse every single update, every update breaks more than it fixes and it killed my desire to play the game almost entirely.

My favorite killer is Oni and I haven't played him in a month because of how much it hurts my head when he flings around in a wild random direction after hitting someone with Demon Strike, and the devs know about this bug yet leave it in the game for a flippin year? Actions speak louder than words, I won't be buying anymore new content until I start seeing some real bug fixes and QoL changes.

  • No he wouldn't be to strong, he has no map pressure and is just a M1 killer.

  • Aura reading only, they shouldn't open the black lock.

  • I think the more important thing is: how will this interact with haunted grounds? HG requires totems to work, undying only saves ONE.

  • "It was the most boring meta we've had so far." Really? Cause I'm pretty sure the most stale, boring meta we have had so far is the same one we have had for years: DS, UB, DH, etc, etc, etc. I don't really care that it was nerfed honestly, I never used it myself, I do think it was overkill though. But lets not pretend it was the most boring meta we have ever had, because it wasn't even close.

  • It's going to be a pretty mediocre perk if not outright bad now. The aura reading might as well not even be a thing (doesn't help with the totems that matter.) The fact it only transfers a hex ones is overkill if you ask me, it should of been 2 total.

Enlighten me then, how do you "use it properly" is that the thing where you press e to avoid a hit and end up on the ground because of hit validation? Dead hard worked when it was peer to peer, it broke with servers and broke even more with "hit validation" the exhausted on the ground happens then "hit validation kicks in" and I am no longer exhausted but I am still on the ground. The game knows I shouldn't be exhausted because I got hit mid dead hard so I shouldn't have gone down but the hit validation favours the killers and as such the game says the dead hard didn't happen even though on my screen it did.

You use it to gain extra distance, you don't use to it "dodge" an attack. If you are smart when you use it for distance it becomes the strongest perk in the game by a mile, it's the difference between going down and getting to that pallet which in turn lets you get to a long wall, etc.

  • @thrawn3054 said:

More than half the time the perk doesn't work and you're complaining about it?

More than half the time people aren't using it properly. He is saying using it for distance is broken, because it is.

  • If they think it will discourage tunneling then they have absolutely no idea how people play their game, sorry. If someone is tunneling they already know your health states and don't care. They need to give the killer the same hook states info they are giving the survivors, there are a lot of reasons to do this and it isn't going to encourage tunneling. Seriously this is something killer players have wanted for a long time.

  • I want a hook counter on each survivor as Killer, I'm kind of annoyed only the survivors are going to get it and the killer just gets some trashy "look how many hooks you have total!" Bruh, if someone is planning on tunneling they already know how many times they hooked that person, sometimes people like to stack the same survivor for memes and I don't like killing one of them early because they all look the same and I can't tell how many times he has been hooked. Or when they do the same thing but I get DSed because I DONT KNOW WHO JUST GOT OFF THE HOOK. This wouldn't annoy me if they weren't adding it for survivors but not the killer.

  • Pairing it with Bond? What!? Pain that sh1t with Kindred my dude!

  • I'm more annoyed that only one killer perk is being buffed but 4 survivor perks are being buffed. Like come on dude, what happened to buffing Blood Echo?

  • removing the debuff from his other bottle is fine but it buffing the survivor's speed AND yours is just silly.

  • Never going to happen. The latter is a survivor combo, the devs will never nerf it. Hell a while back they even buffed unbreakable for some stupid reason (it use to be 10-15-20% they buffed it to 25-30-35.)

  • I'm gonna be honest: if you needed this trash perk combo then you aren't any better than the survivors who run DS/unbreakable nonsense. Now if they would kindly UNNERF pop I'll be happy.

  • The only hitboxes that really need to be addressed are Huntress's hatchets, I honestly think they are way to forgiving, there are plenty of times I see the hatchet very clearly miss the survivor but I still hit them anyway, and I know for a fact on their screen it was even further away. I believe they buffed it a while back when they added dedicated servers, I do think that should be undone though. Her hatchets being just a bit larger than Slinger's shot would be fair, but the trucks she throws are just silly.

  • Oni for sure, his power just has that "oh #########" factor that most killers dont. Myers has this to a lesser degree but yeah, Oni is #1

  • I mean, the 1% elite god squads will always stomp you into the ground, but even the good swfs still lose to a top tier killer. I for one love taking down swfs, even more so when they are cocky and run typical meta perks. Is it extremely hard to come out on top? Yes it is, but oh boy it feels good when you win. Also on a side note, you get better at the game when you vs people who are good instead of stomping randoms who all think urban is a good perk.

  • Their not loot boxes guys, their surprise mechanics.

  • I mean if the progress decayed slowly survivors would just open it right away, isn't that a good thing? If they "still have things to do" isn't that the point of the timer slowing down by 50% if someone is hooked/slugged? I feel like having both of these in play makes EGC a bit pointless, even in the aspect of just "ending the match." The Killer can't always go open the door, in fact it is almost never worth it to open the door yourself as killer, not because they can walk out and leave but because you have to position yourself in the last place you want to be.

  • Who would of thought bones were hard to do.

  • If the OP was baiting then bravo, funny and you caught a lot. If this wasn't bait then...big yikes my dude.

  • If they buffed Mindbreaker to be a 10s exhaustion then it would actually be pretty good. 5s is to short for anyone other than a stealth killer. But yes I agree people rely on exhaustion perks way to much, they do let you get away when you were caught out of position after all.

  • I use to main Freddy (pre-rework) and then switched to Spirit after the rework then I guess I switched to Oni/Slinger, I can't really pick one or the other I play both of them all the time.

  • I wouldn't, the perk is fine as is. Sure it's annoying but lets not pretend every killer runs this perk, because most of them don't.

  • You could do that, yeah. Or you could just gitgud.

I really think that DC penalties should exist as, ultimately, we're playing an online game.

As for the suicide on hook, I am just trying to shed some light into the matter and recommended OP to report whenever that happens. For me, those cases need to be individually analyzed for repeated offenders. If someone is constantly frustrated to the point of suicide on hooks, then they should "play something else.' -Mathieu Cote

Unfortunately, DBD has an exit mechanic that is core to the game and that cannot be changed. And punishments should not be blindly applied due to the risk of catching survivors who were facecamped on the first hook.

Well that is why myself and a lot of other people want the struggle mechanic changed. I personally enjoy PH's cage struggle phase, it's more interesting, doesn't annoy my wrists as much AND people can't just let go and die instantly, it takes a bit of time for it to kill them. I don't think a penalty should exist for dying on the hook I just think the struggle mechanic should be changed so it can't be used as a second hand d/c.

  • I disagree with you, I'm also an Oni main and yes it is absolutely his strongest add on to be sure, but it isn't OP it's just very strong. If you dislike the add on then don't use it, I rarely use it myself but I don't think it is busted at all, honestly it should be his iri add on I think that would of been fine but hey family crest is highest rarity.

I agree with you that when one hits the queue, one should be ready to play whatever match comes and I often report who does so. But you need to factor in that some aspects of the game are rather frustrating. Not everyone queues thinking "what an amazing time to face a camping Bubba, or an Iri Huntress, or a Coxcombed Wraith, or a Pinky Clown, or even better to see my teammates auras while they urban evade through the map/self care in a corner/hook bomb without BT". Most people just wanna have an average game.

I understand where you are coming from but the thing you need to understand is that if there is an early out to a match it will always be abused and it will always effect the remaining players negatively; it would be like removing the d/c penalty because some people's connections d/c them and force a penalty on someone who didn't deserve it. Sure it sucks for that guy but he isn't the norm he is the exception. Sure it sucks to be face camped by an iri head huntress or pinky clown but at the end of the day that isn't the norm, the norm is people just don't wanna vs whatever they are vsing, be it he map, the specific killer or maybe they are just annoyed they were the first one to be chased.

If you aren't prepaired to play out a match vs a stridor spirit who is sweating their balls off then don't que because I very much doubt the other three survivors want to vs the same sweaty spirit down a player because one guy baby rage quit.

  • I have seen a normal kobe when the killer had this perk on, I honestly don't think it does anything other than make the sacrifice ever so slightly faster.

  • @lagosta said:

As much as I hate it, you shouldn't punish people for no longer wanting to play a match.

That point is invalid when the person hits the que, they should be ready to play out the match, it's honestly no different than d/cing when things don't go your way. You cuck the killer, and all three teammates over, not to mention every one of them would of rather you never qued in the first place so they could get someone who actually stuck around. Sorry, but once you load into the game you absolutely should be punished if you leave early. Don't que if you don't want to play out the match.

  • Oni for sure, a good Oni is absolutely scary to face, and you feel so powerful when you get his gauge filled.

  • This is fake don't be fooled. Never mind the stuff that makes no sense (giving Freddy a weaker lunge than every other killer in the game) but lets all be real here for a sec, there is no way they are nerfing DS at least not any time soon.

  • I just want survivors to not be able to hook suicide, at least PH cages takes a bit of time due to the skill checks.

  • Yes, lets make an already joke of a perk even more weak.

  • [Insert Name Here] - On a CD (80s) when you would medium vault, quick vault instead (works from any angle.)

Like I said, it's really coincidental that my connection just happens to drop when the killer swings, or the huntress throws a hatchet, or I vault a window. How very, very coincidental that my connection is the one that drops during that fraction of a second, that tiny time frame, every time without fail, and in the postgame it just so happens to be a console player, or someone far away from servers (Russia, China, South Africa, America).

But yes, I'm sure its definitely my connection and not server sided hit validation genuinely not working.

Dude you asked why it happened and I told you why, you just want to believe that it's bs and entirely not your fault. You don't want the truth you want to complain that it's unfair etc etc.

Idk man the i game ping counter remains at 49 and its very coincidental that every single time I vault a window or drop a pallet my connection just so happens to stutter lol.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/216973/does-server-hit-validation-even-do-anything

Unironically no it doesn't feel like it does, ESPECIALLY vs a huntress

Your connection dipping happens within a fraction of a second my man, you can't notice it but it happens all the time, most servers have a bit of fail-safes built in that factor in these dips, but no it's not something you will ever notice in the moment.

  • Idk man, every time I win as killer (and I'm a pretty good one) I just get comments about how boring the match was, or what a boring killer I was playing (who the heck thinks Oni or Myers is a boring killer to vs?)

  • Hit validation takes your connection into account as well, if you are getting hit with BS hits then it's very likely your connection was dipping at that moment. This kind of thing happens much faster than humans can see, so it's not something you will notice outside of the BS hit. Then again lets also not pretend their servers are anything special; point is, it's probably not the killer cucking you, it's either your own internet and or servers.

  • As an Oni main, this video triggered the hell out of me.

  • Yeah the breakable wall in the storehouse is a total joke, with how far around it is it is actually just as fast to vault the stupid window, oh and yes you end up losing chase and the windows never block nor do you get BL to catch up. This entire map is a joke and I'm honestly disappointed they left that window as is.

  • I'm not surprised even a little, sounds working properly seems to be the hardest thing for the devs to do. Of everything that is bugged in this game sounds are bugged the worst and most often. I mean hell, IW has been "bugged" for how many years now? (it isn't meant to stop ALL sounds, only cries of pain, survivors should still breath but that's a bug with the perk.)

  • Because the way hooks are laid throughout the map are balanced around a set amount of carry time and messing with that time can make the game actually unwinnable for Killer. Adding something like this is like adding something that makes the sacrifice process faster, it's an extremely slippery slope and shouldn't be messed with.

  • Should a mediocre perk that only really helps you get one kill at the VERY end of the game be nerfed? This isn't a serious question is it?

  • Notice how this "leak" only has anything said about T3 DS and not T1-2? Yeah this is fake af, nice try though.

Crazy I can play any other MP and not have as many issues that come with playing dbd.

Just curious, you don’t think the Amazon Cloud Based servers they use (that are meant for mobile games) has anything to do with it?

I never said their servers were or were not trash, I just said your connection is factored into the hit but it's not the authority like it was when they first tested validation. You're still gonna see hits every now and again that seem like BS, hit validation just makes it so that happens less often.

  • You do realize that hit validation takes YOUR connection into account as well right? If you just so happen to get a spike or some packet lose then the hit will still look like BS on your end, but as far as the server is concerned it was a fair hit because the killer's ping when it happened was fine. Killer's ping isn't the only factor dude, yours is too and even if you normally have a good connection this is the internet dude, sometimes you get a lag spike IT HAPPENS TO EVERYONE.
