I think all Coldwind Farm maps should be reverted back to better iterations.

You really don't like Wesker, do you? Like, not at all?
Indeed, my friend.
I feel nothing but disdain for this character in DBD.

You’re certainly not alone there.
I’d also be against adding voicelines for the older characters. I feel like the ambiguity that comes with the lack of them shouldn’t be lost.
Not to mention that a lot of characters pre-Resident Evil were voiced by in-house BHVR staff, some of which have even left the studio.This.
I agree completely, friend.
I would also like the option to turn them off, if possible. If I hear another "Poor performance indeed" I'll go insane.

Yes, I agree.
Generally speaking the killer meta was way better in the past than the one we have now.

Way too much aura reading these days. I've only been playing Killer aside from 2v8.
I really wish Killer aura perks weren't so common but thankfully I play both sides so I can still enjoy the game irrespective of which side is too OP at any given time.
Love My Mains ❤️

I agree completely, my dear friend.
I remember when I first started playing DBD it was reasonable for a survivor to keep track of aura reveal. A Nurse's Calling, BBQ, Bitter Murmur, a few add-ons here and there and Freddy who had it basekit. That was it. You could expect survivors to understand which aura reveal the killer was using and work around it.
But now that is simply no longer possible. Everything that you do, even just starting the match (Lethal Pursuer) will reveal your aura, and it shouldn't be like that.
And yes, it is good to play both sides. That is when DBD's experience really shines. Though I gotta say I've been playing more survivor than killer these days. I really want to get my Mikaela to P100.
-
Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, of course.

I used to feel this way back when I first started playing. He felt really strong to me as a new player. A good Wraith is still very strong but your average Wraith is fine imo. I play him sometimes too and recommend him for new players as a good killer to start with because he is pretty simple to learn. He's one of the more common killers I've faced and most people play him the same way, so he can be quite predictable.
Speaking of Wraith and new players, I remember my first time getting face-camped was against a Wraith.
Original Mount Ormond, if memory serves me right.

Trickster needs a rework, I'd say, and they need to lower his movement speed back to 4.4
He is miserable to play against in his current state.

They're just countering BBQ, lol
I really miss the time when people would do that every match because BBQ was basically the only aura-reading perk you had to worry about.
Peak DBD.

Buffing the hook timer doesn't even make slugging necessary, at all.
Players just choose to slug, that is all that happens.

Yep. The nerf was a healthy change.
-
Yep, my fellow 2018 player, there are indeed a lot of perks that shouldn't have been changed.
BBQ, WGLF, Ruin, Thrill of the Hunt, Remember Me (never understood why they nerfed it only to add No Way Out years later), Spine Chill, and the list goes on.
DBD has a very long list of things that shouldn't have been changed.

Makes sense about being balanced the average player.
Thing is Nurse stomps even pro players, so something should be done.
The counter play for her is basically a mix of guess and bait that have a 50/50 chance of work. It's not something like Nemesis Whip that you can duck in certain loops or Wesker that gets screwed by a tree.https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3842353#Comment_3842353
I'm too against changing a killer's identity through their power.
Nurse should have the blinks much like Myers must have the tombstones, but in the former's case a rework needs to be done.
That's why I gave the suggestion I did a couple posts above.😊Yes, the blinks would have to be kept for a rework to not fail.
It isn't a bad suggestion at all, I'd say :)

But it is here anyway. And the consequences of those decisions has born fruit.
Honestly, all I see is the huge drop in matchmaking quality after the system was added to the game, something we've yet to recover from.
That whole situation was a mess. No one wanted that system in the game, and it was added anyway. In my opinion it is one of the worst things ever done to DBD.
I strongly believe we should go back to the ranking system with the actual rank reset from the old days. That was the best system we've ever had.

If MMR didn't exist, i might consider agreeing with you. But DBD is not really good as a party game either, have you tried playing it with a large group of friends who are just messing around? The novelty wears off pretty quick.
Party games don't have MMR. Mario kart is not matching people based on their MMR, nor is Mario Party.
And if the "But its a party game" argument were true. Then why do they keep nerfing things like blight hug tech. Are people using hug tech in a "party game" setting? No, that is something that only the highest level blights who have probably mastered the killer playing hundreds of games were actually using. But they still nerfed it. Survivors who have a "party mindset" weren't going against those blights, because they weren't high enough MMR to do it.
This is just one example, but i don't buy the "its a party game" argument when time and time again the devs have shown that that is not the case.
But if you think it should be balanced around "Average players" then hold true to those convictions, nurse by definition must then be buffed. Because she is by far the worst killer in the game, when looking at the "average player"
Based on that logic we need to be nerfing the "really strong" killers like:
- Lich
- Freddy
- Pig
- Plague
- Dredge
- Sadako
And start buffing the "really weak" killers like:
- Nurse
- Huntress
- Hillbilly
- Artist
- Spirit
To be fair, DBD was released without MMR and when the system was first introduced most people hated it.
This was not something people wanted or asked for.

I feel like the concept of lightburn was definitely a good one I just don't think it played out well in actual matches as it made killers not get treated equally by items. I think it makes sense to bring lightburn back but I also understand why it was removed.
Yeah, I can understand the reason it was removed, but generally speaking I don't think the game's balance should take priority over theme and atmosphere.
-
Honestly I would leave it as it is. After experiencing this perk while it was meta it is safe to say I don't want to ever see it again.
-
To be fair, Nurse did receive a few nerfs throughout the years. I remember when I first started playing DBD she could have 5 blinks with certain add-ons.
What has always been off the table is a complete rework, which I think is a good thing. DBD reworks have a really bad record.
Freddy? Worst one in the history of DBD.
Hillbilly? Everyone hated overheat.
Sadako? So bad it got reverted.
Twins? No need to explain this one.
I'll mention two exceptions: Leatherface and Skull Merchant. The rework to Leatherface was alright, and even though many people still dislike Skull Merchant I don't think her previous iteration, before the recent nerfs, was bad for the game.
But generally speaking reworks always have a high risk of failing. And considering Freddy's history, I think a massive rework that completely changes a character's identity shouldn't be done again.
-
Wraith is fine as he is.
I will say though, I don't think they should have removed the Lightburn mechanic.
It made a lot of sense thematically, as the killers in DBD are sensitive to light. You can clearly see it on the perk description for Lightborn and the original description for Shadowborn:
"Unlike other beasts of The Fog, you have adapted to light".
"You have a keen vision in the darkness of the night but are highly sensitive to light."

Same! Im a Legion main who also loves playing Nemmy, Xeno, and Wesker. Same as you the only killer in 2v8 I play is wraith but I really don't enjoy playing him that often since he is so bare-bones. I hate nurse, I never liked her, Bill and Blight are hard for me to control even on K&M(I have issues controlling dash killers like Chucky, Oni, Blight, and Billy), and I don't like range killers bc I have no crosshair for aiming. I do enjoy Spirit but I stopped playing her bc I have been having issues with some bugs she had, having a hard time with the sounds when she uses her power.
Honestly, even if they didn't add my fav killers I still really wouldn't play it because of the queue time and having to deal with someone I don't know. I don't like playing with randoms in a game like did. Other PVP games Im fine with like OW2 but I feel solo queue in dbd is painful.
Yeah, I don't have much reason to play killer this time.
The first time I wasn't going solo as killer, and overall I think the first version of 2v8 was better than this one. I basically don't play anyone other than Freddy and Knight, so having to go Wraith every game isn't really fun.

The only issue I can imagine: (Plot Spoilers do not read if haven't played Casting of Frank Stone)
If any of the cast makes it to the DBD game, there are two issues.
1 - It implies there is a canon ending for TCoFS, and I think the main point is that your actions in the story allows you to create your own unique horror experience.
2 - It kinda gives away the ending of the game, as building up to sending the surviving cast into the trials is the climax of the game... and the main draw of the game is discovering the story.
For anyone who hasn't played the Casting of Frank Stone, it's a very cool game with an interesting story and a creepy atmosphere.
It's not particularly hard, it's more about the story, andnits a create your own horror experience type deal. How much mileage you'll get is questionable, but it is very cool for any DBD or horror fan.
If you're unsure maybe wait for a Sale, but it is good. Would recommend.
If you're unsure maybe wait for a Sale
I read that as "wait for a Sable" and I was really confused for a second.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/432870/why-is-nurse-allowed-to-be-broken
Everytime this thread comes up, i ask a simple question. Should the game be balanced around top tier players, or average level players?
In my opinion, multiplayer games should always be balanced around what the highest level players are capable of doing, while still making sure the game is fun for the average skill players. This is where you rework things that are bad in competitive play, but are complete "noob stompers" such as when LoL did that to champions like Xin Xhao, at one point, who was stomping pub games, but pretty bad in tournament play. Or the reverse, where something is really good in competitive play, but super hard to play so in low skill games it has a horrible win rate. That way the game is inherently balanced, and it gives players something to strive for that is valuable.
For some reason, the DBD community seems to think that you should balance this game around average skilled players. I disagree with that, but thus, i give you the stats.
The last official stats released:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/433
They put nurse at a 55% kill rate at 3rd from the bottom. Keep in mind that the stats are slightly deflated for doctor due to the "afk doctor" epidemic that was going on in some regions, and hillbilly changes had just barely gone live, and didn't include the removal of the overheat yet. Additionally, nearly every single time they release data, the nurse is the bottom of the list in terms of kill rate, usually far below the desired "60% kill rate" mark and making her by far the "worst killer in the game"
Even looking at the unofficial stats on nightlight, shows her having a 57% kill rate, not too far off that 55% kill rate the official stats put her at and killers like:
- lich
- pinhead
- sadako
- blight
- twins
- hag
- plague
- pig (yes pig)
- wraith
- freddy (yes freddy)
- leatherface
- oni
- chucky
- nemesis
- doctor
- dracula
- billy
- wesker
- dredge (yes dredge)
All have a higher kill rate than her. In fact, the unofficial stats put her only slight above the average 56.83% kill rate of all killers.
So i ask you again. Should games be balanced around what the most skilled players in the game are capable of? Or should they be balanced around the average player? When you look at the most skilled players in the world, generally you'll see that, assuming no outside rules like perk restrictions, or scoring systems, or any other things that the "comp scene" tries to put in place to balance the game, pretty much the only viable killers at that level, are nurse, spirit, and maybe blight (although i'm not sure since the removal of hug tech).
So, if we were to balance around the highest skilled players in the game, the survivors need massive massive nerfs, or almost every killer needs massive massive buffs in order to compete. Then, if that is the case THEN nurse can be nerfed.
But if the philosophy is that we balance the game around the "Average" players"? Well, then based on that, looking at official stats from BHVR, shows that nurse is in dire need of BUFFS to bring her more in line with the super strong killers like… freddy…. and pig….
And the unofficial stats show her as the shining beacon of design and balance for what this game should be balanced around, a perfectly "average" killer.
Keep in mind i say these things as a player who:
- Has 4k hours
- Is a nurse main
- Literally cannot remember the last time i lost a game as nurse (i do draw on rare occasion)
- Thinks nurse should be nerfed
- Thinks that survivors as a whole need to have their "power" toned down significantly, mostly in terms of nerfing loops and not increasing gen times
- If anything i think gens should be shorter
So one last time, i ask you, should this game be balanced around high skill players, or average skill players?
The answer is neither.
It has always been the answer.

I'm happy to help. 😄 Sorry, if the explanation was a bit too technical.
I haven't mained Freddy for that long (only for the last couple months) but I think all of us just want this killer to be treated like the horror icon he is. He doesn't need to be overpowered or among the best killers. But the devs need to find a way to make him fun again. More than anything I hope that @GeneralV will get his favorite killer back.
Thank you, my friend!

Why is a complete rework so off the table?
Something like making her unable to 360 for instance would probably not really hurt the 4k hours nurse player, and just make her even worse for beginners. So end of the day the issue is still there, aka the skilled nurse players are still going to stomp the life out of everyone. Meanwhile the unskilled nurse player will suffer more. In short a change like this would basically affect the opposite of what you'd ideally want to target.
Ideally you'd want to target her ceiling being so high it allows people to hit a point where the game is all but over when it starts. I don't see how this can be targeted without just completely reworking a power that is just breaking the fundamentals of the game.
Why is a complete rework so off the table?
Bad record, I'd say.
They don't usually end well, as DBD's history has proven to us:
Freddy? Worst one in the history of DBD.
Hillbilly? Everyone hated overheat.
Sadako? So bad it got reverted.
Twins? No need to explain this one.
Sure, maybe someone can point me towards Leatherface. Or the patch that got rid of Old Legion. But the fact remains that reworks always have a high chance of failing.

I think I stopped playing shortly before the Alien chapter and then picked it back up around the time Dracula came out? Hated learning how to play against Chucky, Drac, and the Unknown (the Unknown especially because without researching, how would I know I need to look at him while being chased to get rid of his power???)
Damn, learning how to play against the Unknown must be really confusing. I had trouble learning how to play against Xeno, tbh, I have problems with killers who are extremely oppressive in chase.
Though now that I think about it, I guess this means you've missed the Blood Moon event? Truly unfortunate, friend. It was a really good event, and it had one of the best main menu backgrounds ever.

THIS. Overheat was unneeded and Overdrive is just stupid. OG Billy was perfect and probably my favorite killer to go against in all DBD history. Wish they would just revert him.
I don't think Overdrive is necessarily a bad addition to the game, but yes they should have just reverted Hillbilly back to how he was.
All they had to do was make Carburettor Tuning Guide not stack Charge time gains with The Thompson's Mix or Primer Bulb and Hillbilly would have been perfect.
-
Yeah, I've taken two extended breaks from DBD before.
First one was shortly after the first RE chapter released. That was around the time when many of the Old DBD things were getting reworked, removed or changed and it really had a negative impact in my experience.
The second one was in 2023. Mostly because I was interested in other games. So yeah, that means I wasn't here for the original Skull Merchant. Actually when I got back to the game there were four new killers to learn, and a long grind ahead because I wanted to get my Freddy to P100.

I think no matter what BHVR does slugging, camping, and tunneling will remain META strategies. When survivors were at their weakest and killers had the strongest regression in the game and games took 40 minutes, killers still camped, tunneled, and slugged. It doesn’t matter how strong or weak survivors/killers are there will always be camping, tunneling, and slugging because it makes the game easier for one side.
To be fair, friend, those strategies were not this extreme in the past.
That doesn't mean people didn't camp, tunnel or slug in the past, because they did. But generally speaking you could expect a killer to play for 12 hooks, or prioritizing BBQ stacks over actually killing survivors.
I think it is possible to return to that state of the game.

@hermitkermit said:

Absolutely. I am very much against these kind of tactics being used the way they are as I think they can be necessary, but the effort you put in vs. the value you get and the minimal risk just doesn't balance out. If these were perks they would be gutted quickly because they're like old MFT, way too much for way too little. Still though, even though I don't agree I understand why people use use them. And while there is personal accountability to be had when using those tactics, it's ultimately on the devs for making these tactics as powerful as they are. Killers shouldn't have to resort to these kind of things to play optimally, they need to be rewarded for hooks and deserve adequate compensation for putting in that extra time/effort for multiple chases and hooks.
I have seen your posts many times and I know your feelings about that patch, and I am very much in agreement with you.
It's nice to meet you, by the way. <3 You're always such a kind person on these forums even when you disagree with others and for that I just want to thank you. Everytime I see Freddy I think of you and your passion for him is infectious and has me rooting so deeply for his upcoming changes. I truly hope they do right by him.
I agree completely. And I'd go as far as to say that if patch 6.1.0 had never happened tunneling would have never spiraled out of control. It wasn't good to nerf both the incentive to spread hooks (BBQ) and the punishment for not doing so (DS).
Also, thank you for your words, my friend, you're very kind! I appreciate it, truly <3
As for Freddy, he is indeed a very special character to me. The first killer I played, all the way back in 2018, and my eternal main. As heartbreaking as it was to receive the news that we are not getting his old power back, I still have some hope they'll come up with something good in January. I'll try my best to offer as much feedback as I possibly can.
-
Close enough, welcome back OG face-camp.

It’s simply the path of least resistance. It’s in every event and in the regular 1v4 as well. The pattern is like: Why should I leave the hook if people are going to come back? I’ll just camp it. Why chase multiple survivors? I’ll just tunnel one out at a time. Why hook? I’ll just slug everyone. Whatever is the easiest is what will be done. It’s up to the devs to make the easiest decision not be the most optimal decision.
It’s up to the devs to make the easiest decision not be the most optimal decision.
This.
I think we can see it with tunneling.
It was not as terrible in the past because there was more you could do against it. The maps didn't have as much deadzones as they do today and after patch 2.6.0 there was Decisive Strike, which was a direct counter to tunneling. As long as you were unhooked by someone who had BT, you had a chance.
However, with the way things currently are, there is far less you can do if the killer decides they want you out of the game as soon as possible.

Honestly, I think the first version of 2v8 was way better than this one.

Fair enough but we would like to ask why so we can try and see it.
It is mostly because of how good his original design was, and still is.
The devs understood the strength a high mobility power had, and how to balance around it. Hillbilly doesn't have a bloated kit like Wesker, doesn't render every tile useless like Xeno. His ability is powerful, but he can be looped, you're not helpless against him.
That was especially true for the OG Hillbilly during the Old DBD. The modern DBD has maps where you as a survivor has almost nothing to use, and that is a problem. But if you get a map with a decent amount of resources, I think Hillbilly is as fun as he has always been.
-
I don't have much to say about cooldowns, mobility or skill. Not this time.
I just think Hillbilly is fun to go against. Especially before Overheat and Overdrive. OG Hillbilly was perfect.
-
Meanwhile Freddy is just:
It will be fun!

Actually yes, I agree.

May I ask if you dislike him more than skull merchant? Also imo nemesis is far more annoying than wesker as he is now huntress 2.0 with insane hit hoxes, his zombies can be annoying specially indoor maps , your trying to complete an important gen and ken and barbie is forcing you off it or your trying to loop him and get a good loop only for said ken and barbie to hit you or down you for him and ofc he also gets info because the zombies raises their arms like someone is around here look here. Imo his power the poor design one, should have been the rocket launcher. Neme has far less vaccines to use vs wesker who has 2 fas per case and he too gets killer insticts so he has more info than wesker cause zombies alerts him as well.
As in voice line chucky is far more annoying along with unknowns cause chucky gives that cocky ######### like attitude that I wish I can yank him out the screen and unknown is some demented person sounding like a person who needs a ward.
Wesker voice line and power is designed from his re5 game, these are the exact things he says mind you and yeah re 5 sadly was not scary. A billy able to spam his saw after missing and up on your butt with no slow down is far more bad designed imo and wesker power has a bad cooldown.
May I ask if you dislike him more than skull merchant?
Yes, because I don't dislike Skull Merchant.
But there isn't a killer I hate more than Wesker.
