  • I was playing survivor last night and ended up with a Feng that failed skill checks a lot, even when she was on her own gen so I can confirm vet survivors are getting paired with babies. I will say letting the babies escape like that will have the system thinking you can't handle them so you'll get worse survivors.

I read a mod posted somewhere that it takes about 10 games played on that character for the game to give you a rating. You might just be in that twilight zone.

  • I would give the player more information. As soon as you logged in it would tell you the estimated queue times for survivor or killer. I prefer getting into games as fast as possible. I don't care if my opponents are strong or weak at their game. Let me in. If one queue is particularly atrocious, give blood points for picking the side no one is playing.

Emphasize the blood points. Ranks have never really mattered, but if you had a vial that fills up to 32,000 every match display for you, then it overflows if you use blood point offerings and the game tells you how awesome you are, that would be cool.

Lore - I like the tomes, the whole setup is pretty cool. I never really get into rifts because you can't beat them playing once a week.

Outfits for shards could be cheaper. There's lots of cool stuff I wanna wear but I don't want to pay out the butt for it. I have all characters and killers unlocked and I play them all. MAYBE if I was limited to one or two survivors and killers I would buy more cosmetics for them but when you're doing a full party roulette cosmetics don't matter as much to me. (Though I will say ever since Minotaur Oni came out, I see more Oni being played. A lot of people obviously like it.)

Zanshin Tactics and Windows or Opportunity should be baseline, and those perks given a second effect while pallets and windows have more opportunities for survivors and killers to play around them. (unsafe windows and pallets, as the community calls them) You can lose a game just by getting in a chase with survivors that link tiles. Even though a vet knows to drop chase, that will ruin a newbies day. (you want newbies)

Give score events for skillful plays. A survivor taken down immediately after vaulting a window should have a 'Closed window' score event. Taking one down quickly after a pallet drop should have one. Juking a killer should have one. (lose chase but be in the killers terror radius for five more seconds) Just more in general. Pump up those rookie numbers the grind in this game is huge.

More bloodpoints = more willingness to spend them = more prestige = more shiny things. It's a no brainer to me but I'm not the ringleader here.

  • If holding forward doesn't let you, then I don't think the new tantrum can. I will say before the change when a survivor jumped into a locker to wait for you to stop chainsawing if you bumped up against the locker and started a tantrum, they had a high chance of jumping out and getting hit. An extra long tantrum could be useful in that regard.

  • I thought Legion, Ghostface and Hag were survivor sized. I know that killers have their point of view set higher or lower depending on which one you're using. Would it be bad? Nah.

  • I'm all fixed. That was quite the adventure.

  • All done downloading and all of my stuff is where it should be. I'm not gonna lie for a little bit I was a smidge concerned.

  • I'm redownloading the game now, going to assume everything's gonna be where I left it, but we'll see.

  • Your killer has the banhammer charm hanging from its hook, and your SWF squad is ready to click and crouch and you all hear the terror radius. What do you do?

I logged on 20 minutes ago and my DBD wasn't launching. After a while, after trying everything, I uninstalled the game to try and reinstall it since that usually fixes launch problems and now I can't even reinstall it! I have so much time and progress on DBD and own all the DLC's with countless cosmetics. Am I screwed?

Probably not, but I smell a rollback coming.

  • They should probably sticky this thread. I've got a feeling it's gonna see a lot of mileage.

  • A lot of the forum icons are defaulting to the Dead by Daylight sacrificed logo too. Now this is a horror game.

Come on Gaben. If you don't fix this soon I'm going to have to actually be productive on my day off and nobody wants that.

  • I'm having the exact same issue. Lost my game after playing as survivor.

Dead by Daylight doesn't appear in my Steam Library after a reinstall of Steam. It still says I own the game etc, but when I launch Dead by Daylight from the store as an Administrator even, the launch screen just closes out. I guess the game is out of sync with Dead by Daylight's server? Looks like we might have to wait for a fix.

  • Oh Lawd forgive me for what I'm about to do to these survivors.

  • Awesome work dude!

  • I'd switch Dying Light with Rancor, but zoomy wraith is fun. If you want to be annoying with Wraith use the add-on that makes the entire map hear your bell and constantly ring your bell all match on purpose.

  • I think it would be good if you could eavesdrop on the survivor chat. You can't say anything, but if they're up to shenanigans it would give you a heads up.

Or they could be on voice chat and fake you out. Who knows.

  • When Africans become evil killers they morph into plants. If you're ever talking to an African and sticks start sprouting out of him or her, run.

  • Someone's practicing Spirit and playing her a lot so people are running into her more and getting salty. I noticed when I was practicing Deathslinger a lot of nerf calls were done for him. Coincidence? Eh probably.

That would be fine but the games where I get tunneled the other three survivors are doing this.

  • I do think it's funny the one killer that requires a lot of map knowledge to be effective is the one newbies usually get to play with first. I guess that's fine though. He's the only one of the free killers that doesn't have a gimmick when it comes to attacking. You click. Yes. Good click, watch survivor zoom away. Wipe that weapon.

    *trap noise*

  • Good taste. A lot of people use Trapper as kinda the base killer. Not the best not the worst etc. I think the Clown's better for that though. He's middle of the pack and that's okay.

  • I started running Boil Over because I'm toxic.

  • Moris have already been nerfed. You used to be able to kill someone instantly the first time you downed them. Letting them kill a player on death hook just makes them like pyramid head, which while cool doesn't really give you an edge at all.

I think keys need a channel where you unlock the hatch. It used to be a killer could grab you out of the hatch, now they can't do that. Reintroducing that could be pretty cool.

Maybe the Entity could try to help the survivor since the Entity knows if the killer gets a hold of you with a Mori the Entity isn't getting anything to eat. Start shaking boxes, making a lot of noise as a killer approaches. Showing survivors paths to take on the ground. (You trust the Entity, right?)

There's a lot you can do with what we have now.

  • As gaming culture has gotten more diverse, people have gotten a lot more sensitive to things that really surprise me at times. The gamer word. You know what that word is, I don't need to say anything further than that. You're not going to be able to escape that, and I promise you when people are frustrated playing this game they'll say things in real life while playing that you probably wouldn't like either. LAN parties aren't a thing anymore, but frustrated gamers aren't nice gamers.

As a veteran dead by daylight player I wouldn't dream of tunneling a claudette because if she knows how to loop that's how all the gens get done and I don't win the match. You can't focus one survivor for any reason at high ranks. You just can't.

As a player that plays all characters for their teachables/dailies/etc if I'm playing a character I don't have all my perks on and you meme on me for my character's race, I'm going to flick you on the back of the head with my thumb. Unless you're a race shapeshifting chimera irl, there's no way a player can tell what race you are in real life unless you tell them. You are not your character, and it's normal to die in a match in this game (you can still pip btw) Let it roll off your coat. Don't sprinkle more salt on your salt. That's just gross.

Darker characters are harder to see and higher priority if I catch them out of position, but that's just tactics. I can see pink bald Dwight at any point, his flashlight ensures that I will know his exact location at all times. Gen Jockey Camo Claudette gets the hammer first.

  • Back in my day Billy was the zoomy :D emoticon. When you hit him with a pallet he's go 'ooooooh!' like 'Oh yeah! Awesome! Zoom zoom!'

Now his chainsaw overheats and he sounds so upset. I'd give him a hug if he promised not to bear hug me back and toss me on a hook.

  • At the start of the match Billy can instantly zoom around. Oni needs to fuel his chainsaw first in a much more metal way. Then Billy overheats and starts crying while Oni stomps on everyone and laughs. It's that simple.

  • I see three gens in the first picture and a tiny red dot on the left hand side and after staring a bit and thinking about it...I've got no idea.

What they should do is instead of just pushing things blindly like these auras though they should have a separate build of the game that people can play for a bit to find bugs and what not, maybe try out new killers etc, then use that build (if it works properly) to replace the main build.

  • You really have to get into this game by watching youtubers. There's no other way. When you load up the game for the first time, you don't know what's going on. What's a loop? What's a pallet? Oh god he has a chainsaw. Why is white mask man staring at me? That hatchet didn't even hit me etc.

Once you get into the game it's fine, but yeah. It's not a learning curve. It's a learning cliff.

  • You know one thing that's always bothered me is that some survivors do have holsters, but they don't put their flashlight or key in it when they're not using it. Like, I know it's the way it is so the killer can see you have the items, but normal people don't run with flashlights or keys in their hand. Just sayin'.

  • 46.7% of people never rank up, and Dead by Daylight has had free weekends. So I'd say double any achievement you want an accurate score for. So 20% of players have hit Prestige 2. Some players never prestige at all though. Think it's wasteful and what not.

Man, looking at the achievement list I'm definitely the odd one out. .2% of players have Adept Executioner and .4% Adept Deathslinger, and there's a lot of angy posts about them (or there was). Makes ya think.

  • sigh I GUESS, but it's just not the same. You can't have TWO minotaurs. There's only one labyrinth. It gets weird.

  • This is some pretty sound advice. Don't try to go for the unblocked gens either. It's a trick to get you into a chase with the killer. Stay off the gens for as long as you can!

  • What kind of bugs me is that now they can't make an actual Minotaur killer because there's already one in the game. gg

  • In my experience games where you're on a team are supposed to make you weak in one area so you rely on a teammate to fill in that weakness with their strength. This game it's random teammates though and you can't swap perks during a match so I kinda get why survivors can be so tanky but it's still eh.

A lot of games go for rock paper scissors balance. Like if you specialize in one build, your opponent build can completely nullify you. Does that work in Dead by Daylight? Not really. The thing about games like this is that there aren't a lot of them in the genre that are actually good so this game is treading new ground. We really don't know what the magic solution is so it's hard for me to yell at the Devs and be like 'Hey. Do this or you'll regret it.' because I don't know the answer either. Simple as.

  • Back in the days of Ultima Online, EverQuest and AOL chatrooms... we got on fine without moderators. I hate the current jannie culture the world is forcing us to partake in. Internet bullying isn't real just close the chatbox.

It's not puke anymore it's green tiddy milk according to where the camera's facing.

  • I find my rank shoots up if I play any reasonable amount of time and like you, I'm not too keen on it. I'm hoping the new matchmaking derps out so I can blend in with the potatoes.

    @Heartbound

I know it's something so minor, but I really hope they weren't meant to change and that their animations will revert back to the old ones.

Same. It seems like it would be a big deal and something they'd celebrate if it was intentional. Auras weren't intended, there's no doubt the walking cycle changes weren't intended either and it's a pretty big deal with Myers. With a tombstone/tombstone piece his hand will be open. With a new model...that may not still be true. That can be the difference between expecting a down or being insta killed. That's a massive deal.

(Plus I kinda liked Deathslinger's stoic walk. He has a leg injury why is he acting like he's going to chase you down? He has a gun.)

  • Trapper has changed too. He walks like you just sabo'd a trap and he knows you did it.

  • Just gonna say it cause I feel like it, but when you download the game and you see the original survivors, then you tab over to the killers...how can you not want to play one? I mean, really now.

Tru3 used to main killer from when he first started playing DBD. He has therefore grown a killer based audience, it would seem. So yes, if you watch his stream or read his YouTube comments there will always be fans of his... leaving 'constructive' comments about how easy survivor is and that Tru3 makes no mistakes and survivors OP.

That's kinda why I gave up watching his streams. Him and his community give a little too much 'constructive criticism' towards survivor players for simply playing the game. I mean, can you even imagine escaping as survivor without being a toxic SWF, sniping, genrushing or being in the 0.1% without stretched resolution and your brightness maxed out?

It's always the balance of the game that is at fault. Always. Survivors cannot out skill him. He can't make mistakes.

You might think I have always disliked watching tru3 but the truth is that I used to be a sub for over a year! Him and his community are a bit much for me now, though. But to each their own.

Remember when he used to say Dead Hard for everything? I still can't shake the habit of saying a survivor dead harded no matter what the survivor is doing. "He dead harded over to that generator." whiff Dead hard. *whiff again* still dead hard even though it was only two seconds later.

...then the survivor actually dead hards.

  • Nah it's a good question. I know some Pyramids like to hold on to their torment and only put people in cages if they see another survivor they can start another chase with. I guess if it was an instant those guys would accidentally hit the button sometimes.

BUT that's just a guess. Devs love filling those bars.

  • That slasher needs to stop trying to hit me and let me finish my generator.

That survivor needs to hold still and let me down him. Other survivors are on generators and this displeases me.

  • I really think you should get notified if it's a SWF and get a bloodpoint bonus for playing against them. That way you know when you need to sweat back. There's nothing like being barely awake and chasing after someone running tiles and seeing 3 gens pop simultaneously before you start wishing you put end game perks on your slasher.

  • I really enjoy Tru's work and I play both sides. If you looked at my rift challenges I'd come off as a killer main but I've been running Dwight for a really long time.

  • It is kinda boring. There's no incentive to face them either. I do sometimes because killer queues can be long but meh.
