But how can that be? Every forum member assures me they only play MMR. /s

You could end every "I'm high MMR trust me bro" comment by simply showing us our MMR. No one is afraid to know the truth.

It's lonely at the top bros.

When you play competitively, you get competitive survivors.

When you play the game like a game and have fun, you play against others that play to have fun.

Relax, take in the sights and have fun with your fellow gamers. When the match is over the only thing that remains is bloodpoints.

  • There should be tables strategically placed around the map where you have to either proofread something, file your taxes or order new parts for your add ons. New shipments should cost iridescent shards and after five minutes or so you should be able to pick up those items from a shipment truck that appears next to a generator. If the shipment truck runs over a survivor on the way in they die instantly.

  • Killers used to be able to Mori you the moment they downed you and you actually had to hide from them. Those guys would have been pretty rough.

Nowdays it's more of a theme park but eh. Fast queue times. What're ya gonna do.

  • Nah Budhha's right. If zombies could hook they'd 4k every match. If survivors aren't killing them with pallet slams then you can pretty much just act like a wrestling referee.

  • Every time I run a loop without a survivor present to guide me for more than a minute they come up to check and see if I'm okay.

Really though those boons take a while to set up and I brought that item because I wanted to use it. It makes me feel safe and I'm emotionally attached to it.

(Franklin's backfires on me a lot btw, I've lost my flashlight to a Franklin's user in chase and had another survivor come behind me and use my flashlight to save me after I go down. I didn't get that flashlight back but it's still out there somewhere.)

  • When Yoichi goes down he goes 'weeeeeh'

It sounds so defeated that if I'm not ready for it I laugh.

  • While I think Trapper would smell more like tar and oil, I think we can all agree on one thing. They smell like they need a bath.

  • The chat system is a shadow of what it used to be. I've really come to enjoy the cognitive dissonance though.

If you're going to get mad at a word, you're looking for it. I say that because you can read words on their own and if it causes you to go into a panic attack like the devil being forced to read the Bible, and you tell someone that then they can scribble the word on a paper and control you. Do as I say or be forced to read the word.

Is # or having the word less effective? If you're being insulted you probably still know what it is, but let's go a step further. There is a wide audience for Dead by Daylight now. What if it's just a misunderstanding and a foreign person doesn't know that you're sensitive to a specific word? It's not their language and outside of their interaction with you here they have no obligation to know or care any further about your language.

Stop gettin' mad at video games.

I just don't get the people who get mad you don't save them when it's like....2 survivors and 4 gens left. Going for the save is basically suicide at that point but people will be foaming at the mouth you didn't try and save them 2v1 against a basement bubba or something

I used to tab out and surf the net when I was the third person getting hooked at second state so the last person could get the hatch, but I get rescued so frequently I've come to the conclusion that since the killer is out looking for the 4th it's basically free Altruism emblem.

When I'm the last one left I still have the 'I don't care about surviving' mentality and will rescue and go down so the 3rd survivor can have a shot at the hatch, so they might be thinking the same way I do. Why do we do it?

I wouldn't put it on the same bar as 'being selfish' or anything, since letting the third hooked survive die so you can have a shot at the hatch is the logical thing to do, I think complete strangers controlling virtual avatars in hide 'n' seek murder game feel more emotionally attached to one another the longer the game goes on.

That first guy that gets sacrificed? Didn't know him, see ya later. Last two survivors? We're brothers of the trial, forged in the blood of the fallen.

You must live and I must die brother. It is the only way.

  • While it won't always work, don't leave the 3rd survivor slugged. Go ahead and hook them. It puts pressure on the 4th to either save the hooked survivor or start trying to find the hatch before you do. This will cause the survivor to wish to cover lots of ground quickly and will be easier to find due to the scratchmarks they'll leave behind.

(Also for the slugged person it's kind of boring.)

    The hardest thing?

Winning a match playing as survivor, definitely. The last 10 matches I played today I lost. It's getting impossible. Me and my whole team died on every single match I've played so far. On the other hand, I did farm a lot of bloodpoints even losing it. It was around 20-23K bloodpoints per match.

I feel this post like you wouldn't believe - though for me it's normally because I run back in to get that late hook save without regards to my own safety. Or the rescued. Or the killer's safety.

Bloodpoints are all that really count in the end anyway. (Unless you're doing a challenge that requires you to escape.)

  • I was being a clicky flashlight boi and running shack when I got sandwiched between Nemesis and a zombie and he let the zombie beat the crap out of me because I was playing the loop on autopilot and there was a gen in the shack. Couldn't move.

So yeah deleting Nemesis seems fair today.

  • Hillbilly post nerf. Pre nerf I never used M1 and chainsawed the entire match. The answer to everything was chainsaw.

Now I have to M1 when all I want to do in life is...UNLEASH THE CHAINSAW. I'm gonna get ya...overheated. Oh okay.

  • I just get to Tier 2, go hide somewhere with Insidious and wait til the survivors come to find me.

...but if I do play seriously it's my usual. Rancor (Or devour hope) Discordance, Ruin and a flex perk.

  • Personally I run Lithe since I have a stupid personal habit where I try to make the killer whiff on my Sprint Burst but 60% of the time I end up getting hit because the killer was too close before I Sprint Bursted, but you don't have to walk around with Sprint Burst. If it's up, it's up.

Who knows, it might come back up mid-chase.

  • Blast Mine, and I'm surprised it hasn't been said yet.

When kicking a generator, set a Blast Mine. When a survivor touches the generator it explodes and places them in the dying state.

"But Heartbound it would only blind them." No u. They get downed.

If I have to pick another one...Repressed Alliance but instead of gen repair it's just on a cooldown.

Hey I know you're about to finish this gen but oops, can't work on it for half a minute so how about a nice chase?

  • I've never been able to pull off Deception effectively. There's never a locker around when you need it.

Now, Power Pebble? I'll throw the Pebble and expect the killer to investigate the area but every time I do the killer somehow gets behind me and slaps me on the back of the head REALLY hard.

I never saw it coming because I was distracted...

  • It used to be common practice that you wouldn't run any add ons when playing Nurse since it messed with your blink muscle memory.

  • That's the way to do it. When I hook someone they cease to exist and the hunger grows. The moniker 'survivor' is a lie.

  • Locker.png

It's a time honored tradition. I was running around as Scratched Mirror Myers and I scared a Dwight so bad he wouldn't leave this locker. The rest of his team noticed and shenanigans ensued.

You take that back! Bubba has delicious chili that he worked very hard on. It even won an award!

Oh...oh god Leatherface is upset too. I'm sorry plz don't facecamp me! AaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAA!

  • You can equip Feng Min's 'Technician' perk to lose gen progress even faster.

  • This game doesn't even have food in it.

  • I get it. I absolutely body newbies when I play either role. I escape a lot and I kill a lot. I get it. I do, really, but hear me out.

I'm trying to finish my rift challenges and I do not need a legacy nurse giving me an impromptu colonoscopy every time I try to close a glyph.

  • Yeah it's main building, shack or blind spots that survivors will run into during a chase.

Not really sure how they'd fix it but that map really wasn't made with Trapper or Hag in mind.

  • I think there's a server issue going on in general. I was trying to do a "blind killer x time" rift thing tonight and it didn't feel right. (Like you know when it should have worked but it just doesn't.)

  • If you're 100% sure it's a Canadian just pull out a leaf blower and woosh them out of the trial. Their flag has a leaf on it for a reason.

End game collapse gets those unfortunate souls nowadays. Some people saw the risk of dying in a trial and said yes please.

  • Unicorn.png

I don't need mental help I am a unicorn. I also have a hook through my skull. Bren empty, no thoughts.

We will always love Bill. He's our best bud.

  • Yesterday I was vs. Trapper and I was dead harding over the obligatory shack trap that everyone puts down and a wild Feng appeared, bodyblocked me at the end of my dead hard and my survivor didn't clip through her so at the end of the dead hard I got trapped AND SHE DIDN'T UNTRAP ME.

    I'm still so SALTY.

I've also noticed I can't Dead Hard through killers anymore. Bring it back plz, I still do it on instinct but I just end up looking stupid.

  • Just be lucky bro.

I can relate to the derp teammate that suddenly starts looping like a madman, but if you're really not feeling being the first person chased just chill in a locker until you see someone get injured. Lethal Pursuer exists now though so if you do that run Head On just in case he sees you get in a locker. Start the match with a stun. The killer will appreciate it.

  • I like how advertisers are always really skittish about blood and violence etc but Amazon saw those meathooks and were like MMMMMMM I want in.

Old Dbd looks like such a fun time, even if it wasn't as balanced I wish I could have played back then

It was really great. It was just a bunch of horror enthusiasts having a good time. Lots more hide 'n' seek unless it was a Wraith 'cause two hit and runs and you were down (and potentially Mori'd, didn't need to hook anyone first.) but you didn't have entity blockers and you had a billion pallets. I'm not being mean but I think the fact this game keeps trying to be competitive, knowing how the game was at launch, will always make me laugh.

I'm glad for new blood obviously, because I like fast queue times, but just imagining a competitive Laurie Strode or something was just really silly...but here we are.

Edit: Wanna know how early competitive DbD was? You P3'd Claudette and you played a new moon offering and when you heard the terror radius you wedged yourself into the nearest L wall you could find and you sat until the slasher went to go do something else. Couldn't kick generators at the beginning either so you didn't have to worry about progress loss.

  • Pizzadweets.png

I'm feeling nostalgic so I'm gonna do more than that. Back in the beginning we had the pizza Dweets. I was a proud, proud pizza Dweet and I would do everything I could to deliver that sweet sweet pepperoni pizza to the exit gates at any costs.

    Olives.png

I remember dying of laughter just listening to Gary talk about the olive. Pre-game chat used to be amazing, you guys have no idea.

    Nea.png

One of my first escapes playing Nea. I think Halloween was a fresh release at this point. That rank 13 player was an absolute pro. That's a perk setup you still see today. I wished I'd be that good someday.

    Trappin.png

My first 4 mori kill game. I wish I'd taken earlier screenshots but back then in 2017 I really wasn't thinking I'd still be playing the game today. It's just a good time.

That olive man. It still makes me laugh.

They only know the meta. The day they're locked in with a killer using Cruel Limits, it will be the true enlightment they seek.

  • The important thing is neither winning nor losing.

The important thing is finishing my rift challenge.

"That which is Below corresponds to that which is Above, and that which is Above, corresponds to that which is Below, to accomplish the miracles of the One Thing."

    -Emerald Tablet of Hermes Trismegistus

  • I play on Medium apparently. I sat it to low years ago and it must have reset at some point.

Eh. It's fine the way it is.

  • Ruin is a staple for me since I'm a "seasoned" player and I don't feel like changing with the meta and all my killers already have Ruin so...Ruin. No undying. If they find Ruin, okay. If they don't, they don't.

Corrupt is great if you're a set up killer but the other perks have their uses. It's just hard to justify dropping something else out of my 4 slots since I'm usually on the run a lot of the time and I like things that make that playstyle easier.

  • It's one of the reason I heavily prefer Oni to Hillbilly. His charge doesn't stop just because he nips a corner but I do think instead of being hard stopped by a small piece of debris you should trip over it and stumble.

For what it's worth, I'm impartial. Like it if you want, hate it if you want- at the end of the day I'm just here to take the feedback. I'm sharing this information not to convince you, but because a better understanding of how the system works will only lead to more productive discussions.

That said, regardless of what the last test was, I implore you to check the feedback section for those two tests. While they may have been better for you, there are many people who disagree. It's important to remember that no matchmaking system is a one-size-fits-all solution.

Hey as long as you guys keep queue times quick then I'm down for whatever. While I enjoyed reminiscing about the old matchmaking system, I sidestepped the 30 minute red rank killer queues. Let's not do that again.

However if you bring back headless Myers or chainsaw Myers I won't be upset.

  • I get a survivor/slasher to level 50 and stop leveling them up there. No buying items on them anymore. When I use up all their items and their inventory is empty I prestige them and do it again. If I like a character enough to P3 them then I get all perks on them.

When you do it that way nothing is wasted, and if you aren't playing them/using the bloody cosmetics then it doesn't really matter anyway.

  • It won't solve 100% of the flashlight saves but always try to face a wall when picking up a survivor even if nobody in the game is running one so it becomes instinct. If someone is trying to go for a save they're not working on a generator so keep that in mind when you're getting swarmed by survivors.

  • The killer cube will not go down without a fight.

Really the original pip system was easy to pip on, it just took ~40 hours of gameplay to get to Rank 1. In its simplicity however, I think it did what it needed to do in order to keep newbies and pros apart. Well, at least until the 13th hit.

If you played a lot you were probably good at the game so you'd red ranks quickly. If you played occasionally and weren't too worried about it or couldn't get a 7k point average each game...you probably didn't get that high in ranks. You played with people like you.

Then you had green/purple ranks with people like me that couldn't decide if they wanted easy matches or to be challenged. It was a simpler time.

  • One of my favorite perks when a game goes south and you're fully recovered and one tap away but your hero comes with the slasher right on their tail. If I'm tryharding I'll run Soul Guard. Being able to get out of there and get someone else up can make all the difference, especially if it's a repeated thing.

  • When you manage to get away from the hook for one(1) minute you completely nullify HALF of the meta. It's amazing what you can accomplish when you go on the hunt for that one gen jockey that loves skillchecks more than his supermodel girlfriend.

  • As survivor: 5 generator chase on Leatherface AND I popped the NOED totem after he lost me at the very end due to another survivor derping around and muddying my scratchmarks.

It was the corn map with the shack in the middle and I just kept running a loop, crossing the map through the shack for one or two loops then darting to the tile on the opposite side of where I started. I'll give him credit, he was pretty chill about being ran like that.

Killer side I don't really have the attention span for extended chases but I've been taken for a 3 gen ride more than thrice.

  • You know if you had only the icon with no ability to explain what the perk does, by which I mean ONLY the icon 98% of the perks in this game outside of maybe Infectious Fright, Predator and Brutal Strength would leave you wondering what on earth these strange diamonds are for.

1 2 3 4 … 60
