I guess your fundamentals are just too strong.
Only wish they were.
I couldn't tell the whole story in that comment because it would spoil the fun, but as a matter of fact they threw this match. Because when the Nea was about to get hooked for the last time, all of them showed up to bodyblock.
And that resulted in 2 survivors down.
Things just snowballed from there. They did manage to complete the last generator, but it was already too late.

Unless trapper and freddy are actually op in their current state
Of course they are. Can a non-OP killer do what I just did:
4k on GoJ, clearly OP.
/s
All jokes aside, it is interesting how a discussion completely changes depending on which killer each participant mains.

The cosmetics weren't worth losing everything for many. It didn't become a big deal until they anounced the new system that many grinded to P3.
It's the risk of giving something that everyone would want to have. Something that casual players would feel was unattainable to them. The flip side, if the Devs do give something that's inconsequential you will have those like OP that demand more. Just like the P3 days where some wanted more than bloody cosmetics.
Still unhappy that my first prestige cost me my last Splinter, that I'll tell ya.
I don't think this change should have been implemented, to be honest. Keeping your stuff and unlocking perks for everyone is okay, but forcing a journey to P100? That is way too much.
Every killer that plays consistently will reach P100 eventually, it is merely a matter of time, because otherwise they can't get more add-ons. I don't think this is okay.

I guess it more depends on what new things are coming out (sorry to say)
I haven't played Freddie since his re-work so I'm at a loss on what could change other then saying to revert him back to his old self
I haven't played Freddie since his re-work so I'm at a loss on what could change other then saying to revert him back to his old self
But you got it right, my friend, because that is exactly what should be done.
Preferably with QoL improvements, because that is what the majority wants. Though I can tell ya that if he were to come back exactly as he was I would still love him.
-
What is the usefulness of it as a game mechanic?
I think there isn't one.
-
Wouldn't that make it worse?

They've said before that they intended P100 to just be a personal goal. IIRC they felt if they attached a reward to it then it gives the playerbase the idea that it's a required achievement.
I don't think there should be a reward for P100, but I don't really understand this argument.
Some players never bothered to go all the way to P3 and that actually gave you a reward. I wonder why would they think P100 is any different.

Im so sorry to play that card, but against the teams i go against, when im playing Freddy, im losing 2 to 3 gens for my first down. Thats an m1 killer against map offerings for you.
Use Corrupt Intervention on him, it helps.

That’s very kind of you. I know I’m a huge fan of horror and DBD attracts many of us for different reasons. I believe that most of us want it to be the best game it can be. This game inspires a lot of passion from our love of the game to the intensity of the matches.
I love this game and really don’t want to see Freddy being left behind.
It is the least I can do, my friend.
July of 2019 was a long time ago, and I've wanted my killer back ever since. Every support is extremely appreciated <3

Mold Breaker
An unstable connection with the Entity unlocks unconventional abilities.
When the first Generator is completed, Mold Breaker activates:
-Press the Active Ability button when next to a completed Generator to revert it to is previous state
-Additionally, all Generators not being repaired by Survivors when Mold Breaker is used are blocked by The Entity for the next 11 / 13 / 15 seconds.
"Unexpected tactic, but not unwelcome"
I should have added that it can only be used once per trial.

Mind you, that's not a bad idea...
There is some food for thought here. I wonder what the perk's effect would be.

Hopefully it is okay, but I would like to leave a little note on this thread.
I would like to thank you, OP for creating it and thank everyone who, be it here or anywhere else, supports Old Freddy's return to the game.
This is a topic I feel strongly about, it is the one thing that matters most to me in this game, and it warms my heart to see the support this campaign has received.
Know that I appreciate each and every one of you, and I hope you will all be as happy as I will be when I finally say: mission accomplished.
So, from the bottom of my heart:
Thank you <3

I don't run it too often as Killer, but I do like it. As Krazzik mentioned, oftentimes a Survivor will wait until after another Survivor is hooked to open the door, or wait until any teammates still in the match are safe. BUT..... often isn't always, and I've actually gotten value with it quite often in Killer matches that make it to all the gens completed!
As Survivor, I don't mind it really, as I am usually the aforementioned Survivor that takes those precautions... except when I don't or forget 😅 and like rain on your wedding day, I find myself face to face with the Blood Warden block and I just facepalm myself from the irony and laugh because that was on me lol
That happened to me as survivor during the Moonrise event.
I was playing against Freddy and I admit I was getting a bit cocky. He is my main, I know how Freddys play, surely I would be able to read him like a book.
Well... until Blood Warden happened.

In all honesty, Freddy could never be as cool as Trapper. I mean, his name is Fred. Know any cool Freds? Well, aside from Drop Dead Fred.
Freddy does deserve a rework though. One of the more iconic killers, he should be much better. Better than even @GeneralV could imagine. Its true!
I honestly don't need anything too fancy, my friend. I just want my killer back.
-
Yes, my friend, it sure is.
I know you didn't like how he was replaced by something else entirely, and it is a feeling most of us share. It has been a long dance since July of 2019, and we need that killer back.
-
Used to be better before EGC was introduced, because everyone would open doors immediately so if you played your cards right this perk had guaranteed value.
But right now? It is still a good perk, but far more difficult to use, at least in my experience. I rarely see it these days.

If you say so, i want to believe.
Well, DS discourages tunneling and BBQ with its bloodpoint gains encouraged the killer to hook everyone at least once.
Sure, they cannot force every single player out there to avoid tunneling, but the situation was far better with those perks around.

True. Things can change but not disappear. Im curious though. What would happen if a characters cosmetic if used for harassment just like Bubbas masks where used for awful behaviour. Will the base cosmetic be changed? Will the character be removed? Its really interesting to be honest.
The cosmetic will be removed, just like Bubba's masks when they were used for racism.

I LOVED the pre-rework Freddy. I also loved release week Freddy. That was when you could string together putting survivors to sleep and it was only 5 seconds I believe. He lasted all of one week before the very loud minority became too much to ignore.
Anyway, I had so much fun sneaking around. Survivors couldn't see him and the lullaby wasn't directional. I "lost" a lot of matches just running around putting people to sleep and chasing them off generators. It was also fun tracking them with the aura reading from a distance. Original Freddy was just fun to play and I was entertained.
This is what I like to read!
Sadly I wasn't here for his release, only joined in 2018. But he was the very first killer I played and definitely my favorite thing DBD had to offer! I miss my favorite killer so much and I desperately want him to return.
It is the reason I joined the Forums, actually.

Lack effort??? There’s no effort to show against her. The “counterplay” you suggested is losing distance while SM is still mindlessly walking.
And those other killers you mentioned, at least they all have to aim and have decent timing. SM doesn’t need anything like that.
Removing her from the game is the only solution.
@radiantHero23 is absolutely correct, my friend, removing content people paid for is not going to happen.
At least not the entire content. Doctor, for example, had his Treatment Mode removed. It is not something that can be accessed anymore. But the character is still in the game.
The same goes for Skull Merchant. Removal of the character is not going to happen, the most extreme thing that can happen is another Freddy treatment.

As terrible as keys were there are some things I miss about them, mainly when keys were good plunder builds were actually viable. You could play like normal and if the match went badly start plundering and have a decent chance of finding a key and start looking for hatch, it truly felt like an alternative objective and it was fun.
What we have now but part of me still wonders if some middle ground isn't possible and hatch can spawn at two survivors closed and open at one survivor left. Although you'd probably have to get rid of blueprints in that scenario and they'd never do that.
but part of me still wonders if some middle ground isn't possible
It always is, my friend. There is a list of things that genuinely had to be changed entirely, but that list is extremely short.

Public opinion? Yeah, overall she is still disliked.
Though my last two trials against her had no DCs, so I guess the situation is getting better.

I think it fit better back when it was a game of hide and seek.
It is an opinion, but I think they still fit. Fear of the killer is an important aspect of the game, and for some players moris helped with that.

Franklin's didn't work if the survivor was smart, all you had to do was at the start of the match put the key down on the ground somewhere and leave it there until it was time to use it.
You could tunnel the survivor who brought the key, but unless they brought a white ward and died with it in their hand (which removed the item from the match to give it back to them), you couldn't prevent someone else from picking it up after they died. So there was still a key in the game even after you killed them.
Luckily I never actually had to experience the old moris, I started playing not long after they were removed.
The 0 hook moris I didn't get to experience, but the 1 hook moris weren't that bad. There was a certain fear they provided, an apprehension: because if you got caught again, you were dead. Fitting for a game where you should fear the killer.
Well, at least in my experience. But I know they weren't for everyone. Some just found them annoying.
-
Seems to me she can only do the standard 3 gen which every killer can do. Haven't seen one of them go for a 3 gen immediately.

as long as it rarely ever matters sure. Some people are saying that's not the case but we'll see once it hits live and isn't in the mess that is the PTB.
If it hits live exactly the way it is on the PTB, we shouldn't have problems. But we have to wait and see.

Or when they had the validation thing going on with DH. That was bad. You'd see the hit, hear the scream, see the blood, and go to pick up, and the surv was gone.
Also terrible, yes.
Hopefully there won't be another validation in the future to cause even more frustration.

Survivors just ignore the mechanic entirely by just 99ing the gates, which is complained about.
Whose going to complain about a mechanic they can choose to ignore and that rarely ever matters?
Whose going to complain about a mechanic they can choose to ignore and that rarely ever matters?
Then we should not see many complaints about the new anti 3-gen mechanic. Hopefully that will be the case.
-
If you think this is bad, you should have seen the patch they introduced a "validation" when being hit through a pallet.
I swear to ya: I hit a David with Leatherface's chainsaw, I heard his screaming, I saw the blood... and he walked away as if nothing had happened. Frustrating to the extreme.
-
@Thusly_Boned said:
Having multiple survs escape when you were winning, especially when trying to play the "right" way (i.e. spreading hooks) felt bad, man.
Also remember the bad things the old key/hatch system encouraged (lots of Franklin's, tunneling out anyone with key in lobby, etc).
If this was brought back, I'd want one hook (or no hook) moris also brought back to balance that out. Alternative paths to victory and all that.
Keys and moris are alternative paths to victory indeed, and they are like Sun and Moon.
Can't bring back one without bringing back the other.
-
No reason not to. I support this idea.

If I played nice the entire game, I think I should get some form of reward from the game. Otherwise what discourages me from tunneling the entire game?
Nothing but the knowledge that tunneling is frowned upon.
For some players that is enough. For others it isn't, hence the sheer wave of tunneling we're currently seeing.
Also the reason we need 5 seconds DS back.

I don't think it was fun to get punished when you played nice the entire match.
It isn't a punishment. Playing nice the entire match didn't make you entitled to a kill at the end.
Choosing to tunnel at the end of the game was the same as choosing to accept the risk of Decisive Strike. It was natural.

Some are decrying this yet to be released feature as a nerf to their play style. Others, who perceive this yet to be released feature as a stability tool to their side, are going to push back against that. Perhaps it’s tribalism, but maybe it’s just that both sides dislike the idea of being limited by in-game mechanics.
But then most players would hate the EGC, wouldn't they?
It tremendously limits the potential of interesting plays happening after the gates are opened, because it added a timer, and yet disliking the EGC is an extremely unpopular opinion.

Yep. While Ranks were not perfect, they never felt that frustrating as MMR feels.
Also, working towards getting Rank 1 on both sides was far more engaging than getting to Iri 1 with Grades. (Especially since you dont see your grades anymore in the Lobby, you have to do an extra Click to see your grades)
My thoughts exactly.
I'm honestly surprised both MMR and the grades were actually implemented into the game, especially after all that negative feedback they received.

I did, actually! Here was my writeup: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/384363/fixing-the-skull-merchant#latest
Though, for the record, I'm mostly fine with the new rework. I don't think it has all the same strengths as her old design, but it maintains the strongest/most straightforward method of playing old Skull Merchant while being much much healthier. I'd have preferred to see something more along the lines of what I proposed, of course, but I don't blame BHVR for playing it safe and shifting her further away.
I like your idea, my friend! You came up with a good concept, I'd definitely prefer it over what we actually got.

Whiel this would be simple, it would still not be good. Is the Meghead, who decided to use 5 Pallets in her first Chase, turning half of the map into a Deadzone really better than the Ace, who gets downed quickly in said deadzone, because he wanted to get rid of the Gen in it?
Not saying that Escapes and Kills are a good indicator of Skill. In an extreme case one person can occupy the Killer for 5 Gens and gets downed to NOED and is the only person to die, yet they are the only one losing MMR. This is bad.
But BHVR went with the simple system because it is not really possible to make it accurate. It would have to factor in many things like the Map, the Killer played, the Perks and Add Ons used. And probably many more things.
IMO BHVR should just bring back the Ranking System with a hard Rank Reset. Back in the day getting reset from Rank 1 to Rank 11 was actually the best, because while everyone probably ended up at Rank 1, the better you were, the faster you ranked up and the better were your matches. Back in the day the Matches were great for 3 weeks and in week 4 you noticed that the worse players managed to reach Rank 1.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3629991#Comment_3629991
To be fair, the last Chapter only had a Killer and nothing for Survivors. And in the Survivor-only paragraph, there is also not really anything for Survivor. Sure, the Anti-3-Gen, but this is a) generous and b) more like game health than anything else. And yeah, Alan Wake releases, but the Perks are bad and in the end, he is only a Skin.
So after a full chapter with only stuff for Killers, it is understandable that Survivors feel a bit left out. (Let alone that after MfT, which was the first good Perk for quite some time, there was nothing new since Ellens Perks were also bad, while Killers got two strong and fun Killers and good Perks with them).
IMO BHVR should just bring back the Ranking System with a hard Rank Reset.
I agree completely.
Ranks weren't perfect, but they were far better than anything MMR has to offer.
-
You can use Beast of Prey if the red stain is something you want to get rid of.

Huntress is a killer I'm terrible with, but I took her all the way to P3-50 and had fun, even if I lost most of my trials.
