Dude, I’ve been playing for 4 years and I already know you. Read the full thing before you make a comment about the first line, I’ve been around.

Ah so you've just admitted to being an alt account, big yikes.

That change wasn’t a nerf at all, so I can see why it’s preferred.

Old DS only worked on the obsession, which meant SWF couldn’t coordinate it as easily, it had a way harder skill check that was affected by perks, and the stun could be reduced by enduring, which was almost meta when this perk was introduced.

while stuns in general got reduced (an indirect nerf to DS), Enduring got double nerfed because it was made less impactful AND was made not to effect DS.

DS is like, the perfect illustration, the writing on the wall that informs the decision making process of the dev team. They don’t always get it wrong, but the trend is they tend to softball nerfs to one side rather than the other. I bet it’s because in solo and un-coordinated teams some perks are too effective when accounting for several different skill levels. But the thing is, most of the community has been playing for years now. I doubt new blood is flushing in at a very significant degree. Because one side relies on teammates, though, the side that tends to need more slack in term of coordinated effort is obviously the survivor side as in any given game you might have a single survivor cause solos and bad/mixed SWF to lose. So things are needed to cater to the general audience.

but the problem can be considered a power creep of skill. Eventually anyone who’s played for any significant time will improve to the point they hold their own in chases or are very good at playing immersive. More teams get coordinated and friends are made cross platform, folks learn from videos, etc. and eventually that thing you feared on the power role side becomes ineffective, and thus now you have to fundamentally change huge areas of the game to service players who cannot keep up on the side where they rely on themselves, because those minor mistakes all of a sudden mean a hell of a lot more now that survivors are more aware on how to capitalize on it (or have communication).

What can the devs do in there position? They must cater to the money. I can’t think of a more successful asymmetrical live service game that exists, DBD did what games like Gigantic, Overwatch, and It’s predecessor in the very genre, Evolve, were all unable to. And that’s that is due to catering to the majority. I don’t even

bother asking for balance anymore, because there will never truly be a satisfying level of it by the games very nature. I just get excited playing the new killers for a month or so, then move on to the next flavor of the month game until something else exciting happens, but expecting a fair, balanced, and less stressful experience as killer at this point? That’s asking way too much for a company that wants to maintain a profit.

II feel like I should clarify because of your first line, I'm a killer main and I very very very rarely play survivor because its absolute torture. I'll make it to rank 1, do my tome challenges, then not touch it till the next month. I prefer facing new DS than old ds or old old ds.

Also imagine thinking the DS changes weren't a nerf. Lol.

You don't need DS and unbreakable for solo play.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/6FSSWMYGURS8/untitled34234.jpg

This build gives me about a 70% survival rate at rank 1 as solo survivor. I only have about 150 hours in survivor, I'm not very good and I do not run any items or addons, preferring to find them in the trial. If I ran a medkit every game or most games I could probably push my survival rate to 80-90% solo.

Where did I say you needed it? I said that when there's no obsession solo I'd absolute hell, but even with one I'm still left to die on first hook when I'm first hooked and the killer isn't camping and I have kindred so at this point I'm convinced nothing will ever make solo survivor bearable. There are two people rn that I can even have the smallest amount of fun with and I'm not sure I'll ever be able to play with one of them again.

Idk man, I still think DS should deactivate when someone else is hooked, or when a survivor touches a gen or heals. In return, it should be a 2 time use perk, and the timer shouldn't go down in chase. Maybe make the perk basekit as well, to prevent tunneling.

I mean, never usually a problem for me. There are a couple times it's annoying but only because it's paired with Unbreakable.

  • @HectorBrando said:

They changed DS before Ruin, old DS didnt even need to be unhooked to be used, it was always active and the only requesite was if you were not the Obssession you had to reach 35% wiggle for the Skillcheck to appear (which almost everyone reached anyway, especially SWFs).

Also "If you removed D's I believed that a lot of things can change..." you are right, tunneling would be way more prevalent, almost as prevalent as it is in any trial where there are no obssessions.

I do believe the locker interaction with DS should go away.

locker DS and DS-Unbreakable are problematic, but I agree the perk should remain for the sake of game health. Particularly to make solo actually bearable.

  • Ew wholesome content, this is the DBD forums! You have to hate BHVR, DBD, and it's entire playerbase to post here! You're clearly not a true DBD fan!

    legit tho, <3.

  • They changed DS back in March 2019. It used to be an instant, 5 second stun, then an instant, 4 second stun, if you were the obsession, now we're here. I'll take current ds over old ds any day

  • I have this issue with the added benefit of his low FOV making me literally, violently throw up. Shadowborn tier 3 is a must right now for me, because otherwise he's literally unplayable.

I thought Nurse was bad, he's even worse.

BHVR please fix his camera height.

  • Thing is, even if you get clown now you can get Blight with shards later. I'd say Clown for 2 reasons:

    • On sale, so he's cheaper
    • He has PGTW and Bamboozle, arguably some of the best killer perks in the game, whilst Blight has Hex: Undying, which ensures Hex perks are better (like, hello, Undying + Ruin is l e t h a l) but doesn't really help for anything else.

Okay, a few questions (as in: how do I counter this?)

    • Survivors stall out the character selection, and change to 4 Morels with toolboxes at the absolute last second. Or just switch to double flashlights when I'm Hag.
    • Multiple Morels with toolkits, doing (see below)
    • A group of 3 survivors sticking together and moving from generator to generator, with 1 person on permanent lookout for me.
    • Whatever the hell 'Decisive Strike' is...
    • Survivors who use the 'hooks are much further away thing' and bring along 3 hook disassembly things. That's why I have Iron Grasp by the way - keep seeing it.

    ayo sorry for the delay

Survivors stall out the character selection, and change to 4 Morels with toolboxes at the absolute last second. Or just switch to double flashlights when I'm Hag.

This one doesn't really have a counter (except to go into task manager, shut down the game, and try and re-que). If survivors do this, they're just a bit pissy ngl. Depending on when they switch to double beamer, you could have time to dodge the lobby properly though. The thing I do is just grin and bear it, and thankfully a lot less survivors I've seen have been doing this now.

    Multiple Morels with toolkits

There's a perk from Bubba called Franklin's Demise which, after 130/110/90 seconds from them being hit, yeets their item into oblivion. It can help stall the game- they're not doing gens if they're getting their item- or just deletes the item from the game. There's also Overwhelming Presence from Doctor, although that perk is #########. Franklin's is the one to go for, definitely.

A group of 3 survivors sticking together and moving from generator to generator, with 1 person on permanent lookout for me.

This is actually an incredibly ineffecient way to play as survivor; sure someone is on lookout but you start approaching and that means all four survivors are no longer doing a generator, at which point you play a bit of defence and hit them all, getting them away from that generator and leaving them all to have to heal, wasting time, or making them easier to chase. The perk Sloppy Butcher (which you should see in your bloodweb as soon as you just level killers, since it's a universal perk) helps by slowing healing time by 4 seconds, from 16 to 20. Doesn't sound like much, but trust me, it adds up quickly.

Whatever the hell 'Decisive Strike' is...

Decisive Strike is a survivor teachable perk, unlockable from Laurie Stroke at level 40. The simple version of what it does is this:

After being unhooked, or unhooking yourself, Decisive Strike (DS) activates for the next 40/50/60 seconds. During this time, if you are picked up or grabbed by the killer, the survivor is faced with a skill check. Hitting that skillcheck will free the survivor from the killer's grasp, and stun the killer in place for 5 seconds (although this is bugged on a couple killers right now). The survivor who hits you with DS becomes your obsession, and the perk deactivates for the entirety of the trial. ("Simple" lol).

How I counter it is through what's known as "Slugging", leaving survivors in the Dying State instead of picking them up to generate map pressure. I go chase someone else and let them just sit there and bleed. Alternatively, I make a note of who's been on the hook recently and I just don't chase them, and go for someone else. I very rarely get hit with a DS unless a survivor forces me to grab them, and when I do I've already won the game and they can't pull it back no matter how hard they try.

Survivors who use the 'hooks are much further away thing' and bring along 3 hook disassembly things.

As mentioned before, Franklin's can help if they're sabotaging with a toolbox (by the way, "hook disassembly" is known as Sabotaging hooks). If they're using the perk Saboteur, it can only be triggered once every 60 seconds. I like to fake going to one hook then go to another, forcing them to waste their perk. Alternatively, I play the killer Pyramid Head, or The Executioner frequently, and part of his kit is to be able to ignore hooks and send people to a Cage Of Atonement, so I guess I've just kinda learned to drop, cage, chase.

Another thing to do is, like countering DS, just slug them. Leave them on the ground, or if they're in your arms drop them. Chase the person who sabotaged. If you have to, leave everyone dying on the ground, get a 4-man slug, then continue hooking people. It's kinda boring, but at times can be hilarious (and survivors get very very salty, which makes me very very happy).

I hope I could help; good luck out there in the fog :)

  • As someone who unironically plays one blink nurse with matchbox currently let me say I'd love these.

I too wanted to cry immediately.

Easy 4k, including a RBT head pop because they 3 gen'd themselves over a box. All purples and greens while I was in yellow ranks.

Mothers Dwelling as any killer makes me automatically sob lol

I'd love that, but currently I'm not really having fun on anyone. Hence me going 'well, I might as well grind this out'.

By this I mean, I feel equally as useless and bullied on every killer I've tried. Except Bubba, but then I basically have to camp.

If you want some tips or tricks to some killers let me know and I can gladly try and help out man :)

DBD isn't a new player friendly game, so all I can really say is to just stick with it, grin, and bear it. Mix it up with some survivor gameplay too so you can get bullied, tunneled, and facecamped as well; add some variety to your frustration.

And if you do decide the game ain't for you, then that's unfortunate but it can't be helped. I hope that whatever game you do play you'll have fun in.

I tried using Ruin for a day (using Hag now - not enjoying her at all) and not a single game went by where it lasted more than 5 minutes. Ditto her other hexes. Hence Overcharge.

Can't enjoy myself at all, so just grinding out the teachables I want. Its not fun and I can see...maybe 2 or 3 more days until I just shut down and go back to playing Marvel.

First thing to do then, before grinding teachables, is to find the one killer you like even slightly more than the others from who you have unlocked. For me right now, it's Nurse and Pyramid Head, but it could be Wraith or Trapper or Doctor or whoever. They're the people you'll wanna focus on because they give you the most amount of fun.

Also hexes making it 5 minutes is a miracle, usually they're gone in about 18 seconds lol.

His ability can still be used without zoning, watch @GoodBoyKaru stream him, he still has amazing anti-loop, even without zoning. Maybe make his punishment easier to hit, and nerfing the zoning would be good.

As much as I appreciate the compliment when I was doing that I was throwing the game (I mean, there wasn't a game left to throw at this point, but I was throwing the game).

But if they make his POTD easier to hit nerf his zoning, and idk give him some mobility? He'll still be top-tier.

I wish I could play against someone under rank 8. Cannot think of the last game that happened.

And this isn't me being good - I suck at this. This is me grimly slogging away because I spent a few bucks on this and considering just throwing the towel in.

Well I'm just gonna say to keep going. Sure, you had to sweat your arse off, but you still killed 2 of em. That's a ######### achievement and you should be proud.

Unfortunately, this is the current normal, however I guess the plus side is that you'll improve quicker?

I really hope you find some better matches man, specially since you've only been playing 3 days. If you want some help I'd suggest looking up some guides on YouTube on how to play certain killers or run tiles effectively, it's actually really helpful.

Also the fact you have Overcharge unlocked makes me think you've got Doctor and his teachables. On Hag, I'd strongly suggest Monior and Abuse, especially if you don't have any slowdown perks (no, overcharge doesn't count, and I can see why you wouldn't want to use ruin).

lol no. If a survivor wants to run OoO to give their swf a huge advantage then 100% their aura should be revealed in a cage. It's karma.

Oh I thought I'd said, but apparently I forgot. Their aura can't be revealed by killer perks. If a survivor reveals their own aura it's fair game.

  • UPDATE: This bug is not linked to custom game settings or an uncapped FPS. This bug was also not fixed during patch 4.2.0, as I've just experienced it again on regular Ultra settings, with a framerate of 60.

  • I just play normally and hope they're asleep. If they're awake I'm ######### lol.

  • Yo, what's up lads, I'm GoodBoyKaru but you can call me Karu :)

Unless I don't like you, then you gotta use the full thing. Every single time.

I live in England, and I'm still in full-time education.

My music taste includes basically anything that isn't metal, from the soundtrack to Heathers: The Musical to Sarcasm by Get Scared, to 7 Rings by Ariana Grande and just everything made by BLACKPINK.

I've actually never seen a horror film, the scariest game I played was Try To Fall Asleep, and I can't do horror at all. I scream, cry, then beg people for hugs.

Outside of video games, I love reading and writing! Currently I'm going through and edititng this really ######### fanfic for Bleach I wrote when I was, like, 12. It's actually amazing fun, aside from cringing at how ######### I was. AO3 is my lifeblood (and whoever creates Kingfield/Grimmichi fics yall sustain me).

Currently I'm in a relationship with the best person ever, @Cheers. No matter what he's going through, I'll still love him to the end of the world and back, and I'd give anything up to be by his side as he battles through cancer. (Cheers, if you read this, don't ever speak of it, thank you).

I'm also a black belt in karate, and have been for over 3 years now. I'm weak as ######### but hey, I know how to break your arm (and as an added bonus, I'm pretty sick at floor fighting because you just can't put me in a chokehold :p).

I stream sometimes on Twitch, although with the combination of school and the Cheers situation, I've been doing it significantly less. Currently I think my top 3 favourite video games would be:

    1) Until Dawn

    2) Try To Fall Asleep

    3) Dead By Daylight

    (ironically they're all horror games).

That's about all I can think of, but if you wanna know things just ask me. Usually happy to provide (unless it's personal in which case I'll ask you to nicely stop and let me resume crying).

Oh, and I'm a Pyramid Head main. That's how you know I've got an awful personality.

Maybe but instant is a stretch by far. I don't care if you're a mAiN, some of these these ideas are bad. You're not going to get them right after they been hooked unless they get saved right in front of you, which they should get punished for, or you were camping, in which case you lose the game if the survivors aren't potatoes because they will slam gens. This also assumes they have torment. You're also assuming that ruin is being used. This also assumes the survivors don't have BT. Saying "oh you get notified and they die" is ignorant. They'll be across the map, if they stay there after, again that's the survivors fault and they should be punished for it. Tunneling with cages is a horrible idea, you'll spend a lot of time looking for that 1 survivor when you could just hook them and know where they are the whole time. If you want to tunnel you hook, you don't cage.

Random locations would be horrible, the cage could appear right in front of you. The notification of where they get rescued is so you can plan around it the same way you do with hooks since sending them to a cage already loses you pressure in most cases, you don't need to be robbed of info that you'd normally get on top. Increasing the width of the POTD would make it borderline undodgeable with its current speed, let alone faster. The size is fine, its just too slow to hit and has way to long recovery.

The only things I could agree with is increasing the delay after he cancels his power to maybe huntress level, but reducing the recovery time substantially and allowing free movement while dragging, torment applying on hit, and making it hit faster. Players fake his power so much because using it is a huge risk, reducing the risk and increasing the delay for canceling would be fine. He's strong, but by no means Op or needing a nerf. The odds should always be in the killers favor when concerning any singular chase or singular player on the team, since there's 4 of them. We need more killers on a similar level but not all the way up to spirit and Freddy, not dragging them down.

Most people are fine with him the way he is, its a very vocal minority who don't like him from what we can tell as of this poll here:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/168855/pyramid-head-fun-to-verse-or-unfun-to-verse#latest

Most people are fine with him the way he is, its a very vocal minority who don't like him from what we can tell as of this poll here:

It's actually a "vocal minority" of the vocal minority. Many people who play the game don't have a forum account, and even then it's no guarantee that everyone on the forums has seen and partaken in that poll. Using that as evidence is unreliable because the sample size, for a game as large as DBD is, is actually incredibly tiny.

Its not instant, there's a decent hold time before you can fire, also if you want to tunnel someone you don't send them across the map to who knows where and giving up your pressure in the process in most cases. Coming from a PH player and survivor player, he's strong but I don't think a nerf is needed unless you're going to buff other areas :)

Trust me, there's not a particularly long hold time. If you want to tunnel someone it's incredibly easy; you hit them right after they've been hooked and cage them. Either they get saved, and a survivor gets off a gen (ruin exists so rip their progress) or they die. If they get saved, you're notified, and they die.

Coming from a PH main, a nerf is needed in these areas provided he gets buffed elsewhere

If you want a list of my proposed changes, then sure:

1). Don't get mad at bait or meme threads.

Obviously. I made a "Freddy should get stunned by fake pallets" post the other day and only one person even noticed I was joking. One person even got mad and defensive.

2). Consider any possible skill gap.

Many people argue about a perk-that-shall-not-cause-contriversy-in-this-thread and it's viability. Some come with killers, killer perks, there are so many possible things that take skill that you or the person may have. Which brings me to the next rule...

3). Consider their view on the game.

Experienced players, newbies, survivors, killers, hybrids. Everyone could be sorted into one of these groups. It's your job to consider their views before think, "mine is better!!!"

    4). Don't make DS threads

Not Etiquette, but I'd like to not see a DS or Spirit thread for a day or two. Please.

5). Try not to be toxic. Keep your cool.

Everytime you get mad at someone else's view and you leave a toxic comment, it fuels the fire. They then troll you for your reaction. (Might or might not be guilty of this.)

That brings me to the conclusion of this thread. I probably missed a lot but I'm too small brained to think of anything else. (Review 4 again)

only one person even noticed I was joking.

    Considering how often I take the bait, I will wear this with p r i d e.

I don't mind most of these changes, and I would say definitely add the wider PotD and the shorter delay. While all of those changes do seem worth it, I'm trying to keep it small for now. Especially since this is for every killer.

Balanced? Is the nurse balanced for example?🤣

PH is going to take a big nerve and won't be able to do anything against Decisives and others ? You will only see very rare PH, like now !

Become a developer ? NO ! It's a responsibility that I don't want to take on ! And I will do it for free !

No, not particularly. She's bullshit strong, but then at the same time she takes so long to learn well so it's kind-a okay.

I'd assume he'd have his cages changed to ensure it's significantly harder to immidiately tunnel survivor out of a cage. Also, if DS is that big of an issue, a special trick is to just chase another survivor. PH is already pretty rare now, but I'd still main him, at least until I see how he gets changed. It could be that he gets an overhaul, could be that they buff parts and nerf others, or could be it's just a nerf. I'll have to wait and see.

  • Pyramid Head main here, he's not balanced in his current state. He needs changed to be closer to balanced and not just, "genrush and hope he's bad enough to mess up chases". The developers change whatever they want, whenever they want, to help balance the game. If you don't agree go become a dev to ensure you're calling the shots instead.

How can I get a reimbursement for all killers purchased (cosmetics..) please ?

I have a Nurse that is only used for the top 10 players in the game, but for normal people it is unplayable ! I'm not talking about the other killers who are useless to me too...

Nerve the PH? Months after it comes out.. what do you call it ?😕

    It's called balancing, lol.

  • Every single match I argue with myself only to realise "wait I get Bloodpoints" and then I save them. So long as I don't get distracted by a gen.

I am a blendette main after all, I might as well live up to my nature and not save people.

  • This with a commodious + double duration = pain

  • It used to be ultra rare and in my opinion should still be one

  • Ayy it's the (wo)man, the myth, the legend, Fibi has returned.

Ngl I asked my question as a kind of joke because of someone that went on a tirade about being banned for asking that question and I wanted to see if it was true or not but hey, I'm glad I got an official answer for that question anyway lol.

Nice to see you're still doing these :)

Id actually like that, if his Rites was much easier to use and get a hit off of so he doesn't have to bait as much. Similar to a short range huntress that goes through walls.

All I want personally is for him to still be at least top 5 worthy. I like having him very strong.

Yeah, me too. I really wanna be able to still recognise the killer I'm playing but at the same time I realise the several issues there are facing him and that they gotta be fixed for all players to have fun (unless it's a bad PH because I can read them like a book and laughing at them is funny).

  • Personally I'd be entirely for making his POTD significantly easier and more rewarding to hit, as well as having it cause torment, as a tradeoff to losing the spam of his ROJ. Hitting really fun POTD shots is what makes him so fun to me, so I hope they can keep that aspect of his kit (and fix how it works vertically because that's just pissy).

In terms of cages, I'm not entirely sure what they can do except make the spawn random, make sure he isn't notified of the location of someone when they're saved from a cage, and anyone in a cage can't have their auras revealed. This'd stop the pretty hardcore tunneling that many PH players like to do (hook to cage to hook).

Pyramid Head main, but I'm very bad in terms of thinking of game balance suggestions so apologies.

So i just purchased and proceeded to P3 pyramid head and he's getting changed like 2 updates after his release.. cool.. sucker'ed me again, good on you guys

i'm sitting here trying to figure out reasons why he needs changing.. maybe if i stretch reality i can make something up

Okay coming from a PH main I can see a couple reasons why.

You press m2 and drag your sword, able to fire off a POTD almost instantly or cancel it 0.5 seconds. This leaves survivors in a pretty lose-lose situation (which is what makes him so fun to play, imo, because you can guarantee chases end quickly).

His cages promote scummy gameplay, like tunneling one survivor to remove them from the game ASAP.

One thing I hope they keep though is the ability to quickly hit through walls. People don't expect it and it makes me very happy hit those really satisfying shots.

Yeah I retracted my statement. I am a bit out of touch with the way it works now :(

Oh I do love happy endings

So when you are not in sleep world you can see where is the fake pallet too?

No. It will only block if you can see the pallet, like it'll only block Doctor's Illusionary pallets if you can see them. Otherwise, it's just empty space/broken pallet pieces.
