  • Code still works as of this moment. Thanks OP. Did me a solid.

  • Adding on to Slashstreet, you can use an offering too. I highly recommend a decent Med-kit. It can make the difference.

  • I work a ton so I only play the game like, once a week, but I like it so I post on the forums to keep myself in the loop and I just like chatting.

On one of my days off I usually load up Dead by Daylight and have a several hour play session.

  • *vaults menacingly in your direction*

  • A survivor ran off with Victor on its back and Charlotte has gone on a mission to find him. Who knows when she'll return to the fog.

  • Oh no....NOT THE CORN AAAAAA

I think it's because the original maps/Froody have like, 4 or 5 variations while Glenvale, Hawkins and Lerys etc only have 1 map version so it's lower on the draw deck.

  • They're achievements in your steam/whatever platform you're using profile.

    Adept.png

Just load up a match and achieve a merciless victory or escape as that character using only the 3 base perks they come with and you win an achievement!

    Yay achievements.

  • Congratulations, with how many characters there are now, that's no small feat! Good job!

When players first queue up, the game tries to match them with other players of similar rank. The longer players are in the queue, the wider the range becomes, and if the queue is long enough for one side you start seeing newbie players versing red ranks. Survivors playing with friends can also mess up the matchmaking.

This is the correct answer, but I'm gonna post anyway.

When a new player installs the game, the matchmaking system rushes to find the angriest, most deadly rank 1 killer available and goes down the list until it finds one. If you're a killer, the system automatically pairs you against four of the most tryhard invincible survivors to walk the earth.

Welcome to Dead by Daylight, thanks and have fun!

  • You do need a bag when you play Trapper, at bare minimum so that it lets you carry more than one in hand. It'd free up an add on slot too and that would help. It wouldn't make him OP, since it's the same Trapper we all face nowadays anyway and nobody complains.

  • Thanks champ. Also Susie thanks you since I was using the Homicidal Fusion body skin for Legion. They are no longer tormented.

  • If it makes you feel better the killer probably heard the generator being worked on as he was approaching you.

...that said it still happens to me and I've been doing survivor a long time. It's just one of those things.

  • When you've played survivor enough, you know you've had situations where the unhooked guy takes off across the map at the speed of light. What do you do in that situation? Killer sees him, where did you hide?

Next time you play killer, look in that spot and smack the hidden rescuer. Unless the unhooked 4%'d, he's there somewhere.

  • If I was a new player and a Meg styled on me that hard I'd wonder why they put such power in the tutorial.

That's some insanely high level stuff.

  • The Trapper. He's the only one that resisted the entity to the point of being tortured, still resists after being infected by the Blight experiments, and he even has a weapon description telling survivors to pay attention. (To be careful.)

He hates weakness, and fosters hope in the strong. I think he's happy when survivors escape the trial, but happily sacrifices survivors that are clumsy and foolish. Those that betray their team (Rift 1 was Trapper/Claudette. Claudette cares for her team. Trapper punishes those that don't. You had better free your allies from the trap, or perhaps...Krampus will punish you.)

If Evan finds a way to trap the Entity, just as the Entity trapped him, he will gladly take down the biggest prey of all. At least, that's how I see him.

  • It used to be green keys would have a high chance of changing the killer's offering to a mori, but now the key has been nerfed so you have to use it with add ons that replace bond or let you see the killer for a little bit, which I find useless because the killer's going to be following you all game anyway.

  • You're approaching this all wrong. Ace would only brawl if there was a bet in place. Money on the line.

Ace would bet all the cash in his wallet that he would last five minutes in a ring against Steve.

  • I'm pretty expressive when the games I'm playing allow it. If I get a grab/pull someone out of a trap/severely outplay them I'll wait to the left or right of their hook for about two seconds before shaking my head "no".

One time I dropped a Trapper trap in an open exit gate and one of the stragglers was running out and landed in it somehow. I grabbed him and nodded yes the whole way to the hook and kept doing it. It was that day I realized that nodding triggered survivors.

  • Dwight is my P3 survivor, and Nea hit Prestige 1 once because I exhausted her inventory due to playing her a lot. (I have a rule where I only level a character up to 50, spend everything on them then prestige)

Dwight has everything. He cannot be stopped. The force of a thousand lockers repels your weapon, and his tie absorbs all instances of fear.

    There is only Dwight.

  • Not gonna lie I like NOED, but then the generators never get done and you're playing with 3 perks...feels good bapping an overly confident survivor though.

  • Congratulations!

  • Ever since Hag came out, Ruin has been supreme. It will never be dethroned.

    Ever.

  • I use Blood Warden for those ultra altruistic sweat squads that open the gates and like to hover around downed people for those sweet cheesy 4ks. Dunno how practical that version of Blood Warden would be though. As soon as the last generator is left if 3+ people are still alive someone's instantly latching onto that exit gate.

  • There's another reason everyone won't admit to, but if you look at Blight's cosmetics and wear something tight fitting on the body and face him away from the screen, his butt wiggles.

  • What you should do is run Ruin/Undying/BBQ and Hex: Retribution, iri hatchets and purple belt and just to show them what a tryhard is.

They will never call an aura build tryhard again.

  • The game is designed for one killer and four solo queue survivors. That's why you have perks that give you select amounts of information.

Ever since Survive with friends was added that balance has been thrown off and can never be recovered unless they make the killer a lot stronger and give solo players SWF levels of information, which would obviously change the core game.

...before SWF was added though people would just lobby hop until they found their friends, so removal would just revert to that. It's not an answer with an easy solution in regards to true balance.

  • That's why my main build is very heal-heavy, because I know if I don't have quick heals...I just won't. Generator completion is much higher on the bucket list and it doesn't matter how many times you heal if you can't escape.

It kind of stems from experience and the prevalence of Dead Hard. You'll eventually run into a situation where you're not running Self Care on a character, and your medkit will run out or you won't be able to find a teammate, and all you can do is just stand there injured. Might as well work on a generator, right?

Over time you'll get more comfortable with it. It happens to everyone.

Fellas, is it toxic to be a nice Killer?

When you're a killer everything is toxic. One time I walked up to a generator and my terror radius noise made a survivor miss the skill check for his generator. I was pretty toxic.

  • I'm pretty sure some of my recommendations is why Freddy is in the place he is right now. The only thing is lorewise unless Freddy has been pulled out of the dream world he can't interact with awake people so people need to be asleep for him to hit them, but you're asleep so often in the match that it becomes a nonissue. You just play asleep.

I'd make being awake/falling asleep more dangerous. If you're awake and Freddy wants to hit you he can press M2 or something to rapidly increase your sleep timer so you fall asleep super quick but he has to actively do it, and make falling asleep slower at the start of the match so you have a reason to go wake up.

Freddy should have absolute power in the dream world without a doubt and his powers are fine. Survivors just fall asleep super easy even without interaction with the killer.

  • You don't have to do 4 red if you do adepts at lower ranks. You can have one be gold if your rank is low enough, so long as you double pip. (Yes that means a survivor can escape at low ranks.)

Really the trick is just to keep doing matches over and over and try not to force it in one match. You'll get it.

  • Don't hide. Run.

Legion has a very high chance of running the perk Discordance. Be wary of teaming up with other survivors on a generator unless you're ready for an attack.

  • I usually herd survivors into my traps and put them in common loop spots as I pass by the area. It'll take time to re-learn the best spots for everyone though.

  • It can stress survivors out if they're constantly slugged because they end up just sitting around for a few minutes, though I used to do what you're doing now and I never got hate for it.

It gets to the point where it's hard to keep complete control over the survivors if they're good on generators and you may not get a chance to really play with them like that, so the Entity will need to be fed at some point.

It's up to you to decide when that point is though.

  • I like Hex: Ruin for early game so if it takes me a second to find a survivor/group of survivors I can undo the damage on that generator at the start. That helps a lot. It always feels like overkill late game though. As long as ruin survives long enough for me to get that first chase I'm usually fine.

The thing is Undying/Ruin is an opportunity cost. You're just using your base killer with generator regression where there's a lot of cheeky perks that can really turn the tide and they're hard to expect because of the sheer variety. I like when survivors jump into a locker to avoid a chainsaw only to get the iron maiden debuff...or you have that cheeky survivor locker hopping in the basement for a save.

It's not about what you have. It's what you could have. You know?

  • To be fair when I'm playing killer I try as hard as I can to make the survivors stop breathing as soon as possible.

To give a serious answer, he probably heard you moving through grass or your footsteps. Yeah he said he heard you breathing, but...I don't think so. I really think he must have heard something else. (Like his own breath.)

  • The monkey paw has heard your wish but not really.

She'll get a bright red Christmas tree dress with flashing lights and a glowing star on top of her head.

  • I got all excited and logged in to claim the item when I got home from work, but alas I was too late. All codes have been devoured, along with my hope.

I mean technically I could just buy it with Iridescent shards and I probably wouldn't use it except maybe once out of novelty, so if it brings more Dwights into the world I'm okay with that. Dwight makes everything better.

  • Gotta give you props for the game despite them hitting the gens so hard at the start though. That's why ya never give up.

  • This is a large part of why I bring Blood Warden. If I'm outclassed I'll single out/injure a survivor and down them when the EGC timer is nearing 30%. The emboldened sweat squad will save their teammate the moment I step away.

    Oh no.

  • I keep telling people. Survivors are terrifying gremlins with super powers but nobody listens.

    Til it's too late.

  • I think we know what inspired this post.

  • You should always be afraid of Michael Myers. He is the one killer that can remove you instantly from the game, given enough stalk, and you never know what add on he is running. The tombstone is iconic and should be appreciated for what it is.

  • The entire point of a survivor is to be helpless. That's why you're required to wait and get rescued by teammates. That's why you may not escape. That's the appeal. You're horrified and being chased by a slasher of some sort. If they want to have power over someone they should probably play killer.

  • I feel like everything Blood Favor does is done better by Spirit Fury, but I'm the type that likes my pallets to be destroyed and not preserved for late into the match.

If the killer's resolved to doing nothing themselves, then yes. Why be punished because the opposing side sucks so much they can't offer any decent chase or altruism? Also, escaping wouldn't mean you've done nothing, since you've done the objective or managed to find hatch. Although I'm a bit iffy on a free safety pip upon getting hatch. Perhaps this should be evaluated differently.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1827298#Comment_1827298

It's less about pipping, a reward, and more about black pipping, not getting punished, for a mediocre match with a sub-par killer. I don't think I should be obligated to throw myself in a hook they're camping (with an insta-down, it was a Myers) or waste time hanging around their terror radius doing absolutely nothing.

I think the entire community and developers will all agree in unison that matchmaking is a sore spot. To my understanding they're trying to work out the kinks for MMR with individual killers. It is coming.

  • One time before they added the window upstairs in Thompson house we had a cheeky afk wraith that trapped 2 survivors at the top of the stairwell. We couldn't do anything for them and the Entity ate them. The survivors laughed about it though so it's alright.

  • Well you have to remember if you're trying to pip and you escape, if you went down even once the max you can get is gold by escaping. You need to focus on the other emblems. You only have a limited time to fill out Objective, and you need to heal/bodyblock/rescue team people for altruism. If you're not sure you've pipped and you really want chaser just bug the killer. Even just hanging out in their terror radius will count towards emblem progress.

(Personally I think there should be emblems in the bottom right corner telling you where you're at on emblem progress, but that's just me.)
