I do think they knew before this announcement, but not for very long. They'd have made the announcement earlier, especially with a PTB dropping tomorrow (not officially, but y'know).

Thing is, something similar is happening with an SH crossover in another game. That being Dark Deception: Monsters & Mortals. It's a super small game, yet it still managed to land a SH DLC.
However, that DLC is only available for a limited time. Once it's no longer available, only players that own that DLC are able to play as the included characters, and are able to play on the included map.

With the exception of the map, the situation we have right now in DbD is identical. Given this precedent of Konami pulling out of an idie game, and now Netflix pulling out of DbD, what's stopping Konami from pulling out of this one as well?

While I don't think it has been stated specifically, I think Bloodweb progression, and by extension, prestige is going stay for all owned characters.
I sure hope so, anyway.

Though, as iffy I am about the ST inclusion as a whole, I've grown strangely fond of the whole sci-fi aesthetic going on. Even if they do change it into something original, I'll still miss what it once was. The weird noises, the rats in the cages that startle me every time, hell even that weird dropdown catwalk thingy in the portal room.

Some ideas I had with this theme in mind:
Turn the portal room into a recording booth and turn the area leading upstairs into an outside area, with the stairs leading up to a floor of an apartment complex. The top floor then becomes the interior of said complex.
Not sure what to do with the catwalks, though.

Just because it doesn't apply to other licenses now, doesn't mean it never will.

There's 11 licenses in the game by tomorrow. From survivors to killers and their maps, that is a substantial amount of content. Close to half of the entire game's content, even.
Although it can't be said for sure, I think DbD won't last a year without its licenses.

I am fully aware of the FAQ, yes. But by my example, there's precedent of Konami doing this. In my example given, the indie developers are also legally not allowed to share when the DLC will be removed from the store.
I'm just concerned that there's a very real chance that Konami may pull out of DbD down the line as well.

Pinhead hasn't even been announced yet, the hype for him will start back up when the PTB drops tomorrow. If anything, letting Pinhead info go live and THEN announcing the removal of ST would have been way more of a buzzkill.

It's a slow build that at the point of the reveal, hits the climax. Then it drops down. Now with this stinker, the climax can never be as high as it would've been.

Yateveo is a creature present in Resident Evil: Resistance. It is Alex Wesker's bioweapon as a Mastermind. Yateveo is completely immobile, but it can be placed near an objective so that it blocks the Survivor's way to it.1 The Yateveo is an immobile creature which can be used to instantly kill a survivor, stun them, or deal damage from a distance. Though, of course, actually mobile.
As it turns out, it's actually based on an "existing" cryptid, meaning its base concept is free to use.

It will not bring a lot of money, but the costs for creating it are also very very low. Almost just creating three new skins and sounds. All the programming, testing, etc is done.
They will announce this later, because first they want everyone to buy Demo because of FOMO (fear of missing out). And if someone didn't buy it, they will still be able to buy the clone version.
Again, I hate to dash your hopes, but you really need to stop with the "They will do this" wording. We simply don't know if they will. They may very well not.
Also, what you're suggesting requires:
New models (for the character, and their portals)
New animations (walk and carry loop; basic interactions; attack hit, whiff and hit obstacle; mori; etc. AND from both perspectives.)
New voice clips
New misc. sounds
New lore (yes, this matters)
New add-on names, descriptions and flavour text (yes, this matters too)
That all combined is not cheap.

Regarding 7, I hope they're removed from the menu entirely for those that don't have them. Being constantly taunted with characters that you cannot ever own seems really anti-consumer.

I doubt Behaviour did anything to piss them off, it’s most likely Netflix wanting more money. I’d be surprised if they care about performance, they just have a new season of Stranger Things coming so they want to milk their IP before it inevitably ends or loses popularity.

Teachable perks for Steve, Nancy, and The Demogorgon will remain available to earn on those characters for players who own them, with new versions of these teachables being made available in the Shrine of Secrets to all players. Any player who has already earned a teachable perk will continue to have it available to learn on their other characters.
Does this apply to all platforms, including mobile?
Yes, this applies to all platforms and mobile.
For Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, Stadia, Nintendo Switch as well as Dead by Daylight Mobile: Stranger Things content won’t be available for purchase after November 17th at 2 PM EST.
Will I be able to stream /play with Stranger Things characters?
Stranger Things content downloaded before November 17th at 2 PM EST, with the exception of the Map, will remain available for players, streamers and influencers alike.
