I know better then to argue with you, cause I've seen you don't listen well. The moral of the post is. No matter how badly your getting whooped as survivor, even it's you losing to a moron running perks that aren't doing anything most the match. Keys will save the day always. It's not fun to be "outplayed" by an item while your across the map looking for survivors.

I know better then to argue with you, cause I've seen you don't listen well

I appreciate the compliment- really, I do. But I do listen, actually, and change my point of view on things, but only when the people I'm talking to have a point :)

he moral of the post is. No matter how badly your getting whooped as survivor, even it's you losing to a moron running perks that aren't doing anything most the match. Keys will save the day always. It's not fun to be "outplayed" by an item while your across the map looking for survivors.

Now, this is a statement I can agree with. Didn't see this one originally because your original post said you were "[letting] them run away" and I assumed you meant you were giving them more chances and/or farming after a few deaths, after which a key escape doesn't mean much.

Isn't it much easier when people can actually talk to each other and not resort to petty insults within the first 15 words?

This is why people don't believe the DBD community is capable of discussion regarding balance

You say your opinion on a single addon, and all of a sudden

    "You are cherry-picking survivor main"

But if you say that, idk, Dead Hard should be toned down you're a cherry picking killer main

You absolutely cannot win with this community, ever

  • Not 100% sure on the point of this post but it seems like you have quite a bit of pent up frustration so you do you, I guess

  • @Kebek said:

People don't care for the fact that wraith even when now good and popular is still at best high mid tier killer.

They won't stop complaining about him until he gets at least 1 major nerf to cripple him again.

Getting rid of All Seeing Blood won't cripple him when his basekit is already very good???

Unless you're absolute garbage at tracking and get carried to higher ranks through that add-on, in which case you shouldn't be there.

  • It also showed that I was the only survivor who left the match on the rewards screen

So it was you that disconnected, not the killer, hence the reason for the ban.

Not necessarily a purposeful disconnect, or one that had anything to do with your internet at all necessarily, but you were the one that disconnected from that match.

yepp I am aware, but until an official date is confirmed - I will not confirm a date.

    That's fair enough lol

  • @Mandy said:

We've not confirmed the exact date of the Chapter release, however, if it happens prior to the 13th of the month, you will be given the equivalent of your current Rank so if you're Rank 20, you'll be Ash, Rank 1 = Iri (for example). Which is the same as it was in the PTB.

Then on the 13th of the month, everyone will be sent back to the lowest Grade and you'll receive a reward for the highest Grade you achieved in the previous season.

*it's going to take me a while to get used to saying Grade instead of Rank!*

I think a twitter post confirmed the chapter release to be "next week" 2 days ago, so a lot of people probably inferred that as tomorrow

  • I seriously don't get why it's so hard to just add solo buffs to make totem counting base without a perk - like hex perks, dull totems now also have a visual and sound queue for example, so you know where a teammate is doing a totem. It changes nothing about the strong communicated SWF and changes everything about the weaker role.

Buff this by giving better totem spawns and maybe increasing cleansing time.

Because it is genuinely logistically a worse idea to cleanse dull totems in solo. It's better to remember the location of them and slam gens instead of cleansing one, because you cannot control how the other 3 mates will play.

"Just do bones" is fine in concept. It's fine when all you think about is SWF.

But this game is not competitive, and people play alone. Don't forget that.

  • ✨No✨

Indoor maps make me sad. Encouraging the w key strat, makes counter rotation rather challenging if they do the w-key-but-i-use-my-eyes-behind-me plan, good for stealth killers but awful for most others, confusing to navigate for both sides-

I just don't like indoor maps. Especially not Hawkins.

  • No

There is a difference between using something and relying on something. If you cannot play the game without one specific perk, and refuse to ever not accommodate it in your build, because you rely on that perk, then it is a crutch.

The reason NOED, Ruin, Dead Hard, Adrenaline, etc are all commonly called crutches are because they are commonly seen perks. Any perk, however, can be a crutch

  • @TicTac said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2474443#Comment_2474443

Normally you need 1-2 meters. But i wouldnt be surprised if there is a tech, which changes that.

I'm guessing what happened was the survivor kept spamming the vault button mid dead hard, which queued up the vault ASAP. As dead hard slowly lowers survivor acceleration, until they are the normal 100% speed, which is the speed needed to hit a fast vault, the survivor having queued it immidiately after means that they would vault the window while the game thinks they are at 100% movement speed. Therefore allowing a fast vault even while "stationary" since the game saw them technically moving at 100% speed or over.

  • I'm unironically all for it. Promotes healthy gameplay, doesn't make good players any weaker, and allows a slightly more fun match for both sides.

Provided it's what I think it is, being "you can't cage or final judgement a survivor for 10 seconds after an unhook", that is.

Though I would prefer a slight buff alongside this, if only to help keep the power level similar since I don't think he's problematic balance wise. Just a little extra duration on his power and I'd love it.

  • @Aneurysm said:

A friend of mine often runs DS and deliverance and it gets her out the gates a surprising amount. It was also pretty funny seeing a Feng hit her with it when she was playing killer

And yet this would need her to not be hooked before all 5 gens are done so yeah I think it's fair she's rewarded for that feat

  • Oh no, the survivor who unhooked themselves is now useless for 60 seconds and it's much more efficient to actually go across the map and pressure the survivors not being useless, or slug that survivor if they are within your 3 gen.

What a crying shame that you're being forced to go for the survivors actually working towards their objective. How absolutely tragic.

  • I think you've already heard my opinions on this one in voice call but I'll give my main criticism again.

They still struggle from a lack of map pressure at the start of the game, and as the survivor team gets weaker they become a sort of "win-more" killer. I'm not sure how to flip this around the other way around, and I would gladly take any positive changes to him, and it definitely isn't a bad idea, I'm just not sure it'll help all too much.

  • Yes you are insane. These are the 2008 Spore forums.

  • This build gets most of it's power from solos because a well-coordinated SWF can call out their positions easily.

Gen regression will always be better than slug builds for facing the stronger opponents, and solo stomping builds shouldn't be in the game imho.

What makes these mechanically powerful are the people you face. Blindness itself is a terribly designed status effect that I wish would be reworked ASAP.

Wow I'm not sure what to think if that but it doesn't really sound that fair tbh.

What is everyone elses opinion on that?

i think it's completely fair. especially in solo, survivors are using 1 of their perk slots for a perk primarily used for stealth, and has the benefit of helping against 1 of the 25(?) different killers. it's like with calm spirit vs doctor.

survivors also cant tell which killer they are up against, and so cannot plan ahead with their perks.

furthermore, if all else fails you can just become a pure m1 killer. fixated will not help them there except in cases it would help against every other killer.

Wait you mean that in your game of PVP you don't like random guessing?

What kind of monster are you, to not think that guessing randomly is fun?!

  • It seems like a bug, and as far as I know happens when you have an item equipped at the start of a match after escaping with an item at the end of the last

  • Yes, and it works quite well. JRM used it in a video

Wait we are? Why? What's the difference between a realm and a map?

A map is just the place you play a trial- ie. Coal Tower, Mother's Dwelling, Fractured Cowshed. A realm is where these maps belong- Coal Tower is part of the Macmillan Estate realm, Mother's Dwelling is part of the Red Forest realm, and Fractured Cowshed is part of the Coldwind Farm realm.

Currently, the maps we have disabled are Blood Lodge, The Game, Dead Dawg Saloon, and Racoon City Police Station. Of these maps, three of them (The Game, DDS, RPD) are the sole maps in their realms, with Blood Lodge belonging to Autohaven Wreckers. Therefore, due to The Game, DDS, and RPD being disabled, we technically have 3 realms completely disabled.

  • Bans aren't discussed publicly here, and there's a high chance that this thread will just be closed with the advice of "try to contact the moderator who banned you through the bot" even if you can't find it.

Well I guess they won't change the ranking requirements or system in any way. And people already stayed at red ranks for months to years without a problem. So it won't be anything grand but at the same time completely free.

League of Legends and other titles with half year long ranked seasons don't have anything meaningfull given except maybe one skin (given that they have way more than 22 characters per side).

Getting free in-game currency each month doesn't sound so Bad. Lacking something, yes, but not bad nonetheless.

people stayed at reds when youd be reset back to 10, then to 5. now we're going back to 20 all the time.

So in all reality it looks like perks associated with hooking isn't that great on him. I've also realized that cage of attonment counters FL

But you don't want to be caging a lot of the time. Doing so is taking the map pressure you gain from a hook and shitting on it, before throwing it out of a window. You have no movement ability, remember that. You're better off hooking in a lot of situations and saving torment for Final Judgement.

  • Yes, it is.

  • @GentlemanFridge said:

On the topic of the RPD, it's called "Raccoon City Police Station", which does not make RPD, but RCPS. RPD would be "Raccoon [City] Police Department", wouldn't it? Is it like that in RE2?

No, because resident evil 2 calls it the "Raccoon Police Department" not the "Raccoon City Police Department" thus making RPD.

  • I think I know why. There's an exploit which allowed a survivor to "jump" onto a pipe while healing someone else, letting them run around outside the map and just leave the exit gates

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

So a few attentive people may recognise this from a comment I made yesterday (technically it was 24 minutes into today but let's not talk semantics). A couple of people suggested I make it a real post because "That's an excellent guide, very well put together." So, here I am. I've added a few more things so it's still worth a read.

This will cover what is, in my opinion, his best build and why, as well as a few tips on playing him & a few videos.

So hey, it's me- GoodBoyKaru, your friendly neighbourhood Pyramid Head main- here to give some swift Tips and Tricks(tm) to help make you a better Pyramid Head player!

For the record, this was made during DBD Patch 4.7.2

    Build

    PERKS

My personal favourite and imho strongest build is this:

    • Corrupt Intervention

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/5A01IV8RME2M/image.png

Crucial early-game slowdown on a killer without mobility, allows him to stall the game massively because survivors know that if they get found they're doomed.

    • Pop Goes The Weasel

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/FHA7ZFNAKVZY/image.png

It's the second best gen regression perk in the game, Ruin is too volatile to be anywhere near reliable on him because, again, no movement speed, he needs gen perks because he cannot move around the map quick enough, 11/10. "But you don't hook pe-" WRONG. You should be getting plenty of value out of PGTW and if you're overcaging then you're taking your map pressure and throwing it out the window.

    • Barbeque and Chili

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/SC8THLXSY3RP/image.png

Now, you could obviously put other perks here like Infectious Fright (amazing snowball), Tinkerer (Undetectable is nice and it helps tell you where to go but again no movement speed) or Discordance (amazing info, can sometimes do nothing about it). However I say BBQ because I like the perk and also because bloodpoints.

    • I'm All Ears

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/V90CSL0I44NO/image.png

Hands down the best perk in the game for Pyramid Head, that's six seconds of wallhacks. I cannot stress how valuable this is with his power- that is a guaranteed free hit in 9/10 situations. To show what I mean, I've linked a timestamped video below of where IAE comes in so clutch- continues to 5:16 in the video.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJs4rvkppqs&t=296s

(you can watch the whole thing if you really want I'm proud of the game).

An honourable mention here goes to Ruin/Undying over Pop/Corrupt. As I've mentioned before, Tinkerer isn't a great perk on him due to his lack of speed, but the same goes for Ruin/Undying. You don't have the map mobility to defend your totems, especially if they spawn further away, and you'll probably end up losing two perks before 2 gens go. Corrupt/Pop is just more consistent in my experience.

    ADD-ONS

So, his add-ons aren't great. The best ones, by far, are range add-ons which, when combined, extend his POTD by up to 2.5m (10.5m total). These are Burning Man Painting (Rare), Wax Doll (Uncommon), and Black Strap (Common), which ass +1.5m, +1m, and +0.5m respectively.

    tips

Okay so rule number one is to not break pallets. Sounds weird but, just trust me.

His power is incredibly strong in a chase- so much so that if a survivor commits to an animation they die. If you don't break pallets (with some exceptions like God pallets) you can do amazing things. Because who doesn't want more opportunities to win a chase, like, instantly? It turns incredibly safe pallets into death sentences

To show what I mean, here's another timestamped clip. Ends at 10:58

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gu3X5o9GpjY&t=646s

Learn the range of the power. 8m is specific and sometimes you think you can hit things and you can't. You need to be very careful, especially when playing with range add-ons for so long, because it can and will screw with your perception.

Adapt to the survivors you're facing. A lot of players will fake taking an animation, go to the side slightly to bait your POTD or your cancel, and then commit to the animation. If you turn to the side and release, you'll catch a lot of these survivors out and get a hit. It's really satisfying to do. Alternatively some survivors will commit to the animations regardless, in which case you'll know to aim in the centre. Other survivors will just hold W and pre-drop pallets, in which case you know to leave them because you'll really struggle catching up, or do not use your power.

I cannot stress that enough. If a survivor is pre-dropping W key gaming, do not use your power. M1 killer them.

Don't overcage and don't stress about torment. If a survivor loops you, they'll get tormented. That's just kinda how it works- you stick your knife in, follow them around a loop, and release your POTD after tracking their movements.

To see what I mean we return to the first video, again timestamped. Clip ends at 1:36.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJs4rvkppqs&t=83s

See how I hug the car, turn the camera and use the power to hit him out of animation lock? Had he kept running, easy torment too.

In my opinion, only cage someone in one of four scenarios:

    • You're afraid of a DS (just please don't tunnel I'm begging you)
    • You're afraid of an Unbreakable (much more likely)
    • You can immidiately get into another chase
    • It would place you into a Pressure Point Of No Return (name pending).

What I mean by that last point is that there comes a time in a DBD game where the killer will hit a Pressure Point Of No Return, where the survivors physically cannot come back from the amount of pressure and momentum you're building. The best example of this as Pyramid Head is where you split the map through cages. You have two downed survivors. Cage one, hook the other. Nobody is on a generator, you have a BBQ proc to interrupt the person saving the cage or the hook, and now the last person must save both people. On especially large maps, like Mother's Dwelling, or multi-storied ones, like Midwich, this can force people into second stage and you've won the game at 5 gens. It's more common than you'd think.

If you cage at other times you're probably wasting pressure you could've gotten from a hook.

Learn where you can and can't lay trails. In front of totems and lockers? Amazing. In front of a gen? Not at all, it becomes a Restricted Trail Element and disappears after a few seconds. The DBD Wiki has a section on this which I'll just paste below.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/2808XTGCLSHV/image.png

I'd highly, highly suggest reading the wiki page on his power as it's really useful in understanding the fundamentals and giving actual values to words. Here it is:

    https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Pyramid_Head

Finally, learn where you can and can't use POTD. It sounds like a simple thing but learning where you can and can't use it, however there's a lot to it. For example, learning how vertical changes affect it. Did you know if you release his power on a slope going up it'll fail, same with releasing it on a slope going down. However, if you're barely off of the slope it'll travel down it, but only if it isn't too steep.

It's nuts but knowing where you can and can't actually have an ability is, funnily enough, pretty important.

    A few more quick-fire tips:

    • Don't just go for animation lock shots. People expect these and adapt. Be unpredictable to catch them off guard and get easy hits. Like this:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0U1k10I-zG4&feature=emb_logo

Bet they didn't expect that one :p

Needless to say that was where I hit a Pressure Point Of No Return and poor Jakey couldn't pick up the scraps.

    • Don't spam his power. You waste too much time. Be precise, predict, and adapt to your opponents.
    • Don't spam his trails. You move at 110% and you already lack a movement ability, you waste too much time.
    • Tunneling isn't the best strategy. I know it seems like it because cages but again, you do not have a movement ability. Survivors can and will facefuck generators and ruin your day substantially.
    • Dead Dawg Saloon and Hawkins are both maps you never press M2 on ever. Play like a default M1 killer because the map design prevents you from using your power. They're pretty much auto-loss maps, ngl, unless the survivors really badly mess up.
    • Play survivor. Learn where survivors move and how they path, shoot POTD to hit them. That's what I did in that last clip.

And, yeah, that's about it. If people have any questions please let me know and I'll try to answer them as best I can, though I think this is comprehensive enough.

I made a guide!! I think (and so do other people) it is very good!! It covers this!! :D

  • Okay so I'm for it because I think it'll help put solo q massively.

I'm against it because at the start I'm going to be getting incredibly sweaty games on my mains because of how much I play this game, and in order to keep playing relaxed and casually without needing to sweat all the time I'm going to have to go on a large losing streak as killer.

I'm for it because it will enable me to play killers I don't normally play, like Oni, and finish off my achievement collection.

I'm against it because where I'm supposed to be is with the sweat Lords according to my skill, but not my playstyle, and where I'm supposed to be is not fun. It is not fun to face Blight 30 times in a day with no build variety, solo or otherwise, and have teammates who just bang out gens as I'm attempting to have fun with Head On.

I'm for it because it will enable the devs to look at balancing some of the more extremes, as well as finding which perks are most effective vs solos and nerf them into the ground because solo stomping perks shouldn't exist in this game.

I'm against it because I know this is BHVR, I saw the ######### Small Game change, and after that I know that no balancing around solos will ever happen.

Your wooshy, short-sighted post totally misses the point.

More and more Killers are tired of trying to "play nice for the Survivor's experience" because the Survivors never return the favor. They're the most self-centered crowd in all of video gaming. And your self-centered, oblivious post illustrates this.

Except the majority of survivors in EU do play nice so maybe when you're arguing from a point of experience be away that others will argue back from their own.

  • I feel like I should say the game recorded in this tweet occurred during a custom game. No actual trials were exploited here.

I probably would’ve used Karu at some point if you didn’t say anything. I’ll try to remember saying GBK.

People can disagree, but I still think that reasonable discussions can be had. I think it’s generally difficult for people to swallow their pride, especially behind the cover of anonymity. Idk why you called me Susan but I’m glad you didn’t completely blow up with my response lol.

    ****

To not derail the thread, here’s to hoping 5.2 is a meaningful stride towards improved optimization.

Oh! The Susan thing is something I do when I'm attempting to be even more passive aggressive than usual, whilst also not attempting to be hostile- like in a "I don't like this conversation but I don't hate you" sort of way if that makes sense? Basically I just call someone a random old person name- be it Michael, Susan, Johnathon, Kirsty, etc- though you're the first person to respond in turn so props there.

It's not exclusive to the forums, I do it everywhere I have interactions, except including irl because I started it after March 2020 and existing within 2m of people since then is strictly prohibited lol. Sometimes it's meant in more of a hostile way, but that usually comes along with lots of swearing.

  • I... don't really deal with it well. Usually it bottles up, and I procrastinate doing the task in order to avoid feeling stressed now.

Go out with, or even just call up, some friends. Believe me, it's a major relief. Take your mind off of the bad things and focus on the present, and how you don't need to worry about things just yet.

Music is a godsend. Listen to music. Find a band/genre that helps you and just vibe.

Writing down your feelings can help a lot. Just let things out into a personal space only you can read, and probably won't even do so. Acknowledging your issues is the first step to solving them.

Look at cute things, if that's your thing. Find something that helps (for me, it's watching videos of tiny kittens attempting to copy their dads and jump across kitchen cupboards before falling onto a pillow and the dad rushes down to make sure they're okay, for example) and roll with it.
