What are you talking about? This killer is so weak, it aint even funny. What a failure of an interesting concept. Any survivor worth their salt will be dancing on the Houndmasters grave.
To be fair, my friend, a character can be both weak and unfun to go against at the same time. They are not mutually exclusive.
Houndmaster just feels like a slightly less obnoxious Cenobite, in my opinion, and even if you escape every time the match won't be interactive at all.
-
@Dwight_Fairfield Your thoughts, friend?
-
I think it is a bit early to tell how strong she actually is, but she doesn't seem fun to go against.
Kinda feels like a slightly less obnoxious Cenobite.

you guys have no idea what it was like back in 2018 when you left a match with an average of 15,000 to 20,000 BP.
In comparison, we are still drowning in blood points after this change.Laughs in BBQ and WGLF.

that red background looks amazing!! Very epic!
It does!
The Blood Moon event had probably one of the best backgrounds ever.
-
As I've said on a different thread, I believe all of her recent nerfs should be reverted. All of them.
It is clear at this point that the petty DCs and hook suicides will not stop regardless of how weak she is. So we might as well leave her playable until the rework next year.
-
The removal of the BP bonus is really unnecessary.

For those who really dislike map offerings, this is a good change.

Im the opposite and much prefer it this way since it makes more build varieties and things much more exciting.
Id much rather be surprised by a MoM proc or get bamboozled by Deception or Diversion than seeing some one DS me "unexpectedly" or take off with Sprint Burst.
That being said Shoulder the Burden is still very likely going to be meta, but we'll just have to wait and see
Yeah, I am much more of a "DS + UB every game" person myself.
-
Well, here is a perk I absolutely despise.
Both Chemical Trap and Blast Mine, now that I think about it.
Waiting for the effect to dissipate isn't always possible. Realistically the best and only counterplay against both of those perks is playing Knight, which is kinda ridiculous when you think about it.

Shattered compass is literally the definition of synergy. Making more scourge hooks will buff every scourge hook perk.
If you use them, that is.
I usually don't. Except for Pain Res, but I am not using Pain Res all the time.

I gave up on new perks. It seems to me like the devs don’t want to introduce new strong perks for survivors (and killers). The best we can get are okayish perks.
This.
It seems to me that the idea nowadays is to make every survivor perk equally mediocre, so you can run whatever you choose to run and not feel the difference.
And I really don't like it.

The healing perk is gonna be the 4th infinity stone for doctor players. *shiver*
Not strong enough, in my opinion. And none of them have any synergy whatsoever with my usual builds.
Yeah, I'm skipping this chapter. I was expecting a buff for Shoulder the Burden, actually.

It equals fairplay killers with the ones that go full in.
i mean, i wouldnt mind if devs removed the exposed effect if they also nerfed the perk's late/midgame potential to deny kills at the point of the match where it makes sense to go for it, but for now I'd rather it have at least placebo limitations.
But that is the point of the perk. Delay another survivor's death.
The downside is not needed.

Well, Bloodpoints have always been a hell of a good incentive.

The exposed downside is such a nothingburger complaint.
All it does is just making it so the killer can still trade if they werent camping ultra hard.
Otherwise it's irrelevant - if the killer was far enough, you'll wait out 20 seconds of exposed easily, if they were close enough to trade normally, they'd trade either way because you'd be unhooking after being hit.
If you think they should remove it because it's going to be a reason this perk would result in thrown games, then you should look into the fact it can be used while you have 1 stage already which results into a person basically killing themselves with the perk instead of guaranteeing the killer has to go through 2 more chases to get a kill.
It is still unnecessary and should not be a thing, imo.

If you played allot you should have more cakes as the bloodweb gives you like 2 - 3 and sometimes 4 in 1 level on killer. But i also cannot say what playing allot is for certain people depending on work/family etc.. I always take the most optimal path in rifts so i can save my bloodpoints for the anniversary.
I saved up this anniversary about 7mil bp over the year from various tomes and dumped them all on 1 character. if you then save 2 mil when anniversary hits you have like me 9 mil to spend. 9mil is around 7 prestiges and 7 prestiges are like 300 - 350 cakes on surv or about 600 on killer i think.I dont know how many cakes/streamers you want but i am wondering how long your playing this game because after leveling everything to 3 the grind is basicly over… There is no use in a prestige 100 besides maybe "liking" the character more then others.
I have posted this in another thread so ill do it again here.I do not want to be annoying about it but how can it go any faster? I just looked up the dates to be shure.
(These events last atleast 7 days)
For only 2024 :
16/01/2024 - x2 Bp
21/02/2024 - x1,5 Bp
18/03/2024 - x4 - x5 Bp (bloodmoon event)
14/05/2024 - x3 bp
03/06/2024 - x2 bp
13/06/2024 - Farming cakes for 3 weeks (100% anniversary cake)
05/09/2024 - x2 bp
24/09/2024 - x3 bp
17/10/2024 - halloween event item +100% bp
Winter event is coming soonEvery month you can get 2 mil bp if killer and survivor is rank 1
On top of all the codes we get, free gift in store every week and not talking about logging in bonuses with events? How fast you want to get bloodpoints? We have been so spoiled this year with bloodpoints its ridiculous. Enjoy the game and enjoy the grind. Because after you have everything P3 you basicly do not need bloodpoints anymore.
Ow yeah i forgot the 20 tomes you can complete with 4 levels of challenges rewarding you with BP as well. Thats around 2mil BP some more some less per tome depending on the characters you have.
The last 2 or maybe 3 rifts also give about 400k bp just for playing?
Not talking about the little event tomes we get in between all the stuff like 2v8 or lights out…
100% extra for que depending on what the game needs.Just enjoy the grind and have fun if you want bloodpoints for a p100 let me remind you there is nothin a p100 gets… After P9 you stop getting rewards.
To be fair, I did use them a lot during that event. But I never seem to reach the extreme amount of anniversary offerings some people have.
Maybe next year.

I'm kind of confused by survivors hating killer's aura reading abilities as much as they do. Survivors often say that the most enjoyable part of DBD is the chase. Looping, mindgames, cat and mouse, that sort of thing. Auras reading abilities help killers find survivors and that leads to the chase. Is that not what survivors want?
Plus, aura reading on stealth killers is pretty mush the only time that DBD, a horror game, feels scary. Why would anyone want to remove one of the few times a killer can literally scare a survivor player?

Oh, definitely not.
The best part of DBD is, by far, hide and seek. Hiding from the monster trying to find you is what makes DBD fun, as a survivor.
Aura reading was perfectly fine in the past because it didn't have as many triggers as it currently has. All you had to worry about was BBQ, A Nurse's Calling, Bitter Murmur, a few add-ons here and there and Freddy who had it basekit. That was it, and it was perfect.
Now we have WAY too much of it. Basically everything you do reveals your aura, even just starting the match if the killer has Lethal Pursuer. Having the Revealed status effect available would help mitigate that, because at least it tells you your current attempt of hiding isn't working, so you need to either try something else or, sadly, change your playstyle.
-
They never were a problem, in my opinion.
Sure, some perks were a bit too strong and needed changes, but it has always been okay to have a meta in DBD. it is very hard to make every perk equal in terms of strength and impact, some of them will always be better than others and I think that is okay.
Though I'm not really a fan of what we ended up with, killer meta in particular. Nothing will ever be as fun and healthy for the game as Ruin + BBQ was.

I think because it’s the end of the year before everyone goes on holiday. Maybe they released it early so they can enjoy their holidays before January hits for mid chapter and Freddy’s rework.
Those are my thoughts. Although I am very excited for this chapter personally. I am looking forward to hearing the developer update to see the tweaks made from the ptb to live.
Hopefully today!🥰
Yes, my friend, hopefully we will get the dev update soon.
I am really curious about Shoulder the Burden. That perk will be the reason for me to buy Taurie, if they buff it.
-
Well, after rewatching the Scream franchise recently, I would like to have more of its content in DBD.
A new survivor, preferably Sidney or Tara, would be a good start.

I rarely get any bps either but as already stated so many green offerings & items / powers / extras its probablyto be expected, removing map offerings would help massively with multiple issues but thats an entirely different conversation & not going to happen anytime soon.
Plus in all honesty whenever I play bps or cakes everyone else almost always uses solo cakes / survivor puddings either they don't have anything or its the screw them only about me mentality a lot of players in this game have.
No issue with what others use by the way, I just find it funny especially around anniversary when players post screenshots with thousands of cakes & here in my games lucky to get 2 😂

Still have no idea how they do that, to be honest. I played a lot during the fifth anniversary and I only have, like, 20 cakes or something with Freddy.

That's one of the only things that will ever remotely bring me back to this otherwise dull mode.
Honestly, the only reason I'm still playing 2v8 is because of the Bloopoints. I need to get my Mikaela to P100.
Because this 2v8 is way worse than the previous version, and I still can't play a killer that I actually enjoy playing.
-
I like 2v8, but I think they've brought it back way too soon.
It really shouldn't be as restrictive as it currently is.

There is something good about the map being killer-sided, no more map offerings.
I don't think that is the case, tbh. You can still be sent there to have a miserable match:
All that changed is that the killer will be the one using that particular offering, instead of survivors.
-
Now that I think about it, if Ghostface ever gets added to 2v8 the game should allow both killers to play him.

I think the old (OG) version was hideous in addition to being the most survivor sided map in the game. Every time I see old footage I am struck by just how bad it looked, and addition to having ptsd flashbacks to the gameplay.
The new version, imo, is aesthetically great, but hella killer sided. So I guess on balance, I'd take the new version if I had to choose.
Now I actually think it wasn't really all that imbalanced before the latest changes, where they made the houses much weaker for survs. Before, I think it had a realistic sort of vibe where they houses were strong for survs, but the center of the map was strong for the killer.
Now the whole map is strong for the killer. I think if they just reverted the most recent changes, I personally wouldn't have any issues with the map.
Well, we're all entitled to our own opinions, of course.

Woow how interesting. I’m going to take the time to dive into all the info. Thank you both! 🙏
Edit: Wooow okay so very different! Okay so why was he even changed in the first place?
Honestly, even though I was here at the time I do not know what was the justification for a full rework instead of a few QoL improvements. As @Shroompy said, Freddy was (wrongly) perceived to be the worst killer in the game by players who did not understand how his power worked and how to use it effectively.
Because of that his pick rate suffered, and many players often complained about a lack of strength, but there was never a need to change Freddy the way they did it.
Outside of those who had lost their favorite killer, generally speaking the rework was not negatively received at first. But after the Forever Freddy build became popular things really went downhill. To a point where Freddy was genuinely one of the most disliked killers in the game.
@Shroompy said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3844438#Comment_3844438
Because at the time a lot of the playerbase agreed that he needed some changes since he did not do well with the meta at the time, and was regarded as the worst killer for quite some time.
The rework was well received at first, but then "Forever Freddy" became popular which was stacking regression perks and using Swing Chains and Jump Rope which use to apply an action speed penalty based on how many Survivors were asleep. He also didnt get slowed down while placing Snares and had 8 of them, so paired with the rest of his kit he was basically just a better, more annoying version of The Clown.
Now people agree he needs yet another rework since hes gotten nothing since he was nerfed a few years back. Im just hoping they make somethin more interesting than what he is now other than just number changes
Ya know, not sure if I ever told this story my friend, but I remember my very first match with reworked Freddy, the day he got changed.
The only comment I got that match was from an Ace, and he complained about how boring the character had become. It has been over five years and that Ace's comment still applies.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3844185#Comment_3844185
Can someone please help me understand the differences between old Freddy and current Freddy?
Well, I can help!
Old Freddy was completely different from the current Freddy, and in fact he was completely different from every other killer we've ever had. No character comes close to how he worked.
So, originally, there was no passive sleep. Every survivor started the trial awake, like what we currently have, but awake survivors could not interact with Freddy. They could be pulled off lockers, but that was it. They couldn't be attacked by Freddy and, mostly importantly, they could not see him nor his aura, even with perks like Dark Sense or Object of Obsession. Awake survivors could only tell Freddy was near them by paying attention to his lullaby, which wasn't and still isn't directional.
Once a survivor was manually tagged by Freddy's power, they would begin to fall asleep. That process was called the Dream Transition, and by default it took 7 seconds. During the Dream Transition, survivors could see glimpses of Freddy, similar to what Sadako currently has. This video can help you understand what I'm talking about:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQd087TtKMo&t=9sAfter the Dream Transition was finished the survivor would be pulled into the Dream World. Now Freddy was free to attack them, but that wasn't the only thing that happened. Survivors in the Dream World would suffer from an action speed penalty of 50% by default, and, if they were outside of Freddy's terror radius (24 metres), their aura would be revealed to him.
In order to wake up survivors could fail a generator or healing skill check (sabotage skill checks wouldn't wake a survivor up) or they could be woken up by a teammate.
Alarm Clocks, Dream Pallets, Dream Snares and Dream Projection did not exist, all of them were added after his rework in July of 2019 (my worst day of playing DBD).
Edit: I forgot one small detail. A survivor that got healed from the dying state to the Injured state would automatically wake up.
@Shroompy said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3844378#Comment_3844378
Old Freddy might as well of been a different killer, he didnt have Snares, Pallets, or even his Teleport.
Freddy could not harm awake Survivors, and was invisible to them as well. Survivors could tell when he was near since his lullaby would play, but it wasnt directional and couldnt be deciphered through distance.
He needed to manually tag a Survivor with sleepiness to pull them into the Dream World which took 7 seconds by default. During said transition he would be briefly visible similar to Sadako when she Manifests.
Once a Survivor was asleep Freddy could harm Survivors, their aura would be revealed to him if they were outside outside his Terror Raidus (which was 24m) and they would suffer a 50% action speed penalty.
The only way to escape the Dream World was through failing a skill check, or another Survivor waking them up. Alarm Clocks did not exist.
Might of missed something but thats most of it, @GeneralV could probably fill in the gaps if there is any
I think that is everything, yes.
Unless we decide to discuss add-ons and strategies, then there is a lot more to talk about.

I remember those days. You’re in classic form GeneralV.
I’m torn. The old vibes were classic dbd but my hot take is that I love all the color in the new maps. I know it’s unpopular but it’s how I feel.
Of course! I still believe the old DBD was, overall, a better game than the modern DBD. But that is just my opinion.
I don't dislike newer maps like Borgo (before the change, the red looked nice and I'll die on that hill) and Toba, but the themed exit gates, especially on Dead Dawg Saloon or Nostromo, just do not fit, imo. It makes sense for them to look out of place.

Hag was never my main, but I used to play her from time to time.
She was my number 2, one could say. Knight currently holds that spot.
I stopped playing her when survivors got the ability to remove her traps without flashlights.
-
I like it. Especially before the Realm Beyond ruined everything. Maps before the reworks were peak.
But I'll tell you a minor inconvenience regarding map design that I do not enjoy: the Exit Gates being made to "fit" the map's theme.
I don't think that should be done, because the Exit Gates don't exist in the memories from which the Entity created the maps, they should look out of place.
