but no one left behind take x2 buff, you just cant buff only survs perks
They are not equivalent, imo.
No One Left Behind was a terrible perk that almost no one used since the Old DBD. Thrill of the Hunt was outclassed by the original Undying, but it was never weak.

As much as I would love to never see Wesker again, I don't think this would be healthy for the game.
People who main generally disliked characters, like Skull Merchant, would have insane queue times.

I'd say. When was the last time I had to sweat this hard only to get losses and draws over and over? Never. I'm genuinely not impressed with the looping I'm seeing. They either go down really quick the moment I get a favorable chase, or they're at a literal no-mindgame spot that forces Bloodlust/Entity Blocker. In any event, the gens are going really fast. You're never gonna be able to stop them, especially with people abusing the arbitrary time waste loops, where the killer has to break the pallet to get them anyway. So it's not that the game is suddenly survivor sided because of the killer nerfs and MMR change. The MMR change (which tbf, I asked for it) is really showing how unfair the game is for killer. I've had improved teammates as survivor, so that even when we lose, I knew my teammates were actually trying to the very end. But the survivors I gave as killer are just brutal now. They either don't go down, or they do but not quick enough to fuel Pop/Pain Res/Surge to slow the gens. A perkless killer would be screwed in this game state. It is SO bad. Probably the worst I've seen, and it begs the question of if we need something drastic for killer or not. 120% movement speed? Base STBFL? Faster Bloodlust? All I know is killers don't have enough tools to get survivors down reasonably fast. It's not even close, so I'm gonna take a break from the game.

Come on, man.
Come on, man.
What is it?
I believe DBD hasn't been survivor sided in a very long time. And current DBD definitely isn't.
-
I don't do that, I usually try to crawl towards where I think the hatch might spawn. Got extremely lucky a few times.
But if the killer moris me I don't dislike it, it is better than yet another hook. At least I get to see a nice mori.

Hell yeah I did, this game was just one on what… 14-16 games? Other than this one was pretty enjoyable. Thank you again, appreciated!!
That is good to know! It always helps to have some good games after a frustrating match.
You know, the thing that annoys me the most in DBD are 360s. I cannot physically handle the sudden change in the direction, to me it feels extremely disorienting. So games where survivors really try to go for spins are miserable .
Getting a good game after one of those certainly helps a lot.

I mean, this mistake is very well known, I thought experienced survivor players (again, this Lara wasn't new at all) should've known for now that this is not the right play, yet still it's happening.
Usually I don't care when playing soloq, since I know what I'm signing up for, but these basic mistakes just gets to me.
All was whatever - until she decided to leave. And it wasn't due to bad connection that was an obvious manual Exit button. If she didn't leave - we could've had an actual fun\close game.
Thank you. ❤️
While I don't think solo queue is as bad as most people say, it is usually where you'll find some of the most questionable plays in DBD. Not to mention the disconnects and hook suicides, of course. Even from experienced players.
One of the worst DBD survivors I have ever seen was a legit Legacy Dwight. And unsurprisingly, he DCed and left us to die, since that was before the bots were added to DBD.
In my opinion it is not the most frustrating thing in the game, but it gets close.
Hopefully you'll get better games today, my friend!

I played quite a bit of Singularity back when he came out.
He's definitely difficult, but he seems more rewarding now. A lot of his strength comes from knowing DBD as a whole. Gotta know where high traffic spots are on the map, gotta know weird angles and sightlines, etc etc
Good to see ya here, friend.
Well, I wasn't around for the release of the End Transmission (though I did see the infamous "it wasn't programmed to harm the crew") so I don't know much about the major differences between release Singularity and current Singularity. I know the auto-aim was added later, but it makes the bio-pods a bit better for us who play with a controller.
Also, the high traffic spots are very important, I agree. Managed to get three survivors in quick succession with well placed pods on Ormond… which was immediately denied because two of them had EMPs, but it was a good play nonetheless.

LOL they are 100% not gonna killswitch a perk just because the other side finds it inconvenient and too strong before an event. They didn't do it for MFT before Anniversary 2023, BBQ, or Haunted by Daylight. They won't here either.
If this year's Bone Chill is anything like the last one, which in my experience was very sweaty, we will be seeing Thrill of the Hunt almost every game during the event.
Ah, this won't be fun at all.
-
I know the feeling, my friend, it is really unfortunate when the unhooked survivor body-blocks for an unhooker that doesn't need it, especially if the unhooked survivor doesn't have DS or OTR or anything else.
Bodyblocking is the correct play sometimes, but when it isn't it doesn't accomplish anything except make the situation worse for the other survivors.
Not sure why they DCed though.

My issues playing Singularity can neatly be summed up this way: 🎮
When he first came out and for a long time it was just so unresponsive and clunky, aiming was poop, and it didn't help that every twig or leaf would block a pod (that one still happens). After his last changes I wouldn't say it got better, just less bad imo.
Yep! I play with a controller, same as you, and he is indeed not very friendly for that.
The auto-aim helps though.

Before it was survivor sided?
I mean DBD in 2016.
Yep.
That doesn't mean it was impossible to win as killer, of course, but generally speaking survivors had the advantage. But that isn't the case anymore, most of the strong maps, perks and add-ons survivor had are no longer around.
Some of them had to be changed, others didn't. But most of them were changed years ago.
I would say the balance shifted from survivor sided, to a somewhat balanced state, then towards killers.

Nope. It hasn't been survivor sided in a very, VERY long time.

Yeah, sorry about that. I edited my post right after. I had this formula in my head where action speed was 1/(1 + negative modifier). I should have checked here before I posted this.
This is really too much. There is no denying that. These numbers are way overblown. 93 seconds to bless a hex totem is so ridiculous. I can't believe this actually happened.
And it could have been avoided if they had left Thrill as it was (with the BP bonus, of course).

You come into this thread and support the bad changes by saying that you dont like the playstyle that would be discouraged by the changes proposed in this thread and that you like the playstyle that would be discouraged by the changes proposed in this thread. You are very much voicing a mindset that I called would be bad for this game's design if that was ever to be applied.
as for posting gameplay - not posting gameplay leads to pointless discussions like this.
I wouldn't care so much about gameplay if the OP was giving valid argumentation why they disagree and they don't.
They dont give proper arguments, they dont acknowledge when they have been proven wrong.
They keep appealing to the fact I allegedly ignored their questions (I in fact did not) and dismiss any reasonable thought or idea given to them if they even bother to acknowledge that in the first place. Simple example - they entirely ignored and refused to acknowledge the window tech counterplay (staying still after fastvault to force TP to stay behind the window) which trivializes Singularity's power whenever you're near windows and forces him to mindgame you like m1 killer. Why? Because it breaks their narrative about zero counterplay. Acknowledging there's counterplay to overclock would imply being infected isn't that big of a deal as they make it out to be and this is simply inconceivable.
This entire discussion can be summed up by OP complaining that Singularity can immediately reinfect survivors after they use EMP and me telling them this is okay and there's a plenty of room for counterplay to the actual ability that comes after, while being kind enough to offer ways to deal with Singularity on the stage of infecting and OP is clinging HARD on the fact these ways of mitigation dont always work, while entirely ignoring the actual chase / counterplay aspect.
Can you imagine a person complaining how there's nothing you can do about Freddy teleporting to your generator and dismissing any advice you give about running away, because they do not want Freddy to teleport to gen in the first place? This is the same kind of insanity here.
Try to consider that instead of defending them because their suggestions apparently appeal to you. You are siding with a person who has zero idea of what they're talking about and who refuse to listen to reason or provide evidence to support their position. They simply yap.
First of all, this does not address the hostility written here in previous responses. I fail to understand why it was directed towards me when I talked to you respectfully and kept the discussion civil.
Second, not once did I state that I agree with OP's post regarding Singularity. In fact, if you asked for my opinion I don't think he requires changes, I would keep him as he currently is. What I did say was that I agree with the OP in regards to posting gameplay: I don't think it would help the discussion because I have seen it being dismissed before. That doesn't mean you would do it, I am just saying that it is something that happens, and has happened before, when people choose to share their own gameplay.
Furthermore, all I've said was that I have more fun against Singularity when they go for gen defense, because I personally have always liked macro gameplay. I am not the biggest fan of chases, I prefer the bigger picture of a DBD match. I don't think there was anything wrong with me sharing this opinion in a Forum that is made for us to talk about the game we all like to play. It wouldn't be right of me to say I was glad others "weren't in charge" every time they shared an opinion I disagree with.
Can you imagine a person complaining how there's nothing you can do about Freddy teleporting to your generator and dismissing any advice you give about running away, because they do not want Freddy to teleport to gen in the first place?
Well, I was here during the peak of Forever Freddy and immediately before his nerf in 2021, I have seen plenty of complaints regarding Freddy. But I have tried to keep the discussions respectful. You can check my post history if you want to.
Try to consider that instead of defending them because their suggestions apparently appeal to you. You are siding with a person who has zero idea of what they're talking about and who refuse to listen to reason or provide evidence to support their position. They simply yap.
Please point me towards the comment where I explicitly state that I agree with OP's proposed changes towards Singularity.
Because in your comment you said OP's changes would force Singularity towards gen defense. And I said that (referring to gen defense) is when I have most fun against Singularity. I did not say those changes should be done.Or that I would support them. I believe my stance on this matter is clear.

macro gameplay in dbd is ultimately boring and exhausting. either to face or to face as well. it's devoid of any actual player interaction or dynamic because for survivors to give you a proper opposition in such gameplay they would have to play in swf with comms and the game would never be balanced for that.
as for posting gameplay - it's pointless to discuss anything objectively without talking about particular examples. people can call trapper OP because their only experience against him is facing memeing 10k hours trapper mains winning games without perks and thinking this is the norm
and im not being hostile in any way towards you.

i dont really value the opinion of the guy
yeah, thank god you arent in charge here.
Your tone is disproportionate to mine, as I've said such harshness is not needed. I've kept the discussion civil and respectful.
your decisionmaking will not the game better for a lot of players me included.
Which decision-making? I don't see any propose changes I've made towards Singularity nor any other killer in this specific thread. I was mentioning a playstyle that can be done with current Singularity, and that I happen to really like. That is it. That is all I've said.

yeah, thank god you arent in charge here.
gen defence singu is the most tedious and boring kind of gameplay this killer has and this is exactly the reason this killer is so much capable of grinding solo q players into fine powder as beating gen defence bot is extremely difficult without coordination as he completely abandons 1v1 interactions and focuses entirely on resource&gen defence 1v4 gaming where survivors have no agency unless they play well as a team.
Disrespect is unneeded, I was not aggressive towards you.
I am agreeing, respectfully, with what was said here. I know for a fact that posting gameplay often doesn't help the discussion at all because it will most likely be dismissed immediately. I've seen it happen myself, actually. That is why I commented.
As for the other comment, I was pointing out a playstyle that I, in particular, really like: macro gameplay. Less focus on chases, more focus towards controlling the map. I've always liked that, and I know Singularity is capable of such gameplay. Never once did I state I would change him, in any way.

When survivors are awake he is completly powerless. When houndmaster and Merchant can use it all the time, plus unlike Freddy they have good addons.
Indeed.
However, the moment survivors stop doing the intended counterplay Freddy surpasses Skull Merchant. And it isn't rare to play against people who rarely use the Alarm Clocks, simply because the Dream World is nowhere near as dangerous as it used to be.

Probably Skull Merchant.
Houndmaster is not bad when her power actually works (it usually doesn't) and Freddy is winnable:

Yeah it's always some excuse. It's almost as if it's some fallback auto-win the argument here on the forums: "oh my logic fell through… how about you post gameplay or your ideas mean nothing!!!" It gets overly tiresome extremely quickly.
At that point the discussion is over, because not even the perfect gameplay would be enough.
-
Then that means Counterforce doesn't counter Thrill of the Hunt.
-
4 perk slots to counter tunneling, camping, slowdown, blindness, killers who are oppressive in chase and now an overbuffed Thrill of the Hunt?
That is impossible.
Survivors get 4 perks, not 16. They cannot control their teammates' perks, they can only choose their own build.

whenever people, who have not a single bit of understanding of how character functions, try to identify and fix the issues they think the character has, they end up making things so much worse.
it's like this guy was responsible for making that failed twins rework.
"How do we want to rework twins?"
"We dont want them to slug"
"okay, so what will they do?"
"I dont know, but they WILL NOT slug"
same here. this guy doesnt care what singularity will do, he just wants him NOT TO INFECT PEOPLE MIDCHASE. doesnt matter at what cost and how, he just seethes at the thought singularity is able to just get the permission to use his power without much hindrance, it's actually inconceivable

Its intentional, a few killers have this. Because if it wasn't there, then after you get hit, you just leave. So, when that happens on these killers, the gates get blocked for you for a few seconds, i wanna say its like 4-5 seconds. That way you can't get out. This is part of the design of their powers.
If you would Just Leave™ instead of teabagging the gates, you'd have a lot less problems with this kind of thing.

Not every survivor is toxic and just wants to teabag the killer every match.

I must preface that 'semantic shift' is a rather broad term, encompassing multiple possible kinds of 'shifts' or movements, if you will. DbD as a whole has many terms that have shifted in one way or another, though most happened quite quickly as perks were added, metas shifted, etc..
Take the Memento Mori offerings. The phrase itself is fairly well-known in pop culture, though it has little to do with the actual act of killing someone. In the English-speaking part of the DbD community, the term 'mori' was adopted as the finisher kill we call it now. The Memento part was dropped entirely in common parlance, presumably out of convenience.
Initially, a 'mori' referred to the offerings alone. Over time, it came to refer to not just the offerings, but the action itself too. "I'm getting mori'd". In gameplay terms, this meant you were eliminated from the game prematurely. This was adopted at a larger scale when different methods of 'mori'ing' were added. Devour Hope, and Myers' Tombstone add-ons initially, then Pyramid Head's and later Sadako's powers as well. I believe Pig's RBT kill was also referred to as a mori for a while, but that didn't stick.
In-game, the action was always referred to as simply 'kill', or 'kill by your own hands' in dailies and tomes. The term 'Mori' wasn't anywhere, except in the offerings.
Until the big store overhaul. There's this button now, called 'View Mori'. The term now officially refers to not just the action, but the animation itself as well. Individual killers can have multiple mori's now.
Where way back when, 'Trapper has two mori's' could only mean that your Trapper has two Memento Mori offerings in his inventory. Now it refers to the fact that Trapper has two potential mori animations; his regular one and Naughty Bear's
Even more interestingly, though I can't exactly observe it properly myself, is that in Asian regions, it isn't called 'mori'ing'. At first glance, that makes sense: maybe the offerings were likely localised, so the term isn't going to naturally occur without influence from English.
What I find fascinating, then, is that their equivalent of the term is 'I'm being memento'd'. Memento'd. Remembered.
Hahaha, well done friend!
This was interesting to read.

On a linguistic level, it’s fascinating how “literally” has become something of a homonym, in that it seems to have become interchangeable with “actually”. This kind of Semantic Shift seems especially common in English. It’s to be expected, given the innumerable amount of external influences, especially now that English has more or less become the language of the internet.
I also have a somewhat related etymological fun fact about blackbirds, if anyone’s interested

If one Surv gives up I play as normal but nicer, and if they're really struggling I even let one go or let them get a gen or two. My usual policy though is to let someone go unless I need a Mori on a certain Surv. I just like playing hard but letting people go. :)
If two give up I take that as my tie and then 2-hook the others, then let them go. It wasn't a fair fight.
If there's Bots, I take the Bots as my Kills and let 1-2 go depending on how many people stay in the round. Again, it wasn't a fair fight.
This does happen often as a Ghostface Main, and IDK why that is. I guess people don't like not hearing the Terror Radius, because I'm not the kind of Ghostface that teabags you unless your ass really deserved it.
I don't mind Farming either, but it has to be done towards the end and we both have to decide to drop it and have a truce. I even got this Mori on a Trevor that way - I had Rancor and I let the others go, I would have let HIM go but he stayed in the gate seeing I had it to give me Rancor value. This was before the Mori update.

My guess? The reveal mechanic.
It is really, REALLY frustrating as a survivor when you cannot do what you are supposed to do because the mechanic itself doesn't work the way it should.
It was the reason why Ghostface was my least favorite killer in the game before Wesker was added, despite my love for the Scream movies. The mechanic is THAT frustrating.

I really hate that the dog is just a clunky projectile … of course it wouldn't be fair if he had a Knights companions-level chase potential, but he is supposed to be a mean hunting dog, and if he misses a survivor by 2 inches, he just stops in his tracks? Even though thats just the mechanical part of her power, thats so jarring…
I haven't played against her yet, but nearly every match as her was painful. The Adept was probably one of the most painful ones and defiitely the worst in a long while. Plague was somewhat tougher, because her power was detrimental towards gaining emblems back in the days, but oof, Houndmaster with only her three base perks was definitely no fun. I barely managed to eek out a 4K against a duo and two solos, where the first one found killed themselves on hook. It was not my proudest moment, but I just wanted to get the adept out of the way.
Though the amount of salt I garnered after that game was off the charts.
Heh, my worst experience trying to get an adept was, by far, Blight. That one I actually regret going for.
As for Houndmaster, I can almost guarantee the survivors were not having fun, even if they escaped. The killer power just functions like Cenobite or Deathslinger, and that isn't fun at all.

Well, I just play the match like usual and try to end it as fast as possible.
