Honestly... I rather they just rework the maps.
Then, no one would need to pick a map, because you can do well in all of them
Theres always going to be maps that a Killer is going to be better or worse on.
Like Hillbilly is always going to be crippled by maps like Hawkins and Lerys because they are tight, close quarters maps where he cannot use his power effectively.
Thats not an issue with the map itself, its an issue with the RNG.

Uncertainty and unpredictability prevents this game from going stale.
Plus there are map offerings.
A random selection of 3-4 maps out of 30+ isnt going to make the game stale. Its still plenty of varience.
Also I have already stated the issue with offerings.
@brokedownpalace said:
Also, I'm not sure if you don't play survivor or what, but plenty of times the RNG screws over survivors as well. Not everything is about the killer.
I'm a Survivor main.

So the killer decides which map we'll go in everytime?
Oh yeah, let's go to Shelter Woods everytime. I don't think so.
Killers can also pick a map offering or are you not taking that into account?
So you didnt read the post at all.
Its from a random pool of 3-4 maps, chosen from the 30+ maps in the game.
They cant just pick whatever they want.
And again, I already explained the issue with offerings.

And that's what the devs are doing. This game is largely about randomness. Allowing the killer to pick the map, even if from a pool, is unfair. Completely taking any say away from a huge chunk of the game's population is not the way to go.
Randomness is a large part of DBD, but its to the detriment of the game, not benefit.
DBD needs less RNG overall.
Generators, loop setups, and tile locations are enough variance.
There doesnt need to be the type of RNG where "whoops you got a bad map, now your choice of Killer is severely crippled"
Thats bad RNG and should be removed, which is exactly what having the map selection pool would do.
Saying Killer being able to choose the map is "unfair" is completley ridiculous.
Getting screwed over before the match even starts because of RNG or because a Survivor took an offering, now thats actually unfair.
-
@terumisan said:
I mean if you allow killers only to choose maps they wouldn't do it since it's unfair to survivors but if you do a voting system all survivors would do is pick farm maps or haddonfield which is awful
Exactly why its not a voting system.
Its the choice of 3-4 random maps.
Survivors shouldnt get a say in map picking anyways. Killer's are the Entity's chosen and the maps are the Entity's realm. It makes zero sense for Survivors to be able to pick maps, both in terms of gameplay balance and in concept.
Besides if you want to talk about "unfair" how about the fact thats its a total of 16 perk slots vs 4 perk slots, or that Survivors have a total of 4 offering slots, while Killer gets 1. But thats not really related to this discussion anyways.
-
@brokedownpalace said:
This isn't going to happen. There are certain maps killers would always pick or always avoid.
1) They wouldnt be able to just pick any map they want. Just from a random selection of 3-4. Theres nearly 30 maps in the game, there is tonnes of room for varience.
2) If there are specific maps that Killers always avoid, the devs should take a look at those maps and rework them because if nobody plays those maps theres obviously something wrong with those maps.
-
The perks being shown in the lobby should be added.
But the entity legs during chase should not. It shouldnt even be there for the obsession.
-
Never. Killers are too underpowered to be a real threat to be scared of.
-
Franklins doesnt stop Survivors from just picking the key back up. Furthermore the hatch-opening mechanic is not affected by durability.
That means you have to deal damage to the key 7 times to destroy it.
Thats assuming the survivors even let the Killer do that. If the key is left on the ground until the hatch spawns, the Killer cant do anything about it.
Franklins does not counter keys. At all.
-
I would be fine with Keys being removed entirely if Moris get removed too.
Both are just a lame "end the game early" button.
-
Tip 1 - Do not cleanse.
Tip 2 - Do Not Cleanse.
Tip 3 - DO NOT CLEANSE.
Giving Plague her atomic breath is a hundred times more dangerous than just being injured.
-
Scarred Hand, maybe the trigger radius addons, or trigger duration addons.
But as Redcum said, Waterlogged Shoe Hag is pretty much just an inferior version of Dream Snare Freddy.
-
Saying D.Strike is just an anti-tunnel perk is extremely disingenuous.
Its 60 seconds of the Survivor being able to just do anything they want and the Killer cant touch them.
And during endgame, its literally just a free escape that the Killer can do nothing about.
If they do nothing, the Survivor just runs out the exit.
If they slug, the Survivor crawls out the exit.
If they pick up the Survivor, they get stunned and the Survivor runs out.
In many situations the Killer is forced to interact with the DS user, so just saying "lmao dont tunnel" is incredibly idiotic.

The cap prevents maxing out a character right off the bat. No need to change anything.
But even 1M BP is nowhere near enough to max out a character.
Fully upgrading a character to prestige 3+All perks takes roughly 12 Million BP.
And thats assuming you just go for the cheap stuff and get lucky with good Entity cutoffs.
Nevermind how much it would take if you actually splurge for the good items/addons/offerings.
-
Actually Keys are the equivilant of Moris.
Both are a "end the game early" mechanic.
The only difference is:
Killer: Has to bring in a Mori.
Survivors: Can bring in or keys OR just randomly pull them out of their ass via chests.
-
Its just an annoying and unnecessary mechanic.

Voice Comm advantage is severely overrated.
As many people have pointed out, it's already happening in the game with Discord, but the survival rate is still below 50%, so obviously if anything comms aren't making the game as hard for the killer as most people are making it out to be.
Let me tell you the real truth:
A group of good solo survivors without voice comms will outperform a bad group of SWF using comms.
Can we please stop using comms as the killer go-to boogeyman? The data just doesn't match with the narrative.
"A group of good solo survivors without voice comms will outperform a bad group of SWF using comms."
That is true, but there is nothing stopping good Survivors from using comms too, so your point is utterly worthless. You may as well have said nothing.
Its like saying "5 Blink Nurse is perfectly fair and balanced because sometimes potatoes who dont know how to blink properly and cannot hit anyone play as Nurse"
-
Dying Light is just utterly worthless because it tells the Survivor that they are targeted by it.
You will never get it to activate early enough for it to be worth taking unless the Survivor is dumb as hell.
It needs a rework something like:
Dying Light
-Whenever you hook your Obsession all Survivors recieve a 25% penalty to repair, healing, sabotage, chest search, gate opening, totem cleansing, ect. for 30 seconds
-Whenever you hook your Obsession, your Obsession target is changed to another random Survior
-
Yeah, BP cap should go, or at the very least be massively raised.
-
Ruin is a meme perk that only affects bad survivors lmao.
If anything it needs a major buff.
Learn to hit skillchecks properly.
-
Part of it is ping issues, but there is some weirdness with the hitbox of the pallet as well.
Ive tested it in KYF, you can totally stun the Killer when they are off to the side of the pallet in a lot of places.
-
Survivor: Making a good amount of progress, getting a lot of points.
Killer: Killing all 4 Survivors.
Escaping should be considered a "perfect", it should not be the standard for Survivors.
Escaping should be equivalent to the Killer killing all 4 Survivors without a single generator being completed in terms of difficulty.
-

Right now KYF is a barely-functional husk though and desperatley needs to be updated.
Maybe for the PC version you could even get SteamWorkshop support on it to have modded servers.

I find it unlikely aswell. But they might do the double bp event after the PTB but still before the release. Would be a waste you know.
But launching the live version and double bp at the same time will just increase killer Qs into oblivion
Thats why you dont play Killer to farm BP lol.
During BP events in the time it takes to find and play 1 Killer match you could do 3-4 Survivor matches and get the same amount of BP or more.
-

Already done. They should have both at she same time though.

The issue with "closing the gap between swf & solo" is that so many things would need to be completley redesigned.
-Every Survivor detection perk
-Every stealth/mindgames killer perk
-Every stealth killer's power
-Several other killer powers
-Totems
The Killer's main strength in DBD is causing chaos and disarray in the Survivors.
Voice comms remove that factor by allowing survivors to communicate to each other exactly where the killer is, what the killer is doing, where each survivor is, where totems are, how close to completion generators are, ect, ect.
This severely cripples the killer and strengthens survivors far beyond what the game was originally designed for.
Rebalancing the game with voice comms in mind would essentially require redesigning the entire game from the ground-up.
-
I agree, Exposed never sounded right to me.
Vulnerable would make a lot more sense.
-
Yep, that is one of the big issues with the game. They design and balance the game around not having comms, then just go ahead and let people use comms anyways.
Unfortunatley there is no way to really deal with this other than separating swf to a separate mode or make it an opt-in/opt-out kind of thinng for Killers, both of which I am sure they will never do.
Until then, SWF will continue ruining the game.
-
Unnerving Presence is the worst Killer perk, bar none.
Its not just a weak effect, it HELPS Survivors by giving them more skillchecks.More skillchecks=more perfect skillchecks
More perfect skillchecks = more progress
More progress = faster repair/healing -
That would be nice. I would also like a "Order by character rlease"
Eg: Eg first all the general non-teachable perks, then all of Dwights perks, followed by all 3 of Meg's perks, then Claudette's 3 perks, and so on and so on. -

We are open to suggestions and ideas.
Thank you!
Thanks for replying, I have thought this had needed changing for a long, long time, but only now bothered to make a post about it. Glad to see the team is already doing something about it.

I'd love to see SWFs marked, or filtered out of match making -as an option- for survivors and killers. But this would only lead to neverending queues for people who which are about to play together with their friends, because, obviously, a killer who is able to choose of playing against premade teams, or take the much easier option of playing against solo-survivors, would always chose the latter.
Not if theres a hefty incentive to play vs swfsquads.
I wouldn't mind if playing against them once in a while when I need to farm if there was like either x3 BP multiplier or x2 multiplier+addons/offerings not consumed. -
Anything is better than the hot mess that was the official tournament.

Sure, its technically better, but its still not remotely good.
DBD is better than it used to be, but its still in an awful place. -
@Groget said:
imo it would be very hard to balance SWF in gameplay aspects.
Maybe just hiding the killers perks/addons/offerings until the end of the match would help a littler bit.
Removing SWF would be a step to far, because many people like the opportunity to play together with their friends and also progress with their accounts.
So why, instead of nerving it gameplaywise to death, not increasing the earned bloodpoints for the killer, if playing against SWF?
Just about, I don´t know, maybe 10%?
This would reward killers for playing against SWF, so they get some kind of reparation for their disadvantage.
This would, of course, not balance SWF gameplaywise but it would make SWF more interresting for killers.I already hate playing Killer enough as it is, but a 10% boost is nowhere near enough of a bribe to convince me to torment myself by playing against SWF squads.
-
Yeah, if Spirit doesn't receive some major positive changes, she is going to be another level 40 Killer, IE leveled up just enough to unlock their teachables, then never played or given any bloodpoints again.
-
I think they need to improve the other aspects of it.
Faster Charge-up speed, faster sprint speed, make the roar/insidious screech happen on hit instead of at start of sprint, make Pig more stealthy while crouched (immunity to aura reveal/detection abilities like T1Shape), ect.Just sticking an instadown onto everything doesnt make it good, otherwise Cannibal would be top-tier.

Honestly, I don't think it matters. I have zero issues finding another survivor to heal me. Even back when I did run self care, someone would usually show up mid heal to finish it off faster. Two survivors can heal each other in the same time as they could heal themselves with self care.So if anything, it's base heal speed we're talking about. I could go either way on increasing that.
Its not just the speed thats the factor here, its Survivor grouping and efficentcy.
Self Care
-One Survivor not working on gens
-Can be done anywhere at any time
-Killer only finds 1 SurvivorTeam Heal
-Two or more Survivors not working on gens
-Need to spend time finding and travelling to another Survivor
-Killer can find 2 or more Survivors simultaneouslyIts a world of difference that SC makes.
-
What are you talking about?
Spirit Fury is good, but H:HG and Rancor are mediocre at absolute best.
Meanwhile Deliverance is fantastic and Autodidact is borderline broken.
Distraction right now is useless but will be great for juke/stealth builds if they fix the "explosion" being too far off the ground. -
First off they already tried that, and had to remove it because Survivors exploited it.
Secondly, camping makes the Killer lose, why would you want them to stop?
If they are camping that means they are just sitting on their behind doing nothing while the other 3 Survivors repair gens and escape for free. -
Cool idea, far too weak to be actually usable against anybody with more than 10 hours played.
Harder to play than Nurse, but weaker than Wraith. Not a good combination. -

I'm actually pretty sick of how much the killers seem to whine all of the time. I know the struggles of both survivor and killer. But why do the killer mains seem to have this delusion that the killers are vastly underpowered? For every game that a killer gets looped, and runs into 52 pallets, there are 5 games that the killer kills everyone. If not everyone, 2-3 at least get sacrificed. Only getting 1 survivor or worse none is extremely rare. Call me strange but 2 is a draw, 3 is a victory, and 4 is an absolute victory. I swear you guys only remember your bad games, and expect to kill everyone without fail.Anyways, pallet thing can go imo. However I would rather bloodlust not get nerfed, instead I'd buff it by making it not go away if the person being chased never left the killer radius. As I've been in chases where I could literally see the person I was chasing on screen and bloodlust went away.
The fact of the matter is, it is literally impossible for the Killer to win if the Survivors dont screw up.
Between how fast gens can be done and how long chases can be stalled for it is literally mathematically impossible to win if the survivors are playing properly. There is simply not enough time.
The fact that the Killer side of the game needs to rely on "Hope the other person screws up" is not a sign of a balanced game, it is the opposite.
Killers are absurdly underpowered and cannot win if Survivors are competent and playing to win.The fact that you deny this and your response is "lmao whiny killers" really shows what kind of person you are.
You see I didn't just go lmao whiny killers, I said I'm sick of the whiny killers. An example of this and even being a great youtuber, Tydetime. He will ######### about how hard it is for killers despite almost every game he plays he pretty much kills everyone. Guess what? 4 perfect survivors should beat 1 perfect killer. How often do you play survivors who are perfect? Let me guess, almost never? That's the correct answer. Because humans are not machines, how does a killer get to rank 1? Oh right killing people other wise he will de-rank, or won't rank up. Sure I'll give it to you, if the survivors don't screw up, all are working on gens at the same time, can work through hex ruin, and are perfect at hiding from the killer they mathematically will win. But that does not matter in the slightest. Why? Because randomly you'll bump into a survivor who is trying their best to hide, they will go in for a bad save, they will take a wrong turn letting you hit them. They will accidentally run back to their teammates who are working on a gen and won't realize it, interrupting progress. Name a single perfect person in anything? That's right you can't because that is impossible, even the greatest at anything will mess up.
So bro you are the exact whiny killer guy that I can't stand, the pallets are a bug, the fact that you don't want it changed just proves what kind of player you are. Actually you know, I don't know from that statement alone. Other than I feel like you are an entitled prick who wants free wins. But then again who knows.
The thing is, you dont need to be perfect. You just need to be moderatley competent.
One mistake is nothing, you have to screw up multiple times for the Killer to actually kill you before gens are done.
Furthermore, the number of competent players doesnt matter, its completley irrelevant.
Doesnt matter if it happens in 1% of matches or 200% of matches, the fact that the game allows Survivors to be unbeatable if they are not idiots at all is the problem.
At that point you may as well just remove the killer from the game.As I stated 4 ridiculously good survivors should beat 1 ridiculously good killer. That's something that we might not agree on though. I'm rank 1 on survivor, and rank 5 on killer at the moment. I've had games against the flashlight mob squad, with all using DS before. They felt bad for sure, but that was usually like 1 in 15-20 games. Most of everything else was me just killing people left and right. I use Michael Myers as my killer main. And currently I get tons of hits abusing the current balance system. It will hurt, but I don't really think I should have hit them to begin with. It feels like a bug to me when I get stunned, hit them, and teleport forward at the same time. Like I said I have no issues with the pallet drop getting fixed. My complaint is about bloodlust getting changed.
Absolutley not. Again, if both the Killer and Survivors are "ridiculously good", it should not be an auto-win for the Surviovrs, it should be an even match.
But the thing is, you dont even need to be "ridiculously good" to win as Survivor, you just need to be somewhat competent.
Sure, you can 360 the killer all day and never get hit, but you dont need to.
The game is so forgiving to Survivors that even if the Killer is playing perfectly as possible and the Survivors are making mistakes, chances are the Survivors still win.
Survivors dont need to be ridiculously good or perfect, they just need to not be complete idiots.Dont get me wrong, there are still idiots who die of course, even at high ranks.
Hell, just a few weeks ago me and a David were repairing a generator inside the Killer shack, the Trapper comes up, we both continue to finish the generator since the Trapper isnt actually a threat to us at this second and it would be a waste to leave it at 96%, even the pallet is still unused.
Both me and David see him place a trap at the window so we cant go out that way.
Trapper finishes placing the trap and comes insidem the David decides the best way to escape the trapper is to jump through the window, right into the trap.
This was at rank one.But my point is that if the Survivors CAN be unbeatable and thats a problem, not that every set of Survivors is unbeatable.
I think there is a level of balance between the two. I don't think it's as one sided as people like to make it out to be. There are bad games for both sides. Those are what people remember the most. I'll admit that survivors who know what they are doing especially in a team together talking usually have an advantage, but a lot of the game is luck based. And there are other factors to add in. For example a killer might have some ridiculously overpowered add-on, or an offering. Huntress taking down people in one hit of her hatchet, or the hag instantly being able to teleport to any of her traps with make your choice on. Michael having infinite evil within 3. There are games with the survivor that the killer just face camps you the entire 2 minutes until you die on your first hooking after you spawned right next to him or his hex totem. Sure you can have your teammates gen rush while he camps, but the person on the hook has a ######### time barely getting to do anything that game except get chased and hooked. A lot of those add-ons are really rare, but I think they already make the game unbalanced in the killers favor.
Survivors can be slippery little eels disappearing from view, you getting unlucky and going to the wrong gens being worked on. People body blocking and flashlight squading. It's toxic on both sides, and I don't feel like the balance is that off. But then again that's my experience with the game.
The thing is all those things can be avoided and have downsides.
Hatchets can be dodged (not to mention hitting invisible walls because lol hitboxes), and Huntress gives you plently of warning of "hi Im over here", what with her directional lullaby.
Infinite Evil 3 is much weaker than its made out to be as no competent Survivors will ever let him get Evil 3. By the time he actually gets enough charge the generators are all or mostly done. Even if he does get Evil 3 early, its not like its an ez win either, he still has to go through loops and such and he has no way of countering them.
MYC hag isnt a pro-active strategy its reactive. You cant get MYC if somebody didnt already screw up and get themselves hooked.
If a person is on the hook, its their own fault. There is more than enough ways to avoid getting on the hook.
If they really hate it that much and dont expect to get rescued they can just move onto the next game by killing themselves on the hook.I must not play good survivors as I think the hatchets with the huntress are gigantic and are incredibly easy to land with barely any aim, or guess work from the Huntress. Also as a killer I don't think I've ever gone a game without hooking someone. It's not really hooking someone that's difficult, it's keeping someone hooked while also patrolling generators that is difficult. Which is why I don't actually blame a killer for tunneling like some people like to do, since it's the fastest way to kill someone and get them out of the way. Every game I've had the infinite evil within 3 on I've killed everyone with little difficulty. Actually now that I think about it, I can barely recall any games where a survivor hasn't been hooked, not sure what they could do to avoid it, if the killer doesn't eventually lose them. It's more like they delay the killer from hooking them as long as possible, unless the killer loses track.
Most matches I usually dont get hooked unless I get sandbagged hard, though this is more due to me being good at stealth than being good at chases. IMO its better to learn to play stealth than it is to loop for multiple reason.
1) Not learning to juke killers makes you reliant on pallets, and if somebody else already used them you are screwed
2) Stealth cripples multiple killers, most notably Nurse who doesnt really care about pallets and Shape/Huntress who cant do anything if they cant find you
3) Even if stealth fails you can still use loops as a backup options, but not so much vise-versaLike I said before, not every match has competent players, you will get paired up with people who play bad and get hooked.
If its safe to rescue them, by all means go and help them.
But theres no reason to risk yourself if the Killer has them secure, such as a MYC+MR Hag, or just outright face camping.
Let him die, if he didnt want to die he shouldnt have gotten caught. I expect others to treat me the same if I get caught and the Killer has no intention of ever letting me escape. -

If they really hate it that much and dont expect to get rescued they can just move onto the next game by killing themselves on the hook. -

And so, you prove how clueless you are.
1) Mindgames only work on bad survivors who arent paying attention properly or are just outright bad at the game. Attempting mindgames against attentive, competent survivors just allows them to stall longer.
2) Bad map design often forces pallet breaking, even when it would otherwise be more beneficial to just continue without breaking.
3)Killers do absolutley rely on mistakes. Bad positioning, inefficent generator repairing, bad chase pathing, ect.Thank you for proving my point by being yet another clown just spouting nonsense and saying "lol killer mains".
Especially funny since I am a Survivor main. You might want to look in the mirror for the clueless person because if Tru and others can do it than it can be done. There's even some on this very forum who do it as well and they don't make all the excuses you're doing right now.
Mindgames don't only work on bad survivors, they also work on good survivors as well otherwise no killer would ever hit rank 1.
Bad map design doesn't stop the killer from using their brains and deciding what and which pallets to break and when. Bad killer using bad map design as an excuse for their own poor gameplay is.
Both sides rely on the other side to make mistakes, that's true in every game. But the smart and more experienced players don't rely solely on that. Both sides rely on using their brains during the entire game to do better.
So no thank you for proving my point and the others on ehre who've tried to point out some of the flaws in your post. You say you're a survivor main but post like a killer main. The only one spouting nonsense here is you along with the usual tired insults.
But go ahead, I can post plenty of videos of top tier killers relying on their skills and wits to win games and not depending on survivors to make mistakes. But if you're truly a survivor main then you'd know that already which would suggest you're no survivor main at all.
They absolutley only work on bad survivors. The reason why Killer are able to hit rank one is because you dont need to win to rank up, and not every survivor at high ranks is competent because you dont need to be good at Survivor to rank up either. The ranking system is way to forgiving on both sides of the game.
Bad map designed forces Killers to break certain pallets or they will be used forever.
The fact that there are ANY of these kinds of pallets is proof of bad map design.Survivors do not need to rely on Killers making mistakes at all. The Killer can play perfectly as possible and still lose if the Survivors are playing efficiently and properly.
"Posting like a killer main" and you are saying I am spouting nonsense, lol.

The blood rain and thunder is a really unnecessary cosmetic effect. Plus it would look dumb on the indoor maps.
The death timer is dumb, I dont like it at all. One of my favourite parts of the game is sneaking around repairing generators when I am the only one left and the Killer is desperately searching for me.
Repair speed bonus is unnecessary, theres already a perk that does exactly that.Other than that, not bad.

Leatherface is one of the worst Killers mate. He's not pay to win, he's pay to lose.

Egh, really not a fan of cosmetics at all, with only a few exceptions.
Characters are getting cosmetics that dont fit the character at all and are really just dumb.
We are getting into TF2/MOBA-levels of aesthetic clashing now.Like, theres some good ones, like Welder Trapper, Doctor's suit, ect.
But theres also some really trash ones like Plastic bag Nurse, Candle Wraith, Fortune Teller Claudette, ect. -
Most of those are pretty good, but I think Whispers and Iron Will are strong enough as it is without needing those buffs.
