It isn't even licensed characters, they do it with clown too. I'm one of the few people who likes going against the killer not because of their power and how OP they are or not, but because of who they are. The devs are adding horror icons into the game and my point is that outfits that change a character heavily just ruins the experience. My point is that if the majority still likes that cosmetic then the game is doomed because many people say that dbd is silly anyway so these outfits are justified like having a scooby doo skin for demo. People don't care about licensed characters because when they go against nemesis (literally a character from resident evil and the cool zombies) people DC. People don't appreciate licenses and everyone here doesn't care if Michael has a shirtless skin. I'm the only one who wants them to be faithful to where they came from, nothing more.
Sadly, then, it feels like your interests don't allign with the company's interests, nor the majority of the community's interests. Unfortunately, I don't think there's really anything you can do- at the end of the day, BHVR are a company with a near-enough monopoly on this genre, so they can afford to alienate a few customers who wouldn't be paying anyway for the greatest profit and high barriers to entry + exit allows them to run high profit margins + maximise profit with little risk. Outside of just "sucking it up" I don't think there's much you can do.
However, I'm glad that you took the time to respond to me; I now understand a lot better where you're coming from. Sadly, in a game as repetitive as DBD, the novelty of "omg this is Nemesis" wears off fast, particularly when they are given kits that are pretty uninspired.

The person under the mask isn't from scream
Correct, I'm so glad we've established that. But again, BHVR isn't ruining a licenced character through official collaborations with the licence holders. It's still "The Ghost Face", who is still different to "Ghostface".

Because the company owns ghostface but ghostface is the scream killer therefore ghostface is the killer with black robes and white mask, not silly ice face ghostface.
Not quite.

Oh yeah fax because "The leatherface" would sound wierd so it's "The Cannibal" so what's the point of your comment?
The point of all of my comments thusfar this thread have been to see how BHVR have ruined licenced characters through optional cosmetics which have gotten explicit permission from licence holders, who decide what does and doesn't ruin their character. The more recent ones have singled into "Ghostface" and "The Ghost Face" due to you deciding that the character from DBD and the character from Scream are the same- which they are not- and then asking how exactly creating a cosmetic for one character ruins another from a completely different franchise.

Because ghostface is supposed to have the black robes and white mask
"Ghostface" and "The Ghost Face" are two completely different, unrelated entities sharing nothing but a mask. How are BHVR ruining Scream by creating cosmetics for an unrelated game in a joint marketing ploy with a costume company?
-
@Erd69 said:
Because ghost face is the right way of spelling the name lmao. "The" is always used in dbd for every killer because naming leatherface "The Leatherface" is weird I think.
Damn imagine seeing all of my point and deciding to ignore it and take that away from it.
(Also Leatherface is named "The Cannibal").

I think that what Erd69 was trying to say;
- Scream and Dead by Daylight needed permission from Fun World to use the Mask.
- Dead by Daylight had taken a lot of inspiration from the Scream franchise into designing, and animations for the Ghost Face character.
Which it's really obvious they had with how Ghost Face performs their attacks, open's the locker and opens his arms before pulling the survivor from the locker, and wiping his knife after getting a hit. Also holding the knife;
And yet there is zero relation between any of the characters, and any cosmetics created by BHVR for use in their game for the character "The Ghost Face" have zero relevance to the character of "Ghostface" from "Scream".
So, how exactly are BHVR ruining "Ghostface" through cosmetics for their character, "The Ghost Face"?

The ghostface from dbd is from scream and both scream and dbd had to ask for permission to use the mask. The dbd ghostface is from scream, how? Because the ghostface character was an idea in scream, where did the devs get the animations from for ghostface? From scream lol. The blade wipe animation is from scream. It's scream it's just that they had to go to funworld to get permission to use the mask and only got the mask. It's the ghostface from scream it's just that the characters under the mask is original 😂
how can you be so confidently wrong? lmao
Okay- let's break this down, so please read this carefully.
In the film series "Scream", they had to get permission from "Fun World" IIRC to use their "Ghost Face" mask, leading to the creation of the killer "Ghostface" in the franchise (please note the difference in spelling there, because it is important). Under this mask were many different characters, who are irrelevant to this discussion, and all you need to know is that none of them were the character of Danny "Jed Olsen" Johnson, the man underneath the mask in DBD.
In the game "Dead By Daylight", they had to get permission from "Fun World" to use their "Ghost Face" mask, leading to the creation of the killer "The Ghost Face" in the game (please note the similarities in spelling there, because it is important). Under this mask is Danny "Jed Olsen" Johnson, and not any of the characters from "Scream".
"Scream" has "Ghostface". "Dead By Daylight" has "The Ghost Face". The "Ghost Face" mask was not created for explicit use in the film "Scream", released in 1996, and in fact predates it, although it was known as the "peanut-eyed ghost" mask before Scream allowed them to rebrand to Ghost Face. The mask has been around since 1991.
Now, in relation to "The Ghost Face" cosmetics for "Dead By Daylight"- this character, from the design to the lore to everything outside of the mask, is entirely exclusive to and created for "Dead By Daylight". There is no relation whatsoever to Scream outside of the use of the "Ghost Face" mask. Therefore, any cosmetics that are made and released are created with the sole consultation of "Fun World" and nobody else, and "Fun World" have been rather receptive to new cosmetics. It does not matter what your views are on if this would/wouldn't fit into "Scream", because it has no relation to "Scream", and nor does it matter on your views on if it would/woulnd't fit any of the characters underneath the "Ghostface" killer in "Scream", because it has no relation to the "Ghostface" killer.
Is this clear enough for you?
EDIT: I forgot to include this, however new skins being made in "Dead By Daylight" for "The Ghost Face" are also used by "Fun World" themselves for official merchandising, like here:
Officially Licensed!So, again, no relation between "Scream" and "Dead By Daylight", nor are any of the characters related.

Well that is basicly what I described there in just other words xD
Kinda- from what I can see, you're talking about classifying perks into certain categories (ie. second chance, anti-gen, chase, healing, etc.) and then limiting the number of these perks that can be taken per survivor per game (even if that limit is 4 and so would have no effect, thats probably how it'd work in the code) whilst i'm on about hard choice restrictions which limits only specific combinations; you can run wild with corrupt, deadlock, thana and pop (while they'd probably all be anti-gen perks by your category), but you couldn't combo, say, DMS or PR anymore. idk whatever combos are complained about. basically provides more freedom for builds without allowing problematic combos to continue to exist.
also butcher coh that'd be nice
-
Choice restrict combinations that are too good. You cannot use Tinkerer on Blight, for instance, nor can you combine Boon: Circle of Healing with, say, Dead Hard or a Medkit, idk. Just choice restrict combos that are too good,
-
To play as? Absolutely. My favourite killer in dbd, full stop. He's an icon. He is the moment. He is gorgeous, so much fun, I love the killer with all my heart.
Using your power isn't a chore. It's a blessing. And it feels so good to get good as him and use it well.

Stop confusing a bug that crashes the game with talking about whether or not it is appropriate for a perk effect to be triggered.
They're both bugs????? And they'll both be fixed????????

Wake Up has a bug that crashes killer's game.
So it was applied a kill switch.
Does that have anything to do with it?
Yes, it does, because it proves that the devs just fix bugs and don't let survivor ones go free while killer ones get fixed.
-
@Uotsumi said:
Enduring has been nerfed so that the effect is only triggered on pallet stun.
It is powerless against DS and Head On.
As it is a palette stun, the stun duration should be reduced.
Wrong decision by BHVR.
It's also a bug and not an intentional effect. Also, when Enduring was changed, they buffed the stun effect vs pallets.

This is a joke, isn't it?
How far does Devs help survivors?
If even this is not allowed for Enduring, then that perk could give the killer a Haste effect after reducing the palette stun duration.
"How much do the devs help survivors?!" I'm sorry did they not killswitch wake up?

It's capitalizing on a weakness, to be fair. It's still commonly held that if there's no weak link(s) on the survivor team, you lose. Survivors can also capitalize on weakness. "This guy doesn't have Corrupt/Deadlock? Buy us 4 minutes and we're outta here."
And if you do this only to complain when people are running the meta then you're a hypocrite who forces players 5o use the very things you hate.
-

It's also much much louder and gives them a 2s extra warning.
-
@PerfectlyPink said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2844488#Comment_2844488
Yeah so just like Freddy. That still gives them tons of time to run to safety which entirely defeats the purpose of stealth
Not really? Freddy is 32m, Sadako is 24m. It doesn't seem like much but that's 2 seconds less of distance and again, you don't know the direction.
It's also a lot quieter than the LALALA LA LA LALALALA
-
It's a quiet 24m range that gives no directional indication. From my experience as and against it really doesn't impact her stealth at all- the thing you should be taking issue with is her flickering in and out of focus, which has a much greater effect on survivors being able to run away.
They have a 5s, non-directional notification you're somewhere nearby. And by the time most people have registered it and began to look around those 5s have been counting down.
-
By not hardcore tunneling someone that doesn't use meta perks..? Like if you're gonna complain about the meta on either side and then use perks/tactics which do nothing but encourage this meta then you're just a hypocrite lmfao

The pattern of bugs returning after being dormant for years is rather concerning.
The bug that resets all your progress recently came back too after being "fixed" for a year or two.
Ah yes, returning bugs. Because this is absolutely the bug that increases action speed by 15%. Definitely the exact same bug. This is a bug which has happened before, totally isn't brand new.

I thought it always worked like that,you are getting stunned by a pallet so it shouldn't matter if you carry someone or not.
The perk clearly mentions it reduces a pallet stun duration.
A pallet stun =/= a pallet save
They have always been treated differently by Enduring, hence why I asked if this was or was not a bug, because they still are treated differently (it's not a flat 50% reduction on the stun- more like a 20/30% reduction from what I could see but can't test it myself because I only have 2 devices to play on + this needs 3 players) it's just reducing the stun by a little bit.
-
@Adaez said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/311961/enduring-bug-or-not
Why do you think this is a bug in the first place lol.
Because when a perk does something it never used to do and there is nothing in the patch notes about it doing this, I usually assume "bug" over "shadownerf/shadowbuff" and oh would you look at that the Badham walls that everyone said was a shadowbuff was actually a bug it's mad how these things happen

This game is not a rocket science, being "bad" at literal M1 stealth killer like her is not possible.
Shockingly it is. A lot of players really don't know how to mindgame, the proper route to run tiles (so many run L t walls on the outside and give the survivor 3 fast vaults ???), moonwalking, etc.

But flashlights still give better value, no?
Entirely depends.
If you get a flashlight save and the following chase goes on to win you the game, yes.
If you cannot get a save and waste 50 seconds+ every chase just waiting for the save only to go down because the killer knows you're there and has a brain, no. In fact you've probably thrown the game.
-
Imho toxic behaviour doesn't involve the kebabbing/camping/tunneling/tbagging/clicking, and does involve harassment, slur usage, and other side behaviours like breaking in-game rules of conduct.
All of the above can stay in the game because they aren't toxic (though they aren't fun either, so that's an argument for removal and compensation) except flashlight clicking, which poses a serious photosensitivity threat and as such should be removed or the game given a photosensitivity warning
