It is baffling to me how well killers are able to find me when I sometimes have trouble finding survivors myself. It's especially impressive on high pressure games when they use odd perks and killers. But it also now baffles me further when killers are super toxic. 4x slugging, camping, tunneling, etc. No challenge in doing that! I slugged 3 people one game and got so bored chasing the 4th I just let them all go. Must be a power thing...

You either die complaining about the hatch or live long enough to start giving people the hatch. Experience is a simple teacher, but an excellent one.

  • Well look who's shittin' in the tall grass. Ash has outdone us all.

  • Deathgarden had too much visual noise for me to get into. Let's look at Dead by Daylight. It's a relaxing game with horror moments.

Killer: Do do dooo~ Walkin' around. Oh hey there's a survivor. Do do dooo~ walkin' around the rock, aw yiss, got a hit. Stop for a minute. Doot doo doo~ time to walk around some more.

Survivor: Sittin' on the gen. Do do doo~ Nice and relaxing. Where's the killer? Swivel the camera a little. Killers not here (OHGODMICHAELGRAB) I can continue my gen. Do do doo~ Yee, gen done. Time to find another!

Deathgarden: PICK UP THE POWER UPS OH GOD TURRETS OH GOD WE'RE TAKING HEAVY FIRE WHERE'S MY HEALER AAAAAAAAAAAAA.

  • I too would like those crows to simmer down. Calm people deserve the murder, not the murderer.

Objectively what you consider the best perks are not the best perks except for maybe the Bill ones Best build for survivors objectively is DS Unbrekable SprintBurst and either adrenaline or Borrowed Time as for killer there is way more variability But Ruin is Useless without Surveillance on most characters, Save the best for last is great on most killers but is the best on Demo and him without him makes him so much weaker. Make your choice makes freddy incredibly strong and buffs wraith by a lot.

When Ruin breaks unless you're going to kick every gen you see (don't) Surv becomes a useless perk. You're two perks down now instead of one. I was using Ruin before Pig even came out so I never really got into the habit of pairing it with other perks, but back in yonder day high rank survivors just consistently hit greats and kinda made it a moot point anyway. Demo is a purchased character and Save the Best usually a waste because if the obsession is playing with friends and they realize you have it, guess who is going to start taking protection hits?

Freddy's also a purchased character. Freddy used to be an absolute joke in this game too. F was for Freddy tier. They made him a little bit better with his blood puddles and he can warp around, but the only thing about him that makes Freddy good is his deceptive range. He's a smol boi and his animation does not fit his hit cone. His arm doesn't even stretch so a lot of people think they can run him another loop but they can't.

Shape/Ghostface/Pig/Demo after using a portal all have one thing in common though. They're sneaky bois that yoink you off gens if you're not paying attention. That's what you're paying for with them. The ability to yoink people. This game is pay to yoink. Freddy even hides his terror radius so if you're not paying attention he can yoink you too. Pyramid Head has Trail of Torment, which increases his yoinkiness by 100%. If you want to make a case on anything, all of these licensed characters are yoink masters.

(I said I wasn't going to get into that, but it's true!)

  • I'll throw my hat into the ring. Decisive is a bad perk that plans for failure. As long as someone runs an obsession making perk the killer will fear DS even if you don't have it. That's usually enough.

Best perks (IMO) are Dead Hard (David) Bond or Self Care (Dwight/Claud) Unbreakable/Borrowed (Bill) Iron Will (Jake) Mighty Pebble (Adam). I have never needed any licensed perk. Do I use it sometimes? Yeah, I do. Once you get it you realize a good chunk of matches you don't get to use it because you can just loop the killer off the hook with Dead Hard.

Killer side I kinda get BBQ, but at the same time Discordance is better and doesn't rely on a hook state. Ruin (Hag) Pop (Clown) Nurses (Nurse) Corrupt Intervention (Plague) Brutal Strength (Trapper) Enduring (Hillbilly) (Also all Spirit Perks) are the better setups in the game. To be honest most licensed perks just aren't good. That's probably by design. LOOK OUT FOR SURGE WHAT A GAME CHANGER.

If you're a completionist and want to 100% this game, yes getting the Adepts require you to spend money, but you can throw the Halloween chapter in the trash and your game really wouldn't change as either survivor or killer. You'd also have the added bonus of not getting pulled off the gen by a sneaky boi without licensed chapters, but I won't get into that here.

  • I like you, you get the hatch.

  • If you know they're looking at you turn around and fake place a trap to moon them repeatedly.

I wouldn't try to set up traps in an Object of Obsession game. Like others said, just use traps to shut down loops early, unless you have 2 traps and wanna set one down. They still after to take time and disarm it after all.

  • I use (mostly) everything I buy on a killer before I prestige them. That means right before I'm about to prestige them and I'm running out of add ons I'm going to be running Ebony Mori's with Ultra rare add ons since I usually just play with brown add ons/offerings.

If I'm on a P3 killer, it's because someone in the lobby telepathically offended me and they're about to get vibe checked.

  • "Back to the other guy before he starts flying away somehow"

I felt that in my soul.

  • Lately I've been in love with Nemesis (Oni) Rancor (Spirit) Deathbound (Pyramid Head) and Furtive Chase (Ghostface)

Even if they get those gates open someone's not going to leave that match alive.

  • Megs. There is always a Meg. Even when there isn't a Meg, for Meg is eternal and omnipresent.

Most common is Pig, second Huntress. (Myers comes in hot 3rd)

    Anyone wanna trade?

  • If I made a Pirate killer he'd have no M1 attack unless he's carrying a survivor or something. Otherwise it's M2 only. Hold M2 to fire a cannon that does area damage. Slow reload. Center of blast is an instant down, otherwise 1 health state.

    Arr.

  • I like how all the survivors are dead in the totem one. My head-canon is that they all kept trying for the totem so the trapper killed them all one by one and at the end all of his traps were there and he was just admiring his handywork.

  • Dwight and Trapper. They're the hero and anti-hero of Dead by Daylight in my eyes.

  • Dude what do you think this is? A horror game? Coraline scares adults. Let's keep the scary out of DbD.

  • I'd like it if Tenacity would let you vault in the dying state, but you made a noise notification when doing so. Like, crawling through a window and taking a tumble afterwards.

  • I like Fixated and Urban Evasion depending on my mood. The only thing is if I avoid the killer all game the other 3 survivors keep getting hooked so I feel guilty if I don't toss my hat into the ring to take some of the pressure off of them occasionally. (Plus if they die it's a hatch game)

  • Unpopular opinion maybe but I've always thought it's survivors games to win or lose, you're just there to capitalize on mistakes. No matter what skin or gimmick the slasher has the game is ultimately up to survivors.

  • Survivor has to be Dwight. He did his best being a pizza guy, tried to be a team leader. He's your everyday guy that wants to try. I respect the dweet and the world needs more of them to come out of the locker.

Killer would be Trapper. Head of the Estate, took after his father. Trusted his team (who later ratted Evan out to his dad. Rude.) and tried to build a legacy. Resisted the Entity to the point he has hooks in his body. (maybe he was a survivor at some point and said eff it?)

Not saying I would, but if I became a killer I know for darn sure I'd set up traps everywhere. Not jigsaw tier, but the Trapper has the right mindset on how to deal with people. He's a man with a plan.

Completely fair and reasonable. Honestly, I was having a lot of fun at first - who cares if you lose, it's pretty damn exciting. But now around my 20th game with basically no end of impossible games vs. 10x better players (most Rank 1-5, lowest I saw tonight was 8), it stops being fun because you start getting frustrated which makes you play even worse... and your already so far behind everyone skill-wise, if you aren't 100% sweaty and focused, you are a complete joke. I'll watch some vids, try again in a few weeks, hopefully after they fix the bugs in their system.

There's a lot of luck in this game, you can be really skilled and have the map stacked/pallet generation/etc stacked against you. As survivor you can have a nooblet throw down all the pallets instantly and there won't be any pallets when you get into a chase, or the game will decide survivors need the strongest protections when you're rolling in as killer. To my understanding they're working on a fix already.

I casually float between low red and high purple so you're in my play range, which means I can 1,000% guarantee you that even though you think survivors and killers are good at that level, they're not. We're all complete scrubs. Honestly I'd just focus on getting as many bloodpoints as you can. Self Care grants you skill checks that gives you points btw. There's all sorts of little boosters in different perks too.

    Take your time with it.

"god forbid i bring a key into a match"

bruh reminding me every time matchmaking puts me against a green rank killer, god forbid i last more than 20 seconds in chase unlike the randoms, or I can loop or 360, killer has a mental breakdown, and decides I must get face camped and tunneled to death. Nice man

Wouldn't be as annoying if randoms actually did gens instead of watching me die not even attempting to save me

I feel that pain. I ran a Wraith for 5 gens yesterday and was the only one sacrificed. I went in for Relic Veneration, I didn't even have time to find a chest. At least everyone else got out relatively unscathed. There really should be a rule. 15 second chase? Go after someone else that's out of position. D: I'm good, but I have my limits.

My plan was the rank up 1 for 1 as Killer and Survivor - unfortunately, it's even worse on Survivor. I get thrown into games vs. Rank 1-4 Killers with 3 other Rank 1-5 survivors. Killer goes on to dominate 75% of the time.

At least as Killer, the 4 survivors mostly seem to have a good time regardless. Dominating a potato is still fun in its own way - speaking from experience in other games. As a Survivor, I make the other 3 players on my team have a miserable time... and not only don't have fun but feel bad after.

I might just stick to watching this game rather than playing it, at least until they fix whatever is going on.

Honestly if they were smart they'd do what Overwatch does. 10 placement matches and then it would assign you to a 'league' (bronze, silver, gold, platinum, etc) Right now with everything being invisible nobody knows how or why they're placing and that's not gonna help them in the long run. They have data on their side - cool - but what does that mean to a player, new or vet? Not a whole lot.

This is a grind game, and everything resets on the 13th of each month. (rank) So unless you play a ton there's no real way to keep survivor and killer at a high rank. You'll play one role a lot and drop rank on the other.

I highly recommend approaching this game like you have shiny object syndrome. Does it feel fun to do in the moment? Just go ahead and do it. Planning can lead to frustration when the other players don't cooperate. I'm just a tad experienced and I do my rifts killer side first because god forbid I bring a key into the match, that killer will be giving me the kissy face all match.

Obviously don't stress yourself out over the game. What I do is I have youtube open and Dead by Daylight as an icon on my hotbar and sit my mouse cursor on it and relax until I see the lobby fill in the minimized window. When you just focus hard on this game it can be a bit salt inducing.

Ever since the clowns mid chapter patches when they've been looking over Killers they've included BP add-ons which hinder the power in return for blood points.

Billy was the original Bubba too.

Trapper- has the previously mentioned padded Jaws

Wraith- has beast I think it is which doesn't remove his terror radius when he is cloaked.

Nurse- has like 4 for some reason

Freddy- has one that reduces the slowdown survivors receive when stepping on your traps.

I can't remember if there's any more off the top of my head

They should give Spirit one where she doesn't go invisible when she's phasing. Super speed spirit would be a super jumpscare if you're not ready for it.

New player playing killer. Thought after 5 games, I was getting a run of good ones vs. lower rank folks... then right back to Rank 2-3 Survivors. As a level 19 who just started playing on Monday. Can't hit anyone, can't hook anyone. Game isn't fun.

About ready to throw in the towel.

Hang in there, it does get better. A lot of loops have very specific counters that you only learn by watching other killers on youtube or through experience. I'd recommend playing survivor for a bit if you get tired of killer. Being a good survivor makes you a better killer and vice versa.

Actually I didn't come in the game with speed limiter it came long after.

Padded Jaws with something that was made around the mid chapter for clown or spirit I can't remember which one whichever one had the add-on pass for hag and trapper.

Oh did it? Well I'll be. I could have sworn those things have been clogging my bloodweb forever but I'm not going to pretend I know everything lol.

  • It came into the game with the speed limiter for hillbilly. It's a relic of the past. However if you want to be effective with it run it with the Ultra rare iridescent coil. If they step in the trap, they don't get injured...but if they just disarm it they lose a health state. Make your choice, survivors. Make your choice.

  • Survivors are freaking terrifying.

  • I've probably thought too much about their moris but I think the Trapper should pick up the survivor and punch them in the face until they die. I think the Wraith should ring his bell and drag the survivor into the spirit world while they scream (ie turn them invisible like he does) and Hillbilly should grab the survivor by the foot and smash them into the ground repeatedly like a ragdoll. The current ones aren't bad but they do feel dated compared to Pyramid Head summoning a cocoon and turning survivors into a kebab.

What platforms are they on? I've been looking for some good storytelling.

The newest one is on the 3DS just called Corpse Party, but you can find a lot of the titles on Steam.

If I had to recommend games from the series I'd go Corpse Party Blood Covered/Repeated Fear (same game) first. It's top down detective story game. Book of Shadows (more visual novel but still fun.) Then Corpse Party Blood Drive. A lot of them can be played on Nintendo which isn't the first thing that springs to mind with these kind of games but they're a real classic. Just remember to save your game. A lot. Also don't reset if you get a bad end, those are a completion bonus for content and eventually you'll want to seek them all out.

It's a character driven series. By the end of those three games you'll have an appreciation for all of them. (Even/especially for Sachiko.)

AFTER that, you can play Corpse Party: Sweet Sachiko's Hysteric Birthday Bash. (Gallows humor EVERYWHERE but it only fits if you know the characters already)

If I don't get the trap off at the first box I accept my death.

god...I wish more survivors were like you... 4ks every game as pig... XD

but seriously...you're giving up way too fast

Maybe. Last game was today on Haddonfield. I checked two boxes and I could see the auras of my teammates looping the pig around the other two (thanks for fixing auras btw) So I knew I couldn't get close. I tried anyway because blinky red timer and pig spotted and downed me. If I got off the hook there was no time to finish 1 box search so I let go. Hopefully my team understood. I have to go now, my people need me.

(I should point out I play in high ranked games where gens fly. I have zero seconds of pre-activation timer to go off on. As soon as I get up/get unhooked it's timer time.)

  • When Freddy used to be unable to hit awake survivors it was used often to save the sleeping survivor. It might have been used before that but I don't remember.

  • As a veteran player with ~1k hours...

Self Care. I will die on this hill FIGHT ME.

As Killer, my favorite is Discordance. All survivors have been clumped together when spawning lately so it tells me where to go to apply M1.

  • 4 Toolboxes put me on edge. One of your emblems is Gatekeeper so you're already guaranteed Bronze in a quarter of your score.

If I'm playing to rank up, they get skipped.

  • Hmm. Now I'm in a shipping mood. Zarina came out too late for Dwight. He'd have already fallen in love during a trial while getting healed.

Dwight x Nea, David x Meg, Claudette x Adam, Jake x Feng. Ace x Kate, Bill x Gun, Jeff x Jane Yui and Zarina haven't had boyfriends come out yet. (Unless you want to give Yui to Oni and Deathslinger Zarina, but that feels kinda mean lolol)

  • I always shipped Dwight x Nea for some reason. (I'm against Dwight x David. You know who you are.)

Meg x David works for me though.

  • Hearing the huntress lullaby even though you're not facing off against her.

Besides if the survivors are moaning maybe they just really like each other.

  • I'll just be honest as long as I don't have to sit in queue for over a minute toss me in with whoever and whatever. I just wanna play the game.

  • If I don't get the trap off at the first box I accept my death. You don't have time to stealth to all the boxes (especially if they have a tampered timer) and that usually gets me into another chase. Can I keep the pig busy enough for gens to pop? Yes. Can I survive after a trap is placed on me? Very rarely.

Alternatively the team will loop the killer around the boxes so I can't get to it, but if I run in I die anyway so whatever. I'm really not a fan of RNG. If another player kills me, fine. If I get head popped (which I do) then I'm just going to work on a gen until I die. Get me out of that game.

Forgive me but what is Corpse Party? Sounds like a parody movie.

It's a series of Japanese horror games with the occasional movie. It really plays like a puzzle game with very limited action sequences with lots (and I mean lots) of death. If you play it like a detective/investigation game its better but it's basically all horror.

It really comes down to if you like the characters or not. If you hate the character's its probably gonna be a slog but if you care about the characters and want them to survive, it's pretty fun. Book of Shadows is basically just a straight visual novel.

  • As a big fan of that series I could see it now. This would be your killer.

Yoshikazu Yanagihori (柳堀 ヨシカズ Yanagihori Yoshikazu) (1941 - 1974) was a teacher of Heavenly Host Elementary School, and a recurring antagonist in the Corpse Party series. He is the son of principal Takamine Yanagihori.

Sachiko could appear at various points to help the big guy track down survivors.

Or you could have Yuuya, but I think Yoshikazu/Sachiko dynamic works much, much better.

Survivor would have to be Ayumi. She plays a massive role in all the games. Or if you get two survivors you could get her love crush Yoshiki in the action. (It's a big Steve/Nancy dynamic)

Gotta agree. Though DbD really does have it's ups and downs, I'd trust their word over companies like EA or Activison/Blizzard these days. Sure, cosmetics are flying out faster than patches, but that's fine for now, as long as they at least ATTEMPT to fix issues. Though I wish they would start doing these fixes more often than every mid-patch and chapter release. At least 1 bug fix patch per week should be standard imo.

I agree. "Spaghetti code" excuse only gets you so far. I've seen games like EverQuest and other MMOs take a basic foundation and make some really cool stuff. We don't have AI pathing in this game so you don't have to worry about it. (Or AI in general at the moment.) It's just a map, 5 players and interactables. If you edit something and 500 other things break, then break them and remake it into something better. Break it like a pallet. Just, crack crack.

  • I dunno this team has endeared itself to me. I forgive it for busting auras and other shenanigans over the years.

They're miles above Nexon, EA, and Ubisoft and new Blizzard.

Not that it's hard to be above them, but ever since they bought the game back from their publisher they've got Indie-tude with a mix of serious in house gaming crew. When they lose the Indie-tude that's when it's really gonna get poopy.

  • Really the biggest change I'd have for Dead Dawg Saloon is that if your character screams on that map, instead of the generic 'AAAAAA' it should be 'YEEEEEE-HAWWWW'

    *laughs in Doctor*

  • Pig and Huntress bother me the most. Not in an oh I'm scared kind of way, more like 'oh great it's this guy again'.

  • I'll trade you. I keep getting Pig (worst killer btw I hate PvE RNG traps)
