Nope. The 4% is an important mechanic that shouldn't be touched.
The correct thing to do would be to understand why people want to leave trials prematurely and fix things.
-
Nah, it was way too overpowered.
What they need to do is buff Self-Care back to meta levels, because that one affects one survivor. It is not one perk that affects the entire team like COH did.

@Yippiekiyah said:
The took a sledgehammer to one of the only good chase perks so killers will just stack more slowdown.
Enduring, Brutal Strength and Spirit Fury are pretty good perks. STBFL was unnecessarily nerfed, but I think some players will still use it.
Four gen slowdowns isn't necessary. The killer can do it, yes, but they don't have to.

I agree this is the probably the best incentive to not tunnel we've ever gotten. Better than old barbecue in my opinion.
Nothing beats Old BBQ, in my opinion.
But Grim Embrace is definitely going up to the meta. Not sure if I even have this perk, I gotta check that first.
-
Whatever happened, it is much appreciated.
Two great mistakes, Billy's nerf and Onryo's rework, got fixed in a single patch and that is awesome!
The willingness to revert things is finally here, and I sincerely hope the treatment extends to Freddy.
-
Yes, it is.
The PTB doesn't collect data regarding your progress from the day before, it is taken from way earlier. If you go back to the live servers, everything will be normal.
-
@Beatricks makes a very good point here.
It is not just about the licenses, it is the game around them. That isn't to say the licenses themselves don't play a part in this, of course they do, and as matter of fact each license was treated differently and it impacts the hype: Alien was very poorly implemented, Halloween was an outstanding addition that essentially guaranteed the game's success, and A Nightmare on Elm Street was flawless on release but suffered with unnecessary changes afterwards.
However, there is a bit more to it.
Trying to do what Super Smash Bros did but with horror isn't a bad thing, as long as the game itself is enjoyable. Now, it is no secret that I'm very biased towards the past in this game, but surely everyone has seen the number and nature of complaints recently seen here and on other sources. Overall, many members of this community are dissatisfied with the current state of the game, and that current state of the game is where those licenses are.
They cannot do it alone, it is simply not possible.

You raise a very good point the OP doesn't state you wake up as a survivor.
But the question says "you" wake up in the entity's' realm, people tend to identify with the protagonist role moreso than the antagonist role thus come at the question from a survival perspective rather than a killer one.
It does speak to the general concept of humanity. Deep down the majority adhere to a general moral concept of good and a desire to be the hero of our own story rather than the villain.
An interesting thought that has me disappointed now that I never considered waking up as the killer lol, does that make me a decent person... dang it.
I don't know if the pain endurance is that different between the two though as most of the killer roster are a collection of mutilated and tortured souls.
From my understanding of the lore, killers do not suffer unless they are unwilling to participate in the trials.
However, survivors are constantly tortured to death over and over again. Yes, they have an overall increased resistance to pain but every injury on a trial would still hurt and it would hurt a lot.
I sure wouldn't choose the option of endless torture.

Sadako and Amanda right up there makes me happy. ❤️🐽❤️
With the exception of Ghostafce, I like killers who are a bit more silent on their approach.
Old Freddy, Myers, Pig, Wraith... I believe they are fun and help keep what little we still have of the horror atmosphere alive.

Do you want old DS, old insta heals and med kits, old BNPs, old dead hard, the old perk grinding system etc back again?
Clearly they don't, as the post itself states "redo everything".
Which is where the problem lies, in my opinion, as not everything has to be redone. Few things are better today, many things were better in the past.
They have to be adjusted accordingly.

As a big NoES fan, I don't wanna get hopes up or start spreading rumours or anything... but with the strength of recent acquisitions by BHVR, I low key suspect the reason Freddy is off the radar is BHVR are hoping to secure the real Freddy Kruegar...
BHVR isnt a small fledgling game developer anymore like they were when they originally acquired Freddy, they had to take the new version or nothing in their original agreement... but they actually have some real money and clout behind them now...
With all their recent game updates, you can bet they have heard us, and I suspect they have something big cooking for Freddy...
I wouldn't mind if they got the rights for a Robert Englund cosmetic, but honestly I prefer the remake over the original movies.
My hope is directed entirely to his power. I desperately want him back.

It wasn't DS.
I think this is a case of "if we remove overheat from billy, he'll be good again." He won't.
Even if DS went back to 5 seconds with no timer, it wouldn't be a deterrent. Maps aren't the same, items aren't the same, movement is different, perks are different, players skill is higher, the game more competitive etc etc
It wouldn't hurt, but DS isn't why there was less tunneling. It is merely a small piece of a larger system.
I agree completely.
But it is better with DS than without. And we gotta start somewhere.

As much as I hate the swamp I'd have to say it has some decent totem spots and it proves your point
It does, especially on Pale Rose.
They are usually hidden by the edges of the map, between trees and rocks and they can be difficult to spot. Leagues ahead of many other realms after their reworks.

I agree, Freddy's old iteration would actually fare much better in todays meta when you consider the built in slowdown and information, which weren't as valued back in the day.
Of course it can't be a 1 to 1 port as he still had his issues, but at least he'd be unique
Well said, my friend!
I know we don't always agree on what should or shouldn't be brought back to this game, but I appreciate your support for Freddy, that means a lot to me.
-
Because of MMR. This was done to prevent you from selecting a killer that you're bad with, find a group of survivors with lower MMR, then switching to your main for an easy game.
-
This is what I hope for.
If Sadako got it, why not Freddy?
We need our killer back.

Yeah, I’m super intrigued if the game could or would ever be able to get close to that early vibe it had. It’s like trying to get the same euphoric feeling from bungee jumping to base jumping to skydiving n so on… super exciting thinking about it, tho most likely jus wishful thinking.
I believe it could and still can, if more emphasis is given towards the horror atmosphere and overall feeling of the game.
EDIT: It is never too late to revert things and bring the old game back.
-
@Xyvielia said:
I vibe with you… not all of it, for sure, though I completely understand it all, and definitely had the best, most fun experience playing DBD back in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
I’ve seen many similar posts over the years (not nearly as generous in length😄🙃) and I’m sure you know that the majority of those who would respond to you here on these official Forums will not agree with you or post anything pleasant for you to read, overall, for what you’ve written.
I will say tho, that the GenDisc population isn’t nearly the majority vibe of all Dead by Daylight players, although the group here is a good sample size, and so much moreso a great community of resourceful minds and pleasant personalities to engage with.
So fwiw, I’m happy you at least got some enjoyment out of DBD, however short lived the peak of the exhilaration May have been.
and definitely had the best, most fun experience playing DBD back in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
I agree completely. Back then, the game was fun.
-
Your post is very long, my friend, and there is a lot to impact here.
Some of the things you've said I agree with. I too remember fondly the game I fell in love with back in 2018, and just how amazing it was. The maps, atmosphere, perks, powers, my beloved Old Freddy and many other things. That was a game that I truly enjoyed and I know how terrible it felt to lose it piece by piece.
Some I do not agree with. The DH nerf I believe was a good thing, and so was the implementation of crossplay. Nonetheless, this is natural. There are always disagreements when opinions are expressed.
Then, for the actual suggestion...
It is not uncommon to see those who say 2019 DBD was the most fun this game has ever been. The game's peak. This is a valid opinion, of course. I can see the arguments for it as long as it refers to anything before patch 3.1.0, because that one I cannot stand.
However, your suggestion says to:
redo every single perk, addon, item at the same time
And that I don't think I agree with. There is a very small list of things that are better now, and there is a giant list of things that were better back then. If everything is to be redone, then I fear good things will be lost.
-
If the changes are good, then I am really happy for you Onryo mains out there.
You did it. You got your killer back. You did with your killer what I need to do with mine.
-
I'm really, really happy with the changes to Onryo and Hillbilly.
We still need to take a look at Billy's add-ons, but overheat is something that should have never been implemented and I'm glad it is gone now. No one will miss it.
As for the Onryo, it seems her mains are very satisfied with her changes. And what really interests me is how they did.
Restoring a killer's old kit with improvements isn't just a step in the right direction, it is a massive jump in the right direction! And this is giving me more and more hope for Freddy.
Overall, this update is great.
-
people will simply tunnel the first target they down asap.
But this is already happening. It won't change because of regression events.
Only DS can fix this situation.
-
This will barely have an impact on normal gameplay. Killers are unlikely to kick the same generator 8 times.

True.
The correct nerf would have been to nerf it's camping capabilities.
The chase part was absolutely fine.
I think the perk didn't need a nerf, but thankfully it wasn't a devastating change.

In that case:
We'd move nemi and wesker up as that was a more widely known icon and wesker had an impact of adding another very commonly seen killer.
We agree placing Freddy there but more for the reason that he added something extremely unique to the game, especially at the time. If not a good reason then he'd follow the below logic.
Pig, bubba, and Xeno would all be in the same category (we can't agree where but we agree together) as they're all horror icons, but don't add any serious impact (mostly, dout any general horror fans will recognize Amanda on the spot, but many would recognize the beartraps or Billy on a box).
We can agree not many will know Sadako by name but many horror fans would probably recognize her as the "long haired ghost girl". Make of that as ya will.
We agree placing Freddy there but more for the reason that he added something extremely unique to the game, especially at the time.
Indeed. And the ANOES chapter also attracted players to the game, especially before Freddy's first nerf.
I myself only bought the game because Freddy is here.
-
Halloween did indeed give a huge boost to this game. Hard to imagine where we would be without it.
-
Now when someonebody unhooks and its obsession... why the hell would you go for the obsession since you can't even touch them? Yea...
That already was the strategy with this perk. There is no reason for you to chase the obsession if you are using STBFL, unless you want to avoid tunneling.
The nerf will have no impact on this matter.
-
I think STBFL didn't need a nerf, regardless of which killers will actually be affected by it.
-
There is nothing to mourn, he is still good. Only his add-ons got changed, basekit remains the same.

I honestly don't think swamp could get worse so I think in this case, it'll do the map a favor. It did Ormond one, at least.
The rest, ya, balance wise they just added some awful breakable walls to maps that did not need them at all.
Swamp's gameplay I think is okay. I have a bigger problem with the graphics changing.
Ya know me, my friend, I prefer the older style of the game. But I am not complaining this time, because it seems I'll be keeping Swamp for a little bit longer.
-
I'm surprised everyone here came up with survivor perks. Because being a survivor means you have to endure an insane amount of pain every single trial (seriously, can you imagine how much it would hurt to be hooked? Chainsawed?).
I wouldn't want to go through that.

I take it you are here for the Hillbilly changes? Finally a good thing happening, eh?
And I sure hope you're correct and Swamp remains immortal. It is the only realm I have left. Don't want to lose it.

While I haven’t played in a long while (just after skull merchant dropped) it’s been my experience that Wraiths are probably the tunneliest, sweatiest killers around. The second they hear the unhook notification, they just drop chase and rush back to the hook.
Interesting. I'll say my first ever face-camp was done by a Wraith on Old Ormond, but after years on this game I'd say he was an exception to the rule.
Blights are the sweatiest around, at least in my experience.
-
I'll quickly point out the bad first, because I didn't think STBFL needed a nerf.
But overall? There is some good stuff here!
Blight's busted add-ons are finally adjusted, and it doesn't seem like Ormond will get the "Rancid Abattoir" treatment. Ruin is a step in the right direction I'd say, though the perk still needs buffs.
The 3-gen solution is kinda what I thought it would be, but I'm glad they adjusted gen-tapping together with it. This might actually work.
As for Overheat:
Never again.
However, Onryo's changes are the ones to pay attention to. I'm happy for all the Onryo mains who got their killer back, hopefully she will receive no further reworks and you will be able to enjoy her.
This gives me a lot of hope for Freddy. Especially considering they said:
many longtime Onryo mains felt that her gameplay had changed too much from the Killer they once loved.
There is a certain Dream Demon who has suffered the same, BHVR. Please, keep him in mind.

-
There seems to be an overall increase in the amount of cheaters recently, judging by the complaints here on the Forums.
I think I might have played against one earlier today, but I am not sure. It could have been a glitch but there was one particular survivor in the trial who didn't leave scratch marks at all, without any perks that have that effect being into play.
I honestly don't count trials against cheaters as defeats. There isn't really much you can do.

- Not everyone who plays Demo is a Demo main.
- Not everyone plays the same, some people dont tunnel, some people do tunnel, etc, it happens with literally any Killer, this obviously applies to Demo which results in people tunneling.
A wise answer.
In all seriousness though, I actually see a lot of Demogorgons tunneling people. More than most killers.
