How does she lunge? That’s a problem I was having with her.

The same way as all other killers, with the same range. If you know the approximate range with one you should be able to get the others fairly easily.

There is a minor slowdown upon manifesting for a tiny bit so the lunge may be very slightly shorter but it's also barely noticeable.

No, absolutely not what I need.

before that there was a page where you supplement your report in the game with the help of video.

    So... Support.

Support -> PC and Console -> Report a player -> Scroll down to "If you wish to report a player do so here" to open the ticket -> Submit a support ticket under "Additional Player Report Information."

    So, support.

  • What a strange, funny little creature

  • I have 3 proposed buffs that don't change her fundamentals much but would do a lot for her, imo:

    - After manifesting or teleporting, hitting a survivor within 5 seconds grants +1 stack of condemned.

    - TVs have a shorter cooldown after teleporting or being switched off.

    - It now takes longer than the basic attack animation cooldown to insert a tape.

This imo would help her mobility and game stall because condemned would become an actual threat suddenly. It wouldn't fix her anti-loop but that's okay, because not every killer needs anti-loop and not every killer needs to be top tier. Being hypermobile with a game delay that rewards you for playing well and getting hits is more than enough to be better.

Also fun fact: active TVs apparently only play their video if there's a survivor nearby.

  • Blood Fury is one of the strongest powers in the game. I would genuinely argue that Blood Fury is stronger than Blighted Corruption, Yamaoka's Haunting, and even Spencer's Last Breath when you use it correctly.

Blood Fury is counterbalanced by the fact that it is not available all the time, and especially not at the start of the game. As a survivor team, you're able to build pressure and keep it by denying the Oni is power, and the second he gets his power is when the game begins to shift (if the Oni is good). Giving Blood Fury at the beginning of the game would completely flip this balance onto it's head and leave survivors scrambling to build momentum and stop the snowball after they've spawned in.

Against a coordinated SWF who play the game well? I could see this working.

Against solo queue? Oh absolutely the ######### not.

    I have a question!

What do you think is best and worst thing about Dead by Daylight?

The worst thing imo is the lack of any true accessibility features such as phobia control, graphics settings, photosensitivity settings, etc.

The best is actually the parent company. Dbd is proof that a video game can succeed and do well even when if is incredibly niche without mandating overtime and long work hours. The staff at BHVR are actually treated really well, from testimonies I:ve been able to read online anyway, and the game has still survived.

Just something to add on the last point you made. I feel this is an issue: killers get so many good perks most patches, like a lot of stuff able to shake their meta or almost meta (powerful aura reading). The last good perk survivors got was CoH, which was busted. Nerfed twice, still pretty good. But before that? Game has gone years without anything able to shake the meta on the survivor side.

The point is that without base game changes I don't see a lot of hope on the survivor side meta.

The last good perk survivors got was CoH, which was busted. Nerfed twice, still pretty good. But before that? Game has gone years without anything able to shake the meta on the survivor side.

I think the problem with this, and the reason I'm hopeful for the meta shakeup, is because the Survivor meta is just so balls to the walls overpowered (COH, Dead Hard) or corrects a fundamental issue within the game which should've been fixed at base (BT, DS). With basekit changes being made and nerfs being given to the most busted things, I feel like we'll be seeing a lot less perks ran for necessity and because of just how much better they are, and it should hopefully be more like the killer meta which is substantially more diverse. Like, Overzealous could be good if Prove Thyself wasn't there. Boon: Dark Theory could be useful as a loop extender if Dead Hard didn't do it's job but 60x better. Why run Off The Record when you could use Iron Will?

I didn't think I'd see Dead Hard being healthy for the game as a take today but here we are.

see, you missed my point entirely. of course dead hard is not healthy in the current state of the game. im saying that it's the game's flawed base mechanics that make this perk broken where it wouldn't have been so in a normally designed game. it's not the perk itself being broken.

That is the one aspect of the comment you focus in on, despite asking people to read your entire OP comment and thus I did and responded to each section. Nice.

As your title, you said "Dead hard [is] one of the few good perk designs". For a perk to be well designed, it must therefore be healthy for the game, for "well designed" and "healthy for the game" in terms of game design and gameplay are entirely synonymous. You repeated the claim several times that Dead Hard is well designed, therefore repeating that Dead Hard is healthy.

For a perk to be well designed, not only must it make sense in a general context but also within the specific context of the video game. In fact, I'd argue that how it funcitons within the game it is within is far more important than how it functions in general. And how Dead Hard currently functions within DBD is not healthy, and thus must be badly designed, for they too are synonymous. Therefore, your title, and the many assertions you make within your post, are false, for you consider how the perk would function within a lot of games which are not DBD without actually focusing on how it works in DBD.

  • Dead Hard is interactive? Yeah when someone uses Dead Hard for Distance:tm: and there's nothing I can do except watch them chain 2 tiles they have no business ever chaining because I played correctly is so interactive, I adore having absolutely zero of my choices matter because E to Outplay.

i mean, imagine if Hope gave you 30% movespeed for 10 seconds the next time you enter chase instead of 5% movespeed over 2 minutes. imagine if self care healed you in 6 seconds, but it spawned a few healing herbs that you have to find in order to use it.

Then Self-Care would be either godtier or awful, depending on RNG, and Hope would absoluetly cripple 110 killers moreso than current. Nothing says interactive gameplay like "Your killer's base movement speed which you have no agency in controlling is simply too slow for this perk."

another thing: why is it that you try to balance the entire game around perks with a terrible design, instead of changing the game mechanics? for example you could make dead hard basekit and give killers a two combo hit. like lunge + small area slash after it, or two regular hits for when you get bodyblocked. the entire game would be more interactive with juking and whatnot. it's not possible that a game in 2022 is so clunky, that survivors can swarm you and all you can do is hit one at a time while they take turns tanking the hit and you have 2 seconds cd in between all of these.

I genuinely would prefer current DBD gameplay to this. Absolutely, without a doubt. Bodyblocking is easy to deal with in most, if not all, situations provided you can play it tactically, making it substantially more interactive than basekit Dead Hard which can be used for distance and a two-combo lunge rewarding players who can't aim and doing nothing to compensate for the fact you've made the most commonly used surivivor perk in the game base kit with no nerfs whatsoever.

    Not a great idea.

arent killers supposed to be a threat? the real threat here is a table between the killer and the survivor or simply standing still in group. it's honesly pathetic.

So you think looping and bodyblocking is unhealthy for the game, but Dead Hard and COH (perks which famously create very fun gameplay experiences for killers everywhere and have no complaints about them at all) are perfectly healthy for the game and encourage interactive gameplay? Because I don't see it.

also let me be more clear: i dont think all the perks i mentioned are meta because they're the best (some of them are, but not all), they're meta because they're designed in a way that they're fun to use and you notice their value. what i mean is, that dead hard isn't necessarily that much stronger than any other exhaustion perk. if spint burst was the interactive one instead, like requiring you to QTE shift, it would be the meta one. however there are also good designed perks that aren't meta like deception.

Head On is common cited as one of the most fun and interactive perks in the game, offering ample counterplay on both sides and giving survivors a very good reward (3 second stun) for succeeding in using it, but rewarding killers with a free hit if they play around it. It's very well designed IMHO, and yet it isn't meta because it isn't strong.

META is an acronym and it stands for "Most Efficient Tactics Available" or "Most Effective Tactics Available" depending on who you ask. In DBD, efficiency is effectiveness so it doesn't really matter. Perks are meta because of their efficiency in gameplay and effectiveness in allowing one to win.

So yes, perks are meta because they're the strongest in the game.

anyway, i guess the moral of the story is that i really have low if nonexistant expectations for the upcoming perk rework, especially considering that just now they released haddie+yoichi with the most useless, niche, and boring perks ever made. the people who created those perks are the same working on the reworked ones, keep in mind.

They also released Sadako with 2 excellently designed perks (Call Of Brine and Scourge Hook: Floods of Rage) and Dredge with 2 very strong perks (locker reveal and pallet break).

Overall, I think I put it best in a previous comment of mine:

"I didn't think I'd see Dead Hard being healthy for the game as a take today but here we are."

More denizens of darkness would be great. The lore speaks of nightmarish monsters already within the Entity Realm. We should see some of those since The Dredge is clearly based on that. Have you ever watched a DBD video & loved the wholesome energy the person gave off on their channel, but then you catch them live & realize they are NOTHING like they are on their videos? Had that happen to me with at least 3-4 different streamers (I wont say what platform they were on or who they are) and just wanted to know if anyone has experienced some distasteful creators (without naming of course).

I dunno man.....I feel like the reason people kinda don't want to play him is because there are stronger killers that actually don't have counter play. Why play Dredge when you can play Nurse or Legion.

Now you did not just try and say that Legion does not have counter play um...

  • I'm not sure if it's the worst period of dbd ever, but it's absolutely the worst period in recent years imho. Dark Days™ still has that title for a reason, but that was also at the very release of the game up until like the very end of 2017 so it feels ages away.

Having done some 1v1s the mindgame potential for his remnant is huge. He can be boring on some pallet dense maps tho where survivors can W key no matter the location even if you zone correctly, so you're just an m1 killer at that point.

I read it all and understood very valid points of why you don't like dredge, points that I did not consider and think they are valid af.

But in regards to sadako, you like her because she is easily dunked on? I mean you can be the best m1 killer on the planet but a good survivor will make sure a chase will last for a minute in the worst case scenario for them, idk I have never feel threatened by her, on the other side I consider her free escape points, and I think I have never actually been killed by a sadako actually, I dont play much survivors so it might be I have low mmr tho.

Imo I hate her because of that, she is the most basic you can get with killer design in chase, stealth that is useless against people who can see and hear, very easy to loop and audio cues for everything she does.

I like playing her because she makes me work while also providing me with smooth animations, what feels like lightning speed across the ground, and an instant teleport across the map. Even if she had kit buffs, I'd still be working for a victory.

I like working to win a game. Winning isn't fun for me, what's fun for me is the part of winning, and I'd much rather have fun getting 3 hooks total than secure 2 kills but stand still in front of a hook for 2 minutes at a time, for example.

She makes me use my brain, she makes me think, and she makes me outplay. As much as I love Pyramid Head, sometimes I crave out predicting and outplaying survivors in a different way.

Do I lose as her? Absolutely. She isn't strong. Would I complain if she was strong? Probably not, provided they don't rework her kit she'll likely forever be fun to me.

I don't exclusively like her because she's weak, I like her because her gameplay style clicks with what my brain enjoys. And Dredge, like a lot of recent killers (Pinhead, Artist, Slinger, Twins, Blight, Trickster, Nemesis, and further back) doesn't click with me.

It doesn't matter that Dredge is technically an improvement in Sadako, it doesn't feel the same. And thus it doesn't feel good, it doesn't feel fun, and it really makes me despise playing Dredge.

  • @squbax said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2991202#Comment_2991202

Havent you said you enjoy sadako a lot?, if you enjoy the most simple concept that is an m1 killer with a lackluster teleport, how can you find a killer that has much more boring? Im not even trying to be mean I am genuinly confused.

Since to me sadako is probably as basic as wraith gameplay wise, with a worse stealth that is, and her teleport has such a huge cooldown or can be disabled by survivors if they want to.

Yes, I absolutely adore Sadako. She gives me vibes of killer design from 2017/2018, back when this game was still incredibly fun for me, and I absolutely love the fact that I have to chase on foot and mindgame and hit-and-run and actually counter loops again. It's a gameplay style I have sorely missed and, with nerfs to COH and a buff to Sloppy Butcher, is also a lot better than you'd think. Sadako has very little slowdown when using any of her abilities, is tiny, has semi-okay stealth and an instant teleport across the map. She feels fluid. She feels smooth. And most importantly, she scratches an itch that Pyramid Head probably never can; she can be looped.

What this means is that survivors will loop her. Which means that I get every chance to outplay them, to prove myself better, to shut down their loops as they feel confident and cocky and go on a proper power trip as people severely underestimate you. Nobody holds W and pre-drops against Sadako, why would you? She has been fun from game 1, and I absolutely adore her style of gameplay. I love everything about her and while I would like buffs to her kit, I also don't want the basics changed too much.

In my eyes, she's the killer I've been waiting for for over a year and a half. I now have a killer I can play when I feel in the mood to dominate chases, and the game in general (Pyramid Head) and another I can play when I want to surprise the opponents, and when I feel like dusting off the old looping.

    Dredge... has none of that.

Dredge just feels slow, sluggish, and clunky. Sadako has smooth animations that just work. She is low to the ground, so feels substantially faster. Dredge is tall and because it's a collection of mismatched limbs it doesn't feel smooth to watch- why would it? Sadako's teleport, while on a long cooldown, happens instantly. Being able to equip Iridescent Video tape and continuously glide from one side of the map to the other instantly feels so, so good. Dredge can only do this is Nightfall, which is another major issue I have with playing him. Otherwise, Dredge just slowly meanders across.

Dredge's remnant reminds me more of an Artist Crow than of a Pyramid Head shot, and thus I hate using it. I despite Artist, I think she is an incredibly boring experience, and I do not gel with her gameplay style whatsoever. Dredge's remnant- set it up in a loop, zone them until they leave- feels much closer to a Dire Crow than it does to Rights of Judgement, where you can see someone and almost instantly fire off a well-aimed Punishment Of The Damned to hit them.

So, so far we've discovered I hate the teleport outside of Nightfall and I hate the anti-loop power for various reasons. Now, onto Nightfall.

Nightfall makes everything black and white, except for somethings very close to your character. It looks more like a badly made filter just plastered over the top than anything else, and I'm almost certain it is because Killer Instinct and Loud Noise Notifications are also in greyscale during Nightfall. Not only is this immersion breaking, and almost feels lazy, but it is hell for me to see. My monitor is broken and so is darker than it should be (and there's no in-game brightness settings, meaning I have to resort to filters), I have a hard time distinguishing scratch marks at the best of times, and I am colourblind. My eyes are almost as terrible as my wrists. During Nightfall, when I say that I cannot track while playing Dredge, I mean it wholeheartedly. I cannot see anything. And, naturally, losing someone you're chasing because of the passive effect kicking in feels awful.

This means that I am forced to strain my eyes to see things, which gives me a pretty awful migraine despite sitting an appropriate distance away and having very good lighting considering the budget I had at the time. Moreover, when playing against him, the limited FOV in Nightfall causes motion sickness to trigger and eye strain and that's a whole different can of worms.

TL;DR - Sadako feels smooth, even if she is weak. Dredge feels clunky and awful. I despise it's anti-loop, because it reminds me of Artist much more than Pyramid Head. Nightfall is horribly designed when you take accessibility into consideration. Dredge and I do not get along.

Sometimes, you just want that basic gameplay. Sadako gives me this gameplay that I crave, and always have done, ever since I joined in 2017. Dredge does not.

EDIT: I'm sorry for the essay, I've just had a hard time putting it into words for a couple of days now and I finally managed to think of a good way to express it so it just kinda all spilled out.

Maybe Dredge isn't your cup of tea.

    No, he absolutely isn't.

I can appreciate that, mechanically, he is very well designed, and he is relatively strong. That doesn't make him fun or engaging, however, and for me to have a fun gameplay experience is my number one priority, because after playing this game for 5 years I cannot stand taking it seriously.

And Dredge, to me, is boring. He is dull. He is bland, lifeless, sluggish, and I absolutely hate playing as him.
